Transporting Number range Intervals

Dear SRMers
System Information: ECC 6.0,
We created Z Number range objects in ECC system A and transported them to ECC System B.
The custom objects were transported, but the number range intervals did not transport to the target system. My question is do we need to transport the number range intervals for the custom objects seperately?
Points will be rewarded for answers.
Thanks in advance,
Best Regards,
Bob

Hi,
Usually best practice is to not transport number range but to recreate it in the target system.
However, technically it is possible.
Kind regards,
Yann

  • How to transport number range group Configuration in Material Master

    Hi,
I have this query regarding how to transport number range group in material master from one server to another.
Problem: There was no number range assignment done for a particular material type. So, i assigned the particular mat. type to a group which had some number range intervals with the help of T-Code MMNR.
But when i want to transport this config. to other sever, it is only transporting the interval but not the assignment done to that group. In the menu bar only Interval transport option is there.
Can anybody help me with this I hope the query is clear.

  • Changing the Number range intervals

    Hi Gurus,
I have query on changing number range intervals in PA. Earlier number ranges has been set at the time of implementation and recently they added one more company and they ask me to set a number ranges for new employees with the new series.
While inserting new number ranges for personnel number it is saying that transport need to be done manually, and it is giving the following message.
*In the target system, all intervals*
*of selected number range object are*
*deleted first so that only the exported*
    *intervals exist after the import.*
*The number statuses are imported with*
*the value that they had when exported*
*Dependent tables are not transported or*
    *converted.*
If it delete first then export means will it affect the exisiting number in the productions system. Because already other employees are numbers are maintained in the same server it should get affected.
    Kindly clarify the same.

  • Mass deletion of document number ranges intervals for several company codes

    Dear experts,
We are running version ECC6 and are about to go-live a lot of company codes simultaneously. We would like to delete satndard number ranges intervals for these company codes.
Is there a way to delete the number ranges intervals (which have not been used) for several company codes at the same time ? I'm looking for a transaction or a program similar to OBH1 (used for the creation of number ranges ).
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Best Regards,
    Steven

    Hi
I am also not aware of such T.code to delete number ranges for a company code.
Alternatively, you can go to FBN1 in change intervals mode.
From the Menu Select all and Press Shift + F2 (Delete interval).
Ofcourse, this have to be done individually for each co. code.

  • Message while creating plant,Do you really want to transport number ranges?

    hI
while creating plant[Copy from existing] i got the message 'Do you really want to transport number ranges?'
can some one through some light on this message
    Thanks

REad carefully the info coming along with this message.
IF you transport number ranges, then you overwrite existing number ranges in your production system. you transport the e.g. the current number from your development system into production and overwrite there the current number.
As you usually produce less data in Development system than in a production system, the current number will be smaller after the transport, and SAP would then try to create data using the next number, which leads to a dump as thereis already a record in the database having this number.
so you should only transport number ranges if you do not effect existing number ranges in your production system.

    Hi,
Please refer to the SAP note : 132020
    Symptom
With the import of a transport request or the import of a patch with the SPAM, tp terminates during the ADO import with return code 12.
In the ADO import log file of the request, cancelled jobs are refered to. With transaction SM37, you can find a cancelled job, suitable for the import RDDDIC1L, in the job log with one of the following messages:
    ABAP runtime error: ASSIGN_OFFSET+LENGTH_TOOLARGE
ABAP runtime error: Exclusion criterion "RDDDR310_ERR02" initialized
    Additional key words
    Cause and prerequisites
The ADO data file was not generated locally on a transport domain computer, rather it was, for example, transported with ftp and unpacked from out of an archive with CAR.
    Solution
One cause could be that the data file for the ADO import was not transferred correctly. To check this, the following derivation steps are required:
Start the operating system command 'R3trans -l <Datenfile>' and check whether the data file for the ADO import is corrupt.
Assumed that a transport request is called C11K900123, the respective ADO data file D900123.C11 is also like this and stands in the subdirectory 'data', in the transport directory.
Compare the size of the data file in the transport directory with that of the original file. The size must be identical.
If a check shows that the data file is corrupt, transfer the data file again.
    Award points iff it helps.

  • Transport number ranges to production server of withholding tax

    Hi
I have created the number ranges in the development server and saved in one request, but the number ranges are not working in Production system. How can i again transport the same request in production system.
I tried to transport it again but it is showing in grey mode.
    Thanks

Number ranges are suggested to be maintained directly in the production client.
Even if you want to transport, Go to SE01 and check that your trans then port include the number range you want to transport.

  • Prefix Number range: Transport number range

    Hi All,
Here is the situation. there are 2 dev servers. the prefix number range in both are maintained as 901 . The workflows will be trasported to a single prod servers. Now as i understand this will create some trouble in prod coz two workflows in two system might have the same number.
Now I think maintaining different number range might help. but when transporting to prod how willl this number range will be taken into account. I mean how to make sure that 901 will be transported as 901 and same as 902 range? Do i need to maintain some config in prod system or just reserving both the number ranges 901 and 902 in prod will solve the issue? Just need some confirmation ..
    Thanks in Adv !
    Anuj Sethi

Exactly. The numeric ID that is assigned to your workflow template follows it through the transport system in the same way that the include for a function module follows it.
The difference between workflow templates and reports (in this matter) is that you are not allowed to define the program name of the workflow template. Instead it is composed from the prefix and the next available number in that prefix range.

  • SNRO: Number Range Intervals

Is it possible to use this functionality, I suppose with FM GET_NET_NUMBERS, with a number range that would have a character in its second position?
    Thanks.

    No.
The function module uses the table DFPM_NUMB's CURRENT_NUMBER field (Data type N) to add a number. So You cannot have a number generated with characters and numerals.
You will have to manually generate the number and concatenate a character to it.

  • Number range transport request

    Hi,
pls tell me are number range intervals  not transported using transport request, if yes then how are number ranges appear in prod. server.
    thanks
    Kavita

    Hi All,
thanks for the inputs, but wish to understand the scenario completely I am practicing on IDES and i have been told tht we do not transport number range requests....my question is once we maintain number ranges on dev. server and then carry out customistion i.e. creating OM objetcs like position, job etc......which will be alloted numbers.....now when we move to prd server....then will these objetcs have the same numbers.....or first we maintain number range in prd server then import the customised OM objects
sorry to bother ....but need to understand
    thanks Kavita

  • Transport of Number range and release proceure and split valuation

    Dear Gurus,
Can we transport number ranges from PRD server to Quality Server?
Also, how will we trasport split valuation and release procedure?
    Kindly suggest..

    Hi
Number ranges you have to create directly as it is not transportable.
For release Strategy details, all your Release config details are transported Except for the below details
    1. Characteristics &  values assigned to it ( master data)
    2. Class & assigned characteristics to it (master data)
    3. Values/ranges inside the Release strategies ( classification details).
These three details are to be recreated/assigned in the client you intend to work upon.
    Regards

  • Number ranges got transported

    Hi Guys,
We have done some configuration in development where we have crated some new purchase documents, contracts etc. Also we have created some number ranges. The same was transported to quality. Now for testing purpose we have created some contracts, PO's. So the number ranges got used in quality and after testing. Now I have transported the same request to production. To my surprise in production the ranges along with the current number was appearing in SNRO.
    Also observed this.
IN PRODUCTION THE NUMBER EXISTING ARE (BEFORE TRANSPORTING)
    61 -     4100000000     4199999999     4100000931
AFTER TRANSPORTING THE NUMBER RANGES ARE
    61     4100000000     4199999999     4100000252
Now the PO are getting saved from 4100000253 but when I got to ME23N Im getting the old PO that got saved and not the currently created.
    How should I resolve this
    Regards
    Ayyallas

number ranges are not automatically included into a transport request.
you get only a transprot request if you choose from menu Interval > Transport by intention.
Then you get a biiger pop-up with a warning text, and here you have to confirm whether you really want transport number ranges.
Only then the  transport request is created and can screw up your number ranges in production .
