Transporting mini on plane

Hello,
I apologize if this is a stupid question.
I will be moving at the end of the summer and i need to take some electronics with me. These are my mac mini, external hard drives, printer/copier, and creature speakers. Would people reccommend that i put the mac mini and the external hard drives in my rolling carry on? Will the x ray machine damage them? Do you think if i just put the computer in between some clothes it would be safe enough? Actually, would the mac mini be treated like a laptop and be required to be placed in a seperate tray?
I can't take the printer or speakers with my carry-on stuff so that'll probably have to go UPS or something. Thanks for any info on this!

Back up your important personal and business data to CD's to hand carry on the plane. The screening equipment is not supposed to harm magnetic or optical media but requesting hand screening would be the safest option. It's only anecdotal evidence but I've heard too many stories from friends about storage media having problems after being subjected to screening equipment to feel totally comfortable with it.
Entrusting priceless data, or anything else that is not easily replaceable, to checked luggage is, at best, an extremely high risk strategy. Also, some airlines will not cover damage to computer equipment in checked luggage. Call ahead to find out where you find a written copy of the airline's policy.
Making an extra set of CD's to ship separately from your hard drive using a different shipper or even using the same shipper but shipping on a different day would be also be good idea.
It's been my experience that using UPS or FedEx air versus ground is a better option if you don't want your package to go astray or be used as football. My guess is that a shipper will only honor insurance for the worth of the hard drive and will not cover data loss or recovery. If someone at the shipper claims differently ask to see the insurance information in writing.
I have found from shipping a lot of breakables over many years that crumpled newspaper actually works quite a bit better than bubble wrap to cushion fragile items. Double and even triple boxing makes a big difference as well. Put a piece of paper with your name, address and phone number inside your shipping box in case the label on the outside of the box gets damaged or torn off.

Transport of BPS planning area (variables) without transp. all pl. levels

Hi!
Can anybody advice me, how to transport new variables which I have created to a planning area, without transporting all planning levels which belong to it?
I transported a few planning levels that include the new variables I created to the planning area. As a result, the planning levels are transported but the new variables are missing. I don´t want to transport the whole planning area, since it contains a development which is not ready yet. Can I transport the missing variables with SE15 (how?) or is there some other way to do it?

Please execute program UPC_TRANSPORT_BPS_ALL and transport your variables without transporting any level or area.

Min Mx planning report gives an error when run with RE-Stock yes.

We are going to implement Min Max planning for the first time.However when we test it at org level with Re-Stock parameter YES it gave an error.
what are the additional setups need to be done for it?
It works fine when running with re stock no.and gives the out put of the report accurately.

Min-Max Planning Generating Purchase Requisitions

We have been using min-max planning for a while and scheduling the min-max planning report (planning level: organization) to run every evening to generate a purchase requisition. Of late we have some items that are showing a reorder quantity but not generating a purchase requisition. We have verified the set up of those items against items that are generating a requisition and can't see a difference. What are the possible causes of items not generating a requisition when using min-max planning?

Make sure Item Settup has the "List price" Given.
Source is set to " Supplier"
When you are running the Min-Max Report, it should have the Parameter "ReStock" to "Yes".
Since the records has to come from the Inventory to the Purchasing Module there is possibility that Records might be there in Interface tables. Run the "requisition Import" program and see if it address your issue.

Min Max planning report - ability to run for specific vendor

Hi,
We have a unique requirement wherein business users would like to run min-max planning report for a specific vendor. Vendor here is item sourcing vendor. We are on R12 12.0.4. This version of applications doesnot support sourcing vendor as the min-max report parameter.
Other than setting up item category for ASL vendor, i can't think of any other easy way to accomplish above requirement. Please suggest workaround for above requirement.

If you have to do this, here is a complex workaround.
Create a request set that contains a custom program as first stage and the regular min-max as the second stage.
The custom program accepts vendor name as a parameter and disables min-max planning flag for all items EXCEPT those that are sourced from that vendor.
Then the 2nd stage runs and creates requisition.
You may add a 3rd stage that resets the min-max planning flag.
Make this program incompatible with itself so 2 users won't run it at the same time.

Is it possible in any way for the system to source it internally for another Inventory/Subinventory if the product is available there or source it from a suplplier if it not available internally when a scheduled Min Max Planning runs.

Not directly.
But you can setup two min-max runs.
One that runs between your SHOPFLOOR subinventory and WAREHOUSE subinventory (i.e. internal source)
And then another one that runs on WAREHOUSE subinventory with source = supplier.

Min-max planning is used to maintain inventory levels for all of your items or selected items. With min-max planning, you specify minimum and maximum inventory levels for your items. When the inventory level for an item (on-hand quantities plus quantities on order) drops below the minimum, Oracle Inventory suggests a new purchase requisition, internal requisition, move order, or job to bring the balance back up to the maximum.
See the Inventory Users Guide > Planning and Replenishment > Min-Max Planning for more detailed description of the principles behind. In addition to Min-Max you may want to consider Reorder Point Planning where you bring demand figures into the calculations.
If you would like to have sales orders or production demands on end-item or sub-assembly levels influence the planning of components then a type of MRP is needed to break down a product structure to lower level material requirements. For even more advanced planning where capacities, constraints and may be even different optimizations objectives are to be considered you have to look at the Advanced Plannning Suite of applications.

WO for FG should be a demand for WOs for SA. Can Min Max look at the WOs of FGs and if SA is a component, create a WO for SA?
I observed Min Max doesn't support this. Let me know your pointers.

Min Max Planning not reading Flow Schedules as Demand

We use min max planning to order all recurring purchases and flow schedules for production planning.
Min max planning report does NOT see flow schedules as a source of demand. Is this correct or are we missing a setup somewhere?
If min max planning cannot read flow schedules, is there a standard report to identify component shortages where items are between min max level but not enough on hand to fulfill the open flow schedule?

Min max planning report errors out

Min max planning is defined at Organization level with the source type as
supplier.
Min max report errors out for restock option "yes".
Following is the error message in the log file
MSG-00069: Calling INV_MMX_WRAPPER_PVT.exec_min_max from Before Report Trigger
MSG-00070: INV_MMX_WRAPPER_PVT.exec_min_max returned an error:
REP-1825: Before Report trigger returned FALSE.
Have checked all the possible causes
1)work day calender
2)Default delivery location
3)profile option.
Also applied a patch for this error

Transport of Test Plan / Test Packages

Dear all,
We intend to transport a test plan with all test packages from the development Solution Manager to the productive Solution Manager because in the productive Solution Manager no configuration is allowed.
We are using the Solution Manager functionality to execute manual testing in the following way:
On SOLAR02 the project 'FOUNDATION' is stored. The project 'FOUNDATION' has been migrated from a outstanding sandbox Solution Manager system to all three Solution Manager Systems: DEV, TEST and PROD. Test scripts have been uploaded on the 'test cases' tab of the respective business process branch.
In the development Solution Manager SMD a test plan has been generated using the uploaded test scripts mentioned above.
On the quality assurance Solution Manager the same project 'FOUNDATION' is stored and the same test scripts are uploaded on the same branches.
When the test plan is transported (using the recommended STWB_2 transport functionality) from the development SM to the quality assurance SM there are two issues.
1. The transported test plan cannot be edited / regenerated anymore. An error message "The specified structure does not exist" is displayed. Message number is SOLAR056.
2. The transported packages can be assigned to users but no notes can be added to the test cases. The error message is: "Unable to find template". Message number is SOFFICEINTEGRATION231.
It seems that the transported test plan cannot retrieve the underlying project structure, even it is identical to the project structure of the development SM.
This problem is urgent to us, as the test phase is starting next week.

We have experienced similar problems. A transport of the test plan and copies of the test plans have resulted in us loosing status values and test notes.
I was informed it had to do with the fact the information is stored in the GUI. How I don't know, I am not a technical person.
I was wondering if you may have encountered the similar problems I have had above and found ways around it.

The loading date, transportation date and planned date on the STO are the same as Delivery dates.

We have created a Intra plant STO (plant to plant in the same company code). The planned delivery date is 4 days. So if I create a STO today (27th march), the delivery date is 31st march (excl Saturday and Sunday).
During delivery creation, the loading date, transportation date and planned date are also coming as 31st march. The route determination for the given shipping point and route shows 2 days for transit and 4 hours for pick pack. There is no loading time maintained for the given combination.
Can you please advice why are the dates coming the same as delivery date during delivery creation without considering the duration maintained in route determination ?

Hi,
This is a standard behavior of SAP in case of Stock Transfer PO.
If you want that the delivery date of receiving plant be transferred to supplying plant, please use BADI MD_STOCK_TRANSFER.

Min-Max Planning simple questions

I'm trying to use Min-Max Planning. Inventory User's Guide says that Min-Max Plannig uses a demand to evaluate order quantity, but don't tell if such demand by month, year or whatever. Looking the figures seems to be annual demand (but doesn't match my annual sales). What kind of demand is used?
If demand is calculated on a yearly basis, resulting order qty should be to satisfy sales of a whole year (I guess).
Is there a way to change that? Does really matter?

depending upon at which level (organization or subinventory) you are running Min-Max planning and the options selected for net demand will determine what will be included under open demand. It is the total open demand on or before the demand cutoff date, based on net demand selection for reserved & unreserved orders and WIP. It is NOT by month, year or any period.
Min-Max at Organization level:
If you choose Yes for Net Unreserved Orders, Net Reserved Orders and Net WIP Demand then Open Demand is the sum of unreserved sales orders, inventory reservations (including reserved sales orders), account issue move orders, and WIP component demand scheduled for issue on or before the demand cutoff date.
Min-Max at Subinventory level:
If you choose Yes for Net Unreserved Orders and Net Reserved Orders (no WIP demand option here) then Open Demand is the sum of inventory reservations (including reserved sales orders), account issue move orders, and subinventory transfer move orders scheduled for issue from this subinventory on or before the demand cutoff
date. At subinventory level inventory reservations referencing a different subinventory, or with no subinventory specified, are not included.
e.g. if the demand cutoff date is 30-Jun-2009 and net options have been selected as Yes then then it will look for demand upto 30-Jun-2009 (Note: some apps reports have time part issue while comparing dates, so in those cases 30-Jun-2009 is taken as 30-Jun-2009 00:00:00 i.e 29-Jun-2009 midnight!).
Also if you specify a past date for demand cutoff date it will consider open demands available, if any, upto that past date (but you plan for the future, not past).

EXECUTABLE:POCIRM - Requisition Import
Buy items에 대해 Min-Max(with Restock=Y)을 실행하면, 이 program은 ReqImport를
자동으로 launch 시키지 못하고 단지 po_requisitions_interface_all table에 data를
insert 한다.
하지만 사용자는 Min-Max가 실행되면 이후 자동으로 ReqImport가 실행되길 원하고
있다. 이를 위한 workaround 방법을 소개한다.
Cause
ReqImport가 Min-Max 이후 자동으로 실행되는건지, Min-Max에 의해 자동으로 실행되는지
구분할 필요가 있다.
ReqImport는 Min-Max에 의해 실행되지 않는다.
Min-Max의 standard design은 단지 po_requisitions_interface_all table에 data를 넣어
주기만 할 뿐이지 ReqImport request를 자동으로 실행시키지는 않는다.
ReqImport는 Min-Max 진행 후 실행될 수 있다.
왜냐하면 ReqImport는 주기적으로 실행되게 scheudling 되어 있거나, ADS_PO_REQ_IMPORT_TRG1
와 같은 trigger에 의해 실행된다.
일부 vision demo instances에서 위 trigger를 볼 수 있는데 이 trigger에 의해 po_requisitions_interface_all
table에 data가 insert가 되면 ReqImport가 launch 된다.
Note: 이 Trigger는 standard product이 아니므로 귀사의 instance에서는 찾을 수 없을 것이다.
Solution
1. Short-to-medium term solution at your instance:
1-1) ReqImport가 주기적으로 실행될 수 있게 Schedule 해 놓는다.

1-2) Min-Max report(Restock=Yes) 실행 후 manual 하게 ReqImport를 실행한다.

1-3) Min-Max와 ReqImport programs을 포함하는 Report Set을 define 하고, Min-Max 대신
이 Report set 만을 실행한다.

생성한다.
2. Medium-to-long term solution from Oracle
ER/Doc bug을 등록하고 metalink를 통해 진행과정을 check 한다.
2-1) Enhancement Request via ER/Bug 4310485 to have Min-Max Report to fire ReqImport automatically.
2-2) Documentation Bug 4310487 to have the INV User Guide corrected that Min-Max does NOT create Requisitions,
but ONLY populates the po_requisitions_interface_all table.
