Transparent window, Flash in html is invisble

If transparency set to false then flash shows up correctly.
However, if transparency is set to true with same settings then the
flash display disappears (isn't visible any more but the space that
it should use is used, but nothing is showning up).
Has someone else this problem? Or is it a bug air?

'Failed to register' is caused by inadequate/corrupted registry key permissions.
One possibility to fix it (does not work in some cases): How do I fix Windows permission problems with Flash Player?
Another possibility that I have just though of: can you try http://support.microsoft.com/mats/program_install_and_uninstall/
Also, have you tried to use the offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#mai n-pars_header ?

Transparent windows on Linux

Hi all,
My HTML/JS AIR app uses alpha-blended PNGs to apply a pretty window decoration on the desktop. On Mac and Windows, it looks great and works exactly how I would like. On Linux though (Ubuntu on VirtualBox) the transparency does not work, and I've got a big black border where the alpha blending should be.
Is this expected on Linux, and I should wrap a normal window around instead, or should I expect to see alpha blended windows behave and look the same as on Mac/Windows?

To be able to view transparent windows you need to enable desktop effects (this is not a limitation of AIR but of display managers). Unfortunately desktop effects cannot be enabled on virtual machines, you can only do that on a physical machine.

Cropped Flash in HTML

I am testing a carousel menu and have uploaded the test pages to www.garynewport.com.
If I run the flash directly (http://www.garynewport.com/menu.swf) then it runs as I want it to.
If I run it within an HTML page then it is smaller, tucked to the right and is cropped.
If I create the HTML within Flash (Publish) then the same problem.
Can anyone help me please?

I have just played around with CSS...and hopefully got what you are after.
I think KGLAD was correct in the beginning, your embed tag in the HTML is incomplete.
Here's what I did:
enclosed the <embed> tag around <object></object> tag. (this is the correct way to embed, Google "embed flash in html" for more examples)
set the style of <object> tag to be <object width="100%"> (this is optional, I just do it anyway...can't remember the reason)
wrape the <object> and <embed> in a <div class="spinning-menu"> (this is the best pratice, objects should get wrapped by divs, beside, its lot easier to assing divs with CSS classes and styles later on)
create a CSS class .spinning-menu { margin: 0 20%; }, this will center your spinning menu, leaving 0% margin at the top, while 20% margin left and right. The % are respective to the window/browser size, so that when you resize the window, the margins are maintained.
change the width property of the <embed> tag to be 100% (this is to ensure your flash shows 100% of the widths)
Just a screen shot....making sure this is what you are after....the white border is just to show you where is the <div>, not included as part of the steps above. As you can see, the movie is not at the center of the page, and not cropped (I could only see 1/2 of the blue men in your home page)

It's a stupid way of doing it, but I got it to work using the
FSCommand.
I send the user to a frame in the Flash movie. That frame has
the
variable set to the "On" state. I then have them go to
another frame for
the "Off" state.

Finder Window Flashes When Showing Preview Of Multimedia Files.

When Show Icon Preview is selected the finder window flashes(i.e, its gets highlighted and deactivated in a flashing manner) especially when previewing files of movies and pictures(PDF previewing is fine).The problem is there even in cover flow mode while loading the preview,and once the preview(thumnails) of files are done the finder behaves normal.When i checked the problem in another account it's working fine with out any problem in show icon preview mode,clover flow mode.I think the problem is a corrupted preference file.I tried deleting com.apple.finder.plist but its of no use...

You are using Perian?

A window flashes across my macbook screen to quickly to read after logging on what could be causing this ?

Hi im having trouble with an issue re my macbook pro. Over the last few days a window flashes on my screen within 30 secs of logging on. Its too quick to read. It only happens once. I never have had this problem before. I dont have great computer skills so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I have been trying to embed a flash swf document in a free
website hosting site called Weebly. You can add html code to it and
i have been reading up about the ways to embed flash in html. I
have tried all the codes but when you first save the file where
does it have to be saved?

I'm sure weebly have instruction for it and would be best to
try to search the site.
In most cases you upload the file to some folder and define
the path in your embed tag,
or upload to your hosting space and direct that path to the
file there.
As I said, each company practice differently, check with
them.

I need to load the HTML page in popup in AIR application without using any of the <mx> or <spark> components. I need to open in the application itself not in the browser.(If we use navigateToURL() it will open in th browser)

Dare I say 'transparent window'

Hi, like many people I would like to be able to create transparent windows, dialogs etc, but a little lost, well actullay a little less lost since yesterday!
I am OK with the C++ side, native-java and java-native etc, but not sure which C headers to use for my purposes, or infact where to find them. I have searched google quite a lot, and found many references to jniwrapper and other commercial solutions, but those people that do know how to do this seem very reluctant to share the secret.
Can anybody provide a bit of direction?

Preview app shows png image as transparent window

When I open a PNG file in Preview.app, it doesn't show the image. it just shows a transparent window the size of the image. I can preview the image in the Finder fine. Note the transparent window in the screenshot:
Is there a cache or preference file I should delete?

There are at least two different solutions within it - one involves a separate (free) program called Etrecheck, the other possible solution does not.
Did you recently update? And what system are you having this issue with? On the MBP or Mac Mini?

Dark transparent window overlayed all windows

There is a Dark Transparent 'window' that has overlayed it self on the screen. It is in the top Right Corner and I can not make it disappear...
Any ideas?

Is it LCD or CRT?
Could be the monitor:
1. Try it on another system!
If all else fails.
2. Try going into ColorSync Utility and playing around with the color settings and see what happens.
Try changing the resolution and colors, also if there are multiple Hz settings try changing them and playing around with that.
3.Still there? Try reseating the video card. No dice with that, and the same deal on another system then it's the monitor. If it's LCD it's probably the monitor.
Do it in whatever order is easier for you. I just felt like numbering them.

Really Transparent Windows...

I saw lots of examples to fake a transparent window, thats fine for me... but what i couldn?t find out is if there is any way to make the "transparent" parts NOT clickable...
when the user clicks the transparent part of the frame it passes this event to whatever is behind it.
Could someone help me!?

I just want to create a Frame that isn�t rectangular.. in order to have a circular Frame for example... I can make the frame transparent and make it have the appearence of a circular Frame, but when the user clicks the "invisible" parts of the frame (the ones that aren�t inside the circle), the Frame receives the event, and not the things that are behind it. Like, if i open the notepad and then my program over it, i see just the circle over the notepad, but when i click the parts of the frame i made transparent using Robot..., the focus goes to the Frame, and not to the notepad...

I am looking for a solution to make the background of a Windows Forms in a Windows Embedded Compact 7 device transparent. These approaches have failed:
- override void OnPaintBackground with empty code block
- using the open source project AlphaMobileControls

The way this would have to work ( afaik ) is you copy some proportion of the bits out the rectangle behind your window.
If you want low opacity rather than completely transparent you would merge them with whatever colour you want the background to look a bit like.
You'd be painting a picture onto the background in the onpaint.
If your user moves the "transparent" window then you need to copy the background from the new location.
If it were me I'd push back on the requirement.
