Transport Monitor could not be launched

I'm running OSX 10.4.11 on a Powerbook G4. Never had a problem until I installed a recent security update. Now, upon startup I get the following message: ""The application Transport Monitor could not be launched because of a shared library error - "8<transport monitor><transport monitor><HotSyncLib.PPC>"."
If I click OK everything works fine but is this a major problem and if not, is there a way to prevent the message from appearing? If it is a problem that should be repaired, how do I accomplish it?

I tried to get this resolved by following the Solution ID: 14020. Here is the problem. There is NO "Install Utility" in any of the Palm Desktop Installer file (either on the CD or downloaded from the website).
In addition, I uninstalled Missing Sync the deleted Palm. I then re-installed Palm and Missing Sync respectively. The problem persists.

I have been thrashing on this one for a while. PLEASE, PLEASE, if this helped you pass this along to other forums because there are tons of people out there with this same issue and NO USEFUL information from PALM to fix it.
The fix is easy. Basically the problem is that there is a remaining process running in FreeBSD subsystem that must be stopped in order to reinstall the hotsync/palm application correctly.
Log in as root/administrator
Go to terminal and type:
ps -ax | grep -i palm
this will show all processes that are running in the system that are part of the palm software.
note the process number (on the left) of the list.
killl nnn
i.e if the left column says 654 type "kill 654" and hit enter
now do the ps -ax again and make sure the process stopped.
This also fixes that other issue when you try to empty the trash and you get an error that says Localized.rsrc is in USE. blah , blah, blah
Now reinstall the palm software and breath a big sigh of relief. Have a beer and sync your palm.

Transport Monitor could not complete your request (16) is the message I keep getting lately when I try to hotsync my palm IIIc with my 24inch imac running OSX 10.4.11. I'm also using Keyspan serial adaptor for the palm to a USB port. I've been able to hotsync on this machine before the only thing different was that I unplugged the cable once from the USB port to use a flash drive. Now everytime I try to enable hotsync via the hotsync software setup panel I get the above message.
Any ideas about what to do? Thanks in advance.

I have recently been receiving a "Transport Monitor could not complete your request" error, though with the tag (-4960) at the end. This error appears upon computer startup, ever since I had to reinstall Mac OX 10.5.2 on my computer. Everything worked fine with the same computer until that reinstallation. Now, nothing happens on my computer when I try to USB-synch my Treo 680, though it works fine on other computers.
I have tried repairing disk permissions. I have also tried deleting all the files for Palm Desktop and reinstalling it. When I did so, I received the same error message during the installation process!
What can I do?

EDIT: Perhaps relatedly, something seems to be malfunctioning in the HotSync Manager application. When I open it, the default window with "HotSync Software Setup" does not open. I can select other menu options (e.g. "Install Handheld Files" ), but if I select "Setup" from the HotSync menu, nothing happens.

I had been syncing my palm T!X with my G4 laptop.
I change to a macbook core 2 duo with OS 10.5.8
I have installed palm package 4.2.1 rev D .
When I restart the laptop during the startup I get this message: Transport Monitor: could not complete your request. (16).
I cannot sync my palm.
help!!!

What this really mean ???
I install a new application that can sync text files between mi Mac and the Palm Z22. That because i hate Palm Desktop and i was looking a sustitute.
I want to use iSync Conduit but because don't sync Memos that i use so much, i try with MacNoteTaker that working great till the third sync.
Now every time i startup mi Mac show me that window message error and don't let me sync and when i open HotSync Manager don't show me the window that let me enable or disable HotSync.
I try to reinstall the software again from the CD but the same.
Any idea ???, because i can't sync now and i need to solve this.

Before create this thread i ask to Palm technical support, because i was looking all the ways possible. This is the answer that i get, try it:
   1     In the finder, search for files called: com.palm.HS
   2     Delete them. Restart then try a HotSync®.
However if the steps didn’t resolve anything, click on the apple icon at the upper left corner and follow the steps below.
   1     Click SYSTEM PREF.
   2     Click on ACCOUNTS.
   3     Then click STARTUP ITEMS.
Or
   1     Click SYSTEM PREF.
   2     Click LOGINS ITEMS.
Then
   1     Check in Preference Applications,
   2     Click on Login items.
   3     Make sure that Palm Desktop Background and Transport Monitor are listed only once. Otherwise, trash the duplicates.
   4     Restart the Mac.
And then,
   1     Check on the folder:
Hard drive > applications > utilities >
   2     Run disk utilities.
   3     Choose the hard drive.
   4     Click on disk permissions.
   5     Click on verify disk permissions. This would take sometime to complete.
   6     After the process is done, restart the Mac again.
Basically is the same that Alan say, but the try deleting com.palm.HS

LR4 Problem: The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop CS6 could not be launched.

Is there a fix for this? When I try to edit an image in Photoshop from Lightroom 4 (CTRL+E), Photoshop CS6 launches immediately but with no image. In Lightroom 4, after about two minutes, the message box appears saying "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop CS6 could not be launched." When I click OK, the image promptly opens in Photoshop CS6 like normal. This wan an itermittent issue for me after the LR4.1 release. I was hoping that LR4.2 would help, but now I get the error every time.

This may be a cooincidence, I starting having problems after I started using a Nikon D800, which has 36MP files. LR4 released at the same time as the D800. LR4 shows signs of struggling with the larger files, which are typically 280MB TIFFs for the D800, like freezing for several seconds when using an adjustment brush or going into a spasm with the crop tool. Because Photoshop does not have similar large file issues, I'm doing more basic work in Photoshop, like cropping, dodge and burn, exposure adjustment, etc.
Because Photoshop otherwise runs fine, and appears to read all the prefernes properly mid-issue, to get a better idea of what's going on, I turned on Process Monitor from Technet. For what it's worth, LR4 appears to touch the Photoshop preferences before it launches Photoshop. LR4 must have a memory leak in that corrupts the Photoshop preferences file in a way that makes no difference to Photoshop.
My weekend project is to try Capture One to see if I can spend more time on photography and less troubleshooting Adobe problems. As it stands, LR4 is not usable for me.

Replication Monitor could not open the Detail Window

The publisher is running SQL Server 2008 R2 on a Server 2008 R2 box. The subscriber is running SQL Server 2012 on a Server
2012 box. I have tried launching the replication monitor from both servers but can't drill down into details on either instance. I have three publications and subscriptions and they all throw this error when trying to drill down into the details. I would post
a picture but am unable to do so.

I received no error message. The application was just trying to find applications unsuccessfully.
I am using MAC OS 10.10.1
I tried to uninstall the application but it seems that a kind of deamon is still installed thus providing me to reinstall properly. Do you know where are the elements to remove in order to get my machine just like before ?
Otherwise I would have to reinstall everything and this would be a pain.

Lightroom 5.6 Error: The file could not be edited because Photoshop CC could not be launched...

I upgraded to lightroom 5.6 recently and i am using photoshop cs 6.
My OS is windows 8 on i5 4670 with R280X gfx card 16gb ram
After editing a photo with lightroom , when I right click to edit in photoshop, immediately photoshop launch but the image isnt imported to photoshop.
After like 30sec an error message pop out saying "The file could not be edited because Photoshop CC could not be launched".
After another 10sec then the photo appear in photoshop... this is getting irritating to me.
if i select to just open the original or a copy of the original it works fine. It only happens when I try to open it with lightroom changes.
I had uninstall/reinstall both photoshop and lightroom as well as remove all the plugins i had, but the problem doesnt go away.
Another issue with lightroom 5.6 is the the adjustment brush is slow and sluggish, it is so unusable when I zoom in to use the adjustment brush.
I didnt had that issue before i upgraded. OMG
anyone have solution to my problem ?

What is happening when I download firefox, and I get tne icon with the circle with the slash thru it, and " could not be launched -10661"

Someone did some mayhem, to my " new to me " Apple eMac G4. I came home, (the G4 was asleep) when I woke it, the trash was an eject button, I had two web pages minimized, I went on line and Firefox worked as it had before. After, I shut it down that evening, it wouldn't start up the next day, and, when, I tried, to downnload, it, I get Firefox app could not be launched -10661.

Lightroom 5.2 Error: The file could not be edited because Photoshop CC could not be launched...

When I am using Lightroom 5.2, and I try to edit a file in Adobe Photoshop CC from Lightroom, Photoshop starts up and after 15 to 20 seconds, I receive the following error message: "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop CC could not be launched." If I click "OK" on the error message form, the image finally opens in Photoshop.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom 5.2 and Photoshop CC multiple times, but the edit in Photoshop problem won't go away.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

I am having the same problem in lightroom 5 on a mac (Mavericks). I'm wondering if it's because I have both Photoshop CS5 and Photoshop CC and somehow they are conflicting, but I don't see how. I clearly have Photoshop CC as the primary external editor.
Last night, after seeing this post, and ekupp's response, I uninstalled Photoshop CC and reinstalled it via the creative cloud and that fixed it, but today it's doing the same thing again. When I choose to edit in photoshop CC, Photoshop CC opens but I still get the error in lightroom. If Photoshop CC is already open, I still get the error. I refuse to keep uninstalling/reinstalling it... I can't lose Photoshop CS5 as I use it for designing (I like the view in mini bridge better), but I like CC for editing.
This is creating a secondary problem for me as I am ending up with a bazillion (OK, maybe 5) psd copies of the raw files that I want to edit. When I get the error, Lightroom proceeds to render the files. I really want to turn that function off because as of now I have to try to click the microscopic "x" for each file as it "prepares to edit" and that's tedious and is creating extra files I don't want.
Last thing, since I'm here and hopeful to get an answer... I have a Mac, as I stated and I like my spaces. However, when the "edit in photoshop" function works spaces continues to force me to the photoshop space. No multitasking allowed as my files are opened. I think this is a lightroom or photoshop quirk, as when I run actions I am able to go to a different space (safari or lightroom) to work as it works for me.

I am a long-time user, back to Photoshop 6. I have a Mac Pro running OS X 10.7.5 (Lion). I have tried to reboot and then reinstall but I keep getting the same message, that there are components missing from the appl;ication directory. The program worked well this past week so this is a new problem. As it is CS 5 I can't get much help from Adobe.

The Java File ... Could Not Be Launched

I have X.jar files that whenever I launch java opens (as I can see in the dock) and then immidately quits.
A few seconds later I get a popup:
"The Java JAR file "Whatever.jar" could not be launched. Check the console for possible error messages."
Typing "java -version" into terminal gives me this:

What version of Mac OS X? Be aware that Studio 8 is quite old and may not be supported on later versions of Mac OS X. In fact the reference to <Flash Carbon Player> suggests this, as Carbon is being deprecated (it was a way to bridge the old pre-mac os x codebases and bring them over to Mac OS X). It may be time to upgrade/update your software.

Thanks MadMacs0, for I enabled Logging to be able to see this error messsage. Do you know how to access the page that says whether you are using 32-bit or 64-bit under the Java Control Panel? everyone says that is the solution to my problem, but unfortunately it was all under "Java Preferences."
