Hi, How do you transport Reuseable Web Items? I have a Template that uses several "Reusable" charts and I was wondering how you transport the Reuseable Web Items....

Collect all the Web Items in RSA1 -> Transport Connection -> Object Types -> Web Items -> Choose your Item -> Transfer Selection.
In the right window, choose the object -> Right Click -> Change Package -> Assign Package + Tranport Request

Reusable web item

hi,
i have four cascading dropdowns,these dropdowns r common in four reports
instead of creating dropsdowns again and giving respective command options and assigning data providers
i wanted to keep them in the container layout and saved the container layout as reusable web item
but the problem is container layout is getting saved not the drop downs
and also i read in couple of threads that this wont work out
is there any way to achieve this y/n ?

Reusable web items : throwing exception

Hi All,
I have several web templates, in them i want to display the filter values so i created the information field that provides me the correct output as per my requirement and as i have to use the information field in my all templates so i saved it as Reusable web item. But when i included this reusable web item in other template except the one in which i originaly created it thorws the exception when i execute them.
Can anyone please guide me how to use the reusable web items. Its urgent.

I am not sure but it would be nice if you can do following
Try search ULS log with correlation id and find exact error and share here. If not able to find do following
Or in catch block write
Response.Write(ex.ToString());
and check what exception its giving.

Web items and HTML elements (for example, tables, texts, and images) that you insert into a Web template, as well as the Web template itself, have a context menu. This context menu has context-sensitive menu entries that you can use to call various Web Application Designer functions. You can, for example, use the context menu to save a Web item (for which you have specified properties by using the parameters) as a reusable Web item, call the properties dialog box for this Web item, copy the Web item and paste it into another Web template, or delete the Web item from the Web template.

Transport of BI Query/ web items

I would like to know that when we create a Query, or Report how to transfer it from Development system to Quatity and then Production.

Hi,
If you want to transport BEX queries then, after creation of the query (Saving with a Tech name) in the query designer automatically a pop-up will be displayed for transport connection.
Else we can do by another process:
Go to RSA1-> Transport connection -> Object types->Query elements->Query->Select objects->Find the query with Tech name->tranfer to Rt. side panel->select transport/Package. Collect the query in request. If you want to transport the web templates based on that query select grouping as In data flow afterwards.

How to transport a web template?

Can anyone please explain to me how to transport a web template which contains many web items (include 10 queries)?
After I collected this web template, I got error message when I execute it in Q.

That's what I did. I transported two web templates before (contain 1 query only) and they all worked. But just not this new one. Here is the error message:

Transporting a Web Report

Hello Experts,
What are the things to Check or Uncheck while doing a Manual transportation of a Web Report from Dev to QA. Are there any steps to be followed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Make sure the attached queries and views are moved along or before, and also any of the web items stored in the web item library is also moved along with the template. If the template uses a reporting agent then the reporting agent settings and packages need to be moved also.

How to change the size of the web item text in WAD 7.0

Dear All
I am quite new to WAD and I am having a problem with changing the font size of a web text item
I have searched already and someone suggested changing the Design property to HEADER1 or HEADER2 etc and then I should be able to change the font / size.
I have done this but to no avail
I want to have large heading across the top of the web template
am I using the wrong web item ?
I know I can key the text directly into the web template and change the font from the menu bar but I need it in an item as I want to export them through to PDF later

On the information you have supplied this has opened up yet another new part of WAD that I have not experienced ...TAGs
Shubhranshu - I have done what you said but as I have never used tags I have just had a look around and found that I can insert Any Tag but not sure if I should be doing that. If it is inert any tag , I chose FONT from the drop down and cbmAttributes defaulted into the custom tab for the class name but not sure what it wants in the Attributes and CSS Style tab, it won't accept what I am putting which is leading me to believe that I shouldn't be doing it that way.

I've had a look and although they talk alot about the XHTML code for tags they don't actually say how you do it in the editor - I would like to produce one that way first and then see the code it generates for it. I'm a bit apprehensive with changing the code direct as I don't want to mess anything up.

Web item : List of documents of an infoprovider

I have problems to display all documents of an infoprovider in a web item "list of documents" of a web template.
I chose as type of data provider : SELECTOR_DATA_PROVIDER and selected an infoprovider but I have the error message :
" The referenced data provider "DP_1" is not a query view
In the Web Application Designer, set parameter DATA_PROVIDER_REF in template TEST_COMMENTAIRE1 for Web item DOCUMENT_LIST_ITEM_1 to a valid data provider of type query view "
And the type "query view" does not respond to my needs because it is too restrictive.
Do you have an idea ?

Hi,
Goto RSA1 --> Metadata repository click Multiprovider , select requried MP and click again .
System would generate a detaild report including report list in next screen.

Web Item Report Error

I am running a web report that just has a query in it (testing). When I run it I get the error:
Web template error in specifications for the Web item report
The parameter REPORT for the Report Web item in the Web template is empty or missing
Add the Report Design (parameter REPORT) with the BEx Web Application Designer
Contact your system administrator. This error was recorded
Has anyone experienced this before?

I know this is a very old thread, but we just recently upgraded a sandbox to 7.0 and just trying out all the functionality.
I received the same error as the starter of this thread did but I'm just executing a query (that I created from the Query designer) on to the web (no WAD involved)... This function could've been calling the 0REPORT_DEFAULT_TEMPLATE where it's getting the error from. I reactivated the business content but I still couldn't resolve the problem.
That said, I couldn't really alter the business content using your suggestion for this because it is a template where other queries might be calling it... right? or am I missing something?

How to render web items based on the authorisation profile of the user

Hello,
Is there any way to render web items based on the authorisation profile of the user. The only way i can think of is:
- Write ABAP to look up into the security mapping tables.
- Convert the ABAP report into RFC-Enabled FM. The selection variables will be part of the import/export parameters of FM and table can be used to display the result.
- Create HTML template using WAD, write Java Script to call the FM and map the import/export parameter. Display the result in Table.
But i don't know How to use the Java Script to call Function Module (FM) and get back the authorization through parameter.
Is anyone know about it or is there any other method to do it? I can't find any solution and it is very critical for me.
Any help is highly appreciated.

Do you mean that you want certain users to be able to use only certain web items? I think you can use the libraries for that and assign them to roles:

How to multiple layers in the MAP web item?

Hi experts,
I'm working on a demo with BWGIS. I encounter several problems with the MAP web item.
My demo:
QA results visualized on global (region object - e.g. Europe, Asia), country (country object) and plant level. Use geo-drilldown to navigate into the lower layers functionality to get from the global view to the countries within one region and plants within one country.
My settings:
Region is a static geo-characteristic. For region I used the cont200.shp file. Also country is a static geo-characteristic, here I used cntry200.shp. For test I used ARCGIS to draw (points) some example plants in the country shape file. I uploaded this shape file to the plant object (also static).
My success:
I'm able to display the QA results in a separate global or country view within the 3.x Web template.
My problems:
A) The map web item in 7.0 does not display any data: it looks like no link can be made between the query result and graphic although we installed the latest IGS.
B) I'm not able to drilldown from a global view to the countries within one region (doubleclick on one region in global view) within the 3.x Analyzer and 3.x Web template.
My first question is about the concept of BWGIS:
1) I want to use geo-drilldown (double-click) to navigate to the lower layers. For example in the global view I see only the QA result per region (shape file of region object) -> doubleclick on Europe, I expect to zoom in to Europe and see the QA results for all the countries in Europe (shape file of country object). How do I modell this in the web application designer?
alt. 1a: 1 map 1 layer - 1 dataprovider - underneath 1 query with region and country in the row is not allowed, so how to navigate between the two geo-relevant objects?
alt. 1b: 1 map - 2 layers (2 shape files) - 2 dataproviders - 2 queries, one with QA result per region and one per country -> in that case both will be displayed at the same time, is not what I want. How to navigate between the two layers?
alt. other ?
2) I know how to make maps with multiple layers in ARCGIS, but do I need this for BWGIS, because one layer is one shape file? So do multiple layers in the map web item correspond to multiple layers in a ESRI ArcMap Document.
More specific questions:
3) Is there a lot of experience with the map web item in 7.0, documentation and working examples? Are there known problems (I can't find anything in sap notes). Is it better to still use the 3.5 Web Application Designer for this?
4) There is very little information on SAP help, SDN and other forums about BEx Map and moreover the MAP web item. Does anyone have more documentation for me?

Hiding a web item through the command line URL

We use the Web API and command line processing heavily to pass in different filter values, variable values, data providers, etc. to our web reports. I had a requirement within a given area to launch our web reports with the Navigation block visible on the web template. In our commonly used 'default' web template, we currently allow the users to switch this item on/off once they are in the report, but we always have it come up Hidden initially.
My question is this: is there some trick to getting a web item property changed dynamically at execution time from Hidden=X to Hidden= ? I have tried numerous attempts to format a URL to change this behavior, but have been unsuccessful. A sample would be: &ITEM=GR6&MULTI=X&HIDDEN= --> this is intended to make all items with 'GR6' in the name unhidden. But in my case, it ends up making more web items visible than I want. Even specifying the Item name directly does not help.
I have also tried applying it in conjunction with a command sequence from the Web API docs. Is there a particular command that this has to go with (i.e. LDOC? RESET_WEB_ITEM? etc.)? We have a button on the web template that issues the command <SAP_BW_URL ITEM='GR6' MULTI='X' HIDDEN=''> when clicked -- this works fine. How do I apply the same type of logic to the initial URL within the command processing?
Any help would be appreciated. I know that I can resolve this by just creating a copy template with this web item set to Visible instead of Hidden at the launch. I was just thinking I could reuse the main web template and control it through the URL.

I'm trying to implement Tobias Kaufmann's How To Paper Web Printing with Excel.
Before calling the respective Abap classes from my web template, I want to hide the web item Hierarchical Filter Selection as this one comes out ugly when downloaded to Excel. So what I'm doing is, I first hide the Filter Selection and then call the Abap classes.
Here is the coding that I am using:

Viewing an Analysis Application in BI Launch Pad : "Error while generating Web Item"

Dear all,
I'm testing an Analysis Application containing an SDK Extension.
It works fine when I execute the application locally.
However, when I execute it on the BI Platform, this error message comes up : Error while generating Web Item
I do have installed the Extension on the Platform :
The Adaptive Processing Server running the Analysis Application Service has been restarted.

Debugging a web item when executing a web template in BI7

Hi,
I would like some help in the following
1> Class name (or package that contains all the class/methods) when a particular SAP delivered web item get executed in a Web template in SAP BI 7.0
2> whats the class that gets executed for an 'Analysis' WEB item in BI 7.0. Since it has a lot of properties, do we have multiple classes for each of these properties, for example when I remove a certain row or column by drag and drop, what methods gets executed? And how do I figure out the methods for a particular function
3> eventually I would like to debug through this for trouble shooting, How do I go about debugging a web template
