Transport process chain by transport connection step by step

Hello expert:
how to transport process chain by transport connection step by step?
Many thanks,

Go to RSA1 -> Transport Connection.
Make sure Only Necessary objects is selected under Grouping.
Expand Process Chain -> Click on Select Objects -> Search for the process chain you want to transport.
Select it and click transfer.
When finished collecting - Click on the Red Truck. Create a transport request when prompted to create a request.
Then go to SE10 or SE09 -> Find your request and right click and select release on your transport request as well as the task under it.
After it is released you can check the log by clicking on the log button and see if your transport moved successfully to target system.
Good Luck.

  • Transport process chains

    Hi all
Please list out the steps to transport process chains from QAU to PRD.
We have all hte infopackages,DTP's,infoobjects int he production.
Now we need to transport ProcessChains.
    Intransport connection->Grouping option?collection option?
    Please suggest me.
    Thanks,
    Harika.

    Hi Harikag,
The problem that you are facing is most often faced when the transport is made from DEV / QUA system to production system. This occurs more often when objects already existing in production are re-transported to production. Most of the times the corresponding transformation / DTP's get inactive. Nothing can be done as the the entire thing depends on way you transport the objects to production, only prevention is possible or else you need to apply the cure :). Don't worry as this is common scenario during transports. Try activating the transformations manually or you can try to re-transport objects in correct order. Please check the below thread, it will help you to find out the programs that can be used to activate the inactive objects manually.
ODS and Transformations get inactive after i transport it in PD.
Also check the below SCN doc which would be really helpful in case of handling inactive transformations:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/10858449-1f59-2e10-0095-dde76e16d330?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true
Also in case you are transporting a chain then do remember that the start variant of your Metachain & all the local chains if any should be for future date else the chain starts to run automatically once the chain is moved to production. Once the chains are moved then you will need to manually change the scheduling option as per your requirement i.e main or metachiain for the required time & local chains with "start using a metaching or API option". This point should always be remembered during a fresh transport for a new process chain.
Hope that the above info helps you in solving your problem.
    Thanks

  • Transporting Process Chain to Production

    Hi all,
We have developed a query on cube 0PS_C04 in development which has been transported to Production.
    We also have a process chain in Dev, which loads data from 7 info packages (CO_OM_WBS 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 & CO_OM_NWA_1 & 2).
we need to transport the Process chain into Prod now. The steps followed in BW-Dev are
    1. RSA1 -> Transport Connection -> SAP Transport -> Object Types -> Process Chain -> Select Objects
    2. Selected Process Chain
    3. Created new Transport Request
    4. Set Packages
... I am not able to see any elements (ELEM) in the list. None of the items are selected. I feel this is the issue...
I have tgransported the query successfully and am able to generate the report without any data.
My previous transport ended with errors (when I had selected all the packages.
Please let me know whether I am going wrong somewhere or missed any steps.
    Warm regards,
    Vijay Badgeri

    Hi Dinesh,
I have checked 4-5 infopackages in Dev as well as production. They are all available in Prodn. Only descrepancy noticed was the schedule of the upload was different in Dev & Prodn.
Please advice whether I shd create fresh transport request for these infopackages and transport to production ?
If so, what would be its effect on already transported InfoPackage groups and Process chains?
eg. 0BUS_AREA_ATTR & 0BUS_AREA_TEXT were two such ips. They are part of IPG and are working without any errors till date.
Hope, this step will not land me in some other troubles...

  • Errors transporting process chains

    Hi,
we got some problems while transporting process chains.
The error occurs in the method execution. The transport log says:
Start of the after-import method for object type R3TR RSPC (Activation Mode).
Version 'M' of chain <i><name of the chain></i> was saved without checking.
    0 Chains Were Selected.
    Message no. RSPC031
Specifying process chain ID <i><name of the chain></i>, type V2&', and variant '' has resulted in the selection of 0 process chains. The selection has been called without confirmation by the user. This means that the user was unable to make a selection.
    The function is terminated.
There is probably an error in the program. Look for corresponding notes.
We can't find any notes for this error message. The whole thing is confusing, because sometimes we find the chain in the target system, sometimes not.
Has anybody experiences with this kind of problem and how to solve it?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Did you make sure that you transported all the process variants that the chain is using?
Please, check that by going to transport connection and transporting your process chain.
We always use that method to transport process chains: first getting all variants from the chain on transport connection and putting them on a transport request. Second establishing the start time of the PC and finally activating and scheduling the PC. You then release and transport that order.
Which version is your system? 3.0B?
    Regards,
    David.

  • Transporting Process Chains that execute based on Events

    Hi,
I am new to Process Chains and would appreciate some help.  I created a process chain in our Development environment.  The Chain executes based on an Event trigger.  I activated and scheduled the chain.  I then transported the chain to our Quality Assurance environment.  The chain looks like it transported correctly.  However, if I look in sm37, there is not a job out there for the Process Chain with a Release status.  Therefore, if I trigger the event, the Process Chain does not run.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks.

    Hi Tekii:
I created many Process Chains and I never had this problem.
NOTES: You cannot transport Process Chain Scheduling.
Do these steps in sequence and let us know what happened.
    1) Go to DEV. Open the Process Chain Start Process. Copy the Event Technnical Name. If the Event has a parameter, copy that one too.
    2) Go to QAS. Run transaction SM62. See if the event does exist in QAS. (You cannot transport Events, they have to be manually created). If the event doesn't exist, create that event.
    3) GO to QAS Process Chain, De-Schedule the Chain.  Open the Start Process. Check and see if the Event is the same name. Make sure that, if there is a parameter in DEV paste it in QAS. Check Mark Periodic. Now, Activate and schedule the Process Chain.
    4) Now, trigger the event. If the Event has a Parameter, you have to add the parameter too. NOTE: Parameter is case sensitive.
    5) The name of Function Module to trigger is: BP_EVENT_RAISE
It needs: Event Name, Event Parameter (if needed), & TARGET_INSTANCE (Copy the Source System Technical Name from BW QAS using RSA1 so that therer are no typos).
    Now, tell what happened.
    Good luck.

  • Error in remote call of destination - when transporting process chain

    Hi all,
I have earlier not had troubles transporting process chains from development system to test. Now I get the following error
Error in remote call of destination BW Test
    Message no. RSPC051
    Diagnosis
The following error occurred during the remote function call for destination BW Test:
Name or password is incorrect (repeat logon)
    System Response
A short dump has probably been written in the other system.
    Procedure
Look at the short-dump overview in the other system.
I know we have a transaction (RSTPRFC) where we give the password for the user that will do the activation of the PC after transport, but checking with the basis guy, and according to him there has not been any changes to this user. (As the user is the same as the RFC user used when setting up source systems). Running a check on the source systems from RSA1 gives green on all, so then the user should be correct...
(there is also no short dump available in the other system)
Does anyone have a clue on what could be done to locate the error..?
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Øystein

    Hi,
you are both right, and I got the issue corrected. In SM59 i have an ABAP connection that when checking it, gave me a logon error. When getting this connection working (by giving another password) and then setting the same password in RSTPRFC, the transport worked.
I'm just not sure I understand why this became an issue.
But anyway, thanks for the input.

  • Transporting Process Chain

    Hi All,
I have an existing process chain scheduled on daily basis in the prod environment. I want to change the process chain by adding some data load steps.
My question is, if I move the modified PC from dev to production. will the process chain be removed from daily schedule? I mean do I need to reschedule the process chain? or this change will not affect the process chain schedule?
    Experts Pls advise.
Note: Pls do not get confused with my other post regarding process chain, that is related to meta chain.
    Regards,
    Anand

    Hi Anand,
I also had such scenario in my project where i had to add some more data loading and index creation & deletion steps in my process chain. I did created a copy chain in development system and made modifications to the old chain & saved a copy of that chain in devlopement. Performed testing of the chain in Accpetance & Quality & then moved to production. You can also follow the same path so as to make sure that in case if you face issues faced if any, with the newly developed chain, then your old one is inctact and bussiness is not affected due to the issues in the newly created chain.
Once your new chain is succesfull you can move it to production and schedule the new chain and remove the old chain from schedule. This will ensure that the bussiness is not impcated due to this change.
Also one more thing to be remembered is that before you transport a chain to production make sure that you Metachain chain and the other Local Chains in the Metachain should have their start variant set to a future date or select the variant to "Run using Metachain or API" else as soon as the chain is moved to production it starts running automatically.
Hope this info clears you doubts.
    Thanks

  • Transporting Process Chains

I have not transported process chains before so wanted to check:
When transporting process chains do they by default come across inactive and you need to activate them on the receiving system, or are they supposed to be transported in the active state.  I would expect the latter but just needed a confirmation

    Hi Niten,
process Chains will be transported and needs to be activated and Schedules in the target system, i face the same probelm when transportes from DEV to QTY System.
even for meta Chains you have to trigger events and schedule the meta chains to be triggered by main chain for else mata chains will not be triggered.
    hope this helps

  • Maintaining Transported Process Chains

    Hello,
we transported few process chains from our Dev system to Production BW.  Now, we are trying to modify the transported process chains in Production BW.  It is asking for a transport# when we try to do this.  Is it possible to set the system, so it won't ask us for a transport# when making changes to transported process chains?

  • Hi Gurus , Please let me steps to transport process chain .

    Hi Gurus ,
Please let me know the steps to transport the process chain , I have created created process chain in DEV for materila master data .  The infopackges I have used in the process chain are already available in PROD  ,used in the process chain. Please let me how collect the objects.
    Regards
    shekar reddy

    Hi Sriram,
It would be really good that you collect everything in your transport request even if the changes are not made then also nothing will happen to your already existing info packages. In case if the changes were made to the selections in the info packages then they will be over written.
You would need to make sure that the info package is not getting executed at the moment of transport.
Also one more point that you would need to remember before transporting you r chain is that you should put the start variant of your chain to future date else sometimes once you transport the chain from development to quality the chain starts to run as soon as it is transported.
Your source system mapping would be totally dependent on the system that you have used in the development for example. suppose you have a Acceptance system name ( *A system for your info package then the mapping should be as *A -> *P( Production system) in the logical system conversion in production system. Also make sure that there is only one entry of your source system in the mapping.
also check the below PDF at SCN link. it would be really helpful for you:

  • Issues in Process chain after Transporting to Q

    Hi All
I have couple of issues with my process chain (in Q). We have recently upgraded from BW3.5 to BI7.0. After upgrade i have a change made to one of my Process chain. i have transported it successfully to Q system. I have collected all the related objects associated with the change in the transport. But when try to see the changes changes in the process chain in Q system i have the following issues.
    1. i do not see my changes in display mode. But i am able to see all the changes if i go to change mode (this looks weird and i dont know why)
    2. i am unable to schdule the process chain in Q system as i was able to do earlier. Now it is asking for Transport when i try to schedule the process chain. this was not the case earlier.
    3. In the transport i also collected a newly created infopackage and added it to the Process chain. But i do not see any link between the infopackage and the process chain (it was supposed to have a link as it had in DEV), i mean when i go to  infopackage it used to give me a mesage saying the infopackage is already available in Process chain which i got in DEV.
All the above cases were working per normal in DEV systems tested and were collected as required in the transports and moved to Q
Please let me know ASAP if any of you have encountered similar problems before and have solutions. i saw couple of related threads (some suggested to directly activate the process chain in Q system by opening the Q systems as an alternate) but could not find a solution
Any sort of help will be really appreciated
    Thanks
    HK

    1. Display mode shows only the active version of Process chain. When you go into change mode, it displays the inactive version (if any available). Make sure you activate the process chain in the change mode. Then the chain you see in display and change mode will be in sync.
    2. When you try to schedule, the Process chain will be activated as well. If your Q system is prompting for transport then probably the system is open for changes. If you want to modify process chains in Q and P systems, make appropriate Object Changeability settings in Transport connection in Q and P systems and make sure the system is closed for changes (SCC4).
    3. Use Transport connection to collect the objects required for Process chain. After transport, check the transport log and make sure all the objects are imported successfully.

  • Transporting Process Chains from Production DOWN to QA and Dev

    Hello,
We have a ton of Process Chains in Production.  I am looking for the easiest and most efficient way to duplicate those in QA and DEV.
What steps do I take to Transport them DOWN to the other two environments?  Are there any pros or cons to doing this, or is it easier in the long run to just re-create them in those environments?  Like I said, we have a ton!  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
The best practice is to have every development done in Dev then transport to QA and then to P.
If you are not following this process for PC you should.
Also, every now and then QA should be refreshed (meaning, copy P to a new QA system and by doing so all the data and config (including PC) will be in the QA system).
I would recomend to recreate the PC in DEV and transport them thru the landscape.  This way you have the correct process where every Development is starting on the DEV sys and moves to QA->P.

    Hi,
A SAP consultant told me to ignore that error.
Indeed, after creating transport with some new process chains (again I was informed about that error "APCO ...") and transporting it to production everything works all right.
The problem is described in sap note: 883745.
