Transport datasource in r/3

hello BW Experts,
I have created a generic datasource on a already existing table, there is not extra logic involved.
i followed the below procedure to transport the datasource
1) se03 > change object directory entries > select object type R3TR OSOA Datasource active -- zgeneric_ds. and changed the tmp package to zbw package and assigned new request number.
now if i go to se09 > enter my id > i can see the object zgeneric_ds under my transport request.
is there any ohter object i need to include to complete the transport from dev to Q ?

i actually transported only the ds r3tr osoa type ofjbect datasource active -- zgeneric
when i go to BWQ > rso2 > double click the zgeneric ds > try to open the extracts structure it has error 'extract structure ZOXR3D0389 is invalid'
and when i try to transport this structure ZOXR3D0389
se11 > ZOXR3D0389 > object directory entry > its $tmp > i am changing to zbw, it does not let me change, it gives a error message 'You have no authorization for MODIFY (authorization object S_DEVELOP)'

I am getting an error, while trying to transport Datasource into quality system. The Transport request log says that "Program terminated (job: RDDEXECL, no.: 11372100)"

My issue is still not resolved.
Now the error that I am getting while transporting the Transformation is
Program terminated (job: RDDEXECL, no.: 12091300)
The SM37 job log says that
"Job started

ABAP/4 processor: GETWA_NOT_ASSIGNED
Job cancelled"
When i see the dump in ST22. It says that it could not find entry in one of the tables

   WITH KEY target_stepid = 0
            targetsegid   = <fs_posit>-rulesegid
            targetposit   = <fs_posit>-ruleposit
            targetid      = 0.
Sy-subrc <> 0 for this read.

Transporting DataSources in (ECC) problem

Hi SCN,
Just wanted to ask if these are only the two important nodes when collecting and transporting an enhanced datasource?
I am currently transporting datasources from ECC DEV to ECC QAS. When reviewing my datasources in QAS, append structures were not transported.
- What I did here was to transport datasources from RSA6. I though it would carry all the changes made in the datasource but it was just the active datasources.
So I collected the datasources again in a new TR; collecting the requests only in one TR (as per discussions in SCN). First is re-activating the append structure; putting it in a new TR, then collecting the active datasource.
I am just having doubts if I am missing a step since the (Go To -> Object Directory Entry) is not letting me make a new transport inside the extract structure (double clicking the datasource; double clicking the extract structure; then object directory entry), thus, I am not able to collect the standard extract structure table (or is this because the datasource I am transporting is a standard one?).

I always thought that I need to collect it in one TR (Active datasource, Extract Structure and Table Structures). But, it was okay to have the append structure in another TR.
What I did was to transport the DataSource then followed by the append structure's TR. It's all good now.

8ZC_PRCUSTM and 8ZC_PRCUSTT are datasources generated by system when we do generate export datasource for infoobject,
the flag indicates that characteristic has export datasource,
normally generate export datasources are not transported but done in target system, for infoobject you can try rsa1->infosource->find your characteristic ZC_PRCUST, and right click 'generate export datasource'
(do replicate datasource from bw myself source system if necessary)

My requirement is to transport datasources, enhancements etc from CRM dev to CRM qa as they are stored in package $TMP I donot want to miss any objects in transporting from dev to qa. would anyone explain me how to collect each and every object thatis datasources, enhancements etc from $TMP and move into Zpackage. Hi,
Try to collect all the dependent objects manually and when you try to transport it, it will ask for a request qherein you need give the package name first and then create a request and transport it.

Transport datasource 0FI_AP_4 on R3 gets warning msg

RSA6 on R3 and select the datasource 0FI_AP_4, click the truck picture icon which is "Transport datasource", get a warning msg:
"Warnings have occurred (see log)", click the question mark for log, but still get the same short msg. What could be the reason?
The reason why we are doing this is that we found a new field added to the structure and correspondingly the datasource fails to show up in the target system after transported.

If your ES in DEV has more filed than ES of QA/PROD , then yiou need to release and import the transport request of that change to ES.
Without tranporting the change to ES first ,you are trying to transport the request of DS(which internally depends upon the ES) ,so you are getting warning.

Error while transporting Datasources in Production

Dear All,
I have facing a problem while transporting objects pertaining to BI Cockpit in Production.
Earlier I had transported all the obects (in more than one transports) in Quality (from Development). After testing the objects, I had imported the same number of transports (and in the same order) to Production and now some of the requests have ended in errors like:
DataSource 0TCTWHMTFM_TEXT does not exist in source system PW1CLNT003 of version A
Such errors have occured for most of the Datasources.
Can anyone let me know
1) Why the transports have failed while importing in Production when similar requests have been transported successfully to Quality.
2) The possible solution to correct the error.

There are no R/3 Datasources involved. Our BI Cockpit landscape is based upon only BI system. No data transfer to take place between R/3 and BI.
Secondly, you mean to say that I need to replicate my Source system in Production and then proceed with the transporting of the requests from Dev to Prod.
But I never did the same in Quality while transporting from Dev. Is it that it might have been done in Quality beforehand by someone ?
Also, when the Datasources have not been transported to Production (resulting in error) then how can i replicate these datasources in Production ???
Let me know if I have not understood correctly.

Hi Davis,
Before transporting transformation make sure either of source or target should availble in target system.
suppose you have a transformation between Data source and Data Target, first transport Data source, then transport Transformation along with data target.
Before tansporting Transformation either source or target should be avaialble in QA system..then only transportation will happen smoothly..

Error with transporting datasource

Hello,
I have an issue activating a datasource. I created a generic datasource called 'ZHIP_TD_CLOSE_INV_BALANCE' within BW - i.e the source is BI and NOT R/3. I created transformation from datasource to Cube and loaded data. Everything is working fine. Now when I transport the datasource from Dev to Quality the transport failed. The error log says 'InfoSource ZHIP_TD_CLOSE_INV_BALANCE is not available in source system WP1CLNT310' & 'Error when activating DataSource ZHIP_TD_CLOSE_INV_BALANCE WP1CLNT310'. I do not have an infosource to begin with. So then when I go and try to activate the datasource in Quality, I get the same message i.e. 'InfoSource ZHIP_TD_CLOSE_INV_BALANCE is not available in source system WP1CLNT310'. How do I fix the error and get the transports through? Remember, the existing config works fine in Dev. Thanks for your help in advance.

what objects are you trying to transport along with the data source ? If you have transfer rules along with this request then might be you would get this error. Also check if your source conversion is maintained correctly. you can check that in RSA1 > Tools > Conversion of Source system names.
Here maintain the system conversion. Once done, recreate a transport request with only data source and transport. Once done replicate and transport your other objects.

Regarding transporting datasource from DEVB system to QA system

Hi,
Which Source System (DB-Connect) is connected to your BW QA system. You have maintain Source system mappings for datasource transports
AWB --> Tools --> Mapping of the source system names..
Once you have configured this screen, you would be able to transport your datasource.

Cannot Transport Datasource 0BBP_BPART_BUYID_ATTR from CRM Dev to CRM QA

Dear Experts,
I goto RSA 6 and select the Datasource 0BBP_BPART_BUYID_ATTR.
I then goto Object Directory and set the development package. It creates a new request which can be seen in SE09.
I have not yet released this request.
I now reselect this datasource in RSA6 and click on Transport Icon. No new request is created and the logs show:
The even-numbered length of the DEC field MEM_HOUSE can lead to problems
Message no. R8569
Diagnosis
You want to use the field MEM_HOUSE in the extract structure for DataSource 0BBP_BPART_BUYID_ATTR. This field has a field of type 'DEC' (or 'CURR' or 'QUAN') with an even number of characters.
This can create problems since the length resulting from calculations in ABAP (for example, in extractors or Customer Exits for extraction) is too large to be inserted in the database later (PSA in BW), causing a short dump.
Procedure
This warning is only relevant when the maximum length of this field is exceeded during extraction, for example when the field is expanded in the Customer Exit through a calculation.
More information and a remedy can be found in SAP Note 641744.
I have not made any changes to this Datasource. It is the standard one.
Since no new request is created, this datasource cannot be transported.
Any ideas or solution???

Hi Raj Jain,
Goto se03 in the CRM system -> Change Object Directory -> type in R3TR OSOA and enter the object 0BBP_BPART_BUYID_ATTR and execute. Assign the package and it should prompt for a transport request.

Datasource transport in BI 7.0 in SCM 5.0 fails

System Specification - SCM 5.0 with BI 7.0 SP10.
Is there a way to transport a new datasource created from a planning area from Dev -> QA. Right now I have tried many times to transport datasources and all of them have failed. In the past we had to either open the system or use a User with SAP_ALL and manually activate these datasources and then transport the remaining objects DTP's, TRNFMs etc.
Any other way to activate datasources, other then manual method.

Hi Satish,
You want to transport transformations. This transformation can be between datasrc and the infocube or any such 2 objects.
The target system where you want to transport this should have these 2 objects. They must be active in the target system.
If not then the request which you will transport should also have these 2 activated objects along with the transformation.

Normally when you get the screen to select and hide the fileds and then save it, you will get the extract structure collected automaticaly in your TP request.

DataSource-Transport in R/3 does not work

Hello everybody,
we're currently having some trouble with transporting DataSources in the SAP R/3 out of the transactions RSA6 (for standard DataSources) or RSO2 (for generic DataSources).
system environment:
We're using three R/3-Systems (deployment, integration and production) and two BI-Systems (deployment/integration as one and production) with the folowing connections:
BI-production <- R/3-production
BI-deployment/integration <- R/3-integration
nothing <- R/3-deployment
This problem only occurs in the R/3-deployment-system.
problem:
Usually a transport request pops up if you edit a DataSource. In our case nothing happens. We can transport the ExtractStructure without any problems. But the DataSource itself cannot be transportet. So we have to do every single change in the R/3-integration-system again. This is leading to the issue that the two elements of a DataSource (the ExtractStructure and the DS itself) have two different original-systems.

Maybe its helpful to say that the key-problem is that the system doesn't create an a-version (object type OSOA) of the DataSource.
If you activate a content-DS in RSA5 you normally add an a-version of the DS to the already existing d-version (object type OSOD) of that DS. And if you create a generic DS you normally also create an a-version of that DS.
In our case that doesn't happen. And that's the reason why we cannot transport the DS.
But - as I sad - this problem only occurs in our development-system.

BI Content Remote Activation of Datasource - Transports

During the process of installing BI content in the Dev BW Environment, I am promted to login to the source system (CRM DEV in this case) so that the BI content datasources can be activated and replicated remotely. This process works fine.
The question I have is the following.
When I tranpsort all the BW BI content objects from our DEV BW environment to the BW QA environemt, do I still need to collect the activated datasources in the source system (CRM DEV ) and also transport them to CRM QA ?
Or does the remote activation and replication of the datasources(in the source system-CRM QA) happen automatically when i transport the BW BI content objects from DEV BW to BW QA.

I don't think, the remote activation and replication of the datasources(in the source system-CRM QA) happen automatically BW QA.
In BI 7.0, the general practice is, first u have transport datasources from ECC Dev to ECC QA...Then replicate these datasources in BI QA.
In most of the cases, these replicated datasources becomes inactive in BI QA.
To over come this, after the replication, u should transport Datasources from BI DEV to QA, so that this DS overwrites replicated (inactive) ones from ECC.
