Transport hierchies and sourcesystem
hi friends,
how can i transport hierchies and source system from development to quality in bi 7.0
Thanking u
suneel.
Hi Suneel,
Did you create data this manually? If yes, then you need to recreate it in the other system. If it was loaded, then make sure the same datasource is transported to the Q system on the source side and then laod the data. If there is no source, and it is too big to recreate, then you can try to download the hierarchy to a flat file (in Dev) and upload it in the Q stsem...there are how to documents to do this.
Hope this helps...

What is difference between transport protocol and message protocol
what is difference between transport protocol and message protocol
please give definition and small explanationHi,
Transport protocol gives information about outside of message details, kind of system, security details.
A transport protocol is a network protocol that has the capability of transferring some payload from one node to another, thus providing some level of transparency from the underlying network.
Transport protocols are used as a mechanism to move payloads around a network. Typically, a payload will have a transport binding associated with it. For example, SOAP (acting as a payload) has a predetermined binding for HTTP (a transport protocol).
Some common transport protocols include: HTTP, HTTP-R, SMTP and BEEP.
Message protocol gives you an idea of message type XI payload

Anil u2013 Active datasources were included in the original transport. I tried retransporting and got the same error messages.
Voodi u2013 0ACCOUNT_TEXT was resident in the Q system as a 3x datasource. I replicated it as a 70 datasource in D and this is what was transported to Q. It is a 7.0 datasource in Q. I got the same error messages when I tried transporting just the transformations.
Jayaram - 0ACCOUNT is active in the Q system and is currently being used in transformations other than the one Iu2019m trying to import.
Godhuli u2013 I not only re-replicated the datasource in D, I reactivated the transformations and DTPs and resaved the InfoPackages. I tried retransporting with a new transport request and it failed with the same error messages.
Is there anything else anyone can think of?

Do you have any routines in the transformation you are trying to transport. Looks like its missing some routines that needs to be transported.
Hope that helps. -
Transport layer and transport package
I have a fundamental query on transport package and layer.
Objects are classified in packages depending on the project and put in $TMP or test package else they are local ? Only objects belonging to a transport package can be transported , others are not ? How transport package is defined ? All objects must be a part of transport package else can not be transported ?
ABout transport layer, I understand this is used to define which path objects will take during transport particularly when there are multiple transport routes. But what are the advantages of it ? How we can define it (trx code/menu path) ?
Is it mandatory to use transport package and layers ?Hi Mike,
Just to clarify a few basic concepts:
A transport package (formerly called a "development class", a term you may still encounter) groups related development objects. Whenever you create a new development object (table, program, ...) you have to assign it to a package; the object is then placed into a transport request. Alternatively you can indicate it is a local object (its package is then "$TMP") but such an object is non-transportable.
A transport layer identifies the route that transportable devmt objects must follow. Typically in your system you will have two layers: a layer usually called Zxxx (with xxx = SID of your development system) is used for your own developments. Another layer called "SAP" is used for transporting SAP objects, for example changes to standard SAP code implemented via transaction SNOTE and recorded in repairs. Without the "SAP" layer in place, repairs would be non-transportable.
Each transport package belongs to a layer. You assign the layer when you create a new package in transaction SE80. You can change the layer later on, but this is rarely needed and can cause quite a few side-effects. SAP objects always have layer "SAP". The layers themselves are managed in STMS, under "Transport Routes".
Hope this clarifies things,
Rgds, Mark -
What's the difference between transport route and transport layer
what's the difference between transport route and transport layer,Can somebody give me some explaination? thks in advance!
Hi,
Transport Layer in ABAP Workbench
The Change and Transport System supports the distribution of development
work on large projects across multiple SAP Systems.
The packages in each development system are grouped into one transport
layer.
The transport layer determines whether objects are assigned to a local
or transportable change request.
Use
Each of your SAP development systems is assigned a transport layer as
its standard transport layer. If you use Extended Transport Control, you
can assign different standard transport layers to certain clients.
You can define at the most one consolidation target for each SAP System
and transport layer.
When you create a package, it is assigned the standard transport layer
of the SAP System.
If you want to assign a different transport layer to a package, you
require the administration authorization for the Change and Transport
System.
The objects in a package automatically have the transport attributes
defined for the corresponding transport layer.
o If a consolidation route originating in their SAP System is defined,
then the objects are assigned to a transportable request, and
transported into the consolidation target when it is released.
o If a consolidation route is not defined, the objects are assigned to
a local request, and are not transported.
Customizing settings are not assigned to a package. They have the
transport attributes of the standard transport layer of the system or
client.
It is best to assign a package a standard transport layer for which a
consolidation route originating in the development system is defined.
To display and maintain the transport layers and routes, use the
Transport Management System (transaction STMS).
Only the system adminstrator can make changes.
Caution:
The tables TSYST, DEVL, TWSYS, TASYS are no longer productive as of
Release 4.0A and cannot be maintained.

Issue with Transporting Trans and Comm Structure
Hi Experts,
Recently we moved an Infosource ( with Transfer structure and Comm stucture) from D to Q. After movement we checked teh Transport log and we see a warning that says
" R3TRROUT458SEFRDF2PUBJRIZGZAOPSNB not found, object also deleted in target system"
From teh object name it appears like a routine. But how do we know the actual name of the routine so that we can see in find out and compare betwn systems.
Thanks
DVMCHi,
If you want to find the objects using only technical name, use the table TADIR.
In your case execute this table and give the technical name
'458SEFRDF2PUBJRIZGZAOPSNB' (Removed R3TR and ROUT).
Then you can get the routine details.

Transport roles and analysis authorization with user assigned
Hi expert,
I face with this problem transport roles and analysis authorization with user assigned. When I have created a transport request to move the roles and analysis authorization from development system to test system. I couldnu2019t maintain the user assigned, after transport I have to assigned manually all of user or create a program to fill AGR_USER table or there are other way.
Thanks for your time,
LuisHi,
In role administration, you have the following options for transporting roles:
You can download the roles from one system and upload them into another
You can import the role from a remote system using RFC
You can transport the roles with the transport function.
Role upload loads all role data, including authorization data from a file into the SAP system. The user assignments for the role and the generated profiles for the role are exceptions in this case.
Transporting Roles with the Role Transport Function
1. Start the role administration function by choosing Tools ® Administration ® User Maintenance ® Role Administration ® Roles (transaction PFCG).
2. Enter the role to be transported and choose Transport Role.
The Mass Transport of Roles screen appears. You can control the default settings for the options Also transport single roles for composite roles and Also transport generated profiles for roles using Customizing switches (see Role Administration Functions in the section Functions of the Utilities Menu).
You should not change the authorizations profiles of the role after you have included the role in a transport request. If you need to change the profiles or generate them for the first time, transport the entire role again afterwards.

hi experts,
can anybody tellme how u transport requets and how u transport objects.hi,
You can check all the requests in SE01 or STMS.
You should know how STMS works at least.
In STMS you normally select the system (DEV/QA/PRD) for which you want to look at transport requests. After selecting the relevant system, you normally get to see the 'IMPORT QUEUE'. This means the following:
(make sure you press the REFRESH button first)
1) transport requests in the import queue of your QA system are not imported yet. (imported ones, you can find back via the menu by selecting the 'IMPORT HISTORY'.
So if you want to find out about requests that are already on your QA system, but NOT on your productive system, you just select PRD , and look at your import queue for this particular system. These transports that you see there are ALREADY imported on QA , but not yet on the production system.
Case Closed I would say, not??
The only thing that might make my statement 'uncertain' is if the company has a specific 'approval procedure'. For example, suppose you have released a new development on your development system. An automatic job imports every hour all released transports from your development system into your QA system. (ofcourse you can always manually import a request).
Now after an hour the request is automatically imported on your QA system and you can do the necessary Unit and Integration testing.
Now, under normal circumstances, after import of your request on the QA system, in STMS it will automatically appear in the import list of the production system.
In case of the approval procedure however, you first might need to select tested requests, select them, approve them (via an approval button ) and run a job to release all approved requests. Only after they are released by the job, they will appear in the Import Queue of the production system.
But ok, I only saw this in practice at one customer so far...but just that you know

Transport planning and shipping condition
What is the meaning of transport planning and shipping condition,
Please explani<b>Shipping Conditions (VSBED):</b>
General shipping strategy for the delivery of goods from the vendor to the customer.
You can define shipping conditions in your system which corresponds to the requirements of your company. You can specify a shipping condition in the customer master and in the vendor master.
The loading group, the plant and the shipping condition determine the shipping point that will be proposed by the system.
Apart from the country and the geographical region of the shipping point, the ship-to party and the transportation group, the shipping condition determines the route that the system proposes in the order for the delivery of the goods. In the delivery, the route proposal also takes the weight group into account.
<b>Transportation Planning:</b>
Transportation Planning is part of the Transportation Planning/Vehicle Scheduling (TP/VS) application and is used for medium to long-term planning. It enables the transportation planner to optimally distribute the available capacities for trucks, trains, ships, and planes. The aim of Transportation Planning is to load capacities in the most efficient way and reduce costs. Most customers currently rely entirely on external shipping companies to carry out an optimal transportation of goods, which means that punctual and cost-effective deliveries are a high priority.

Transport Questions and Questionnaires from Dev to QAS or to PRD
Question
How do we transport questions and questionnaires from dev to QAS or to PRD. Do you type all them again or there is process no. What is best process others do
Answer
As you must be aware, Questionnaires are updated from a Recruiter start page in the front end which cannot be saved in a change request.
At least Iu2019m not aware of any other way to move the Questionnaire details across clients.
I know that it is quite a bit of a task to repeat the activity of maintaining questions and response in questionnaire/s across clients, particularly When you have to maintain big questionnaires (with lots of questions & multiple responses). But As it is , Process templates, Questionnaires have been considered as a recruiters day-to-day administration task in SAP which has to be done from the front end even in live environment
Any body has soloution ?

Transport PC and CC master data
Hi,
Can we transport profit and cost center master data? I didn't see that option on menu when I created one.
Also, I tried transporting std hierarchy, which is allowed and in there I checked Profit center master data to be transport along. But my questions are:
1. Whether complete list is transported or are only the Profit center under the highlighted node get transported?
2. Do they get copied into other clients in active/inactive state?
3. Does the transport carry only the changes or the complete hierarchy?
Please advise!
Thanks!
N.1. If the hierarchy was already created and transported and now I make some more changes to it, will the transport carry the whole of hierarchy or only the changes.
Entire Hierarchy
2. Though there is a check box for only std hierarchy, still does that mean both std and alternative hierarchy will be tranported.
I think just the std hierarchy
3. There seems to be no way I could select the cost/profit centers specifically in these transactions. Does that mean all the profit and cost centers in the client will get transported.
Yes
4. I am assuming they will be transported in active state if activated in originating client. Is that correct?
Yes
Using above transaction, it is always suggested to transport hierarchy, profit centers and groups together; as groups are just sets and if not transported could cause inconsistencies in the target system.
Here is SAP's recommendation on transporting PC master data.
Recommendation
1. Always transport the following objects together to avoid inconsistencies in the target system:
The standard hierarchy and the profit center groups represent logical sets of profit centers. Transporting these sets separately could lead to inconsistencies if the corresponding profit centers (master data) do not exist or are incorrect in the target system.
2. If you have transported profit centers, restart the matchcode data in the target system so that the transported master data can be displayed using the "Possible entries" function.
