Transporting a role from QAS to DEV

Hi,
I have a role in QAS system.
I want to transport it to the DEV system,. I have released the request in QAS, but i could nto see the data file and co file in the transport directory
The tR route is as follows
DEV-> QAS--> PROD
Pls help

Hi,
You can just download the role to your front end system by going to pfcg enter the name of the role and then go to Role-->download this will download the role then you can upload the role to your dev system.
Transporting in the reverse way is not possible.

I have a list of 50 program, which they deleted from FROM DEV and are available in QAS. Now they ask me to move back the programs from QAS to DEV.

You may be able to retrieve them from version management. If one of your programs was called Z_MYREPORT, for example, go to SE38 on DEV, enter Z_MYREPORT then menu Utilities->Versions->Version Management. Even though the report was deleted, you'll be able to select the last version and retrieve it.
Note, however, this only works where the object was transported from DEV to QAS in the past. It works only with objects that support version management - so not sapscript layouts, for example.
And as others have noted, you basis team can construct a transport in QAS and transport it to DEV - but this should be last resort.
And you can always cut and paste. :-D

Perform subroutine not linking to function after refresh from QAS to DEV

Hi all,
Recently, basis did a refresh from QAS to DEV.
After the refresh, all my programs with perform subroutine statement cannot find the subroutine even though all my subroutines are in the source code itself.
May i know what is the problem that has caused this to happen? It is quite rare to find this problem and i am in a stuck situation right now.

Hi ,
I may not be right but whenever you create a perform subroutine and double click system generates few comments and form and endform that is linkage .
What if feel when system was refresh the linkage is disconnected though the code is there .
Then the best option would be to reactivate the program .
I hope it works .

Transporting a role from DEV to QAS in a Workflow

Hi,
I assigned a Role as the possible agent for a std task in DEV. I transported from DEV to QAS, first the Role (where I see the Std. task to which it is assigned and the corresponding WF template in PFCG for the role) with a Customizing Req. and then transported the WFlow template & associated std.task with a WBench TReq.
The transport is successful without any errors.
But, when I see the agent assignment for the task in QAS, the role is gone. Also, When I see the role Maintenance PFCG for this role, I don't see any WFlow tasks in the Workflow tab.
I tried to trasport this sequence(first role and then the wflow & std. task associated with it) twice, but in vain.
Can somebody pl tell me what's going on with the transport of the roles(that should include the wflow tasks & templates).

Infact I did first time transport in the sequence of WB req and then Cust. Req. It didn't help and then I tried the other sequence too.
And Could you tell me how to look into the WF configuration of the system to see if it is set to transport the Roles?
Actually, i tried transporting 3 roles under one Cust. Tran.Req, but only one Role got transported correctly and the rest two have been failing.
Pl. tell me if I am doing it correctly...

Transport planning book from Production to Dev/ Test system

Hi APO Gurus,
I need clarity for below mentioned point u2013
I have a correct planning book in production system. I have a different structure in testing as well as in quality system. I want to transport planning book with all data views and macrou2019s associated with it to development system (or in test system).
How to do this? Please elaborate with details

I did the transport from Production to Dev client using TSOBJ last week. Basis team helped in connecting Prod and Dev clients.
Everyting went ok except selection IDs. When I check 'with selection transport' in TSOBJ, it ends up in short dump saying Timed Out in reading SQL table /sapapo/sdpsetde. We increased the system profile parameter "rdisp/max_wprun_time" from 1800 seconds to 3600 seconds. It still timed out with same message. So, I created the transport without selection IDs and it worked.
Next, I downloaded the only required selection IDs (total 498) from the DP Planning Area in Production client to excel spreadsheet using table /sapapo/TS_SELKO. Then created another transport using TSOBJ.....this time I used the 'Transport of Selections' section for Selection IDs and used single value selection from drop down, uploaded the IDs from clipboard option. That worked.
Although my problem is solved....but by any chance, has anyone encountered that TSOBJ Timed out? Is there any OSS note for this?

Is it possible to transport an object from Production to DEV?

I have some queries and workbooks in Production that I would like to archive. I have not been able to find a method to archive, so I am wondering if I can transport the queries and workbooks from Production to DEV? I realize the queries may not execute, but so long as I can open them up and see their definitions in DEV, I will be satisfied.
I know this sounds a little bizarre, but is it possible to transport anything from Production to DEV?

you can set in production system to allow changes to obj rsa1->transport connection->click 'object changeability', and look for object type , and set to changeable.

Transporting roles from sandbox to a DEV environment

Hi all,
We have some external consultants who have been developing/modifying roles in a sandbox. They have put in a lot of work into this effort and do no want to re-create these roles in the DEV environment. Does SAP best practice allow us to transport these roles from the SANDBOX to the DEV ? or do we insist that the roles be re-created in the DEV box ? Will there be maintenance issues down the road if we do the tranport ?

Transport All Roles to Another System

I have one requirement. I want to create same roles in Development System that I have made in QA System.
So is there any technic, I dont have to make it again in Development system and copy from QA system?

Hi,
Transport is not possible from QAS to DEV system.
So in this case you can use upload download roles.
Go to PFCG. Create one composite role and add all the roles that you want to transfer.
Then select that composite role in PFCG screen. Go to Role --> Download. It will ask to save the role file. Save it on your machine.
Now login into the DEV system, go to pfcg. Go to Role --> Upload and select the file which you have stored earlier.
It will create all the roles in DEV same as QAS. You have to create profile of all that role.
You can generate mass profile using SUPC. Go to SUPC and select all the roles which you have transfered and generate their profile.

Error while uploading roles from quality to production

Dear friends,
I have to upload roles from quality to production.
I have downloaded it from qualtiy but while uploading to production it is giving me an error "File does not contain valid data".
Can anybody tell me what could be the problem and how to resolve it.

the best way is to transport the roles from DEV to QA and then to production as julius suggested
are you trying for mass down load are single role
Mass download
go to PFCG >> utilities>> Mass download>> select all the roles which you want to move it to production
and execute save it on desktop
now go to production system>> go to PFCG>>in menu click on roles>>click on upload>>select the file which is saved in desktop and click ok
mass generation of roles
in the menu click on utilities>>mass generation>>give the role names with you have uploaded and click on execute select all click on genetate button
download a single role
go to PFCG>>in the menu click on role>>click on down load and save it on desktop
now go to production system>> go to PFCG>>in menu click on roles>>click on upload>>select the file and click ok
now you needs to manully generate the role
do the user comparison

How to copy role from R/3 to BW and other SAP systems

hello all,
I have created a role in R/3 dev systems, Now the requirement is I have to create same role in BW, GTS etc
Is there a way I can copy or transport the request from R/3 dev to other SAP systems. I am asking this becuase this role is kinda messy with lot of auth objects and it will take me lot of time to create it fresh in other systems.

You can transport the role ur use download/upload. You reach all of these function in the menu on the entry screen of transaction PFCG.

How to copy a role from one client to another in a system using the CUA?

Dear all,
I have a question about transporting roles. We have CUA configured on our SAP system. Our development environment contains several clients. Recently I created a role by using PFCG in the development environment named E1D-100. Later there was a need to affect a user by this role but on another client of the development environment named E1D-200.
How can I transport a role from a client of the development environment to another client of the same environment.
While I use SU01 to assign the role, after clicking on "user comparing", I can see that the new created role exists on E1D-100 (the client of the development environment where the role was created), but I see that the role doesn't exist on the other client E1D-200.
How should I proceed?

Can we transport a smartform between IDES and DEV

They are dynamically generated.

Transportation of Datasouces from BI DEV to BI QAS

Hi all,
         We have been facing some troubles while transporting from the BI DEV to BI QAS side .Our R/3 DEV source system is IED200 and R/3 QAS is IED400. I have trasnported all respective datasources from R/3 DEV to R/3 QAS , replicating the same on the BI QAS side.While Transportation of the datasources from BI DEV, its throwing back and RC=8 error . Its states that the Source System IED200 does not exist. Can you please suggest what is the next step that is to be taken ?

RSA1 --> Transport Connection --> Conversion(see button)
Maintain new entry:
Original Source system     Target Source System
IED200                             IED400
Then re import.

We have EP6 SP11 -erp2004
I will be transporting roles from the dev environment to a QA(quality assurance) and a production portal server.
Only the roles needs to be transported, <b>no</b> user assignments to be transported.
I have read some docs on this and would just like to confirm this is the procedure:
Basically:
1.Export the roles to a common directory
2.Importing it in qa and prod
3. From here onwards i need help on..Do i add the roles through delta links??? What other steps needs to be done?

Transport Software Component from DEV to QAS

Hi all
I have a swc dev system in PI 7.1 which I transported through CTS to qas successfully, but not visible the swc in the sld of qas, How I can leave the sld of qas consistent with dev?

First you have to add this SWC in SLD QAS.
You can do it synchronizing both SLD, like my answer above.
