Transport organiser - doubts?

In the transport organizer, i see a tree of all the transports in the system. one says Modifiable and the other released. Under Modifiable tab, i see many request numbers and the user name and beneath each request number, i see several other request number with other user id's too. And under that request number i see many components. Some of them relevant and some others non-relevant ones.
When i need to transport all the development to the QA system, do i need to the select the request number beneath the Modifiable tab and release it. Or do i need goto Transport connection tab in workbench and collect all the required objects.
which way would be more accurate and appropriate?
And some of the items i installed were in local object too .. do i need to manually change them to the development class or the system does that?
And when i want to transport an infocube, will that collect all the necessary objects? Will it collect the queries attached to it too?
Any pointers, documentation and directions would be helpful and appreciated. Something more like a cookbook would be really helpful.
Thanks in Advance,
Mav.

maverick,
the transport organizer, while it will most likely not make much sense, contains all modifications done to the system that are assigned a proper package, and hence, possess its own transport request number/s. let me try to answer your questions:
- when you need to transport from dev to QA, the MOST accurate would be to, of course, recollect. but it's not a good practice to do always since you're potentially retransporting things that aren't meant to be changed anymore, or yet. say for example, you have one infocube that has two update rules, where both have been modified, and one has been cleared for production use, and the other not. in the case of transporting the request number (assuming you have one transport request number for each update rule), you're ensured that only the changes that have been made will be transported. BUT if you decide to recollect for transport, the changes on those update rules may or may not be for release yet.
- yes, you need to manually change the development class from $TMP to your system. you can use SE03 for that.
- depends on the manner of collection you use.
i don't have any documentation, but help.sap.com is always a good place to start.

u need to mention all the infotypes in the filter of the model view controller, if u miss any one type the data related to that type will not be transfered for an employee
u need to transfer organisation with appropriate plan , object type, and its id, when u transfer an organisation if it has postions jobs and users assigned to it all the data is not transfered except the structure of organisation. if u need to fill these details u need to transfer postions , employees in the sequence u followed while creation

  • What is a Task with respect to Transport Organiser

Kindly can anyone explain what is a task with respect to Transport Organiser.
    With Best Regards
    Mamatha.B

    Hello Mamatha
A task is nothing else but a container for changes made by one ore more developers.
<b>Tasks are a means to organize your transport request</b>. For example, if you have a team developing on the same subject then you create a single request and for each team member a task. Every team member collect her changes in her own task. Sooner or later the development is finished and one task after another will be released. After finishing the final tests the team leader will release the entire request.
Note that this is just one possible scenario for organizing transports.

  • Transport Organiser Web UI

    Hi,
I am unable to open the Transport Organiser Web UI from the CTS window i.e. when i select to open it, it asks for the system to be openend and then a blank browser comes up, Whereas it works perfectly fine when given the URL manually.
    Any help?
    Regards

    Hi,
    1. Are you opening the web service from SICF?
The reason it asks for System ID is that the webservice config of CTS_BROWSER does not contain any indication of the system for which you need to open the WebUI. So it always asks like this.
The reason your direct URL is working is because it might be containing the reference to the system for which the CTS Browser needs to be opened.
    2. The correct way to open the Transport Organiser Web UI is by creating a'SAP Wyb Dynpro' iView in the portal and in the field 'Application parameters' enter 'SYSID=<sid>' of the system for which you are looking to open the Web UI.
Is this info helpful to you?

  • How to delete an entry in Transport Organiser

    Hi all,
I have created 2(say A,B) tables for a transport request number. Later i copied 'A' table to 'C' and deleted it. When i open the Transport requester there is a level
    TR Number------>
                                'Table Contents'--->
                                                                'TDDAT' --->A,B,C
                                                                'TVDIR' --->A,B,C.
If i am deleting 'A' it is saying -
"POSITION THE CURSOR ON A REQUEST, TASK OR OBJECT"
Is there any possibility to delete the contents?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Vishnu.

    Hi,
One way of doing that was Assigning the same Transport Request while Deleting the table. but since u have already deleted it and not assigned to any TR, u may have to follow different method.
Goto SE09 or se10, expand ur TR, double click on Task and in Objects Tab, u may delete it manually.
Plz get back to me in case of any issues.
    Thanks,

  • Transport organiser

    Hi Guys,
what are the prerequest to transfer a request fome development to quality?
                 What is development class?
    Regards,
    Rahul

    Hi,
    (1) Go to SE10.Find your request number ,then you will see
one development request number and one correction number.
    (2) First click on correction number and the goto toolbar
and click on the transfer request button(lorry icon).
(3)The at the bottom bar you will find the change icon will
transfer in a RED-YELLOW-GREEN sequnce.once it became red
you will know that it has succesfully transferred.
(4)Now again go to find your request number and transfer it
    in the same manner.
So in this way you can transfer the request from dev.
    server to quality server.
Development class will have the  list of all of the objects which is under it.

  • Difference between workbench request and customizing request in transport

    Hi Experts,
I am new to SAP BI7 work. i am having basic doubt in Transort request creations
ususally we create  the requests to transport the objects from Development  system to further systems.
can anyone please clarify me,  what is the main defference between the Workbench request and Customizing request.
    Thanks and Regards
    Mrudula

    Hi ,
The Transport Organiser maintains Change Requests. These requests record the changes made to the repository and customizing objects.Based on that objects changed they are
    1)WorkBench Request & 2) Customizing Request.
Workbench Requests are those that involve changes to cross-client Customising and Repository Objects. The objects are independent of the client.Hence the requests are used for transferring and transporting changed Repository objects and changed system settings from cross-client tables.
Customizing Requests involve changes recorded to client-specific Customizing objects .These client specific requests are used for copying and transporting changed system settings from client-specific tables.

  • Transportation ( how to transport objects from one server to another)

    Hi BW guru's
Please tell me the steps to transport objects from one server to another server.

    Follow the steps.
    1. RSA1 > Transport connection
    2. In the right window there is a catagory "all object according to type"
    3. Select required object you want to transport.
    4. Expand that object , there is select object, double click on this you will get the number of objects, select yours one.
    5. Continue.
    6. Go with the selection, select all your required objects you want to transport.
    7. There is icon Transport Object (Truck Symbol).
    8. Click that, it will creat one request, note it down this request.
    9. Go to Transport Organiser (T.code SE01).
    10. in the display tab, enter the Request, then go with display.
    11. Check your transport request whether contains the required objects or not, if not go with edit, if yes "Release" that request.
Thats it, your cordinator will move this request to Quality or Production.
    Hope its helps.

  • How to transport a Z table?

    Hi Friends,
I need to transport a Z (custom) table names "ZXXX". When we go to Transport Connection from RSA1 we can click on Object Types to see all the object we can transport. I dont see any object type that will let me create transport request for my custom table. Would any one let me know how can i transport this custom table to QA and Production system?
Ur help will be appreciated in terms of points.
    Thanks,
    Manmit

If you have difficulty in navigating in the transport organiser, then try the following:
you must have used the table to define a data source or something , right?
If so, in transport conenction in RSA1 - chose data source and in collection mode chose "data flow in before and afetr" and when the collection is complete, check if see the Ztable. If you see that, you are fine with the transport.
Then save the objects in a request and release in Se10.

  • Transporting XI Objects

    Hi experts,
I want to know how do u transport in xi, and also i want to know what is the system landscape in xi(ie do we have Dev, Qty, Prod). I am familiar with transports in R/3 but a bit new to XI(if u feel Question silly pls Xcuse).
Like in R/3 we usually release(transport organiser) going to tcode - se01, se10 and then the basis team moves it to qty and prod.
I have read some of the stuff, but it was not clear.
Looking forward for your early reply.
    regards, verma.

    Hi verma,
It depends what type of XI object :
    Basically and summarized :
-the abap objects ( e.g. ABAP mappings ) you of course do the same way as R/3
-the ID/IR objects you do according to export/import
-you can either use the file system and transfer the file manually from the export directory on the source to the import directory on the target ( = default setup : easy but not as managed as in R/3 )
-use CMS : Managed change management environment that will automatically do the export/import transfers for you ( it needs to be configured )
( you will need to post process usually the IR objects to complete with e.g. production settings although you can automate that dev/qa/prod system are replaced automatically )
    -the SLD objects : export/import
    regards

  • We have 4000 transports...would like to know the best methods of transports

We have 4000 transports...would like to know the best methods of transports.I understand mass transports and consolidation of transports through transport organiser can be of help ..However would like to understand more on the following points
1)In both the cases, how dependencies between transports will be managed.
    2)How Sequencing will be managed?
3)Which is recommended and under what circumstances?
    4)Pros and cons of each?
    Thanks
    Shamna

Have those transports already be transported (e.g. from Dev to Test?) - if so the transports from Test to Prod must be in the exact same sequence you transported them into Test because only then the coding status will be exactly the same.
If there was no transport yet then you usually transport in the sequence of the transport numbers - however if they have not yet been transported you don't know, if there are dependencies between different transports unless you kept a kind of log.
In that case the savest way to transport everything is to combine all objects of all transports into one transport and then let that one run into Test and Prod. That way you would not have to worry about sequence problems where a newer version is overwritten by an older version.
However the big transport only works if all the objects in those 4000 transports are not locked in any open request. You can create that transport by using SE03 and choosing 'Merge Object Lists' - just paste all the transports into the selection field and execute. You don't have to do all 4000 at once but do it in packages.
    Hope that helps,
    Michael

  • Requested deleted in Transport Organizer

    Hi,
How can we find out request deleted in Transport Organizer (SE10). Is there any table or log which possess the request and the person who deleted the request.
    Thanks.

    Dear Rakesh,
We just can find only modified ,released ,released from starting requests in Transport organiser,
I suppose we cant find the deleted requests and person responsible in BW side.
The Basis people may help u in this issue as they maintain dumps of what has been loaded and deleted on a timely basis..Please do contact basis People.
    Assign points if needful.
