Transport in BPC..

In BPC 7NW ...what are the various objects tranport from Development to quality or production system?
Is the following objects need to transported?
Dimensions
Applicatio
Developments Abap programs
Transport the packages
Transport the business rules
Custom Process chain

Task access and member access profiles are transported, but not users and teams.  This is a secuity issue.  Of course, you must know that in most(if not all) SAP systems, users are not transported throughout the landscape, BPC NW is no exception to this.
That document that I linked to was NOT produced by me or the solution management team, but does offer a lot of information which had been produced by our team in one way or another.  If it says that conversion and transformation files are not transported, then it is wrong.  Conversion and transformations files ARE transported when the appset is transported.
You are not required to transport the custom process chains, which are used by an AppSet, before transporting the appset, but it would be a good practice to do so.

  • Best approach for backup and transport (NW BPC 7.5)

    Hi,
we are currently in a situation, where we have developed a prototype in a Q (quality) envoirnment. This has been a standalone system sofar.
Now we have a Development->Quality->Production envoirnment - and I want to move my prototype from the Quality system to my Development system.
I'm thing about the "UJT_BACKUP_RESTORE_UI" program. I will not copy masterdata and transactional data.
My question is now. Is it possible to backup my Appset prototype in Quality and restore it under a new Appset Name in development, and then put in it a transport request ?
Or would I have problems with technical names for cubes and dimensions ?
What is the best approach ?
    Thank you,
    Joergen

    Hi,
First of all, you should have posted your question in the BPC for NW forum.
Coming back to your question, you can try the transaction UJBR. You can take the backup of metadata / masterdata / transaction data or any combination of those.
I wont suggest you to change the name of the backup files. Instead, you can create a copy of the appset and then take the backup and restore it in DEV.
    Hope this helps.

  • Transactional data transport in BPC NW 7.0

    Hi experts,
Is there any way to transport the transactional data on BPC NW 7.0?
    We have next scenario:
Data Load: only flat file, input schedules and journals.
After the initial data loading from flat file, manual adjustments have been saved through the journal templates.
Can we extract all the data from the legal application to a flat file to be able to upload all the data in produtcion(including the manual adjustments)?
Is there any way to create a transport request from dev to prod to include the transactional data?
    Regards.

There is a How-to Guide which explains how to [export BPC data|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/bpx/index?rid=/library/uuid/b0427318-5ffb-2b10-9cac-96ec44c73c11&overridelayout=true].  I would imagine you would use that process to create a file which could then be loaded to your target system.

  • Transport of Delta Initializations in SAP BPC 10

    Hi All,
I have created "Delta Initialization" in Organize Delta Initialization in BPC Development system. While running the corresponding Data manager package for Delta loads, I have selected the Delta Initialization created and everything is working fine.
Now I need to transport the "Delta Initialization" created in Development system to other environments (For Example, Quality System). But I did not find the Delta Initialization created in Development system during transports. Is there any way I could select these objects (Delta Initialization) during transports?
Please help me in finding the solution for this issue.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ramesh.

    Hi,
This means that Package Links calling Delta Initialization also have to be recreated in every other environment ? There is still a lot a manual actions to do when transporting a BPC NW application ; integration with NW Transport System is still not complete...
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Transport strategy for BPC

    Hi all,
Is there a transport strategy for BPC.  How do we move changes made in the development to the testing to the production environment?  How do we transport the changes?  Is it done manually or does BPC have a feature that automatically transport the changes?  Does BPC keep automatically track of the changes?
    Thanks.

I think this OP's message was posted in the wrong forum.  In any case, there's a whitepaper on the transports for BPC 7.0NW.

Just follow the docs in "How Tou2026 Automate BPC 7.0, version for the NetWeaver Platform Master Data Loads from BW to BPC"
where you will get detail step-by-step procedure to load data.
    Check the url:

  • 16: The transport tool terminated due to an internal error(transport req)

    Hi friends,
i created one transport request for transporting custom appset to quality system.
while importing in quality i'm getting request in red color. checked log:
    Unexpected EOF after 88079651 bytes
    Ended with return code:  ===> 16 <===
16: The transport tool terminated due to an internal error.
we intially transported Non BPC cubes, along with that infoarea name(/cpmb/bpc) came. But i'm able to see several /cpmb/xx infoobjects. I manually moved from infoarea(/CPMB/BPC) to other infoarea(ybpc) with new request in quality. next i'm trying to delete /cpmb/xx infoobejcts through one program(around 700 infoobjects are exists). can i use ujt_content_activate program to delete contents of appset, if i use that program what i have to mention in content version field? can anyone eloborate usage of ujs_activate_content? we are on bpc75nw sp04
any suggestions pls to import request correctly.
    thanks,

continution to above question. sequence of things happend in our side.
Few BW cubes(not bpc), which are getting data from bpc applications(bpc cubes) via APD are transported. Imported to quality succesfully.
Next  transferred around 5 BADIs(classes & enhancement implementations) to quality system, which were written for moving data among bpc applications as well for few calculations in plng applications. Succefully imported into quality system and checked respecive BADIs.
Next trying to transport custom appset. while importing facing above problem. Followed SAP how-to guides/methods.
    any suggestions pls.

  • How to consolidate BPC system into existing BW system

    Hi
We have BPC system running only BPC (extract data from BW) it is
    801sp02 (abap/basis 731 sp5) and we have also a BW system 731sp8.
Now we want to have just one single BW system, and to integrate the BPC
    functionality into the BW system.
    1) Any advise on how to consolidate BPC system into a BW system (technically any implementation
    wise) ?
    2) What are the implementation consideration? How to transport the BPC configuration and
transaction data from the BPC system into the BW?
    3) Technical basis wise seems to be simple to me, just import the BPC addon and SPes using SAINT (done already)
    Thanks,
    Moti

    Hello,
As you mentioned you can use SAINT to install BPC in your BW system.  After installing BPC then you can use UJBR to backup your environments from the other system and restore them in your new BPC system.
My only recommendation is that if you are going to upgrade BPC you should do it in your source system and after testing then do the backup and restore to the new system.

  • Transports taking time (collection & creation)

    Hi Friends,
Observed system taking long times for transfer of environment to collection area(Transports) and as well collection of objects for transport.
What might be reason ? Even request creation , releasing of requests also takes time.

  • How to collect the BPC parameters into a transport

    Hi All
We are in process of transporting out environment for the first time. How are we going to collect all the entries of the BPC parameters in a transport request.
I want to collect all the entries of the UJ0_PARAM_APP table to a transport request.  is this we need to do or It has to be manually done when the system is installed in higher environments.
    Please advise.
    Thanks in advance
    AK

    Hi AK,
First of all, not all BPC parameters are transportable. Main reason is that they don't always have to have same value across the landscape. For example, you might want having LOG and STATS set to ON in Dev, but not in Prod. Another reason is that some of them will be generated during first write-back.
Most of the parameters are included in transport if you check Configuration check mark in BPC transport collection.
If you still have some parameters that didn't come over you can manually include them in the transport as Type "Table Entry".

    Gersh

  • Transport of Security objects in BPC 7.5NW

As a part of NW BPC transports, changed the entries in table UJT_TRANS_CHG. For the 1st transport (from DEV to QA)wanted to transport ALL objects including Security and Teams. So, selected 'Development' for ALL objects under this table.
After the transport collection via tcode UJBPCTR and importing into QA, found that 'Users', 'Teams'  and 'Task Profiles' did NOT transport. 'Member Access Profiles' did transport to QA.
I expected 'Users', 'Teams'  and 'Task Profiles' also to be transported. We are on SAP BPC 7.5NW, SP4.
Am I missing something here ?
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi
we had the same problem and didn't know if Security objects could be transported, but we found the BPC User Mass Management Tool.
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/d0cdbccf-0def-2d10-298d-f4223de9a6ed&overridelayout=true
This could help you to export the security objects in DEV and import the objects in PRD.
The transports you need for the ZUJE_MASS_USER_MGMT   Programm you found on page 46 in the document mentioned above.
Please let me know if we could help you.

  • Transport Control in SAP BPC 7.0 M

    Hi,
We are an IT company with more than 250 reporting units.  We intend to implement SAP BPC 7.0 M in our organisation to unify our forecating and reporting process across reporting units. I gather that there is no transport tool available in BPC to transport from development to quality to production. I am curious to know if SAP has provided a best practice for controlling changes to production. What is the best method to ensure that an administrator or a developer does not incorrectly make changes in the production system?
Also how do we convince our internal infra guys that changes have to be made directly in production? We have a central team for remote hosting all our systems and they have raised some following questions related to the security/disaster recovery aspects.
    a. What is the backup and recovery procedure in case something happens to the production system.
    b. Is there a best practice that I could refer to with respect to transports to convince them.
I am trying to prepare a document to convince them. I have got come inputs from sdn but I would really like an authoritative source to better understand this. Any answers/help would be highly appreciated!
    Rgds
    Shivram.

    Hi Shivram,
for diaster recovery, you can just use the backup/restore functionality in BPC server manager. Where an admin can schedule it. Even you can use the SQL backup functionality, but if you use this you need to manually backup the fileshare folder.
Regarding Transports, yes when the project is already in production, it is a bit dangerous to use the backup/restore functionality as we will loss the production system data. So need to use the dev/QA system to develop and test it and later do the changes manually in production system. Before take a backup of production system, then you will be safe.

  • BPC 7.5NW - Transports

    Hello Gurus,
We just did some enhancements in our Appset in the DEV environment and should now promote these enhancements to the QA and PROD systems.  We want to use transports to accomplish this.  I am aware of the following:
    1.  We will have to move the entire Appset as one object from the DEV environment to the QA and PROD systems
    2.  To do step 1, we should put together a transport using T-code UJBPCTR
    3.  SAP BPC will use the concept of "Shadow tables" to figure out the objects that were changed, and will move those to the new environments.
    4.  We log in to the new environments and perform testing.
Did I miss any of the key steps in the whole process?
Also, please let me know how to debug if something doesn't get transported properly.
    Thanks for all your help.
    Best regards,
    Van.

    Hi Van,
For your queries relating to the Transports please check the BPC 7.5 NW Operations Guide (available in SMP) pg no. 43.

  • Transporting BPC 10 from Development to Production

    Hi all,
I am working on a BPC 10 project and it is time for us to test in production.
I am aware of two main routes to go from a Dev to Prod system, the first of which I attempted yesterday:
    1. BW Transport
    - Set the environment offline
    - Log in to BW
    - Transaction code RSA1
    - Transport Connection
    - Object types > More types > Environment > Select Objects ([see link|http://i39.tinypic.com/2wrpun6.png])
    - We did select quiiiite a lot of data to transport which may have been an issue - everything in the environment
    - Ticked all the objects on the right hand side, then clicked the van saying 'Transport Objects'
    - We then logged into SE 10 and released the transport: ([see link|http://i44.tinypic.com/2gw9ir8.png])
    2. Backup and Restore using UJBR transaction
    - Back up the whole environment
    - Restore onto production
    The issue
    - We have only done the first method as understand the UJBR one is a bit of a workaround and not as reliable
    - We had an exceptionally high number of logs generated, causing the log drive to fill up and Short Dump in ST22
    - It generated 8GB of logs on the Development server after the first attempt, we backed up and cleared out the logs and re-transported a new request which generated 45GB of logs - causing the same 'transactional log file' issue
Does anyone have any advice in terms of  BPC 10 transports? We found a decent how-to which essentially just walked us through part 1, then we've been checking ST22, SLG1 Analyse Application log, SM21 System log, and DB12 to check capacity to try and problem solve..
    Thanks!
    Nick

Hi Rich - thanks for your advice.
I've taken your advice on board and deselected virtually everything to transport, with the exception of the model, model dimensions and an input schedule.
This is the selection this time around: http://i44.tinypic.com/a4ahw7.png
I then clicked the'Transport objects' button and made a request for transport: [http://i43.tinypic.com/17x1fc.png|http://i43.tinypic.com/17x1fc.png]
Followed by jumping to Transprot Organiser in SE10 and then 'Releasing directly' when selecting the base node NWDK903388 first, followed by the same action on parent node 'Projet Dragon Transport 005': http://i44.tinypic.com/2i8kh95.png
When looking at the transport logs, it appears it has released from NWD (Development) but not imported into NWP (Prod): http://i44.tinypic.com/2q1xvdl.png
We aren't experiencing the same issue of logs at the moment so it suggests it was related to a high volume data manager file?
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Nick
NB: I have also made sure that on our Production server we had the identically named environment which is something we didn't have before, whichI think we needed(?) I also checked I have superuser access account on both Dev and Production to ensure that wouldn't be a problem.
