Transporting KM Content from 7.0 to 7.3

Is it possible to transport KM content from 7.0 to 7.3? I can export the content from 7.0 just fine, and then upload the transport in 7.3 just fine. But when I select the transport in "Pending Imports" and choose "Start Import", the import fails every time. The only info I can find in the import log is "Error Import "EPD_CONTENT" (d00ec46a-66bc-2e10-e1ab-8330d94df02e) failed with 1 errors after 0 minute(s) 0 second(s)".
Any idea why, or if there is some trick to this transport?
Thanks,
Owen

What is your server setup for the portal?
I have a new portal install of 7.3 on a different server than my 7.0 portal. Usually, when I transport KM content from EPD 7.0 to EPP 7.0, it automatically saves the transport on the K drive. I then download the transport onto my S drive manually. When I import the transport into EPP 7.0, I upload the transport from the client machine (my S drive) and everything works fine.
When I do the same thing for creating the transport package, and then upload the transport into EPD 7.3, it works fine also. Then when I try to actually import the transport, it gives me an error. The logs say the following:
Sep 29, 2011 11:30:49 AM Info Starting import "ZEX_SPS_REPOSITORY" (f055d3b8-cdcc-2e10-0ba4-d618f8fd400a) using mode "MergeFolder" (ConstantID=false)
Sep 29, 2011 11:30:49 AM Info Importing from "K:\usr\sap\EPD\SYS\global\config\cm\expimp\import_work\f055d3b8-cdcc-2e10-0ba4-d618f8fd400a"
Sep 29, 2011 11:30:49 AM Error Import "ZEX_SPS_REPOSITORY" (f055d3b8-cdcc-2e10-0ba4-d618f8fd400a) failed with 1 errors after 0 minute(s) 0 second(s)
Sep 29, 2011 11:30:49 AM Info Statistics: 199 items (16 folders, 183 files, 0 links), 14257152 bytes in total
The only thing that looks curious in that log (besides the fact that there is an error) is that it says it is importing from the K drive. That's not where I uploaded the transport from, I uploaded it from my S drive. Does it always say that?
Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Owen

Hi,
Assuming we are talking on Par applications (not content),
You should use "SystemAdministration" -> "Support" -> "PAR Migration Tool" to convert PAR files to 7.30 deployable EAR files.
Then you should deploy them on the system by using any
eligible method such as NWDS or SUM tool.
Best regards,

Hi Vijayalaxmi,
Following are the steps for transporting the content from DEV to QA
1. Check in the activity into DTR and activate it. Once it is activated successfully it will show green
2. Now go to transport view and release the activity by drilling down in waiting... node.
3. Once the activity is released it becomes available in the Consolidation tab of CMS.
4. Import the activity in consolidation tab
5. Assemble the components in the Assembly tab.
Once you assemble an .SCA file is created in \usr\<SID>\trans\CMS
6. Copy this file manually and deploy it using SDM in QA.
Hope it clears your doubts

• Problem in transporting WPC Content

Hi,
I am facing problem in transporting WPC Content from server1 to server2. After transport the webpages are not displaying the contents. Webpages are showing empty layouts. I have done the layout configurations. Webpages are cotaining iViews and Html contents from KM . The webpages are not allowing to edit. Its very urgent.Help me to get through this.
Regards,
Mallini.V

Hi MaliniV,
Before you transfer the WPC content from one server to another, you need to be very careful about the settings and configurations. Did deply the WPC on the other server ? Did u do any custom page layouts in development server ? if yes, you need to do the same in production server as well. if not , it won't work.
I too had the same problem before. but ! after checking all these , I corrected them.
I hope this will help u.
Thanks

• How to transport content from a NWDI to a nes NWDI

Hi

I need to export the development component from the old one to the new one.
Hov to export content from NWDI?

Hi,
I would try this way....
--> Create new track, setup new buildspace, workspace on the CBS/DTR of the new NWDI server.
And then for content copy..
--> Download the asembled SCAs from the old NWDI server and check it in in my new track OR
--> sync the content from old NWDI server to the local filesystem and then upload/add it to the new track with the help of NWDS as described here:

• Error while transporting migrated contents

Dear SDN,
I had a requirement to transport the contents of Migrated Folder in Portal. I guess these contents have been migrated from EP5 to EP6. The contents in this folder are some standard SAP objects, i.e., iviews, pages, etc. The contents are working fine in our quality portal.
I had a standard SAP Page which had some standard SAP iviews attached to the page. The page as well as iviews were working fine in Quality. I transported the standard SAP Page and all the iviews folder to production, since iviews folders were not appearing in production. Now when I preview the page, page gets opened up properly but the iviews shows error on the page. The error displayed by the iviews is :
*Portal runtime error.
An exception occurred while processing your request. Send the exception ID to your portal administrator.
Exception ID: 05:54_06/03/09_118801351
Refer to the log file for details about this exception.*
Regards,
Shreya

Hi shreya,
Any PCD content with ID starts with com.sap...... cannot be transportted from one system to other system.
You can do a work around.
You can change the ID from com sap to com.abc(any). Then you can transport them.
But don't change the id of standard ones. Only duplicated once (copy of standard ones) can be transported.
Hope that helps.

• Transport table contents

Hello experts
I am trying to transport the contents of a table from one system to another, using a request.
When I select all the table data in SE16 then and go to menu Table entry- Transport Entries. By default a prompt for customizing request pops up and even if a create a customizing request and try to proceed I get an error message u201CTask BWDK901759 belongs to a different categoryu201D
Any ideas plz
Thanks in advance

Hi,
sounds like there is something wrong with your transport system. Check with a basis guy. There have to be a different setting in the transport system or you can manually enter a different category to the request so that it will be valid for your purpose.

• Migration of portal content from EP 6.0 SP 15 to NW 2004s Portal

Hi,
Our requirement here is to migrate Portal content from EP version 6.0 SP15 to the latest Netweaver portla (NW2004s). Expecting helpful suggestions from SAP EP gurus!!!
All helpful answers will be rewarded. Gurus, please help!!!
Cheers,
L Buegg.

Leena,
These are the steps in migrating the portal content from the EP 6 SP15 to the Netweaver Portal (EP 7.0 or the NW 2004s Portal) in simple:
1. Go to System Administration -> Transport -> Portal Content. Right click on the folder, you wish to transport. Select New -> Transport Package .
2. Fill all the details (like name of the transport package, id etc) and then add the objects(iViews, Pages etc) you wish to transport to the newly created transport package by right clicking on the objects.
3. Once the objects are all added, click on Export in the object editor of the Transport package and the export happens immediately.
4. Navigate to Drive\usr\SAP\SID_Instance\Sys\global\pcd\Export of the EP 6 SP 15 Portal Server. You will see the epa file created during this export process.
5. Copy this epa file and place it in Drive\usr\SAP\SID_Instance\Sys\global\pcd\Import folder structure of the NW 2004s Portal Server. Go to System Administration -> Transport -> Import and do the import as you would import any business package.
This are the steps to export and import the portal content from one portal server to another portal server.
Hope this helps!!!
