Hi,
can sbody gimme a sequence of
transporting biz objects in BW
or do developers tranport any
object assigned to them
or sbody is assigned the duty
to transport all the objects
how is the work dished out

regarding who transport the objects, in some companies it's centralized to basis guy where in the other companies it's done by developers who 'own' the objects.

Transporting objects in SAP BW is not same like in other SAP or non-SAP systems, handling transportation in SAP BW is some what different. Here below listed all the BW objects in sequence to follow while transporting with in the landscape.
1. R/3 - R/3 objects must be transported first before BW transports cab begin
2. Development Class - for backend objects
3. Developer Security Roles - End user roles for projects can be transported later
4. Application Component - including InfoAreas
5. Custom Tablespace / Custom Data Class - DBA creates custom tablespaces and Basis data class entries must be transported
6. InfoObject & InfoObject Catalogs - only object definition, no InfoSource or Rules
7. DataSources - replicate DataSources prior to importing objects listed below
8. InfoSources - master data and text
9. Data Targets for Transactional data - InfoCubes and ODSs (this can be grouped with the two following items

Charm and transport sequence

Hi,
If I have corrections A, B, C and D containing changes to the same object. A was released as a transport first, B second, C third and D fourth. They go through testing and the workflow in Charm, with final approval sequence of D, C, A. D was quickest to get tested, perhaps simplest change. C was second and A was last, perhaps the one to test longest. B on the other hand looks like it will need more time. I want to import A, C and D into production. I want to do mass imports into my production system. Using Charm, how can I ensure that (1) correction transport sequence in the import queue is A, C and D (transport release sequence is obeyed) and (2) B is not in the production system queue (release of transport in dev system does not add it automatically into the import queue in production)?
Don't worry about low level detail description, I am after guidance/ideas on how to achieve this.

Hi Prashant,
if you use normale correction SDMJ with project import, the import sequence A, C, D is secured, since the transports are imported in the sequence they were released in the development system.
If you want to prevent to import B you can use transport of copies.

Transport Sequence

Hi Experts,
Since we dont have time to collect all the objects again in DEVELOPMENT and test it in TESTING and send to PRODUCTION.
This is what I planned to do.
I have my list of all successful tranports from DEVELOPMENT to TESTING
Now I would like to send these successful transports in the same sequence from DEVELOPMENT to PRODUCTION
For eg, this is the scenario I have
I have successful transports sent over a course of one month as below:
Infoobjects
infosources
ods
rules
cube
rules
mp
infopackage
process chain
then,
new infoobjects
updated infosource
updated ods
rules
updated cube
rules
updated mp
then,
new infoobjects
updated infosource
updated ods
rules
updated cube
rules
updated mp
Since this transports sequence has been successful in DEVELOPMENT to TESTING,
will the same work from DEVELOPMENT to PRODUCTION ??

It should,
if there are no new change you have made in dev after transporting to Testing. and also make sure in Production transport source system will be your dev server. Basis will help you to make sure that.
Alos make sure you have not maid any change in you testing system. ( some time you have auth to make quick change in testing like Process chain.)

Transport sequence order 7.0

Hello friends,
First time transport in BI 7.0 and needed your help.
I would like to know in wht order should my BI transports be in so that i can also have my datasource replica included:
1) InfoObjects
2) Datasource (my custom datasource)
3)Transformation ( From Datasource to DSO)
4) DSO DTP
5) DSO
6) Transformations (from DSO to Cube) includes routine
7) Cube
8) Queries ( Where will my defined variable be, will itt be included in the query)
9) Process Chains
Please confirm or make corrections to my understanding of teh sequence.Also I would liek to ask where will my Infopackage fit in this sequence.Please advise.

Transport sequence from dev to production

Dear Folks,
I am done with development & i would like to transport all the developed objects to production.
Could anyone provide the sequence along with necessary steps.
How to assign new requests to all the objects developed including queries.
Basically these are the list of objects:
Info objects,info area, info object catalogs,dtps, transformations, multi provider, info package, replicated data sources,queries etc.
I would like to assign once again new requests to all the objects developed and transport them.

Transport request recommended transport sequence

Greetings,
I have created a new Document Type in SAP DMS and would like to transport through the system. I am due to transport Roles, Customizing requests and Workbench requests.
Can you please advise on what the recommended sequence of transporting is? Is it Workbench requests first then Customising requests second then Roles last?

Hi Keith,
There are two types of requests, one is released and secone one is modified. You can select both of them.
There is no sequence for transporting. You can transport in any sequence as per your desire. For transporting the requests you need authorization for t-code scc1. scc1 is used to transport from one client to another. Also workbech and customizing there is no sequesnce. Better trabsport workbench first.

Transport sequence No

Hi,
We have done a heterogenous system copy of our system.As part of the post installation tasks we have performed the post instlln actions for transport orgniser(SE06) due to which our transport no sequence is initialised to start from the start ( for eg.HE1K900718 was the highest transport no sequence which had reached in the earlier system before system copy and now in the new system it has reinitiated to HE1K900002).
We do not want to start again with this sequence but rather want to continue with for eg HE1K900720 in this new system.We tried the prog RSWBO301 but there is no place where we can enter the lower sequence no as it picks it up by itself.
Is there a way we can change this in the new system to start the sequence from HE1K900720?
Please help.

New case but i guess this can be resolved by manipulating transport number range. I think you need to change it table E070L. Have a look at the following:

ChaRM change request/transport sequencing

hi everyone,
how is everyone keeping track of the sequence needed to bring change requests production?
Also, what happens if there is interdependencies between the changes made in two change requests? For example a change in A relies on B, and a change in B relies on A. If this was the situation, you wouldn't be able to bring A or B in first. How would this be corrected?

Change Request have to raised in Solman. You might be aware all change requests will be connected to a maintenace project / Implementation project in Solman.
In that project, your satellite system landscape have to be maintained.

Suppose for doing a configuration change in your BI system, you have a raise a CR in Solman and choose the appropriate maintenance cycle of BI landscape and continue process. Refer the solman rkt documents also.

i added 2 fields in existed ods which is feeding to 2 cubes.So what r the objects that i needed to transport from dev to pro system?

1. Use tcode: RSA1 - transport connection - check your Infosource and Trasnfer rules and once found, double click to transfer selections.
. Grouping---->under this 4 options r there(Use In data flow before and After)
Only necessary Objects
In data flow before
In data flow After
In data flow before and After
You have to select only necessary objects in this options
2.Collection Mode------> under this 2 options r there(Ue Manual collection)
Manual collection
Collect Automatically
You have to select Manual Collection
Then u'll see one clock symbol, run that, so that the necessary objects will be collected
2. Click the truck button and chose a package and then you will be prompted to create a transport request; create one.
3. Check you have all objects in the request for transporting.
4. GO to se10 and look for the request created in 3. above and click the truck button to release.
5. Then u can check ur requests under the released button.

Transport sequence in BI

I would like to know from your past experience, what is the best approach while transporting the objects. E.g. I learnt that infoobjects should go first then other objects etc. But I would like to have a list.

HI Gurus,
I have created data model in DEV which I have to transport .
My data flow is DS- TRANFORMATION -DSO-TRANSFORMATION -DSO.
I want sequenceof the objects to transported .
The same Newly infobjects are present in the both dso . Can transport Both DSO in same request as both contain same newly created infoobject or in differnet request?
What about the DTPS and Infopackage swhen I should transport them ?
Please guide me.

-import objects using stms
-u can keep both DSO in one request.
-you have to transport infopackage and DTP also.
- First transport DSOs & transport IP and DTP.

Transport sequence datasources

Hi,
Can someone explain the follwoing please:
I am doing transports at the minute. My first task was to transport all R/3 reuqests from R/3 DEV to R/3 QA. I then replicated the datasources in BW QA. My datasources are the same in both systems, BWDEV and BWQA.
When I try to transport the Infocube and I select with data flow before, I get the option to select Datasources.
1. Do I need to select them in my transport and why?
2. What is the difference between the datasources in the R/3 system and the option I get in transporting datasources through BW? Is that for non-R/3 datasources?

Hi,
If you find that there is addition of New field in R/3 for that DS then you need to replicate the datasource from R/3 to BW and then you import the TR (recorded changes for the exsisting infosource in BW).
if there is no addition and only some modification in the coding and there is no addition of fileds in R/3 then replicate the datasource in BW and it is ready for extraction.
otherway if you need to transport once again all the objects then select all source depended objects for transports.

Error in transporting process chain

Hi
i added two DTP's in the process chain and transported. The transport ended with errors.
The following is the error msg:
Results of check for process AND EVEN_4CEJM320EVCIY0L5L62W61JVB in chain PC_BI_TD_POSDM_CAST:
Process variant AND EVEN_4CEJM320EVCIY0L5L62W61JVB does not exist in version A

I saved and activated the process chain but still transport to QA ending with errors.
When i saved the process chain in DEV, i am getting the msg:

What does that mean?

If I got your question properly, Your AND Event is not Collected at the time of Transport.
Try to Re Export the Process chain with all necessary grouped objects.

Try to Check-- Save and then Activate and Then Transport .
Please follow the Sequence for the transport, You may recheck the flow again
