Transparent Watermark - how is it done?

I would like to add a Watermark to exported images - the images I export at the moment have the text on a white background - how can I create a watermark where the background is transparent and shows the image and only the text is in a solid colour.

i used photoshop and created it with a transparent background, based off of a tutorial that i found by using google ...

It's fairly easy if you know Ai. (Image trace is okay, but I'd recommend making your own (the right way), then use any Adobe pro video app to composite on your video, no need to export, just use the .Ai file)
But an easier way might be to use the .png by itself if it carries an alpha channel.
After Effects, PremierePro, and possibly AME will let you do this.
QT7 will also allow you to do it.
You could create a logo in Draw, then send it to Illustrator or Photoshop (it carries an alpha channel - bonus!)

could someone please explain to me how this is done? After you click on the link provided, go to the first image in the artile and click on the image that says "boo yah". it will expand to a large image with and x (close) button and the background of the original web page will be a dark transparency. I would LOVE to know how this is done. i'm working in dreamweaver and have limited knowledge of java and css. i'm good at figuring this stuff out once its in front of me. can you help or point me to a tutorial for this. i want to make an image gallery like this. thanks so much!

I'm trying to figure out how to use a logo in a website i'm designing similar to the way they use the 10 cane logo in the above website.
Specifically, the way it stays flush to the right side of the browser; it doesnt scale but it moves with the window when you size the browser narrower. I dont know what this is called to even begin to search for answers on how this is done. can anyone help me??

As I said, I don't use Time Machine, so it'd be best to wait for an "expert" answer, but, with my very limited knowledge, I'd say: probably not - so, for now, I'd suggest you read up on Time Machine:

you can still set both your iphones to use an email address even if both have different appleId's
the appleID is a handle not a link to an email address

You can create a Quicktime movie slideshow of the book's pages and share that. Here's how to get your book into an iPhoto slideshow and then export as a Quicktime video:
1 - While viewing the book type Command+P to start the print process.
2 - click on the PDF button and select "Save PDF to iPhoto".
Note: If you don't have any of those options go to Toad's Cellar and download these two files:
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Unzip the files and place in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder and reboot.
3 - select either of the files above (300 dip is used for photos to be included in a book that will be ordered).
4 - in the window that comes up enter an album name or select an existing album and hit the Continue button.
That will create a 200 or 300 dpi jpeg file of the item being printed and import it into iPhoto. Immediately select all of the photos in the new album and sequentially renumber them as "Page " using the Batch Change ➙ Title to Text with the option to add a sequential number to each title. This is to let you put the pages back in the correct order in the event they get sorted incorrectly.
Now you can proceed as follows: create the slideshow in iPhoto and export it out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar. Select Size = Medium or Large (480p with iPhoto 9),

Use the color fill option - select the inserted .pdf and assign a fill color of white to it using the Color Fill Menu on the Toolbar or the Color Picker Palette.

You can store your iTunes library on a Time Capsule. So that you can access on your local (home) network (I wouldn't recommend access via the internat), (off site.....to slow).
If you do decide to put your libray on Time Capsule I'd recommend doing this.
Option 1:
1. Don't use TC as a Backup (Time Machine).
2. Connect a USB drive to your TC or Computer and backup to the drive. Backup when a change is made to the library (adding Apps, Songs you get the idea).
Option 2: (What Im doing)
1.   Two Time Capsule's connected via ethernet cable (roaming mode, bridge).
2.   Use TC1 as a Time Machine backup
3.   Use TC2 as network drive. (The information on TC2 does NOT get backed up to TC1).
3a. Connect a USB, FW, drive to your desktop computer (if you have one) use SilverKeeper to schedule backups.       Silverkeeper will look at TC2 and back it up to a external or internal HD. I've been doing the or some time now. Or connect to your TC and do an archive.
I have this setup because I don't trust Cloud base services and I want access to my files (in Sync) on TC where ever I am, as long as there's a internet connection. It's expensive, but does exactly what I expect.
The most important thing is to safe guard your data in case of a failure.
In your situation it would probably be better to get a high speed SD or thumb drive, however I've never been successful in backing up those type of drives with TM. What ever you decide to do make sure you have a GOOD duplicate (backup).

Acceptable File Formats for Applying Transparent Watermarks In Compressor

I'm trying to use a .psd file as a transparent watermark in Compressor, but instead of Compressor seeing the watermark, it only sees a blank white sheet. Question: Do I have to have Photoshop installed on my Mac workstation in order to use a .psd as a watermark? Or is something else going on?
