Yes, it's possible to move from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.3
You should check Oracle document,
You cannot export transportable tablespaces and then import them into a database at a lower release level. The target database must be at the same or higher release level as the source database.

I have full backup of database,

Restore the dropped tablespace using RMAN?

Hello,
I have done a oracle tablespace re-org for PSAPPOOLD,PSAPPOOLI. Now I want to restore only the OLD PSAPPOOLD,PSAPPOOLI tablespace using TAPE backup via RMAN.
The probelm is I have dropped the old tablespace during re-org which is a part of the re-org. Is it possible to restore the dropped tablespace using RMAN?
My Oracle version is 9.2.05
if anyone has done this before, please share your valuable ideas.

why would you want to do this?
What is is you want to achieve by this action?
BTW: it's not possible to do that.
Check [Performing RMAN Tablespace Point-in-Time Recovery|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96566/rcmtspit.htm].
You want a "Tablespace point in time recovery" (TSPITR) for a dropped tablespace and that is just not possible with RMAN.
So, the easiest way for you to get this tablespace back would be to restore and recover the database to a different host.
Ah, while we're at it: using RMAN outside the BRTOOLS is not supported by SAP - so you better be a wiz with it because there won't be much help in case anything does not work.

I configured control file autobackup on and take a backup whole database with "backup database;" command and

I am receiving ;

In begining lines of rman command I saw that "control_files=c:\Auxi/cntrl_tspitr_ST1_dFcB.f" looks like using unix path format in windows? Have you any idea ?

Duplicate of Database - Restore of Specific Tablespaces using RMAN

Hi, is it possible to perform a duplicate of a large database to a point in time (from tape) but only restore specific tablespaces, this database uses partitioned tables for a week of data, each set of partitions have their own tablespace.

Restore a tablespace using RMAN

Hi all,
Please help me to solve the below problem,
This is a test case.
I have taken one L0 backup and one L1 backup.
Then I have created a table "TEST_TABLE" along with some values in "USERS" tablespace.
Again I took another L1 backup.
Now accidentally (for testing) I have dropped the table "TEST_TABLE".
Can I get the table back.
I have tried the following::
1. Took the tablespace USERS offline
2. Removed the datafiles manually.
3. Restored the tablespace
4. Recovered the tablespace
5. Made the tablespace USERS online.
Now when I queried for the table "TEST_TABLE", I couldn't get the table back.
Is there any way to get back my table.

Ofcourse we can use flashback but If possible I just want to recover the "USERS" tablespace users upto a specific time from the incremental backup that I have before the drop command.
I couldn't find the specific command to do so.

Error while using Transport Tablespace

Hi,
I am running into the below errors when I do the transport tablespace in 11g using the OEM --> Data Movement --> Transport Tablespace.
RMAN-03009: failure of conversion at source command on ORA_DISK_1 channel at 04/22/2008 08:28:32
RMAN-20038: must specify FORMAT for CONVERT command
When I search for the RMAN-03009 in OTN,Metalink,google , I get some unrelated hits with different message and not the "Failure of Conversion..." message.. for this message code.
Please advice if you have had the same issue and resolved the same.

Is it necessary to have same DBID for rman transportable tablesapace or for normal exp/imp transportable tablespace ?

But according to Oracle documentation, there's no any need for two databases to have same dbid to transport tablespace between them. Generally, database's have different unique DBID which make them different from others. So if you have two databases which runs on Linux and Windows OS and you want to transport a tablespace between them, you don't need to changed dbid of one of them.

Error ORA-39125 and ORA-04063 during export for transportable tablespace

I'm using the Oracle Enterprise Manager (browser is IE) to create a tablespace transport file. Maintenance...Transport Tablespaces uses the wizard to walk me through each step. The job gets created and submitted.
The 'Prepare' and 'Convert Datafile(s)' job steps complete successfully. The Export step fails with the following error. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Importing tablespace using impdp

Hi,
I am trying to transport tablespace using expdp/impdp like:
source side: expdp dumpfile=tbs1.dmp logfile=tbs1.log directory=datapump transport_tablespaces=tbs1
transformed to target side
target side: impdp dumpfile=tbs1.dmp directory=datapump transport_datafiles='/u01/app/oracle/sales/tbs1.dbf'
it is giving:
ORA-39123: Data Pump transportable tablespace job aborted
ORA-29345: cannot plug a tablespace into a database using an incompatible character set
when i searched in google some suggestions are given like do transport using rman.
But when we have the option in impdp why i need to go to rman tool.
i want to use impdp only. but i ma unable to use it properly while importing.
can you please alter me.

Cause: Oracle does not support plugging a tablespace into a database using an
incompatible character set.
Action: Use import/export or unload/load to move data instead.
i want to use impdp only. but i ma unable to use it properly while importing.So, as suggested, move the data by import/export. But, be careful, as you have different character set you may have conversions.

Upgrade failed 9i to 10g using rman

Hi all,
I have an instance 9i at computer1. And I want to create new instance 10g at computer2 using rman from previous 9i instance. I have took a rman from 9i instance. And I have restored the other computer. Then I want to startup the new instance (10g), I have following error:
ORA-00704: bootstrap process failure
ORA-39700: database must be opened with UPGRADE option
Mon Jun 21 15:24:03 2010
Error 704 happened during db open, shutting down database
USER: terminating instance due to error 704
Instance terminated by USER, pid = 7209
ORA-1092 signalled during: ALTER DATABASE OPEN...
What can I do?

Don't use RMAN as the DBUA (Really). Build a new 10 database and migrate the data using either data pump or Import/Export.
Create non-system roles first (create a script on oracle 9)
Then create the users. (Do not create system users)
(DBA_USERS should have all this info)
Do not move any SYS or SYSTEM schema objects. (Forget about SCOTT etc too)
Move all other schemas and compare.
Make sure you check for Database links and directories etc that need to be moved but are not part of any schema.
Database link scripts can be created from SQL DEVELOPER.
You can get directory info from DBA_DIRECTORIES
Double check all user and role grants at the very end.

R12 Rapidclone when using RMAN

Per note# 406982.1, the cloning steps are:
1. On the target server: run perl adcfgclone.pl dbTechStack
2. Create the target database control files manually using RMAN
3. Start the target database in open mode
etc..
Step 1 --- is the before I refresh the database from source...?

Can I use RMAN transportable database cross platform from 10g to 11g?

Hi,
I'm working on the migration plan, the source db server is solaris with 10g database while the destination server is AIX with 11g database.
Can I use RMAN transportable database for this purpose?
Coz I have read the restrictions on Cross-Platform Transportable Database, but it does not mention whether it can work for different version of database.
please help.
