Transparent Graph in webi

Can we make the background of the graph transparent?
The requirement is to superimpose two graphs on each other the way we do it in Xcelsius.
Any help appreciated
Env : BO XI 3.1 or BO XI R 2 both RTM with no Servcie Packs

Thanks for your reply.
Requirement is to implement Alerter like functionality in to webi; however in XI r2 alerter does not work on Graphs.
So I was trying the workaround to create two graphs and keep them one above other fixing the relative position in webi.
Details as below :
1. The x axis on graph will display the dates
2. Y axis will displays any Measure object say Revenue
3. Z axis any dimension say Categories
The bars will have the colors as per the requirement; only when the dates are between some specific ranges, say 20Dec to 31 Jan then bars should appear grey.
This is something like Alerter on graph.
Hence I want the background of the graph to be transparent.
Any ideas how I can achieve this or may be alerter like functionality without upgrading to any newer version implement this?

Export graphs from Web report

Hi.
I need to copy graphs from web reports in 3.5.To do this, i have followed a roundabout:
1. Save the page as mht (web archive file)
2.Copy the image from there and paste into Powerpoint or wherever required.
Is there any better way to do it? Or can I bring the save as mht option in the context menu?
Is SAP addressing it any soon?
Also is there any way to send graphs in addition to the tables via the 'distribute as email option"?

When you broadcast using the standard template the template '0QUERY_TEMPLATE_BROADCASTING' is used for broadcasting. This template only has a navigation block and table item, this is the reason why the chart is not displayed in this template. If you create a custom template for broadcasting which has chart item in it you will be able to get the chart displayed (it will be always displayed.) See the attached link for custmoizing.

You can also override this behaviour if you attach the query to a custom web template, in this case when you broadcast you will get exactly what you see in the current report.

Basically you have two major steps:
1.you need to create the corresponding queries (with conditions on the key figures) in the Query Designer.
2. Open the Web Application designer and create three charts, set their properties, then drag them to the template , and finally link them to the corresponding queries/views.

I got this to work in the web layout. First, I modified the <BODY ...> tag to include a background image. Then I added the following code to the Web Source right before the </BODY> tag:
<rw:graph id="graph" src="G_1" series="dname" dataValues="deptno">

</rw:graph>The graph is transparent and the background image shows through it.
In the Paper Layout, this doesn't work - the transparent areas of the graph are black.

1. Set intervals on Y-axis values of the Webi report Charts from the Webi Chart Properties
2. Set the Interval of 500 with Y-axis value range 0 2000,such that the value should look like,0,500,1000,1500,2000
Reproducing the Issue
1. Create a Webi report from e-fashion with objects Year and Sales Revenue.
2. Run the Webi report>Turn to Column Chart.
3. Go to Chart properties>Y Axis>Scale
4.Here there are 2 options.
5. Min value, Max value however the major unit option is not available like one we have in Crystal Reports and Deski

This is a limitation in Webi report.
Resolution
Enhancement_Request ADAPT01202508 for this issue has been raised however there is no specific timeline as of now defined about which major release this feature will be included in.

I’m looking to post a live or running graph on the web - see attached picture. I know this is possible, but don’t want to reinvent the wheel if something is readily available for me to reference. I’m not looking for remote control on this – just want to be able to invite others to see the process. I’m in uncharted waters here and just now starting to think about the subject. 2 options come to my mind:
1) You can get the actual frontpanel by using a property node of the vi. Then you can save this picture to a "website" and link it within an HTML file with automatic refresh. (That's how I do it for internal purposes...)
2) You can enable remote control of your vi via web/internet explorer. Here the user can also look at your front panel.

Reports9i Builder does not create Graph for Web Source

I installed the new 9iDS and I'm trying to create a jsp page with a graph. If I create a graph in the paper layout it will run in paper layout only. After checking the web source code there is no <rw:graph ... > tag. If I try to insert the graph in the web source view I get REP-0069: Internal error REP-0: oracle/reports/RWExxception: 1.0. Is there a way to create graph for the web layout?.

This should work fine. I assume you created the report using the wizard. Did you by any chance choose to create a paper layout only?
Try the wizard option 'Create Web Layout only' or 'Create both Web and Paper Layout'.

Fade To Transparent Edge On Web Image

Hi,
We've got a website with an image that we'd like to fade cleanly into the background image. The current swing at this is: http://jchmusic.com
I'm -relatively- happy with it BUT the left and right margins above the tree should fade more cleanly into the green at the top (above the tree). Any suggestions on doing this? I did try using the Gradient Tool to fade to transparent it just isn't 'random' enough. ie. it always seems to create some sort of 'shape' when I do it rather than just being a smooth 'dodge' (if that's the right term.)
ALSO: There is the issue of -size-. I want the img to be as small as possible. I tried rendering it as a GIF and here is the result: http://jchmusic.com/index-gif.php
The pixellation actually looks kinda cool to us, but then we run into the problem of various parts near the left edge having transparent 'pinholes' where we don't want them.
Your thoughts?

Aha! Photoshop excels at doing things with brushes. There's a whole realm of brush stuff you'll want to get to know.
Activate the Eraser tool in the Tools panel.
Up at the top of the Photoshop main window look for Mode and set it to Brush if it's not already set.
There will be a brush selector. Click it and select a round brush, and make the Hardness 0% (i.e., fuzzy).
With this brush selected, you can erase things and leave them with varying opacity.
Another approach would be to add a layer mask to the layer with the image, then paint on the layer mask with the brush tool and a fuzzy brush. This has the advantage of your being able to adjust opacity either way, by painting black, gray, or white.
And then there's Airbrush mode...
Yep, you'll definitely want to learn about brushes.

Saving image with transparent background for web/Dreamweaver

How do I save a little image, so that the background stays transparent. I already have the image set up in Photoshop with a transparent background and have saved it as gif and png. When I import it into Dreamweaver the background stays white instead of transparent. What am I not doing right, since I read several posts saying that png and gif are the right formats to save in, if you want a transparent background?

Well now that you have told me to save with some sort of an alpha channel, it works perfectly.
In CS5:
Select layer,"Composition,Make movie". Then navigate to "Output module" and choose an option that has "alpha channel" in the title.Choose a name for your project "Output to". I now use "lossless alpha".I don't know if that is the best one, but it seems to be working fine.
There is no "Quicktime" option in CS5 as in older versions of AE.
I was trying to save as a video in general or for photoshop and that just wasn't working out well.
I don't know what the "Frames to Layers import assistant" is that you mentioned though. I still tend to drag and drop, rather then import.

Monitoring points on graphs in webi

i have a graph which have axis in quarterly and corresponding point shown as point in the graph quarterly but instead user want something like x axis should be shown quarterly and point on the graph should be shown monthly. like if it is q1 in axis it should show 4 points as per months in q1 on the graph
so here it is showing points on the graph as per quarter but wanted to see the points monthly but axis in quarter

We cant show the values of months by displaying category axis as quarter,you have to take month and quarter both as category axis.

AE CS5 render/export text to PS with transparent background for web?

I am sure that this question has been asked and answered one hundread times already, but i can't seem to find the answer.I have tried googling and searching these forums, perhaps i just have the wrong search peramiters.
I am trying to create and animate text via AE CS5 for a web site.I then want to use that in Photoshop CS5. I can't seem to find this option. I know that in the past you were supposed to render the text as a movie of sorts, but now i am just lost and confused on what to do.
If the answer is just too long to post here, could someone please post a link to a tutorial/answer?
I assume the answer will be a little different from CS4 to Cs5.

How to add a baseline in a line graph in Web Intelligence?

Is there a way to add a baseline in a line chart in Web Intelligence just like adding a custom Y-Axis grid line in Crystal Reports?

Nope, not a feature. However, if you "play" with building a column of numbers and use the Vertical and Bar Line Chart feature, you might be able to simulate a "baseline"......
