Transparent flash

I am trying to get a flash swf movie to show in dreamweaver
on a black background page, without showing the background of the
flash swf.
I tried mode=transparent in the parameters of the flash file.
However, the flash movie background won't go transparent. Is there
something else I can do?

it's not mode .. it's wmode="transparent".

yeah, ZINC is a great app and allows you to get the
functionality of a desktop application. Another way to possilby do
it is by creating a AIR application in flash. I don't know that
much about AIR as of yet, but that could be another thing to look

Put simply, we're running into problems with embedding a

Sadly, that's because there ARE no fixes. wmode="transparent"
    is and always

  • How to deal with transparent Flash ? Does WMODE work ?

I'm using LabVIEW 8.5.1 and i have an ActivX object with a flash movie into.
I have a transparent background in my movie and wants it to work in LabVIEW.
There is the methode wmode included in the object.  I set it to "transparent" like in a html webpage but i still get a white background.
Does wmode works in LabVIEW ?
Is there an other solution ?
    Thank you

It may be that the OP wants the ActiveX control itself to be transparent, so that possible other LabVIEW controls beneath might show through. And I believe the ActiveX control does not support that in any way. Not even fully shure how that would work, but possibly ActiveX allows that option nowadays, but as said I don't think the LabVIEW container supports that.

  • Transparent Flash has black background

I have a video flash file created in Premiere Pro CS4 which I keyed out the background, exported as a FLV/F4V with an encoded alpha channel. I place the flash on a JPG in Dreamweaver CS4 and want the movie to run transparent, but I always get a black box surrounding my movie. I use the "wmode" as "transparent" in the flash dialog box, but this does not eliminate the black background around the movie. Any suggestions?

Transparency with *.flv's works for me when I place the background on the bottom layer in the Flash program project (*.fla) and place the video on the layer above, in the Flash program project. Publish this "Flash Movie" from Flash and cut and paste the Flash code from the "Published" HTML page into either the table cell or div on your final Dreamweaver page depending upon whether you are building an "old school" table based page or a CSS based page.
If you are creating one of those "floating" over the top, Web page movies, someone in the Flash or Dreamweaver forum should be able to help you with that.
Also, in Premiere, you should be working in a "Desktop mode" sequence with "Square pixels" selected.
Here are the settings to get the flv to encode with an alpha channel:

  • Confused... JPG with Transparency in Flash?

    Hi,
I am working in Flash 8 on a PC. I have a cut out image of a
person's head, that is sitting on a layer above a background
graphic on a lower layer. When I look at the head image's bitmap
properties, it tells me it is a JPG (I pasted it in from
Fireworks). Q. :: How can the image have transparent areas (i.e.
the cut out region around the head) when it is a JPG? It works
well, but I want to make the head image an external JPG, and can't
figure out how to get te same effect. (I don't want to use GIF as
the image of the head is a photographic image.)
Perhaps it is possible to import a PNG into Flash with a
transparency? ... in Flash 6 player?
    Thanks for your help.
    Geoff

    > Perhaps the file is in JPG form with a black
    > background, and Flash knows to make the black an alpha
    channel somehow?
Yes .. that is what it does.
When you imported the image in a format that must have had
    transparency,
Flash was able to get that set up internally.
For those who want to know more, published SWF files can only
    have four
    image formats in them
    1) zip compressed 8-bit image (with or without alpha)
    2) zip compressed 16-bit image (no alpha)
    3) zip compressed 32-bit image (with or without alpha)
    4) jpeg compressed image (with or without zipped alpha)

  • SWF transparency in IE9-Vista. Nightmare.

I have scoured the web looking for expert input on this issue and sadly I can find none. I am laughable when it comes to Flash, my ability is poor at best. But I have about 6 websites I've made over the last few years, most of which have simple swf files embedded into the html via the <script><noscript> method using the AC_RunActiveContent script. Two of them have nav menus made with Flash, their displaying properly is DEPENDENT on their having transparent backgrounds. The use of "wmode" and "transparent" in the param and embed tags has always worked for me, until now, and the only problem is when the sites are viewed in IE9 running on Win Vista. My main work computer is Win 7 with the 5 major browsers, including IE9, which displays swf transparency fine across all browsers. Recently I went to my wife's office where there are three machines with Windows Vista +IE9.. and one with Windows XP + IE8. The sites display properly as they always have on XP. But on the machines that have Vista OS with the updated IE9 browser, there is a BLACK BOX bg on every swf file of every web page I've ever built. My most recent Flash embed was done with Dreamweaver CS4 and its different embedding method, no <noscript> tags, and different js files. No matter whether I embed the swf with the AC-RunActiveContent.js method or the swfobject_modified.js method of CS4, when I view my pages pages containing Flash objects on Vista machines with IE9, there is that horrible black box background behind the swf.
My first couple of sites were primitive at best, all tabled html, but at least the Flash content displayed the way I wanted it to. I wanted to know if there is a way to embed these swf objects differently so that viewers with Vista + IE9 will see the transparency properly. I know there has to be a way, but my limited knowledge has not found it yet. I would appreciate any input from people who know the ropes. Thanks.

I just noticed something else interesting. Since I know my code skills are poor, I wanted to find a site with PROPERLY embedded swf object on an html page, just to see if it had the same issue as what I'm experiencing when viewing on IE9-Vista. I went to nedwebs.com and it displays fine, but your site is a flash site, so it's not a true comparison to an html page with swf on the page. Then I found this TUTORIAL page, showing the "proper" way to embed a transparent flash object on an html page. The url is here, go look at the animated leaves swf file on this page to see what it is SUPPOSED to look like ...
    http://www.aleosoft.com/flashtutorial_transparent.html
Now look at the screen shot I have attached. This is how a "properly" embedded transparent swf displays on IE9 with Vista OS.
You're supposed to see a back-image as well as text through the leaves. On IE9-Vista you see none of this, only BLACK behind the swf, and just the left edge of the back image.

  • Firefox and Flash issues

This transparent flash works great in IE and you can click
the links under where the flash area is, sprys work...
    http://www.cjmracing.com/index_30.html
however in Firefox nothing under the transparent flash
    works?? any suggestions.

This is the Solution that I found, thing is Adobe added something called "Protection Mode" to Flash in 11.3 and you need to disable it and all is well.
To do that you need to restart your pc so you know flash is turned off other wise you can't modify the config files for it.
    For 32bit users:
    '''C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg'''
    For 64bit users:
    '''C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg'''
In both cases all you need to do is add:
    '''ProtectedMode=0'''
To the next line in the file and save it.
Worked for me, and I had been searching for weeks, if it works for you please do what you can to spread the word!

  • Can you export keynote to be transparent?

    hey guys,
new to the program. I'm trying to bring in a presentation into a site I built.
My nav bar keeps hiding behind it. I was curious if anyone had experience with getting it to almost act as a transparent flash movie. I've tried flash and .mov files, both hide my nav bar.
    alanc

I'm just starting to look around the forums for this question, so I haven't fully searched to be sure this hasn't been answered elsewhere....but, I wanted to chime in here because the original poster is bringing up an important issue that's only partially addressed by the video export issue.
I just took the plunge with Keynote 6, after producing dozens of podcast "lectures" for university courses over the past few years in Keynote 5, and am worried that the control over export to video that the user used to have in Keynote 5 is now lost. The real issue for me with video export of a narrated presentation was never the video quality/resolution. Rather, it was audio and its impact on file size. Experimenting with the same narrated presentation in the fall, I realized that changing the video/resolution didn't make much difference in the final .mov file size. Audio, however, made huge difference, on the order of 10 times smaller! Specifically, shifting the audio output (under the "custom" menu under "Quicktime Formats") from "Linear PCM" over to "AAC" (for instance) dropped the MB of file size per minute of recording from 16 down to 1.6.
So far as I can tell, there is no longer that level of granularity in controlling Quicktime export. Do you think I'm correct in that? Or, am I missing something here?

The program you used to compress the .flv did not include the
    required
Meta Data that the Flash video component requires.
If you're on Windows, you can insert the Meta Data by using
    the free
program found on the following Web site. If you're not
    comfortable with
the command line, download flvmdigui105.zip as well (it's a
    GUI
    interface to the main program).

There may be a Mac equivalent, or you might want to try a
    different

  • Flash animation extending out of the SWF movie into the 'non-flash' areas of the browser

    Hey Everybody --
So I was on myspace and I couldn't help but to notice that
one of the flash animated ads they were running had butcher knives
(it was for some horror movie) coming out of the movieclip and into
the browser. Does this make sense? Has anyone else seen this
awesome special effect yet? I have been trying to find information
on how to do it, I assume it is new in Actionscript 3 am I correct?
I can't find anything on it, not even a tutorial but then I don't
quite know what to search for either.
Can anyone explain how to do this or know what this special
effect is being called/what I should search for?? Can anyone direct
me to a tutorial or any information at all, I would greatly
    appreciate it.
    Thanks!

  • Flash videos and buttons are disappearing...?

I start my home with a site that has an editable reigon, and
a few flash buttons which are layered above a "transparent" flash
video, the video plays perfectly the first time. I proceed to click
on one of the links which leads me to another page with one of
these flash videos nestled behind yet more flash linking buttons
and a table, this also is working perfectly the first time. Then I
click yet another link from that page and am now at a simple page
that consists of only a background and 2 flash link buttons which
each lead back to the two previous pages described. If i click on
the link that leads to the first page the Flash buttons reman in
full working order on the 1st page but the video fails to start
playing again, even if I refresh. The same goes for if I click the

as well as the flash video failing to start. I am fairly new to
dreamweaver, but have been using flash for quite some time. I
cannot paste the codes here since they are way too long. please
tell me if you have any ideas on what I should do, your help is
greatly appreciated. Sorry about this post is confusingly worded.

  • WMODE Transparent Test

    Hi All,
Anyone who has VERY strong opinions on not using wmode
transparent, PLEASE DO NOT REPLY unti AFTER this test. Let's see
the results. Respectfully, Jeckyll, that means you.
I have heard from several people on this site to not use
wmode transparent. I have been using it for the past year with no
major side-effects and no major complaints from users. However, my
test audience has not been large. So in the interest of science, I
would like to conduct a test.
I have created two test pages using wmode transparent. My
experience is that wmode transparent in WIN/IE works fairly nicely.
Given that, I have set up the test pages so that non Win/IE
users will see a message box, saying,"This web page has enhanced
content viewable in Windows Internet Explorer." In the real world,
I would not display such a message, non Windows/IE users would see
the original .html page without the enhanced ("transparent flash")
    content. No-harm no foul.
So, please take a look at these two pages and interact with
them and tell me what you think. They are just quick and dirty test
pages so please, no comments on the designs - just what bugs if any
you experience - not what you have heard in the past, but actually
    experience YOURSELF.
