Transporting Projects in SolMan

Hi,
I have a simple question regarding the transporting of project templates between SolMan systems.
I understand that it is a best practice to have the source and target system at the same patch level when performing this task.
Does anyone know if it is this process is backwards compatibile? In other words, is there a risk if I am transporting to a target system that is at a high patch level? (NW70 EHP1 SP20 --> NW7- EHP1 SP22).
Is there an OSS note that addresses this issue for NW70? I haven't found a note newer than 603336.

Hi William,
Please refer Note Note 1090842 - Composite note: Transport across several releases . Ideally target system should be equal patch level . If it is lower , then it would be complex and probably you cannot . If it is higher, we can have a try I guess . But you may need manual modification , some times.

Hi All,
I am looking for any potential article on creating a u2018projectu2019 in Solman, we are looking into creating an project in solman with the PCSD and Grantor content but we donu2019t know where we can find this info.

Try with following settings if you have not done:
1) In define project type, for for accounting integration , select scenario as: Accounting integration in my SAPERP and type of transfer as : Always Automatic when saving
2) For Define object link for object type , define proxy class for WBS element and Project definition(PS)
Also define RFC for Single object Controlling on WBS element in Object types for object links.
3) For Accounting integration in Make general settings, for your project type select frame09 for your object type single object controlling on Internal order
4) Define CO scenario CPR2 with Strategy sequence as SAP040 in period end closing, costing sheet as standard and Costing variant as PC02(Internal Order)
5) In CO scanrio maintenance view, for your project type select contolling method as Internal Order( Project Definition, Automatic)
With these settings I am able to create a PS project from cProject when I save a cProject.

Transporting Project

Hello Friends
we have created the entire project in solution manager and now we want to shift the whole project to production server how is that possible
Note
Presently we have configured Development Server of Solution Manager with
Development & Quality Servers (only one server diff clients)
R3 & CRM
now we want to transfer all the settings that we have done on quality server of R3 & CRM to production server
but through solution manager only
it is possible through client copy or transport request or migrate the whole server or any other way

As i had mentioned earlier, i had posted this similar message with OSS, and following is the reply i received, and i will be testing soon.
there is a transport functionality for all types of project available.
Please start transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN, select the implementation
project and push the button transport Project.
Please ensure that your Solution Manager runs on the latest Support
Packages otherwise it could be that some documents will be not
transported.
I hope that this information will help to solve the issue.

Assign CS-Project to SolMan Project

Hello together,
i'm looking for a way to assign a SAP CS - project to an Solution Manager project in order to provide detailed task and ressource planning and cost collection. I was not able to find any settinga in SOLUTION_PROJECT_ADMIN, RMMAIN, SOLAR01 or SOLAR02.
Is there an extension to the current SolMan project reporting tool to include actual costs and service charges from the corresponding CS-Project.
I'm using Solution manager 7.01 EHP1 and ERP 6.0 EHP3

HI,
Hope There is no direct link to assign SAP CS Project to Solman Project.
Both are different activities.
Through the RFC SAP can be linked to Solution Manager. In Solution Manager, Creation of Project ( SOLUTION_PROJECT_ADMIN) is the first step. for which the project can be furhter useful for Project Documentation ( Business Process Repository), Creation and Assign of Road Maps ( Upgrade Projects) etc.,
But once your Logical System is assigned to Solution Manager.Based on your Roles and Authorizations you can directly go to the Satelite System ( SAP R/3).

Transport Projects

I have SolMan 3.20 and want to transport my project into new Solution Manager.I create a transport request, using Progect-->Transport and moove it into new SolMan. The structure of the project appeared but there are no project documentation in new SolMan. How can I transport doc`s?!

Transporting projects from Dev. system to Prod. system

We have created a number of projects in our development system and now want to move a few of the project to our production system.
Is there a way to transport these projects to the production system

I have used "the truck" and everything seemed to work ok. Transport was created and we migrated the transport to the production Solution Manager system.
When I tried to open the project in Project Admin/Solar01 I got the following message.
"The specified structure does not exist"
Any thoughts........
As well, is there a way to include all of the project documentation within the transport.

Transporting Projects in v12

We are getting ready to begin the upgrade process to v12 from 11.5. We have a number of plant metrics up and running in 11.5 that we'd like to continue to transport individually through our server landscape. All the metrics are in the same server folder with the plant name and metric number specified in the template/transaction/irpt file name.
Should we move each metric into its own folder prior to migration to help identify them as individual projects for transport purposes?

Thanks, Udayan. I probably shouldn't have used the word 'metric'. I was just using the term to refer to graphs of plant performance with data coming out of SAP and the plant's PI data historian.
The templates for all the graphs are in the same v11.5 folder, like so:
Lighthammer
Illuminator
    Templates
      Metrics
          ING001Query.xml
          ING001SPCChart.xml
          ING002Query.xml
          ING002SPCChart.xml
          (and so on)
and we will want to be able to transport graph ING001 separate from graph ING002. I'm assuming, once migrated to v12, they have to be in separate "projects" in order to be transported separately and I wasn't sure if, for migration purposes, items I wanted in separate projects could be in the v11.5 folder.

I had a question regarding transport requests. When I get a transport request prompt , there is a place to enter Project .
Has this anything to do with Project Systems . And is it true that I can select a project only when my company implements Project systems or it has nothing to do with PS.

Solution manager is a known Application management solution for Implementation or Upgrades of SAP
infact there is a new feature called EhP scope and effort analyzer which will help to do the entire scoping assessment with impact assessment for the same without even applying on ERP system
yes you read it correctly without even downloading the EhP to your ERP system you can do that now with solman

Error while creating IMG Project in Solman

Hi Folks,
As i'm in the process of implementing Charm process in solution manager. After importing the logical components into my project ( implemention / Maintenance ) .when i'm creating the IMG project for Dev system in project administration i'm getting following error ...
S:NUMBER_GET_NEXT AEND:000 G INTERVAL_MISSING
Message no. NUMBER_GET_NEXT AEND000
But where as i'm able to create it for others like Quality and production systems.
Please let me know if any one can thorough some lights on it.

Please confirm your problem by as issue with the trusted system, check the link below

No authorization to log on as a trusted system (trusted RC = <0 1 2 3>).
Here, the trusted return codes ( = 0, 1, 2 or 3 ) have the following meanings:
1   Calling system is not a trusted system, or security
     ID for the system is invalid.
     Solution: Create (again) the trusted system (see above).
as of in trusted system, you supposed to get the same user in both the systemm witht the respected access like S_RFCACL.

Solman project transport from one server to another

Hi All,
i have a small query , regarding project management . I have a Template project with some manually designed tamplate inside that. and test case created.
Now i want to move this project with all config. , selected template and test case from one server my another solman server.
I am hoping transport icon given below in solar_project_admin will work for me . please confirm me and let me know if other options too available . can i use solar_migration for this activity ??
please suggest all possible way for export (transport) this project from one server to another.

Unfortunately, transaction SOLAR_MIGRATION is not released to be used in the Solution Manager 4.0/7.0 and therefore is not supported.

Besides the "Transport Project" functionality in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN for projects and the transport of testpalns from transaction STWB_2 there is no other function available/supported at the moment.
you have to make sure that you have in the source system the corrections from the notes:
for Projects:
1147186 Unreleased documents are not transported
1119462 Problems transporting projects
1134578 Document types missing when transporting projects
For Testplans/testpackages:
1224283 Test plan incomplete after transport
1246383 Transport connection for test documents in test plan

Mandatory assignment of Project with Transport Request

Hi All,
I have to create project PRJ1 in Solman and configure it with DEV system client 400. So all the requests created in DEV 400 must be assigned to PRJ1 also the condition is users must be able to create request only in 400.
There is also one client 410 in DEV where the consultant should do only testing (not customization) with sample data and all request shloud move from 400 to 410 by SCC1. And all the requests in 400 must get create only if assigned to project PRJ1.
In this task, I created project in Solman and also maintained the DEV 400 in system landscape and IMG of DEV project in third tab of system landscape.
But still my users are able to create request in 400 without project assignment. I also locked client 410 in SCC4, but some smart persons are opening client 410 and sometime creating request in it.
Please suggest me how to make it mandatory in DEV 400 to make mandatory of project assignment while creating request, and how to block 410 to produce request apart from SCC4 control.

to make the project assignment mandatory, make the following customizing in DEV - 400:
1. transaction SE03 --> Display/Change Request Attributes
2.Modify SAP_CTS_PROJECT attribute uing client specific checkbox (very important otherwise you will be blocked... to prevent transport request creation in other clients use SCC4 settings)

Moving Project from one solman to another

Hi Friends
Can anyone help me in moving the project prepared in one solution manager to different solution manager.
We have got solution manager and is productive and another is training and we are going to upgrade our productive solution manager 4.0 to 7.0 but before that we need to move the project into training solman.
can any one suggest me what could be the procedure.

There is an option of project transport.........in solman.....so u can create a transport request for the project you had created..........and then import this transport request into the solman system u want to.....
If both your solmans are not linked thru the TMS,then u got to manually copy the Data and CO-files...just consult basis guys for this........
U find the option of transport project in tcode SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN... There is an icon just below on the left......u should use that to transport the project....basically u will be prompted for the transport request...this transport has to be imported into the solman system u want.....
