Transport of Alert Rules across the XI landscape

Hi,
We have created around 30 alert rules in our XI development environment (in the runtime workbench) and we would like to replicate the same across all the subsequent XI environments in our landscape. We want to avoid creating the alert rules manually in each XI system.
Is there any way to transport the same ?
I appreciate your reply.

Hi,
Q7: How can I transport my Alert Categories and my Alert Rules to a different system?
A7: The Basis Alert Framework provides a menu Transport in the transaction ALRTCATDEF which allows you to create a transport request for the Alert Categories. However this works only if you have created the Alert Categories in the customizing client (c.f. the documentation of the Basis Alert Framework). For the Alert Rules you may create a transport request by runnning the report SXMSALERT_CONFIGTRANS.

  • Visualizing SAP XI routing configuration across the system landscape

    Hi Experts
Iam facing some challenges in visualizing SAP XI routing configuration across the system landscape (Development, Quality, Production). Basically routing is based on a field (technical target system). Depending on the environment we have different target systems (different Mainframe DB that represent the same target system) configured.
Any word/excel/ppt/pdf templates or any comments that could help visualizing routing would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks! Santosh

    Hi Santhosh,
If you are worrieed about how your Business Systems will change when you move from Dev to QA to PROD for the Configuration in your ID, then the answer is simple.
You can create transport target for your Business System and so when you migrate the ID objects from dev to Qa and so on, the business Systems will be automatically replaced.
Take a look at this blog,

  • Alert Rule - not working. Wild Card character issue

    Hi All,
I have a requirement where I need to trigger alerts for mapping failures
of all the interfaces whose namespace is urn:abc.com:odna* or urn:abc.com.odna*.     (in the first instance, there is dot before odna and int he second instance, a colon before odna )
So to suit both the cases, I gave urn:abc.comodna in the Alert Rule.
It worked before. But now its not working.
Then when i changed it to urn:abc.com:odna* it works again. i really dont understand how it worked before and why it fails now.
What is the reason for the unpredicatable behaviour of WildCard Character based Alert Rules?
Should Wild Card Characters be avoided completely?

    Hey
Just create two separate alert rules for the same alert category
one for urn:abc.com:odna* and another for urn:abc.com.odna*.
but before that please make sure that "Suppress multiple alerts of this rule" box is unchecked.
Also please check SAP Note 913858

  • Alert rule container variable not getting filled up

I  want to generate an alert if file content conversion fails. Created  an alert category with the SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRTXT as a container variable of dictionary type Char70 as included it in the long text.Created an alert rule in the RWB. I am getting the alert in the inbox but nothing is filled in for SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRTXT. We are on  PI7.0 SP9.
Has anybody noticed similar problems ?

Hi Sangeeta, I had the same problem but I couldn't fixed because there was not enough time to do it, I created my own message with almost all the XI container variables. And the messages are very helpful. I send you some links

  • Alert category : Alert Rules

    hi experts
I have created two Alert category for one Interface (AE n IE). in my scenario there are 4 different inbound idocs so i have to raise an alert when the connectivity between the PI n the external systems are lost. for this to happen should i create four different Alert catogries or is it possible only to cretae 4 different Alert rules for AE n fou different Alert rules for the IE for the first created Alert catogries????
    plz help me out
    thanx in advance

    Hi
    >should i create four different Alert catogries or is it possible only to cretae 4 different Alert rules for AE n fou different Alert >rules for the IE for the first created Alert catogries????
Total 4 Alert rules are enough.
At the time of creating the alert rule, if you select the AE it will display only adapter related errors if it is IE then it will display only integration errors. If you mention no restriction then it will display any type of error so at this time 4 alert rules are enough.

  • Multiple alert rules  for alert category?

    Hi,
I have created Alert Categories and assigned Alert Rules for them. <b>Can I assign multiple Alert rules for the same alert category?</b> I mean RTW--> Alert Configuration lets me do it. But when I test it by running report RSALERTTEST, I could get only error for one alert rule, even though I defined multiple alert rules. I haven't tested with real error out scenarios. Any update on this would be helpful.
    Thanx&Regards
    Navin

    Hi Navin,
    1) the report requires authorization object S_XMB_AUTH with area MONCONFIG and activity 02. It's actually part of the standard role SAP_XI_ADMINISTRATOR_ABAP.
    2) sorry, don't know that, but you might want to check SAP Note 913858 for troubleshooting the alerting. it contains the following statement:
<i>Q10: Why are sometimes certain error categories (e.g. SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRTXT) not filled?
A10: This is due to an error in the Business Object Repository when the value of a container variable exceeds 255 characters. Please implement the correction described in note #947738.</i>
    3) You can configure alert rules for the way from the sender to the BPM and from the BPM to the sender. If anything happens in that communication you will get an alert. However as far as i know, the only way to trigger an alert for something that happens within the BPM is by using an according control step.

  • Alert rules not displaying correctly in the RWB after transporting to QA

    Hi Experts,
After transporting the alert rules from DEV to QA, the rules are not correctly displayed in the RWB in QA e.g. a star (*) is displayed in all the fields instead of the filter values which I have entered such as the "Sender Party"; "Sender Interface" etc. I am also not able to manually change the values in the RWB in QA anymore because the values are greyed out.
Strangely enough, the rules are correctly displayed inside the SXMSALERTRULES table in QA.
Do you perhaps know how to solve this issue so that the rules are also correclty displayed in the RWB after transporting?
    Thanks and regards

  • Transport alert category and alert rule

    Hi,
We are using SAP BASIS 700 (NW2004S SP9). We have created alert category and alert rule in development system. We now want to transport this alert category and alert rule to test system. I have referred to sapnote 913858 but its valid till SAP BASIS 640 and we are using SAP BASIS 700.
Does anybody know how to resolve this issue?
    Regards,
    Mateen.

Thank you all you 3 wonderful people, your replies did helped and I am definitely going to reward you with the points..Now I am getting alerts in my alert inbox. Can you also help me with some info on alerts?
    1) What exactly happens when I check and uncheck "Suppress Multiple Alerts of this rule" checkbox while creating alert rule? I have read some documentations for it in sap help website and also in some of the forums but its still very confusing to me. Can you please give me an exact picture of it?
    2) I am unable to get alert emails in my lotus notes. I compared my profile setup in XIJ and XIT using TCode SU01 and found that the PARAMETERS tab had some discrepancies. Can you please confirm if this can be the reason?
    Best Regards,

  • Authorization to Create the Alert Rules?

    Hello All,
I created the Alert category in ALRTCATDEF transaction, now when i want to create the Alert rules in RWB.
Add Rule and Change Rule is in disable mode. my user have SAP_XI_ADMINISTRATOR authorization,
please tell me any other authorization role required to create the alert rules in RWB.
    Thanks and Regards,
    chinna

    Hi,
    Steps of alert configuration :
    Prerequisites
The following prerequisites have to be met in order to use the Alert Management (ALM):
u2022 For using the Alert Inbox (BSP based display program of ALM), the corresponding service has to be activated in the service maintenance transaction SICF. Choose Default_host ® sap ® bc ® bsp ® sap ® alert inbox, and Activate in the context menu.
u2022 For customizing or administration of the Alert Management the corresponding authorization role has to be assigned. The end users do not need any additional authorization.
u2022 The central alert server must be maintained as an RFC destination in transaction SM59 in the local system. If there is no suitable user, you have to create a user for the RFC connection in the central alert system in transaction SU01. To make this RFC destination known as the RFC destination of the Alert Management System in the local system, the central alert server must also be selected as the RFC destination in transaction SALRT1 of the local system or in Settings ® RFC-Destination of Alert Server.
If the central alert server is running on the local system in the same client, you do not have to maintain an RFC destination. In this case, you can simply enter NONE in transaction SALRT1.
u2022 If external communication types, such as e-mail, SMS, and fax are used, these communication types must be correctly configured in SAPconnect, because the alerts are then sent from the central alert system via SAPconnect.
    Process Flow
The following describes the process flow from alert configuration (transaction ALRTCATDEF) to alert display and confirmation (for example in the alert inbox transaction ALRTINBOX):
    1. Optional: You can define alert classifications. These are useful to group alert categories. For example, you can create an alert classification CRM that contains alert categories referring to CRM. Alert classifications can now have subclassifications. This enables you to build up your own classification hierarchy. Especially, if you use the Alert Mangement (ALM) extensively, classification and subclassification help you to organize your ALM alert landscape and to have a clear overview.
    2. For different types of alerts you have to define different categories. The category contains various properties and other specifications that define the alerts within that category, for example expiry date, or the escalation recipient. You can define an alert category to suit your business requirements and assign the category to the corresponding classification. For example, for the alert classification CRM you can create the alert categories Contract Cancelled and Decrease in Sales. When the critical situation defined in the alert category arises, the system recognizes this and sends an alert instance of this category to the recipients determined. The alerts can always be found in the display programs configured for the recipient (UWL, application-specific program, or alert inbox). Additionally, the alerts are sent via eventual external communication channels, such as e-mail, sms, or fax.
    3. You have to determine recipients so that the Alert Management knows who the recipients of alerts of a particular category are and that the correct parties are informed.
    4. You can configure the way how alerts are processed. For the general use of the Alert Management you do not have to change the default settings. However, if for example you want to send alerts to third-party systems, or to be able to confirm alerts by SMS/Internet mail, or to have logs written, then you have to configure alert processing.
    5. There is a number of Alert Management administration reports that you must schedule according to your requirements. For example, report RSALERTPROC must be executed in order to enable escalation.
    6. Alerts of a particular category must be triggered by an application at runtime. Triggering alerts can be done in various ways. You can call a function module directly or use middleware components that trigger alerts, such as the Business Object Repository (BOR), Post Processing Framework (PPF), SAP Workflow, or CCMS.
    7. Recipients can view the alerts assigned to them in the UWL of Enteprise Portal, in application-specific display programs, or in the alert inbox. In addition, alerts can be received as e-mail, SMS, or fax, if these external communication channels are configured in SAPconnect.
    8. If the problem causing the alert is solved by a recipient, the recipient can confirm the alert, this means its status is changed and it will not be delivered, escalated, or displayed anymore. Alerts are generally confirmed by the recipient in the display program, such as the UWL or Alert Inbox. However, if an alert is sent by Internet mail or SMS message, it is also possible to confirm it by sending an Internet mail or SMS message back to the SAP system. Alert Management uses inbound processing for this.

  • Alert Rules Transport

    Hi Friends,
I would like to transport all my alert rules configured for my scenario at RTW of QUALITY system  to PRODUCTION system. for that i found 2 options.
    1. Manually enter the alert rules in RTW
    2. run the report "SXMSALERT_CONFIGTRANS".
in option2: i run the report and transport request created. it shows message as "transport enrty written. alert no: ABC1234".
So now my doubt is: will this report transport all teh alert rules configured in RTW to PROD? my requirement is i need to transport only my scenario related alert rules....(out of 200 alert rules in RTW, only 10are related to my scenario and i need to transfer only those 10).
    Best Regards,SARAN

    Hi SARAN,
    Transport Alert Categories
Go to ALRTCATDEF (In DEV) --> Transport (In TOOLBAR) --> Current Alert Category --> Create a Customizing Request and note down your request number
Go to SE09 (In DEV) --> Check customizing request and Modifiable --> Choose Display Button --> Go to your Request number --> and release the sub node and then release the request.
Go to STMS (In QA) --> Import --> Import your request
    Transport Alert Rules
Create a workbench transport request manually with transaction SE09. Delete the corresponding unclassified task of that request. Double click on the transport request and click on button 'edit <-> change'. For Program ID enter R3TR, for Object Type enter TABU and for Object Name enter SXMSALERTRULES.
Now click on the button with the key symbol (located under 'Function'). Click on 'Insert row' and enter * for table key. Save the request, release it and import it in the target system.

  • Transporting alert rules

    Hi All,
We could transport alert rules from DEV to QA using report SXMSALERT_CONFIGTRANS
These alert rules are configured with sender and receiver component(Business System)
After transport, alert rules on QA are referring to DEV business systems.
Do we need to manually change them or is there any way they get automatically changed to corresponding QA systems?
    Any thoughts?
    Thank You,
    Mugdha Kulkarni

    Hi,
I think no need of doing any changes manually in the QA to refer to QA business systems. It will automatically point to the QA systems after tranporting.
Contact your Basis team on this.
    Regards,
    Prasanna.

  • Looking for a SQL query to get all the possible Alert Messages from the Rules in a Management Pack

For reporting, I'm looking to get a SQL query of all the possible Alert Messages for Rules configured in a Management Pack (not necessarily the ones that have thrown alerts).  I can do this for Monitors, but not for Rules.
The configured alert messages for the Management Pack Monitors
go like this:  ManagementPack > MonitorView> RuleModule > RuleModule.Alert Message > Localized Text
The configured alert messages for the Management Pack Rules
should go something like this, but there is a missing link:  ManagementPack > RuleView > RuleModule > ? Missing Link ? > Localized Text
The Rules are tied to the Module, but I don't see a connection from the RulesModule to the Alert Message that I see in the LocalizedText. The Rule names do not always equal the Alert name.
Can someone provide the missing link?

    Hi,
please try below powershell code to find the corresponding management pack for specific alert:
    $Alert = get-scomalert | where {$_.Name -like 'Agent Proxy Not Enabled*'} | select -first 1
    If ($alert.IsMonitorAlert -eq "True") {
    write-host "Ths is a monitor-generated alert"
get-scommonitor -ID $Alert.MonitoringRuleID | select Enabled, DisplayName, ManagementPack
    else
    write-host "This is a rule-generated alert"
get-scomrule -ID $Alert.MonitoringRuleID | select Enabled, DisplayName, ManagementPack
