  • Bex transport  in SAP BW 3.1

    Hello everybody,
how do you organize Bex transport in SAP BW?
In our installation, we find it necessary that some queries need to be designed in development system and tested before transport in production. We would like the person who's creating these queries to be able to create and release the transport for his query himself. With just one standard Bex transport this seems difficult to implement:  In our constellation, the standard Bex transport can not be transported to production system, because it may contain test queries, which are not wanted in productive system at all and collects changes of different projects and persons, so it may contain objects that are still in test status, while others need to be transported to production system. Collecting into different requests is only possible if the concerned objects belong to different packages?
Collecting the needed objects in a transport request manually can't be done without releasing the Bex transport first because otherwise the objects are locked.
How do you organize Bex transports in your system landscape?
    Thanks for any suggestions, Kathrin!

    Hi Kathrin,
if you create a query in the development-system, the query will go to the Package $TMP, so no Transport is necessary. If you have a naming-convention, like <InfoProvder>_QU_nnnn or someting else for non-test Queries, it is easy to fetch them in the Transport Connection (Admin Workbench) and transport them in the production-system.
    Hope this helps,
    Regards
    Frank

  • Transport layer SAP between development & quality

Should we have to use two transport layers ( SAP& ZDEV(created )) between the development & quality system as their consolidate route  ?
    Transport layer
SAP- Transport layer for SAP standard objects
ZDEV- Transport layer between Devlopment & quality systems
I assigned the consolidate route ZDEV between the Development & quality systems. Now ,How can I assign the transport layer SAP between the both systems as a consolidate route. Help me with your steps..

    HI,
Z<SID> and SAP both are consolidation route as well as transport layer having different characteristic.
->A transport routes can be either a consolidation route or a delivery route. For a standard three-system
landscape, the transport routes are as follows:
-> A consolidation route connects the development system and the quality assurance system. This
transport layer is named Z<SID>, where <SID> is the system ID of the development system.
->A delivery route is created between the quality assurance system and the production system.
->In the development system, if changes are made to objects whose development class refers to the
(standard) transport layer corresponding to a consolidation route, these changes are recorded in
requests and transported to the quality assurance system and then to the production system.
If you change SAP objects, these changes are recorded in repairs, which can be transported in the
same way but using the consolidation route "SAP".

  • How do i check who imported transport in SAP System

Can some one please tell me the table name where i can find who has imported the transport in SAP System

E070 table only shows the day the transport was imported it does not record the user who imported the transport. I was able to check TPLOG table and I found some transports getting recorded but not all of them. I am not sure what logic it uses to record the information.
I am not sure where else I need to look to get the person who imported the transport. Please any other suggestions

  • CTS+ Transports in SAP PI 7.1

    Hi experts,
we have a new installed SAP PI 7.1. Our scenario is that we have a single SLD for each PI System on dev, test and prod.
Now we are facings some troubles regarding the SLD setup. Our target is to use CTS+ to transport IR and ID objects. In the how to guides I found in SDN I found always settings within the visual admin to get this scenario run. But as I understood there is no more visual admin in SAP PI 7.1.
What are the required steps to connect my sld from dev --> test --> prod and what is additional to perform to get my ID objects transported from dev --> test --> prod.
    Regards,
    Björn

    Hi Bjorn,
CTS+ is a transport mechanism used to transport NWDS, IR, ID objects.....basically JAVA objects......
    For CTS+ and NWDI...check it :

  • Incorrect Transport Requests : SAP delivery version getting collected

    Hi,
In our development system, when we try to include objects in a transport request, the entries in the transport request are getting saved as the SAP Delivery version rather than the active version.
For example an ODS ( z object, newly created in development environment) entry is being logged as R3TR DODS  XXXX (Obj name) rather than R3TR ODSO XXXX.This is happening for all object types ( Info objects, cubes, workbooks etc).
Also while collecting workbooks in transport request ( using transport connection) we got the following error -Logical transport object 414Q not found in table RSTLOGOPROP. Not sure if the above two issues are interlinked.
    Appreciate your help on this.
    Kind Regards,
    Bansi

    Hi KxD,
I don't expect the loading date to be equal to the delivery date but I expect it to be 2 days before the delivery date since the time specified on the route is 2 days. So I would expect my loading date = delivery date - 2 days (route time)
The way system is acting is loading date  = committed date + 2 days (route time).
FYI.. when you turn on route scheduling the delivery creation date is based off of your route time and not your planned delivery time from the material master
    Thanks,
    Imran

  • Transporting IN SAP XI 7.0 SP09

    HI ,
I have a 3 seprate SLD environment i.e. development ,QA & Production all have there own different SLD.
In repository I have 3 major Software component versions.
One is for Legacy.(It has all the legacy interfaces)
One is for CRM (Business System).(All the idocs )
One is LegacyCRM.(Having dependencies on above 2).Under this software component version i define my interfaces.
We don't want to use CMS.
What are the steps involved in trasporting all these objects (The whole environment) from Development to QA and finally to Production.
    Kindly help .

    hi deepak,
try how to guides if you want to handle SLD in XI
    https://websmp104.sap-ag.de/~sapdownload/011000358700001684302005E/HowToSLDandXI.pdf
for file transport this link by sravya might be helpful.

and I am just curious why you don't want to use CMS?if not CMS,file transport is the only option I think.

  • File Level transport in sap xi

    Hi XI Experts,
I am involved in a file level transport for xi 3.0, can some one send me the steps on how it is done?
I am not using CMS and i have seen the generic weblogs on the overview of transports like "Overview of Transition from Dev to QA in XI" and "XI Software Logistics 1: SLD Preparation".
Any other documents other than these two will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Anirban.

    >>>you said about copying SLD, Any other suggestions?
this is only the case if you have many SLDs
as SAP suggests it's better to have only one, central SLD
...if you do then there's not much you have to do
just the configuration for the directory as I mentioned
file transports are numbered so you know which one was exported first, second (from the same scenario for example)
    >>>>when we import idocs or rfc in xi do they automatically reflect in target after transport or we need to reimport them again
are you talking about the metadata or IR?
if metadata then I always do it in the PRD XI
I know that it should import itself with the first flow but still...
if you're talking about IR then no you cannot do
anything to your software component on the PRD XI
it's blocked for changes and it should stay like this...

  • Site transport in SAP Retail

    Hi,
When is a transport required for sites in SAP Retail?
Is it triggerd for all changes in the site?
Is it triggered for changes in also in customer/vendor master data?
Sometimes I get a transport request and sometimes not...
    Thanks, Torkel

    Hi,
    After creating a Site Master in your Golden / Development client, you can transport using following ALE transaction codes;
    (a) You can transport Customer Master using transaction code BD12 (from one system to another system)
    (b) You can transport Vendor Master using transaction code BD14 (from one system to another system)

  • How to transport the sap script

    Thx in advance!
    Kun Bao

check these links it will be very useful...
    How to transport SAPSCRIPT??
    SMARTFORMS translate and transport
SAP Scripts are client-dependent objects. Hence, they may often require to be downloaded from or uploaded to SAP system
Following programs can be used to download from/upload to SAP System
RSTXR3TR – To EXPORT/IMPORT layout set (FORM) using a Transport Request (CTS)
RSTXSCRP – To EXPORT/IMPORT layout set (FORM), Style, Standard Text or Device Type without using a Transport Request
execute the Program 'RSTXSCRP' give the Script name and Export it to u'r system and then log on in different client and Import the script using the same Program.

  • Transports in SAP BI

    Hi Experts,
Iam new to transporting business objects. Could you please provide me with the documents giving step by step procedure for Transporting objects in SAP BI?
    Thanks
    Khan

    1.     Do not start transporting until the development is complete and stable.
    2.     Leave all objects as $TMP (local objects) until it is absolutely ready to transport
    3.     Delete any obsolete objects in Development, so that they would not accidentally get transported to Test or Production.
    4.     Transport objects in the recommended sequence or errors may result.  Ensure a successful import of the object before transporting the next set of dependent objects.
    5.     Organize the contents of the transports
u2022     To facilitate transporting the objects in the right sequence
u2022     To keep the CTO small
u2022     To make error debugging easier
    6.     Import dependent  transports into production in the same sequence as they  were imported into Test, otherwise the results in the Production environment would not reflect what was user tested and accepted in Test environment.  Import into Production even those transports that  ended with errors in Test.  There may be some exceptions that will affect the sequence.
    7.     Keep track of transport errors in Test and the action steps taken to correct them in the CTO Tracking Log.  These action steps will come in very handy when importing those same transports into Production.
    8.     Avoid making any changes directly in Test or Production.  All changes should be made in Development and transported.
    9.     Verify that objects are reflected in the transport.  This should be jointly performed by the developer and CTO Administrator.
    10.     Assign all infoobjects to an InfoobjectCatalog.   It is recommended to split out the Infoobject Catalog by Subject Area by Characteristics and Key Figures.
    11.     Verify that the R/3 transports that are required for the BW transports are successfully imported and tested with RSA3 and replicate data sources in BW, prior to initiating the BW transports.
    12.     Make note of R/3 dependencies in the CTO Tracking Log.  This would assist in the grouping of BW CTOs that can be transported and breakpoints to wait for the R/3 transport to occur.
    13.     Create Development Class as follows:
u2022     A single development class is needed for all variables (if there are multiple projects in the same BW instance, they all share the same development class for variables.)
u2022     A single development class is needed for all backend objects.
u2022     Development classes can be assigned as follows depending on the frontend design to manage BEX (frontend) objects:
    -     Separate development class for each Infocube, ODS or Multicube
    -     Development class to group Infocubes and ODS
    -     Development class to group Multicubes and the Infocubes that make up the multicube.
Just remember that  you can assign multiple development classes to 1 CTO, but you cannot assign 1 development class to more than 1 CTO.
    14.     Use a CTO naming standard to manage CTOu2019s if BW instances are shared by multiple projects and developers are responsible for creating their own CTO's.
e.g. : Format of the CTO request =  Project: Description.
Where Description must be as descriptive as possible in order to remember what the CTO includes.  Ask yourself "Will I remember what I meant by this a month from now?"
    2.4     Sequence of transports
Not all transports will have every type of BW objects listed below. However, if applicable, the BW objects should be transported in the following order:
u2022     R/3 - R/3 objects must be transported in a CTS before BW transports can begin
u2022     Development Class - for backend objects
u2022     Developer Security Roles - End user roles for projects can be transported later.
u2022     Application Component - Including InfoAreas
u2022     Custom Tablespace/Custom Data Class - DBA creates custom tablespaces and Basis' data class entries must be transported `
u2022     InfoObject (only object definition, no infosource or rules) & InfoObject Catalogs
u2022     Data Sources.  Remember to replicate datasources prior to importing objects listed below.
u2022     InfoSource -  Master data and Text
u2022     Data Targets for Transaction Data u2013 Cubes and ODSu2019s. This can potentially be grouped with the two following items (infosources transaction data).
u2022     InfoSource - Transaction Data ODS (includes Update Rules, Communication Structures, Transfer Rules, Transfer Structures, Infopackages)
u2022     InfoSource - Transaction Data  Infocubes (includes Update Rules, Communication Structures, Transfer Rules, Transfer Structures, Infopackages)
    u2022     Multicube
u2022     Development Class - for frontend objects
    u2022     Infoset Queries
    u2022     End User Security Roles
    u2022     Variables Customer exit code
u2022     Workbooks/Queries/Structures/Calculated Key Figures/Restricted Key Figures (in the correct development class!)
u2022     Workbook folders (needs to be transported whenever NEW workbooks are created).
    u2022     Jump Targets
    u2022     Process Chains
    Cheers:)

  • Transporting a SAP Query from DEV to PRD

    Hi,
We created a Query Report using SQ03, SQ02 and SQ01 for Travel Report in DEV and is working fine. Now, we want to move this query to PRD. For this, we tried create a Transport using SQ02>Environment>Transports and finally a transport request was generated and moved to PRD.
But the requisite Query, Infosets and User Groups are not there in PRD. Are we using the correct approach to Transport a Query to PRD?
    Please help.
    Regards,
    CMC Team

    1. While saving User Group in SQ03, save it in correct Package (not as Local Object) and a Transport Request will be created.
    2. Create Infoset in SQ02 and save it in same Transport which was created in Step 1 above.
    3. Create Query in SQ01 and again it in same Transport which was created in Step 1 above.
Release this Transport Request and move to PRD.
    Hope it will help you.

  • Client transport  between SAP on Oracle 10G and MS SQL server 2005

    Hi Folks,
We have a requirement where we have to do client export/import from SAP ECC 6.O running on Oracle 10g and to SAP ECC 6.0 running on MS SQL server 2005.I want to know whether SAP supports this and patch levels of all components two systems should be the same.
    Thanks in advance,
    Basis Admin

Not recommendet because of potential :
    -  patch level inconsistency
    - ABAP dictionary inconsistency (programs, tables)
    - possible client independent configuration conflicts
existing config cen disturb "imported" client
imported config can ddisturb  existing clients
If there are any inconsistencies mentioned above you are in trouble...
    regards,
    wojtek
