Transport KM Repository

Hi All,
Right Now, we are transporting all KM documents to another new server. But we have some own CM (FSDB) repositories in current server that has many documents. If I want to move custom CM repository to new server, Is that possible or do I need to create new repository in another server?
Thanks
Ashok.

Hi John,
You're welcome.
Its a good choice to use ICE. I used it successfully very often by myself.
If you export your custom propertiy config from KM system configuration and import it to your target system, all your custom properties should be transported by ICE afterwards as well.
You will definitely loose some system properties. There is no affordable mechanism toavoid this
you may think about something like:
- create some custom properties
- write the original system properties into these custom props
- develop and install a property filter on target system to maps your orig system props to the new custom props
But nobody will seriously do something like this, or does anybody?

Carsten

  • Transporting a repository service

    Hallo Experts,
I developed an repository service in our development system and I want to transport it to our test-portal.
Do somebody know how to transport such a service?
    Thanks in advanced.
    Best Regards,
    Markus

    Hi Markus,
There will four menus in the top of the SA->KM->content management like below
    Actions  History  Mode help
Step1 :  Go to Actions->Export and click Start option.
    Package will be created.
    Step2 : Go to Actions-> Export ->Add
you will get 3 options and can select any area you updated or you can select complete configuration
Once everything is done you can finalize the export and then import the same in other portal system using the same Actions option.
Hope it helps. Please assign points if it is helpful

  • Client export for ABAP programs, repository objects cross client objects

    Hello,
Let me first explain the scenario here. Our Development system crashed we are rebuilding the development system from a client export of the production. Client does not want migration etc so the only way we want to do it is through client export.
Now the question is whether cross client objects can really be imported through client export KT, KO, KX requests?
I thought it was possible but after successfully importinng the client export (which was taken using profile SAP_EXPC) of the Production client all the customizing has been imported but non of the ABAP programs have been imported.
Can anyone explain how this is done and if it is possible?
    Steps I performed:
1] Exported Production client with profile SAP_EXPC
2] Imported the 3 requests KT, KO, KX using command line
    tp import <KT req> <SID> U2 client=<my client> pf=<profile path>
    tp import <KX req> <SID> U2 client=<my client> pf=<profile path>
    tp import <KO req> <SID> U2 client=<my client> pf=<profile path>
3] After successful import ran scc7 which finished successfully
    Thank you

You can transport client independent customizing, read sap note [24853 - CC-INFO: Client copy, functionality|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/24853].
But you cannot transport abap repository objects (abap programs) with a client copy.
Can you explain what you mean by "Our Development system crashed". If you still can happily do client copies to that system, then i really wonder what you mean by crashed...
    Cheers Michael

  • Communication channel parameters are not tranported in CTS+ transport

    Hi,
My scenario is MDM to jms.
we have configured the cts+ transport in our system.
We transported the ESR and ID objects from development to Quality.
But in the sender mdm communication channel the everything is getting transported except Repository password.
when i checked in the quality system the Repository password was blank.
And receiver jms communication channel details are in
    dev system
    IP Address or server Name:135.12.14.12
    server port                          :3321
    Queue manange name       :RRTYRKB
    channel name                  :KDIEKE.MDM

    IP Address or server Name:localhost
    server port                        :1414
    Queue manange name       :QM_hostname
    channel name                    :S_hostname
i want know  whether this is  the case when we do the cts+ transport?
if it is the case should i edit the objects in the Quality sysem(which i don't want to do).
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Muniyappan.

    Hi,
    >>>if it is the case should i edit the objects in the Quality sysem(which i don't want to do).
communication channel attrubites always get reset in the new env - TEST, PRD, etc.
and you always need to fill them once more - this is the normal way
otherwise - would you like to use DEV parameters on PRD system ?
maintaining the channel attributes is a typical task on all landscapes

  • SRM MDM 3.0 BMECAT Repository Schema

    Hello at all,
I have currently run the SRM-MDM 3.0 with the standard respository delivered as archive on the install CD. I still have created some data with the data manager and it runs all very well.
Now I want to import a catalog based on BMECat 1.2 standard. I Have the complex catalog data XML from the vendor Bechtle and the images folder for the articles.
When running the Import Manager there are many fields and tables in the source xml that do not excist in the destination hierachy (repository).
My question is how do I create a repository based on the BMECat 1.2 standard to import the vendor catalog xml ?
What I still tryed was. Creating a new repository. It's empty except of the standard table like Admin, Images, Products etc.
Than go to Transport -> Import Repository Schema -> choose the vendor XML
That doesn' work. I get the Error Message: "There are problems with the transport (XML) which prevent it from being processed"
I have learned that an XML schema data is described with the ending .xsd but when I try to import the databrowser looks for .xml endings.
Could someone please advice what's I have done wrong?
    Thanks a lot.
    Rico

    Hi Rico,
I am not aware of BMEcat standard but in MDM terms you can take the backup of repository in two forms:
    1. Archive/UnArchive -> If you want to move the repository from one MDM server to another i.e. from dev to QA then you can Archive the repository which creates the .a2a file and place the file in the Archives folder of MDM Server installation directory which can then be copied and moved to Archives folder of target MDM server and you can UnArchive it on that MDM server.
Archive = Repository Schema + Data
    2. Export / Import Repository Schema -> With this method you can export the schema of the repository and create the new repository on some other MDM Server using Create Repository from Schema command. When you perform the export repository schema command, it will ask for the file name and path. You can then copy this schema file and place in the file system of another server.
Export / Import Repository schema = Repository Schema only

  • Difference between workbench request and customizing request in transport

    Hi Experts,
I am new to SAP BI7 work. i am having basic doubt in Transort request creations
ususally we create  the requests to transport the objects from Development  system to further systems.
can anyone please clarify me,  what is the main defference between the Workbench request and Customizing request.
    Thanks and Regards
    Mrudula

    Hi ,
The Transport Organiser maintains Change Requests. These requests record the changes made to the repository and customizing objects.Based on that objects changed they are
    1)WorkBench Request & 2) Customizing Request.
Workbench Requests are those that involve changes to cross-client Customising and Repository Objects. The objects are independent of the client.Hence the requests are used for transferring and transporting changed Repository objects and changed system settings from cross-client tables.
Customizing Requests involve changes recorded to client-specific Customizing objects .These client specific requests are used for copying and transporting changed system settings from client-specific tables.

  • Is SAP customizing client required to create a content repository ?

    Hi,
We are facing an issue where we create a content repository pointing to an external content server. Then when we click on test connection then we get an error" Content repository does not exist".
Can it be cause we are doing work in a testing client having 555 number rather than a customizing client going by the number of 100 or 300 ?
Is transporting content repository required to use it to make an external HTTP server connection ?

You need to supply the "Key Store Location", "Key Store Password", "Private Key Alias" and "Private Key Password' to use socketssl.
Also please make sure that the content server has enabled "Use SSL". You can configure it using the enterprise manager.

  • About transport requests

how many types of transport requests are there,is it possible to customise the request, plz send me the answer..

    Hi
You mainly have 2 types of requests:-
    1. Workbench Request.
    2. Customizing Request.
Depending on the type of work these requests will be allocated, for example if you create an object in your abap development workbench(Se80), then it gets stored under workbench, if you save any customizing Changes(SPRO), those requests will be stored in customizing requests.
    Change Requests
Change requests are managed by the Transport Organizer. Changes to Repository and Customizing objects are recorded in change requests.
So that you can differentiate between global changes to the system and client-specific Customizing settings, the CTS records your changes in either a Workbench request or a Customizing request:
    Workbench Requests
When you change a Repository object of the ABAP Workbench, a query window appears in which you need to specify a Workbench request. You can only save the changes if you have assigned the object to a change request.
Workbench requests and the tasks assigned to them are normally used to record changes to Repository objects and Customizing for all clients. However, you can also include client-specific Customizing.
Whether the changes to Repository objects are transported depends on whether a transport route is defined from the current SAP System for the package of these objects. From the system settings, the system automatically determines whether the change requests are transportable and to which target system they should be transported.
    Customizing requests
Customizing requests record client-specific Customizing settings made in a single client (the source client of the request).
Automatic recording of configuration activities in the Customizing work for a client can be activated or deactivated for each client with Client Control. If automatic recording is active, a query window appears when you change Customizing settings, asking you to specify a Customizing request.
Whether Customizing requests are transported or not, does not depend on the objects entered, as is the case with Workbench change requests. The Customizing requests in an SAP System (or in a client if you use Extended Transport Control) are either all transportable or all local, depending on the system setting. The system uses the standard transport layer to determine automatically whether the change requests are transportable and to which target system they should be transported. However, you can change this manually.
    Request Types and Task Types
When you transport an object in a request, the object’s transport attributes must match the transport attributes of the request (local or transportable).
Different object types have different transport attributes:
Repository objects and cross-client Customizing objects
Each Repository object has an object directory entry. This object directory entry contains the package to which the object is assigned. In turn, the package is assigned to a transport layer.
If a consolidation route leading from the current system is defined in the TMS for this transport layer, then the object is recorded in a task belonging to a transportable change request.
If no consolidation route leading from the current system is defined in the TMS for this transport layer, then the object is recorded in a task belonging to a local change request.
If the change request is transportable, the target of the request must be the same as the consolidation target of the object.
If the current system is the original system of the object, the object will be assigned to a task of the type correction.
If the current system is not the original system of the object, the object will be assigned to a task of the type repair.
    Client-specific Customizing objects
Client-specific Customizing objects are recorded in tasks that belong to Customizing requests.
If a consolidation route leading from the current system is defined in the TMS for the standard transport layer of the system or the current client, then the object is recorded in a task belonging to a transportable Customizing request.
The system uses the consolidation route of the standard transport layer to determine the transport target of the Customizing request. However, you can change this target.
If no consolidation route leading from the current system is defined in the TMS for the standard transport layer of the system or the current client, then the object is recorded in a task belonging to a Customizing request without transport target.

  • Problem in Transport of ID objects using CMS

    Hi,
I am using CMS to transport my IR and ID objects from DEV->QA->PROD.
While I am able to transport my repository objects successfully,I do have a problem with trnasport of ID objects.Especially this problem seem to exist only if i try to export individual objects. There isnt any issue for a complete ID transfer which is not my req.
When doing "Release FOr tranpsort" from QA after making the communication channels changes,The object appears in the "assemble " tab.
Ideally Once I  assemble the objects,it should diasappear out of assembly page and should be appearing in the "Approval" tab..
But the objects successfully get assembled and dispapper from assembly ,they dont seem to be present in the next approval step.I am unable to track where they are lost.CMS logs doesnt show any error as well.
    Any pointers from this issue?

  • Transport Request for Analysis Authorization

    Hello Everyone,
When a trasport request is created for any BI analysis authorization ( including the Z*), the type of trasport request created
is workbench request. What is the reason behind this because when any Customised Role / Profile is included in transport request this will be customised request unlike analysis authorization.
    Thanks in advance.....

    Hi Rashmi,
The difference is In BI, the AA authorizations are independent. Any objects that are independent of the client will be captured in the workbench type of transport request, when they are required in the other client. Hence you can see the Workbech type request for  transporting changed Repository objects and changed system settings from cross-client tables. However, customizing requests involve changes recorded to client-specific Customizing objects .
The Analysis authorizations are always captured in a Workbench type of transport request by default due to the above design.
You can still transport both the PFCG role, and AA in a single transport request, you can do the same by following the steps mentioned in the below Wiki:

  • Monitoring and transports in MDM 5.5 sp6

    Hi all,
    Monitoring:
In mdm 5.5 sp6 once you create your repository, how do you monitor it regularly??
lets say i need to upload a excel file every day via import manager and syndicate it.
i schedule it using windows scheduler.
Now,is there any specific location where i can look at whether the my repository is working fine are it is runing through errors?
and Normally how do we monitor a repository  ?
    Transports:
I learnt that once you create a repository , if you wish to move from ur dev to qa, then..
    1) we need to archive the rep,
    2) copy the file to archive directory of quality system
    3) unarchive in qa
is this the correct way of transportation involved in MDM.(5.5 sp6)??
or do we have any other process to move the repositories?
If you move the a2a file in the above mention way, do our rules, strategies, validations be created automaticallly in qa or we need to create them manually again in qa ??
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    phani

    HI Phani
when you say mdm console, can you tell me where init?
Under each repository you will also find reports which contains useful LOGS and information. GO through them for monitoring different actions done on MDM. Similarly at the server level you can access the LOg files which you can find in consle at the bottom.
    transports:
when you say schema are you talking about the input or output structure schema that we upload in 'schema' under admin folder in console ??
Transporting the repository can happen in 2 ways:
    1. using the a2a file as described by you. this is exact replica of the repo with all data, Matching etc.
    2. Creating a new repo from one environment to another using "Import Schema" option. For this first you need to export the repository schema from console.
please close the thread if answered.
    best regards
