Transport of Variant

Hi,
I have developed a report in Development server and tested it with some Variants.
Now I need to TRansport that Report to Quality system.
Do the report will get transported to Quality system with the same Variants created in Dev. server?

How to transport BEX variants in BI?

Hi,
after the bw-upgrade we have problems with the transport of our variants created in BEX. In BW 3.1 we used saplsvar ( with report-id and variantname) to create a transport. But this doesn't work with BI. Does anyone know which parameter saplsvar need to create a transport in BI?- Or which other alternativ exists to transport a variant.

Hi,
the new variants will be stored only in RSRVARIANT, but not in the VARID. In VARID are only the variants saved in 3.x version.
But how can I transport RSRVARIANT; its a SAP-table?
I'm looking for a program like RSTRANSP, because this program will not work with BI.

Transport standard variant of SAP Query

Hey,
I made a SAP Query with SQO1. Within the attributes of the query, I defined a standard variant.
How can I transport this variant.
When I go to maintain variant, I can click to program RSTRANSP.
When I try to execute, I get the following message "Function not possible for local/private objects". In the help it says that I have to create a transport for my program.
But my query is in a transport. I already transported the query to QAS and it works fine.
Do I have to put the program also in a transport? The program is SAP generated code with the following name "AQZZZISU========CP_METERS=====". I haven't transported the program but it is available in QAS. So I think I don't need to transport it.
Does anyone how I can transport my variant?

I have attached the sap Query based on your idea. But I geting small probelm. Please help me on this.
The varient is created as Protected by default. I can't able to create the varient unprotected. Can you tell me how to create unprotected varient for SAP Query? becuase other user can't able to change the varient it is giving the error message with my user name as " No authorization to change the varient <varient name> Protected by <my user name>".
Please could you help me how to fix it. this issue?

How to transport Query variant used in APD

Hello Experts,
I have created 2 query variants for a query in Development system. And, these variants are being used in APD. Now, when APD is transported to next system, query variants does not exist in next system, so cannot execute APD.
Please let me know how can i transport the query variants.
Note: Gone through SDN, and found, query variants can be transported through some tables.
Please let me any other possibile sloutions for the same.

Hi Lavanya,
To the best of my knowledge, you cannot transport query variants. You have to manually create them in each system. The reason being, when you try to create variants through RSRT -> Query Variants, you are basically trying to create variants for a temporary program generated during run time!
These run time programs do not have TADIR entries (not transportable) and hence any sub elements (like variants) created on these programs are not transportable as well.
Actually you can export variants.Please follow the below steps:
1. Go To TCode SE38.
2. Execute "RSTRANSP".
3. Input your program name.
4. Input your variant name ie. "Z**** ".
5. Execute.
6. Click on continue.
7. You should be able to create a new transport at this point.

Transport query variants

Hi,
I have a lot of query variant which I need in every system.
Is it possible to transport query variants? I already tried to transport the query and variable in the transport connection. Addionally I figured out that the variants are stored in table rsrvariant, but I'm not able to transport the entries.

Pls transport the table RSRVARIANT ,which contains the entry for all bex variants, all variants will be transported then.You should transport the table contents(via SE16 or SE10).Create a request in SE09 or SE10. From the context menu of the transport no, go to object list (or double click). On the next screen go to 'change' mode.Press 'add new entry' (plus icon).

Transport transaction variant

Hello,
using SHD0, I created a standard transaction variant ZIP01 for transaction IP01.
But how can I transport this variant to other systems?
I tried with program RSTRANSP with following parameters:
- Program Name: SAPLIWP3
- Variant name: ZIP01
But I get the following error message: "Function cannot be used for local/private objects"
Message no. DB275
Diagnosis
Variants cannot be transported if the relevant program has only been defined as a local/private object (development class $TMP).
System Response
No transport request generated.
I thougt I had attached my transaction variant and corresponding screen variants to a development package but the systems seems to tell it is not the case. How can I check it (I am just a functional consultant trying to learn more technical things, not an ABAPer, sorry)
By the way, I am not even sure it is the right way to transport transaction variants. In other threads, program RSTRANSP was mentioned to transport selection and layout variants but can it be used to transport transaction variants/screen variants created with SHD0 too?

@sFayaz: In SE38, when entering the program SAPLIWP3, and asking to display variants, I get the message:
"Program SAPLIWP3 has no selection screens
Message no. DB244"
Is a "transaction variant" the same as a "program variant"?

Hi,
Please use the following :
First execute the report .
Then Menubar Settings> Layout> layout management>select your variant> menubar layout--> transport
This will work only when your variant management is activve in your ALV report.

How could I transport the variant and layout setting in SE16

Would any of you please advise me on how to transport the variant and layout setting in SE16? I cannot see any transport request in the menu but would like to understand how to manage through transport requests.

Transporting of variants

I have a question concerning variants and how they get created on different systems. I have created a variant on our DEV system for a process and now the process is getting ready to move to QA. whhen I created and saved the variant, I was not prompted for the transport inform ation. I checked SE10 and noticed that the variant is not part of the transport for my process. Do I have to manually collect the variant for a transport or will the variant have to be manually created in the QA environment.

Enter Prog Name
Click Radio Button 'Variants' & press Display
In next Screen,
goto Utilities-->Transport Request , will get selection screen for Variants which you have to transport and
EXECUTE.

Process chain transport issue: variant

Hi xperts!
I've an issue regarding incomplete transports of process chain variants.
I've maintained the variant description & the recipient list.
When the request is imported in QAS, I'm missing the details of the variants. QAS-table RSPCVARIANTT is empty regarding type MAIL.
In addition the recipients 've not been imported too.
How can I transport the missing settings?
Pls. give an advice. Txs a lot in advance.

Hi,
would suggest you to go by this..
in the RSPC t-code go to the chain you want to transport and activate each step and sub chain if any...firsy and store it in a temporary request ....and then click on the truck button the top.....it will take you to the transport connection and there you can see obnjects are still in temp TR.
delee these TR now refresh the window of transport connection and you will see that it's not present in any TR now.
once done just select the main chain and then again create TR.
this time you can see it contains all the objects.
try to keep only necessary objects and delete all the unwanted objects from that.

Looks Funny, but i got the variants i have created in Dev to QAS. I thought of creating in QA but when i checked them, they already exists. Did u checked in RSRT , Query Variants after transporting the Query ?
In my case i have used the Variant in the APD's.

Transport of Variant in Infopackage.

Hi Experts,
I have a question regarding transportation, did change to a Variant (Message Recepient Email ID) in infopackage and DSO and I have to transport it to the Quality, not sure shall I select Variant in the infopackage to import or shall i select Infopackage?
I did selected infopackages..

Lets take an Example we have infopackage-P1 in Dev and Qty and they have same technical name and they are not sync.
I have edited Variant Message Recepient in P1 Infopackage and when its transported does it change Variant in Qty or all the changes which are there in the P-1 Infopackage Dev to P-1 Qty?

Transporting Screen variants

This is for an upgrade project of a system from 4.6c to ecc 6.0. There are nearly 400 screen and transaction variants that donot have any transport request numbers. how can i transport these objects???

Hi,
From SE03, manually insert the screen variants in to the request using the following,
Program id : R3TR
Object: SCVI
Object name : Screen variant name
This is again tedious as you need to include all the screen variants that are created in the system,
Alternatively, you can create a small utility in ABAP to include the screen variants to the transport request thro' the selection screen,
