Transports from PRD to QAS & DEV in SEM?

Hi,
I am in a strange situation. we are on BW 3.0B and SEM 3.1B. For some reasons, My predecessor who worked b4 me implemented SEM planning without DEV system and without transports.
I've been told that they are not developing any thing in DEV system rather they are developing and testing in QAS. once it is done, they make the same changes manually in PRD without transports.
they are doing this only for SEM planning. for BW, they are using DEV-QAS-PRD landscape and even transports.
I'm not even sure what to ask. but, I need to start from here. any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Now, I need to start using DEV system for SEM planning as well just like for BW. but, PRD is already running.
can we transport PRD objects back to DEV and QAS?
once transported, can i start development in DEV and transport developed objects to QAS and then to PRD?
if we can, what are the precautions we need to take b4 transporting from PRD to QAS & DEV?
Is there a way, to find out the differences between "PRD and QAS" and "PRD and DEV" to make changes manually for small changes?
if nothing is being done, atleast what i can start with to use "landscape DEV->QAS->PRD and transports" by keeping PRD objects alive and running.
DEV is no where close in synchronous with QAS and PRD. there are quite a bit of differences between QAS and PRD but almost synchronous.
I'm in a big need of help.
any kinda ideas are welcome

    I have to perform homogenous system copy from PRD to QAS.
    My PRD is ECC6.0 EHP4 release 701 sp 103( SAP_basis) with oracle ver 10.2.0.4.0.
    Is there any specific procedure for EHP4 or i can follow the below mentioned guide.

    What pre-requisite i need to take care before doing the system copy?
    Regards
    Abhishek

    Hi,
    All pre-requisite is there in system copy guide.Apart from that take user master backup of quality system and after system copy, import the user master data back so that you have same users in quality system.
    Also, take RFC's backup also.

    Thanks for your reply,  but I can not find the data & cofiles in PRD system directory if there isn't the transport rout.
    The cost center master data was delete, and I don't know which table contain these data.

  • Dumping the data from PRD to QAS

    Hi Experts,
    Please give suggestions on How to copy all the data from Production to QAS. Which is the best way to copy like client copy,client export ,client import or restore the database by using restore command.We are using ECC 6.0 EHP 7 ,SyBase DB with WINDOWS 2012.
    Regards,
    Patan Thavaheer.

    Dear
    as u said u want dump PRD DATA into QUA there are many ways you can to that
    you can use homogenous SYSTEM COPY to restore data from prd to qua
    or you can export prd data it will create 3 request like KT KX KO import them into QUA whole data will be copies
    you can use remote client copy through scc9 but for that your network speed should be very fast and it will take lots of time for doing the activity and no user can able to logon to PRD sys while running scc9

    hi experts
        how to revert back a transport request from prd server to
        dev server?
        a transport request has been wrongly transported
        and it has make major changes in production server,
       now  we want to revert back that request , we know the   request no.
    regards
    pankaj

    All you have to do is create an order of transport type "Transport of copies" in PRO.
    I give you the steps to follow:
    1. Go to SE01 and create a new order (remember the type "Transport of copies").
    2. Enter the data of the order of transport that is going to come back.
    3. Enter the target, here is where you asign the target system to carry the request.
    4. Now just add the number of request to the new request you just created.
    5. Finally released the request from this transaction.
    6. Check on the queue of transport in DES, the request must appear there.
    I hope you serve =)

  • QAS Refresh from PRD

    Dear Bhudev/Guest,
    I am Planning to refresh my Quality system from Production's Offline Database Backup. I have seen you a lot posts.
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    Refresh from Offline backup (AQC from APC)
    Let's say AQC is quality and APC is production.
    Pre-processing Activity:
    Verifications:
    1. Verify the last offline backup in the source system /oracle//sapbackup/back.log
    2. Verify that both the source and target systems are at the same Oracle level (which is already the case between APC and AQC)
    3. It is recommended that an off-line backup be taken of the target system before starting this process, in case of fall back.
    4. Confirm there is enough space in the target (AQC) file systems to contain the data from the source system this is required as we may have to copy the files from Production to quality. /oracle/SID/sapdata* folders should be having little more space as compared to the source filesystem.
    5. Check access to SAP* for APC (000 and 400) and also for AQC (000 and 400)
    6. Check other passwords such as adm and ora
    7. Server : User : ora > sqlplus u201C/ as sysdbau201D > alter database backup controlfile to trace > exit In /oracle/SID/saptrace/usertrace, the last trace (check the time) is the script for recreating the control file. You will need to edit it. Please rename the trace file to ld.sql and send the file to the target system /oracle/SID Edit the Script: vi ld.sql Delete or comment out all lines at the beginning of the file before STARTUP NOMOUNT which is kept. Change old controlfile creation statement at the beginnig of the controlfile: Old line: create controlfile reuse database NOresetlogs archivelog; change to New line: create controlfile set database resetlogs archivelog; replace all occurences of string by in each line where appears :g / / s / / /g example: :g/P10/s/P10/T21/g Delete the following lines a the end of the script: ; RECOVER DATABASE; ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG ALL; ALTER DATABASE OPEN;
    8. Get from the Prod system (APC) the .aff and backDPR.log and copy them on AQC. (/oracle//sapbackup) Copy the files to /instkits/SID/. And after we can go on target source server and copy them from /instkits/SID to the /oracle/SID/sapbackup/. With the good owner and permission
    9. Lock all the users in client 400 except Basis and post system message. Target system data collection (On AQC -400):
    1. SM59 Expand all the trees, print by choosing: ->System ->List ->Print i) Compare list to R/3 connections on source system. Record details for any that will need to be recreated on target system.
    2. SCC4 Record all client settings. -> Tableview ->Print ->Standard List -> List -> Print Make sure you understand the columnsu2026
    3. SE06 Record system change options
    4. RZ10 Record the instance profile settings for: rdisp/wp-no-btc and rdisp/max_wprun_time
    5. STMS Record current transport routes. ->Overview -> Transport Routes -> manually expand all trees -> system ->list ->print
    6. Request customer to provide u201Ccatch-upu201D list of transports to be applied to system after refresh (QA and Sandbox systems).
    7. RZ04 Record current work process set-up. Highlight each operation mode and click instances/op modes button. i) Print with ->System ->List ->Print
    8. SAP License Ensure the SAP license information is available. If not on-hand, logon target system as adm and enter command: saplicense u2013show. This information is also available on OSS.
    9. TSM Nodename View /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin64/dsm.sys on source and target system. Record the nodename entries. These will be SAP or server names.
    11. Take printer Export through SPAD and save it locally to desktop->SPAD
    12. Take Export of User Master from the client 400 through SCC8 target system is AQC , so that it may be re-imported through STMS. Note the Transport number here also verify the transport exist in the queue. DB Restore from offline backup from APC:
    1. Stop SAP on AQC -> Login as aqcadm -> stopsap
    2. Change the TSM node on AQC-> cd /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin64 ls -lrt vi /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin64/dsm.sys Change it to point to APC, comment the AQC Node. Post Restore Acitivity:
    1. Stop Database Delete Old controlfile rm /oracle/AQC/sapdata1/system_1/cntrl/* rm /oracle/AQC/saparch/cntrl/* rm /oracle/AQC/origlogA/cntrl/*
    2. Re-create the controlfile and then after that start the database User : ora > cd > sqlplus u201C/ as sysdbau201D > @ld.sql > alter database open resetlogs;
    3. Change the sapr3 password Server : User : ora Temporarily, we have to change the sapr3 password to the default password. With SAPBA, change this user password to pass.
    4. Test the connection: Server : User : adm > R3trans u2013d It should have a return code of 0000
    5. Reasign tempfile alter tablespace psaptemp add tempfile '/oracle/AQC/sapdata1/temp_1/temp.data1' size 6020M reuse autoextend on next 20971520 maxsize 10000M; alter database rename global_name to AQC.WORLD; drop user OPS$APCADM cascade; drop user OPS$ORAAPC; create user OPS$ORAAQC identified externally default tablespace psapdnausr temporary tablespace psaptemp; grant connect, unlimited tablespace, SAPDBA to OPS$ORAAQC; grant connect, unlimited tablespace, SAPDBA to OPS$AQCADM;
    7. Change the instance profile to stop all the background processing To be sure that no production batch are executing, set rdisp/wp_no_btc to 0 posprocessing:
    8. Startsap
    9. Run Transaction SICK (as sap*)
    10. Installing license through the tcode: slicense While logged in as 000/sap/using password of APC system Get the License from service.sap.com and download it to local machine Log in 000 client using SAP and run the Tcode slicense import printers, run BDLS for logical system name conversions se06 posprocessing stms usermaster import import profiles for QAS
    thanks

    Hi Pranav
    why the SIDs of production and QAS are same, did you do refresh of QAS from PRD ?
    If yes, then you should have done control file creation and change of SIDs, after the datbase restore...
    however, if you want to create the new control file and change the SID then try to consider the following steps:
    1. Login as orasid
    2. connect to sqlplus
    3. run query: alter database PRD backup controlfile to trace;
    4. It will create a control file as a latest trace file (.trc) in the directory /oracle/PRD/saptrace/usertrace
    note: logout of sqlplus
    5. Rename that .trc file into ldQAS.sql
    6. copy this file into /oracle/SID ie. /oracle/QAS directory
    7. edit the .sql file as below
    8. CREATE CONTROLFILE SET DATABASE u201CQASu201D RESETLOGS ARCHIVELOGS;
    add above statement replacing the below:
    CREATE CONTROLFILE REUSE DATABASE u201CQASu201D NORESETLOGS ARCHIVELOGS;
    9. Replace all occurences of string <PRD_SAPsid> by <QAS_SAPsid> in each line where <source_SAPsid> appears
    :g/PRD/s/PRD/QAS/g
    10. login in sqlplus, stop database
    11. as oraqas, delete old control files:
    rm /oracle/SID/sapdata1/system_1/cntrl/*
    rm /oracle/sid/saparch/cntrl/*
    rm /oracle/SID/origlogA/cntrl/*
    12. again login into sqlplus (as sysdba always)
    13. run this .sql : @ldQAS.sql
    note: it should give a message that control file creaated.
    14. Open the database using: alter database open resetlogs;
    15. alter database rename global_name to QAS.WORLD;
    16. drop user OPS$PRDADM cascade;
    17. drop user OPS$ORAPRD;
    18. create user OPS$ORAQAS identified externally default tablespace <tablespacename>
    temporary tablespace psaptemp;
    19. grant connect, unlimited tablespace, SAPDBA to OPS$ORAQAS;
    grant connect, unlimited tablespace, SAPDBA to OPS$QASADM;
    at SAP level:
    1. you can run BDLS to convert logicalsystems from PRD to QAS SID
    Bhudev
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    In both post, There is some difference specially like User droping.
    Whether I have to run BDLS or Drop usr and create or both activity have to be done?????
    Regards
    Dharmendra

    Please explain step by step:-
    7. Server : User : ora > sqlplus u201C/ as sysdbau201D > alter database backup controlfile to trace > exit
    In /oracle/SID/saptrace/usertrace, the last trace (check the time) is the script for recreating the control file.
    You will need to edit it. Please rename the trace file to ld.sql and send the file to the target system /oracle/SID
    Edit the Script: vi ld.sql Delete or comment out all lines at the beginning of the file before STARTUP NOMOUNT which is kept.
    Change old controlfile creation statement at the beginnig of the controlfile: Old line: create controlfile reuse database NOresetlogs archivelog; change to New line: create controlfile set database resetlogs archivelog; replace all occurences of string by in each line where appears :g / / s / / /g example: :g/P10/s/P10/T21/g Delete the following lines a the end of the script: ; RECOVER DATABASE; ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG ALL; ALTER DATABASE OPEN;
    Break into steps and explain. It looks confusing to me because I am new to ECC with Oracle.

  • DATABASE  REFRESH ACTVITY FROM EP PRD TO QAS

    Hi Experts, I am planning to db refresh from PRD to QAS on Enterprise portal systems.My environment is Windows/DB2/Unicode/SR2. Is db refresh process is same for ECC and EP or diifer? please provide me information for db fresh and is quite urgnet....is my first exp to perform this activity on EP systems.
    Thanks.

    The actual DB refresh is the same as the ABAP stack, the only difference is that you also have to get an export of the CI.  This is because there is data in the database that needs to change given the new instance name or hardware as well as an install has to be done again to update registry (windows) and the software: /usr/sap/<SID>
    You get a backup of the source, do the export of the CI.  Restore the DB and do the DB and CI import. The DB part changes the schema if you change and resets all the DB authorities- very quick.  The CI takes the longest- it essentailly does and install again, makes changes for the hardware/instance change and deploys all the applications/configuration again that gets reflected in the CI export files.
    There's a nice guide SAP has out there that describes the steps and such and now sapinst has options for the system copy which makes if straight forward.  There are lots of post steps that need to be done as well that are in the guide- we found a few others that are minor and will be found with testing.
    RTFM.

  • Copy SQVI report from PRD

    Hi,
    A report was created using SQVI in PRD and I like to know if there is a way to transport it to our DEV or QAS system?
    I know this should not happened in the first place hence just want to find out if there is a way to copy the SQVI report from
    PRD to QAS or is my only option is to recreate the report in DEV and then do the transport again to PRD?
    Thanks!

    You may have transport request if not then need to create a transport: Se01 --> create transport --> Select transport of copies --> Give description.
    select new transport --> Click on include objects --> object list from transport request.
    Now double click on the transport --> go to properties tab --> assign correct Target System.

    Hi,
    when creating Transport Requests in the Production system the requests are created as local requests that can't be transported between systems, and when the Transport Request is released the Data and Cofiles are not created.
    You need to change the client settings with Tx SCC4 to allow the creation of Transport Requests.
    You need to create a Temporary Transport Layer and Temporary Transport Route from Production to Test System. When you create the Transport Request make sure the transport request is using this newly created transport layer and has a target system.(Package also) when you release this request,  the data and cofiles will be created. The transport request should also appear in the import queue of the Test system.

  • STMS ,  logs? for transports from DEV 200 to QAS 200, 201 & 202

    We are transport from DEV client 200 to QAS client 200, 201 and 202 using stms and specifying which client we want the transport to go to.
    After the transports, how can the development team find the logs for these transports.
    Right now, we as basis can see the results after each of the transports to each client.  IF there is an error then we stop and ask the dev. team to review the logs.  However IF the transports go thru without error, HOW can we go back over time to confirm that there were in fact NO errors for transport to each client?
    Thanks
    Maria

    Hello Maria
    After you import the transport,in the STMS menu only you can see the option for checking import logs
    just click on that and you will be able to see the import logs of a transport.If you drill the logs,you can see everything what the transports has done,what objects have been moved,also if there are any warnings or errors

  • Can not transport from DEV to PRD (Hang up)

    Hi Experts,
    Please help.. I have this problem, was not able to transport from Dev to Prod, it just hang up.. I've read a lot in web how to solve this problem and did the following:
       ==> Stop all TP running in OS level
       ==> Delete all pending job in Import Monitor (with truck logo)
       ==> and the last to be done is to delete the data from table TRBAT, but it took so long to delete the data in that table.. What I've noticed is that the data left in table TRBAT is the transport number wherein user was log-off during transport execution (as in the middle of the process)..
    What should be the solution of this problem, as we can not proceed with the transport of our changes made in DEV system, as it just hang up in there.. and I'm also having this problem in deleteing data from TRBAT table.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Its well known problem which is discussed many times in many threads.
    Did you check TP System Log and TMS Alert of the System ?
    Execute RSTPTEST report to check the STMS configuration. Also check the existence/status of RDDIMPDP Background Job.
    Please refer these useful threads with similar symptoms.
