Transport sequence datasources

Hi,
Can someone explain the follwoing please:
I am doing transports at the minute. My first task was to transport all R/3 reuqests from R/3 DEV to R/3 QA. I then replicated the datasources in BW QA. My datasources are the same in both systems, BWDEV and BWQA.
When I try to transport the Infocube and I select with data flow before, I get the option to select Datasources.
1. Do I need to select them in my transport and why?
2. What is the difference between the datasources in the R/3 system and the option I get in transporting datasources through BW? Is that for non-R/3 datasources?

Hi,
If you find that there is addition of New field in R/3 for that DS then you need to replicate the datasource from R/3 to BW and then you import the TR (recorded changes for the exsisting infosource in BW).
if there is no addition and only some modification in the coding and there is no addition of fileds in R/3 then replicate the datasource in BW and it is ready for extraction.
otherway if you need to transport once again all the objects then select all source depended objects for transports.

Transporting objects in SAP BW is not same like in other SAP or non-SAP systems, handling transportation in SAP BW is some what different. Here below listed all the BW objects in sequence to follow while transporting with in the landscape.
1. R/3 - R/3 objects must be transported first before BW transports cab begin
2. Development Class - for backend objects
3. Developer Security Roles - End user roles for projects can be transported later
4. Application Component - including InfoAreas
5. Custom Tablespace / Custom Data Class - DBA creates custom tablespaces and Basis data class entries must be transported
6. InfoObject & InfoObject Catalogs - only object definition, no InfoSource or Rules
7. DataSources - replicate DataSources prior to importing objects listed below
8. InfoSources - master data and text
9. Data Targets for Transactional data - InfoCubes and ODSs (this can be grouped with the two following items

Error while transporting webservice datasources

Hi all,
I have created webservice datasources to fetch EP data to BW. and now i am transporting that Datasources from DEV to QA. I have colllected datasources alone in one req. (source system i have created in QA manually and i mapped that with DEV)
But while transporting i am getting the folllowing error,
3S3T   Start of the after-import method RS_RSDS_AFTER_IMPORT for object type(s) RSDS (Activation Mode)
Error Screen output without connection to user .
Error when activating DataSource ZANS_MASTER BI7001
Please through some light is there any predefined settings i need to do in QA system?.

Thanks for your kind reply.
There are no R/3 Datasources involved. Our BI Cockpit landscape is based upon only BI system. No data transfer to take place between R/3 and BI.
Secondly, you mean to say that I need to replicate my Source system in Production and then proceed with the transporting of the requests from Dev to Prod.
But I never did the same in Quality while transporting from Dev. Is it that it might have been done in Quality beforehand by someone ?
Also, when the Datasources have not been transported to Production (resulting in error) then how can i replicate these datasources in Production ???
Let me know if I have not understood correctly.

Transporting Webservice DataSources -

Hi
We are unable to successfully transport any of our webservice Datasources, or anything related to them. The tansport logs are not giving any exact clue about why the error is occuring, and what we can do about it...
Is there any specific technique/ process to be followed for transporting Webservice Datasources?
Please give us some clue on this... as our transport is stuck because of this.

Question on transporting a datasource on R/3 side

I have enhanced the extract structure (added one new field) of a sap delivered data source in r/3. So how do I transport this DS? if I just transport the datasource (0FI_FM_2), does it also include the append structure(new field) automatically.
So Please let me know the procedure (step by step) to transport a enhanced datasource from DEV to QA...

Problem while transporting generic datasource to test box

Transport SOAP datasources

Hi,
I've problem with transport SOAP DataSource. I've created InfoSource, Create DataSource with SOAP, etc. always write package and request. Everything works OK.
But after import from DEV to QAS i've error:
"Extract structure ZOXPBW0027 is not active. "
and
"The extract structure ZOXPBW0027 of the DataSource 6AZKJ_XML_Z is invalid".
This extract structure of course doesn't exist in QAS.
In DEV when I check directory entry, error message appears: "Object directory entry R3TR TABL ZOXPBW0027 does not exist".
Is this structure generated for data source ? (has system name "PBW" in name)
Should I set request for extract structure and transport ?

I've made it. But extract structure in QAS can't be activated, there is 1 warning:
"Enhancement category for table missing ", I thing, there is no problem,
and few errors:
"Field /BIC/ZKJ_XML: Component type or domain used not active or does not exist"
"Field TXTSH: Component type or domain used not active or does not exist"
"Field name /BIC/ZKJ_XML lies in external or unknown namespace but is valid".
Field data type are /BIC/OW_BICZKJ_XML_OI and /BIC/OW_TXTSH_OI.
Domain for both is /BIC/VCHAR_000020_000000 and exists.
I can't change package and transport this data type because of namespace.
This data tapes have Generation flag.

Transport Error - Datasource not available in the target system

Hello exports,
-- We have a custom Inboject zvendor
-- text master data is coming from 0vendor
-- need to transport the datasource 80vendort of the datamart + some other objects along with it.
-- transport from CLDEV1 to CLQLT1
-- included: datasource 80vendort, trasnfer structure, transfer rules.
-- error: Datasource 80vendort does not exist in the source system CLQLT1 of version A.
-- could you please suggest me if i have missed something in here.
Measures taken:
-- i have tried doing generate export data source in the CLQLT1 system also.
-- replicated the datasources for the self source system in CLQLT1.
-- observed that the datasource 80vendort is not yet visible in datasource overview of the self source system of CLQLT1.
Solution:
-- create a new tranport only for the datasource 80vendort, transfer structure and transfer rules.
Wondering if this solutions would work. Is there any thing I am missing...?
Please suggest. Any suggestions are highly appreciated.

Hi Sweatha,
When we are transporting data source, did you know that we should first transport the data source from R/3 DEV to R/3 QA (Source Systems) and replicate them to BW QA later on?
Because if we transport BW Objects first, we will get similar errors such as what you have experienced.

Charm and transport sequence

Hi,
If I have corrections A, B, C and D containing changes to the same object. A was released as a transport first, B second, C third and D fourth. They go through testing and the workflow in Charm, with final approval sequence of D, C, A. D was quickest to get tested, perhaps simplest change. C was second and A was last, perhaps the one to test longest. B on the other hand looks like it will need more time. I want to import A, C and D into production. I want to do mass imports into my production system. Using Charm, how can I ensure that (1) correction transport sequence in the import queue is A, C and D (transport release sequence is obeyed) and (2) B is not in the production system queue (release of transport in dev system does not add it automatically into the import queue in production)?
Don't worry about low level detail description, I am after guidance/ideas on how to achieve this.

Hi Prashant,
if you use normale correction SDMJ with project import, the import sequence A, C, D is secured, since the transports are imported in the sequence they were released in the development system.
If you want to prevent to import B you can use transport of copies.

Transport Sequence

Hi Experts,
Since we dont have time to collect all the objects again in DEVELOPMENT and test it in TESTING and send to PRODUCTION.
This is what I planned to do.
I have my list of all successful tranports from DEVELOPMENT to TESTING
Now I would like to send these successful transports in the same sequence from DEVELOPMENT to PRODUCTION
For eg, this is the scenario I have
I have successful transports sent over a course of one month as below:
Infoobjects
infosources
ods
rules
cube
rules
mp
infopackage
process chain
then,
new infoobjects
updated infosource
updated ods
rules
updated cube
rules
updated mp
then,
new infoobjects
updated infosource
updated ods
rules
updated cube
rules
updated mp
Since this transports sequence has been successful in DEVELOPMENT to TESTING,
will the same work from DEVELOPMENT to PRODUCTION ??

It should,
if there are no new change you have made in dev after transporting to Testing. and also make sure in Production transport source system will be your dev server. Basis will help you to make sure that.
Alos make sure you have not maid any change in you testing system. ( some time you have auth to make quick change in testing like Process chain.)

Transporting SOAP Datasources

Hi Friends,
I have an interface XI to BW. Design and development completed in DEV. For this we used SOAP datasource (6AZSAP_XI).
I tried to transport datasource to QA from DEV. but i am unable to do it.
Please let me know the process. How can we do this. Some of the blogs saying that not possible to transport soap datasource to QA.
Then how can we do this. do i have to create in QA. or is there any other options. I don't have the create authorizations in QA.
Please help us on this.

Can you just make all the Data source under a single transport request and releas
that particular TR from Se01 and right click on the Tr u will get an option for relase
and chek the DS wether they are transported or not once its done then transport
the remaining part like Trules and ODS or CUbe and its update rules Subsequently.

Hello friends,
First time transport in BI 7.0 and needed your help.
I would like to know in wht order should my BI transports be in so that i can also have my datasource replica included:
1) InfoObjects
2) Datasource (my custom datasource)
3)Transformation ( From Datasource to DSO)
4) DSO DTP
5) DSO
6) Transformations (from DSO to Cube) includes routine
7) Cube
8) Queries ( Where will my defined variable be, will itt be included in the query)
9) Process Chains
Please confirm or make corrections to my understanding of teh sequence.Also I would liek to ask where will my Infopackage fit in this sequence.Please advise.

Error while transporting custom datasource

Hi All,
Below is the scenario that was carried out in my project.
1. Created OHD to load data from a CUBE to Data base Table /BIC/ABC.
2. Created a custom Datasource ZABC_TEST with the above table.
3. Activated the DataSource and loaded the data. (Data load successfull. It works fine).
4. Tried transporting the above. But trows error while transporting the data source.
Error -- InfoSource ZABC_TEST is not available in source system BITST.
Let me know what can be done to solve the above error. Please suggest if i have missed out something.

HI,
The problem seems to be occuring since you are transporting both OHD and DS in the same TR request.
Transport first the DS in a request, then in another request transport the OHD.
This should resolve the issue.

Error while transporting Generic Datasource in R/3

Hi All,
I have created a generic datasource(R/3) on a view. As it was in $TMP, I have assigned the datasource, ZABCD, and the view, ZVIEW to a devlopment package and also to a transport request. I released the Transport request and when I tried to import it into Q, it throwed me an error with below messages:
Extract structure ZOX**** is not active
The extract structure ZOX**** of the DataSource ZABCD is invalid
Errors occurred during post-handling RSA2_DSOURCE_AFTER_IMPORT for OSOA L
The errors affect the following components:
BC-BW (SAP Business Information Warehouse Extractors)
The extract structure ZOX**** is the structure used by the datsource. I forgot to assign that to the earlier TR and I think the error is because the structure is missing in the TR. Am I correct?
How should I deal with it now? DO I need to create a new TR with this structure alone as the earlier TR is already released?

As you comment it is possible error was not include the structure in earlier TR.
You can create, in se09 or se10, an empty TR. In these transactions you have a buttoun with a box drawed. Set focus on your new empty TR and push button.
Add object from TR transported with error and the missed structure.
