Transporting Dashboard from BI Dev to BI Prd
Hi all,
I have created a dashboard in visual composer and in the system i choose BI Dev server. Now I want to transport that dashboard to BI Prd.
Is there any way to do this?
Best Regards,
AI.
Hi
This is the correct way to move the VC model to Prd. You need to follow the steps below -
1. Move all the BI changes to BI Prd.
2. Change system to BI prd in vc dev itself.
3. Check whether everything is coming correctly in Bi PRd.
4. Deploy 'Entire Model' (there is check box when you select deploy)
5. Move the VC model to Ep Prd.
Then you can see everything here you need to check that EpPrd should be connected to BI Prd.

Transporting InfoCube from bw dev to bw prd
Dear All.
I need to transport the infocube which is in bw dev to bw prd through bw quality. the infocube is created in bw dev was just "install", not "install with transport". is there any transaction or any other option with which i can transport it to all the way to bw prd. please advise.Hi,
go to RSA1.
Click on Transport connection in the left hand side panne.
new screen will pop up
In the right hand side panel, click on grouping and select only necessary objects.
NOw click on object types.
Click on infocube and select the necessary infocube.
Click on transfer and then check whether all the necessary objects has been selected or not.
Then click transport to transport the Infocube to the Quality system..
It will ask for transport request, then you can easily create a transport request...

While transportation i am getting below error.
DataSource 8ZFIAR_O3 does not exist in source system EBP740 of version A |

Please suggest.
I have transported all the objects propely.
Regards,

This issue could be because the Application Component hierarchy might not be installed in Production System.
Collect the Application Components and transport to Production. Then reimport the failed request, should resolve.

Transporting Developmenrts from PI DEV to PI Prod
Hi Experts,
in my PI server, when ever I do a development in the ABAP stack, I release and transport the request to Basis. And In case of developments in Java stack, I use Change Management Service - Transport Studio to move it.
Apart from these processes, what other practices / processes are done in the industry to move developments to Prod..
Regards,
ArnabHi,
What is CTS+ and why is is introduced:
The Change and Transport System (CTS) is a tool that helps you to organize development projects in the ABAP Workbench and in Customizing, and then transport the changes between the SAP Systems in your system landscape.
The XI use case for CTS+ introduces a new transport handling mechanism that offers tighter integration for the transport of ABAP, Java, and Integration Builder objects (Integration Repository and Integration Directory) using the Change and Transport System (BC-CTS) functionality.
As your XI system requires both the ABAP and the Java stack of the SAP NetWeaver Application Server, the following transport tools are available after installation:
u2022
The ABAP transport environment (BC-CTS)
u2022
The file export and import mechanisms or CMS integration to transport Repository or Directory objects in your transport landscape
In addition, you might also have to transport Java development objects by using the SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure itself.
The enhancements to CTS in combination with the SAP Solution Manager Change Request Management (ChaRM) address the following issues:
u2022
Synchronized transports for mixed systems (ABAP & Java)
u2022
A unified application for mixed system landscapes
u2022
Tracking of non-ABAP transports including Change Request Management
For your XI landscapes there will be one central transport environment with CTS+ where you can manage all XI-relevant transport objects from a single entry point.
This how-to guide describes the configuration settings you must make in the CTS+ system and XI systems. The functionality must be set up according to the release version of the integrated XI system. The two configurations will be described separately:
u2022
Configuration setup for releases prior to SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS12 (also for SAP NetWeaver 2004 SPS14 and higher).
u2022
Configuration setup for release SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS12 and higher.
Refer the link for CTS+ step by step method of transport:

Error when transporting Webservice from our DEV system to QA system
Hello, I created a web service from an rfc by following the wizard from Utilities>More Utilities> Create Web Service. This was created in our 030 client of DEV. I had to create two transports one client independent that was the VI and Service and one Client dependent for the actual webservice. I then transported the webservice to our DEV 200 client and all worked well. Next I transported both to our QA box, first the vi/Service transport then the webservice transport. This is not working, in our QA system, from wsadmin when trying to get the wsdl error is Could not determine wsdl address (ICF ERROR) and from wsconfig when I pull up the service definition and variant the status shows a red stop sign. Is there a trick to transporting this webservice to different systems?
I def award points for helpful answers
Cheers
Devlinhi,
I had this problem once and in my case the service wasn't activated in SICF.
so see your service tree under /sap/bc/srt/rfc/sap/<your_service> and probably it's inactive (grayed out). right klick and activate it.

I am looking for a way to go from the development (DEV) environment to the production (PRD) environment in a controlled manner.
As I do not want to manually click around with a walk-through screen-shots document = error prone.
As I read these articles

I still have some questions:
1. Can all MPs (un-sealed) be exported from DEV and imported to PRD without breaking things?
2. Are there any known pitfalls?
3. Do you have some tips on this matter? In other words, how do you manage this?
Regards,
ErikAlex is spot-on. Most MPs are environment/management group independent.
But some MPs contain what I call "Environment Specific Variables". In my experience, ESVs are in:
1) Templates (such as the runbook guids)
2) Criteria blocks (like view criteria, and rule criteria)
3) Parameters (such as write action parameters, and console task parameters)
Alex already gave an example of a template ESV.
An example of a Criteria ESV might be some view that you developed that returns objects that have a specific set of values in your dev environment, but may be different for your prod environment. ie: You have a view whose criteria looks afor a specific business
service ServiceId property. Let's say "Business Service X". But "Business Service X" has a different ServiceId in your dev environment than in your prod environment. So, every time you import your view MP from dev to prod, you have to remember to change your
criteria.
A quick Parameter ESV example; you have a notification subscription (a rule+writeaction). In Dev, you've hardcoded the notification recipient to be yourself. In Prod, the recipient has to be your boss. So, every time you import your MP from Dev to Prod,
you have to remember to change the recipient parameter in the subscription's writeaction.
Like Alex said, handling ESVs by hand is error-prone and time consuming.
Alex, when you write that utility, you should make it more robust. Within an MP, allow a user to pick and configure
any ESV. Store that configuration. Then, just run the MP through the utility and have it automatically set all the configured ESVs to the appropriate environment specific value :) (It's been something I've wanted to write into TFS for
a while, but I never take the time to do it ;) ) If an ESV is missing (because it was removed or changed in such a way that it no longer resembles the configured ESV), throw a warning during conversion. -
Transport Error from BI DEV to BI QUAL in Method Exec
Hi: Hope youre all having a wonderful day. I am dealing with a brand new installation of BI7 and ECC 6 (on the R/3 side). Recently I activated some extract structures on the R/3 DEV and had them transported on to the Quality box and everything went well. I then had my Multiprovider/Infocubes/Datasourses on the BI dev transported to BI Quality and everything but some objects did not make it thru. I got an error 8. I looked into the error log and it everything but the 'Method Exec' had succesfully transported. The following is a brief excerpt from that;

BobbySiHi Bobby,
You need not to activate the Objects in Q system exculsively. Once your transport request is succesfull from D to Q, the Objects will be ready for data loads. Even same with Transfer, Update Rules (3.5) , Transformations, and Infopackages..and routines..etc. Just re-check the missing object in the transport error log and check whether it has been in another request.
Please get back if you have any questions.

How to Transport iViews from Portal Dev system to Prod system?
Hello friends,
This is an urgent request and it would be of great help if you can give me a solution to this.
We have a Development Portal and a Production Portal. There is no QAS Portal. We are on EP 5.0 and BW is 3.5. Coming to my question, I have created an iView on a Web Application Designer template and assigned it to a role on the Development Portal. The report displays well on the Portal. Now I want to move this newly created iView to Production Portal. I absolutely have no idea how to do this as it is generally a Portal person's work and I have been asked to do this as the Portal person is currently on leave. I need to move the iView to Production as quickly as possible and I would really appreciate if any of you can send me detailed steps on how to do this.
The best way to say thanks in SDN is to assign points to helpful answers and I will not forget that.
Thanks,

Transporting Iviews from QA/DEV system to production system
Hello All,
I have some iviews that are based on BW report Iview (BEX ). I have them developed in the qa environment. How can I transport the same iview to the production server.
The portal landscape is some thing like this.
We have a devlopment and qa portal , these are accessing the DEV and QA bw systems respectively.
Then we have a production portal server and a production BW server.
Now we have developed some reports in BEX and those are published on the development portal using Web Application Designer.
How can we trasport the same iviews to the production environment? or first of all is it possible to transport the same? We are on EP 5.0 Sp4 and BW 3.5
Thanks in advance
Pradeep BhojakBhojak,
Yes it is possible to do it. Look at export option under System Admin menu. You can export everything as a package and import the same pakage into your Production system.
Good Luck.

Transporting roles from dev to qa and prod servers ep6sp11
Hi
We have EP6 SP11 -erp2004
I will be transporting roles from the dev environment to a QA(quality assurance) and a production portal server.
Only the roles needs to be transported, <b>no</b> user assignments to be transported.
I have read some docs on this and would just like to confirm this is the procedure:
Basically:
1.Export the roles to a common directory
2.Importing it in qa and prod
3. From here onwards i need help on..Do i add the roles through delta links??? What other steps needs to be done?Hi Pradeep
Thanx for your reply.
With the exception of the delta link assignment, i will assign it directly, I can just follow the procedure i have written?

To revert back a transport request from prd to dev server
hi experts
how to revert back a transport request from prd server to
dev server?
a transport request has been wrongly transported
and it has make major changes in production server,
now we want to revert back that request , we know the request no.
regards
pankajAll you have to do is create an order of transport type "Transport of copies" in PRO.
I give you the steps to follow:
1. Go to SE01 and create a new order (remember the type "Transport of copies").
2. Enter the data of the order of transport that is going to come back.
3. Enter the target, here is where you asign the target system to carry the request.
4. Now just add the number of request to the new request you just created.
5. Finally released the request from this transaction.
6. Check on the queue of transport in DES, the request must appear there.
I hope you serve =) -
Transport object from Prod to Dev
Hi Folks,
Developer wants to restore a version of SAP "Smart Form" from production to Dev system as the one in dev system lost some modifications. In Dev system, it was always showing the current active version and there are no traces of old versions or i am not looking in the correct place.
In this particular landscape, there is no transport path between Dev and Prod. We manually FTP transports (Cofile and data files). Could you please, guide how to create a transport with a "Smart Form" from production to dev. After searching the forum, i could find only one posting talking about opening the production system and create a transport. I can open the production system for a brief period and create a transport but i am seeking for help if any one has done this before.
I am not sure if i have to crearte temporatry transport path.
Thanks a lot in advance.Hello again rk_007
on this case, you can create a 'temporary' transport route from Production to Development (temporary on the sense that you can delete it afterwards. By all means, this route is just another normal one). By doing so, you will be able to create a transport request in the Productive system, release it and import it on the other system.
You just have to go to u201CSTMS --> Overview --> Transport Routesu201D, create the route you want and distribute the new configuration. Once that the transport is done you can delete that transport request.
Do you know who to manage transport routes? It's not difficult, you need to go to STMS transaction, click on the routes button (or Shift + F7), go on 'Edit' menu, then 'Transport Route' option then 'Add Transport Route'.
You can find everything explained here:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/44/b4a1df7acc11d1899e0000e829fbbd/frameset.htm
Further and valuable information can be found here:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/57/38de0c4eb711d182bf0000e829fbfe/content.htm
http://www.sap-img.com/basis/transport-request-within-same-server-different-clients.htm
http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/EmTech/TMSassigningclassorpackagetoroute
But there is another option where the creation of a transport route is not needed, which might fit your need (and which I believe it's the FTP option you're already using):: you can create the transport request in Productive system (from SE01) and instead of creating a Workbench transport request, create a Transport of Copies. Once that the request is created, you can add the objects you need manually and release the transport request. The datafile and cofile will be created in the data and cofile directories of the transport directory of the Productive system; now you will have to copy manually (at operating system level) the datafile and cofile of the transport request to the transport directory of the Development system, and go to u201CSTMS --> Overview --> Imports --> double click in DEV --> Extras --> Other Requests --> Addu201D to add this transport request to the import queue of DEV system. Now you will be able to import it into DEV, avoiding the creation of the transport route from PRD to DEV.

SDHi.
I have collected all neccessary object which query contains, but after releasing the request it shows the message,
The request contains message that have already been edited & transported to other projects. To avoid overshooter problem when importing you need to create dependency information for the request with which object were last transported. The requiered information is listed here together with the existing information.
Should i go ahed with above message???? Is there any dependency?
