Transporting Delta Infopackage.

Hi Experts,
Do we need to do INIT first in target system when transporting Delta Infopackage? Will the transport fail if no initialization is done?

Hi,
Its not needed.
But if you have not done INIT in Production, the delta package will be transported without any errors, but the update type will be set to "Full" automatically.
After doing the INIT , you have to set the update type as Delta update for the transported info package.

Unable to create Init Delta InfoPackage.

Hi Experts,
I am working on BI 7.0 within Solution Manager (GSB 100).
Since I am extracting data from only 2 tables into 2 different InfoCubes, we did not require to create any Master Data loads.
In order to load these 2 InfoCubes, I have created 2 Transactional Generic DataSources in RSO2. When I try to create an InfoPackage from the context menu of these DataSources, Only Full Update is coming up in the Update Tab.
I'll create 2 Process Chains eventually for each InfoCubes. How can I create one Init Delta with / without Data Transfer and another Delta InfoPackage?
Any help is very much appreciated. Points will be assigned.

Quick one... If I wanted to do a Delta Load each time except for the very first time (i.e. Init Delta), it better to have 2 InfoPackages. But should they be as below:
1. Init Delta (should this be With Data or Without Data Transfer...?)
2. Delta Update

How to edit data selection(Date) for an Init Delta Infopackage

Hi Experts,
We have a Process Chain which contains an Delta Infopackage.
This Delta Infopackage has a Data Selection (Date) condition which is till 12/2008. As well the same date selection is present in the init method as 12/2008.
Also we need to change the date selection in the data sources in R/3 side.
*Is there a way to edit the Init condition so that we can pull 2009 data without deleting the present Init and recreating a new Init?????? please suggest us with the procedure for the same.
Also could you tell us the impact of changing the date selection in BW and R/3 side??

I followed the steps you mentioned.
I created a new infopackage, gave the condition (01/2009 to 12/2999) and did a Init without Data transfer.
1. Now if we do a Delta load, will the loading be based on both Init Selections (01/2004 to 12/2008 and 01/2009 to 12/2999) or will it take the recent Init condition only(01/2009 to 12/2999)??
2. After doing the New Init(01/2009 to 12/2999), the Delta InfoPackage still shows the old Data Selection (01/2004 to 12/2008) In Selection Tab of IP, do we need to change the Date Selection as 01/2009 to 12/2999?
3. Where can we the Data selection in R/3 (TCODE)??

Delta Infopackage

Dear Experts,
Could you please tell me the difference between init and delta infopackage.
shall there be two infopackage ie one for init and one for delta.
What i understood is initil when we run the init .then the next time we will get delta infopackge.
Please correct me if i am wrong.
Shall this be done in the same infopackge or we need create init in one and create new for delta.
Please explain in detail.
What do u means my initialisation and if i delete the init what will happen.

When I run delta infopackage no data was loaded

Dear all friends
I created a datasource by view in R3 side(t-cd rso2)
and delta field is one of view key
In bw side I created two infopackage init&delta
one case
1, run init infopackage without data , no problem
2,create delta infopackage (timestamp UL 1800,LL 0)
3,run delta infopackage but no data can be loaded
two case
1, run init infopackage withdata , no problem (32 records were loaded)
2,create delta infopackage (timestamp UL 1800,LL 0)
3,run delta infopackage but no data can be loaded
4, I checked rsa7, and found the time stamp is 0 WHY?
When I test I also insert or delete r3 side records into table
but I can not load data to psa with delta update

If u miss any delta records then only u have to run the repair full request . If delta records are not extracted then better to manually extract the delta infopackage.

Transport of Infopackages didn't change logical source system

I have transported a good number of process chains to test. However the infopackages are not visible in out test system. I looked in table RSLDPIO using options 'Active' and logical system 'testERP111' and they wern't there.
However, when i try the selection 'Active' and 'devERP111' they are there.
SO this means that the logical system name conversion hasn't worked. EVen though we have have the conversion devERP111 > testERP111 set up in the conversion of logical system names.
We have many clients (111, 112 113) on our system so the conversion is something wheich is always checked as part of transporting.
Any ideas why and how to solve it??

Along with that process chains, U should also transport infopackages / DTPs existing in that process chains.
In test system, u can check table RSPAKPOS for the infopackages. If the infopackage is does not exist in that table, u should transport the same to test system.

Delta Infopackage selection changes

Hi
Can we run a delta IP in steps.
Scenario is I am using 0FI_GL_10 and there are multiple companies A,B,C,D.
I have done INIT one by one for all these company codes.
Now delta IP selection automatically gets updated when a sucessfull INIT takes places.
Currently my Delta IP has selection of company codes :: A ,B,C,D.
Problem is company C is having huge volume of data.
I want to know wheter I can split Delta IP into multiple so that I can run delta for all these companies separtely.
I want to run Delta for A first then for B then C like that.
Is it possible to split delta load company code wise or is there any other solution for this.

Hi,
There is a way around for your problem. BI allows for multiple init loads on same datasource given that the selection conditions for all of them are mutually exclusive. Therefore, you can do an INIT WITH DATA TRANSFER for company code A. This would load the records for company code A. Then do the initialisation for company code B. similarly for C & D. Note that init should be with data transfer. This would bring all the records.
The delta load condition is summation of all the init conditions. Therefore, once all the inits are completed, automatically, the selection condition for delta load will be Company Code: A, B, C, D. So, your delta load would fetch data for all these company codes.

Transporting a PC with new Infopackages

Hello Every One,
I am in the process of creating a lengthy process chain in D system. In the course of development, I am forced to create/modify the delta Infopackages and also variants. But in my Quality System, these infopckages and variants are not completely there. So when I move my PC from D to Q, What will happen?
Do I need to move the newly created/modifed infopackages first to Q system?
While creating my chain, I am saving all changes into a TR. If I move this particular request alone, will it solve my purpose?
I want my chain to be succesfully transported to Q and get activated.

Thanks for ur reply. I mean RSA1->Transports-> I need to collect my PC here. Can u just tell me what are the options I should use while collecting my PC ina TR?
As you told you have all your objects in Q. I am assuming you have made changes only to Process chain & you have edited/created few IP's which are then used in PC.
In RSA1 trans --> goto Transport Connection --> Select Process chain --> Drill down --> Click on Select objects --> find you PC from Here --> Transfer/continue --> In the right tab, select the Disaply as List & Grouping as "In Dataflow Before & Afterwards" --> you will find all the Data flow before & Data flow after objects --> But you need to concentrate only on Process chain, Process chain starter, Process Variants to collect Process chain. Just right clik on them & select Transport all below for these 3 folders.
Also Right click on the new IP's that you created/edited --> Transport all below.
To make sure that you are not transporting anything that is not required --> Just right click on the Folder(like InfoArea/DSO/DTP's etc) --> Do Not Transport Any below

Infopackage hierarchy selection from OLTP is not saved when transported

I have created an infopackage in Development that is pulling an available hierarchy. I then transported Infopackage to QA, but the Hierarchy, although is available from OLTP, is not selected in InfoPackage. I created a copy of InfoPackage in the QA system and selected available hierarchy. It allows me to select hierarchy, save and execute. The issue I have is I need to transport the InfoPackage, created in DEV to all QA and Production systems. The InfoPackage is not retaining available hierarchy when being transported.

Usually infopackage will not be transported but created in QA and production systems. If the infopackage is transported to QA, the pushbutton in infopackage Hierarchies in OLTP will bring the hiearachies available in the QA R/3 system. Appropiate hierachy can be selected and the same infopackage can be saved.

BI 7.0 delta problem in infopackage - DTP

I have my DTP set as delta going to a DSO.
FLOW -
Generic data source (numeric pointer) to DSO to cube.
How do I setup infopackages between data source (PSA) and source system.....
In infopackage, I am getting only 2 options -- Init or full load. How do create delta infopackages...

Hi Lisa,
U need to maintain a separate Infopackge for the Delta. Once u take the init then u can able to see the Delta option in Infopackage..
In BI7.0 for loading the data from PSA to the target u need to use the DTP in place of the Infopackage as in the case of 3.x..
Infopackage's are used to load the data till PSA.. and from PSA the DTP will come into picture..

InfoPackage deleted during transport

When I transport my infopackage, I get the error
Source system ECD221 does not exist; InfoPackage
ZPAK_24O9F5H386HTGLLDC1G44PR4L deleted
ECD221 is the source system which has been logically mapped to the QA system ECQ421. ECQ421 is active and replicated. I dont know why i get this message.

Please Change the setting in your target system and reimport the request
Check the setting 'RSA1->Tools->SourceSystem after Transport' where you have to maintain the name of the original source system and the name of the new source system, e.g. original system R/3-DEV, after transport R/3-QA.

Transport InfoPackages error

hi,
if you are going to transport datasource assignment, transfer rules, you can't use infopackage as starting point, you can use infosource as starting point, before transport infosource, transfer rules and datasource assignment, make sure you have 'replicate datasource' for that datasource in your target system (qas/production).
try use infosource as starting point, collection mode 'manual', grouping 'in dataflow before', and make sure your source system(r/3) is marked, click 'assign source system' (button yellow box with 'x').
'execute', after objects collection finished, expand the infosource and make sure transfer rules, datasource, infopackage are marked.

BW Infopackage transport for BODS Interafces

Hi Experts - I am writing the data in SAP BW from Oracle source , Through BODS 4.0.
While Executing the BODS job , It creates the DI-generated Info-package automatically in BW system.
Now we need to transport the BW objects in BW Quality system , What should I do with the DI-generated Info package ?
Either not to transport them and crate new one in quality system , Or transport them and change the BODS parameter manually in BW quality system to work with BODS quality system.
Another challenge will be , How to include them in process chain ?

Hi Rohan,
You can tell Data Services which data package it should use in BW. DS is happy to use any existing datapackage, but if no datapackage exists (or not with the technical name specified) DS will generate a new one.
Have a look at the datasource properties in the datastore for your SAP BW target.
You will find the InfoPackage (technical) name by right clicking the transfer structure in the datastore > properties > Tab Attributes. You can simply enter a value in the InfoPackage_Name field. Make sure to use the technical name.
So, you can transport the infopackage, and use it in a process chain, no problem.
Just, when you transport it, double check if the technical name in the QA/PROD system is the same..
If not you'll have to change it in the datasource/transfer structure properties in your BW datastore.
