Transport rules using distribution group as recipient

You can't specify a distribution group with this condition. If you need to create a rule that takes action
on messages sent to a distribution group, use the To box contains (AnyOfToHeader)
condition instead.
Anyone knows how to configure transport rule using distribution group as a recipient. I couldn't find  To
box contains (AnyOfToHeader)
 which mentioned on technet.

  • Block incoming calendar / meeting requests to a specific mailbox / user using transport rules or an Outlook rule?

I have a weird request I have never thought I would get. I have a VIP user that wants to receive no calendar invites / meeting invites from:
    - anyone outside of our organization (ie: from the internet)
    - only certain users from INSIDE our organization
Can I accomplish this either though a transport rule and/or an Outlook rule? I am on Exchange 2007 currently, and Outlook 2007 currently. Soon to have both on 2013 versions, migrating soon, but if possible, I need to implement this in our current environment.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
Based on your description, I understand that the VIP user don't want to receive meeting requests from anyone outside of your organization and certain users from inside your organization. If so, we can't create transport rule in exchange 2007.
I recommend you upgrade your exchange server 2007 to exchange 2013. If you use exchange 2013, you can create this transport rule like : under condition, the sender is this person (distribution
    group, you can add certain users from inside your organization to a distribution group) ; the recipient is this person (the VIP user);
the message properties include the message type(Calendaring); under actions, block the message reject the message and include an explanation/ reject the message with the enhanced status code of /delete the message without notifying anyone.
You need to create the second transport rule: you only need to change the first condition: the sender is located outside the organization, and other conditions and actions are the same as the first transport rule.

  • Only receive distribution group- mails when logged on.

    Hi,
Is there a way to automatically disable mail-receiving for users when they are not logged on to the AD?
We use distribution groups to deliver mails to platform-agents.
Most of them only need to receive mails when they are at work.
    Thanks for your ideas,

Hi Tester, sorry about the delay in response. I would like to understand your issue more and what you are trying to achieve.
Does the users need to receive emails sent to a distribution group (that they are part of) only during  8am to 5 pm? something like that?
The answer really depends on the setup that you have but for the most part, emails sent to Exchange and immediately processed and delivered to the respective mailboxes. Perhaps you can schedule email delivery from the outlook client - when someone is sending
the original email to the distribution.

  • Automatic rules to Internal distribution group failing when authentication is enabled

    Hi Forum,
I have set up a rule on a user's PC whereby when he ([email protected]) receives an external email (from [email protected]), it should be automatically forwarded to a
distribution group ([email protected]) with cc to
    [email protected] and
    [email protected] .
This worked well for some time until recently when it started failing. The only way we can get this working again is when we disable authentication to the distribution group ([email protected] ). We do not want
this disabled as we don't want the outside world to Spam this distribution group. No changes has been made to the system which could have caused this issue.
Is there a way to get this rule working without disabling the authentication?
    Cheers

  • ACS 5.3 Authorization problem with using Identity Groups in Access Policy Rule

Hello guys, I am found a problem which I can't solve regarding authorization with using Identity Groups in Access Policy rule.
ACS version: 5.3.0.40.6 (internal build B.839)
I have very simple RADIUS Authorization rule which authorize user on behalf of right Identity Group.
    Requested Identity Group exist
Testing user is created in Internal Users and has assigned requested Identity Group
    Radius Access Policy:
Authentication against Identity Store Sequence, where authorization server is external RSA SecurID device and additional attributes retrieval is configured from Internal Users.
Authorization is very simple – One Rule with only one Condition which is: Identity Group - in - Requested_Testing_Rule. Then Default rule is set to Deny.
When I will try login with my testing user then authentication against RSA SecurID is OK, but authorization will be denied by Default rule – It looks like my Rule with Identity Group is totally omitted.
I am managing several other ACS servers (version 5.3 but with older patches) where similar rules are working without problem.
    What I am tested:
Remove testing user and create his account again.
    Rename Identity Group
    Use another Identity Group
Remove Access Policy rule and create it again
    Use Compound Condition: System:Identity Group
Use Compound Condition: System:UserID instead of Identity Group in Rule (it is working without problem)
Do you have any idea where problem can be?

OK guys, it started working yesterday without any configuration change. Maybe it was some database inconsistence wich was solved by ACS itself.

  • Using Multiple Object Types in a FIM Managed Criteria Distribution Group

Is it possible to use multiple object types in a criteria based distribution group. So when building your criteria filter, "Select (object type) that match (all/any) of the following condiftions". Currently you can only choose 1 object type and
I want to be able to choose object type "user" and a custom object type I create for my contacts

You can create main condition as "any" and later add two sub-conditions - one that object in set "All People" and other sub-condition that object in set "All Contacts" or "All Groups".

  • Dynamic Distribution Group via csv file and Recipient Filter

    Hello,
I am trying to create powershell command that will read a CSV file for "Name" and "Dept" and create a Dynamic Distribution Group based on the following Recipient Filter.
Import-CSV Dist.csv | ForEach-Object {New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name $_.Name -RecipientFilter {((((((Department -like $_.Dept) -and (RecipientType -eq 'UserMailbox'))) -and (UserAccountControl -ne 'AccountDisabled, NormalAccount'))) -and (-not(Name -like
    'SystemMailbox{*')) -and (-not(Name -like 'CAS_{*')))}
I keep getting an error that "Missing closing '}" in statement block Char:314.  I added a "}" at the end of the command but then the command fails to read the .csv file.
Assistance would be greatly appreciated to determine what I am missing.  I have over 100 Dynamic Distribution list to create.
    Cheers

You're definitely missing a closing curly bracket.
You have a lot of superfluous parentheses in that expression.  You could certainly simplify it.

  • Using Active Directory - either Secure or Distribution Groups

Reviewing the security documentation for UCM 10g R3, it appears that we should only map to Active Directory Secure Groups and not Distribution Groups, perhaps even if they are marked "secure"? Does anyone know if this is a technical limitation or a best practice? Our organization has processes in place to prevent ad-hoc updates to Distribution lists and I'd like to map UCM using this group type in AD because SQL statements can keep the membership list current in a Distribution Group.

dll is not a good candidate for the Agent, this has to be an application(exe), and the server onces it identifies the PCs should push this Agent to those PCs and the Application should have the logic to Phone home etc...

  • Create Dynamic Distribution Groups Using Customized Filters

I am looking to create a new Dynamic Distribution List.
    Example:
DL - United States Users ([email protected]
In AD we have the 'Office' field filled accordingly, which contains the attribute USCA___ or USIL (US,California, etc or US, Illinois, etc).
    I was wanting to try creating these using this command/script;
    New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name "DL - United States Users" -RecipientFilter {(RecipientType -eq 'UserMailbox') -and (Office -eq 'USCA*')(Office -eq 'USIL*')}
    Assistance here please:
    1. What needs to be added in that line so that only certain users can email to it, rejecting all others (i.e. The Helpdesk or Corporate Communications)
    2. Is there a way to specify the SMTP address you want it to use?
    3. Is there a way to have it only add mailboxes that are enabled in AD so disabled mailbox user accounts wont be added?
    Thanks in advance everyone.

    Hi,
We can use the following command to create a Dynamic distribution group:
New-DynamicDistributionGroup -Name "DL - United States Users" -RecipientFilter {(RecipientType -eq 'UserMailbox') -and (Office -like
    'US, California' -or (Office -like 'US, Illinois')) -and (UserAccountControl -ne 'AccountDisabled, NormalAccount')}
Then as what ED says, we can use the Set-DynamicDistributionGroup cmdlet with AcceptMessagesOnlyFrom or
AcceptMessagesOnlyFromDLMembers parameter to specify certain users who can send email messages to this dynamic distribution group. And use PrimarySMTPAddress parameter to specify the primary return SMTP email address for the distribution group.
    Hope it helps.

  • Using Mail Transport Rules and the Exchange AWS API

I am looking to programmatically Enable and Disable hub transport rules from VS.NET and was hoping these functions would be available via the REST API. However, I can't find any references, which indicates that perhaps they don't exist.
The rules I want to access can be used from PowerShell "Enable-TransportRule" and "Disable-TransportRule" and I can use them fine from Powershell.
So, my first question is, are these rules available from the Exchange EWS API? They need to be triggered when users perform certain events within the application.
If not, I am guessing I will be able to automate these cmdlets into a C# application or ASP.NET/C# application. Is this a correct assumption?
    Thanks.
    Jonathan.

No you can't set Transport rules from EWS, EWS is a mailbox access API and setting Transport Rule would be considered an Administrative Task so you need to use and Admin API which for Exchange is still the Exchange Management Shell. You can automate
the EMS cmdlet with Managed code (eg you could front end them with your own rest service) using Remote Powershell the best place to start would be

  • Use of content rule vs source group for NATing

To NAT outgoing flows out of two servers, is it necessary to define a content rule and source group (or is just a source group sufficient?).
    Having trouble with Option 2.
    Option 1:
    service svr1
    ip address 192.168.10.1
    no port
    protocol tcp
    active
Also does CSS do NAPT i.e. alter the source port number for outgoing packets from source groups?
    service svr2
    ip address 192.168.10.2
    no port
    protocol tcp
    active
    content outflows
    protocol tcp
    add service svr1
    add service svr2
    vip address <externalip>
    active
    group outgrp
    vip address <external ip>
    add service svr1
    add service svr2
    active
    <add appropriate acl>
    Option 2:
    service svr1
    ip address 192.168.10.1
    no port
    protocol tcp
    active
    service svr2
    ip address 192.168.10.2
    no port
    protocol tcp
    active
    group outgrp
    vip address <external ip>
    add service svr1
    add service svr2
    active
    <add appropriate acl>

to nat connections initiated by the server, you only need a source group.
No need for a content rule.
    The CSS will port nat.

  • Transport Rule does not appear to be working

    hi,
I have an exchange 2013 environment.  i have a requirement to intercept inbound emails from external senders addressed to [email protected] and forward it to a single recipient.
we have an internal distribution list already using [email protected] that has 30 members.
I have setup the following rule
apply this rule if: the recipient is [email protected]  and the sender is:outside of the organization
Do the following:redirect the message to [email protected]
    Priority 0
    Audit : not specified
    mode: enforce
when i send a test email from externally all 30 people still recieve the mail.   i have tried restarting the transport service.  Can anyone please help me as i am struggling to see what might be wrong.
    thanks
    Paul

    Hi paul ,
From your description i came to understand that the E-mails from the external senders addressed to the distribution group [email protected] should have to be redirected to [email protected]
As per my knowledge ,There are two ways to achieve your scenario one is via transport rule and another one is via DL restriction .
    via transport rule
1.If you wanted to check  whether the transport rule is applied to that message or not you should have to do the message tracking first .
2.Then you have to enable the pipeline tracing log for the particular recipient in our exchange organisation . With the help of  that logs you can able to identify what are all the transport rules has applied to the messages received by the that recipient
Note: Pipeline tracing is only for troubleshooting purpose , once you have completed your troubleshooting please turn it off .
    Via DL restriction :
On that particular DL If you go to the option delivery management you can able to set the restrictions .
only senders inside my organization - This is the option where you can restrict who can able send an email to this DL and it would be some of the internal recipients or all the internal recipients .
Senders inside and outside of my organization - This is the option where you can restrict who can able send an email to this DL and it would be some of the internal recipients or all the internal recipients or some of the external recipients
or all the external recipients .
you should have to create a contact in case if you wanted to provide mail sending permission to this DL only for some external recipients
Please reply me if you have any queries .
