  • CTS+ : Error while importing transport into Portal QA system

we have configured CTS+ for Portal systesms, then we have created a

This tranpsort is available in transport queue of Portal Qua system , but on importing this transport in PQ7 we are getting following

  • Transport of Portal Content

    Experts,
I need to transport the portal content (only the IViews, pages, systems etc and not the background WD application!) from the dev box to the QA and later Production.
Do i use the transport functionality provided in the portal for this??
Can the portal content be extracted into a DC so that I can get the content into NWDI and tranport it through the landscape.
Whats the default approach(could also be the only approach)???
    Thanks,
    Vineeth

    Hi Vineeth,
For Transport you should have System Administration Role..
    Go to
System Administration -> Transport -> Export
Select the folder or content.. Right click.. Click Transport Package in context menu. And Follow..
Save that package in ur system.
Then import in ur degination system

  • Transport of portal content objects from EP 6 SP 15 to NW 2004s portal

    Hello All,
My question is regarding the transportation of portal content from a EP 6 SP 15 portal to the NW 2004s portal. We had developed a lot of content in the EP 6 portal. We had installed and configured business packages in the SP 15 portal.
Now, we installed a new NW 2004s portal and we want to transport all the developed content from the SP 15 to the new NW 2004s portal.
I exported all the developed content to a transport package on the SP 15 portal and the export resulted in the .epa file. I then imported it into the new NW 2004s portal. But the issue now is I am unable to see the system aliases which were created for all the systems. The systems do exist in the new portal but the aliases do not exist.
Is there anything that needs to be done to get the system aliases?
Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sunitha.

    Hi Sunitha,
I think while exporting you have to select the option include dependant objects also to get the system alias also.

  • CTS Transports in Portal

    Hi
Using CTS..how can i do transports in portal
    Thanks

Using Enhanced CTS (CTS+), you can transport portal and NWDI transports with transaction STMS.
After you have done the required configuration for enabling CTS+ in your landscape, portal or NWDI transports can be attached to a CTS transport request. Once you have attached your portal or NWDI transport to your CTS request, the process is similar to transporting any ABAP transports.
You can check out the following blog and article on how to configure this:
Enhanced CTS in close coupling configuration for portal environment

  • Error Importing a Transport in portal - Using custom role

    Hello Everyone,
I have a custom role “XYZ” which has a few worksets copied (as delta links) from the standard System Administration Role. These worksets include Transport, Portal Display and Monitoring.

    1.     Is it really possible to have this functionality (ability to Import and Export without Assigning System admin or super admin roles) achieved?
(I went through a thread Portal role for transporting objects on SDN which discusses this scenario)
    2.     How should I check for additional authorizations required for Importing / Exporting Transport packages into portal. (without having assigned the super admin role or system admin role).</b>Thanks To all of you…
    Joan Thomas

    Thanks for the inputs.
    I have fixed the problem.
To assign content objects to a package, you need at least read permission for the objects to be assigned.
You can only import objects into the Portal Content Directory if you have read/write permission for each folder in the Portal Catalog where the imported objects will be stored.
To create a transport package in a certain folder of the Portal Catalog, you need read/write permission for this folder.
These 3 points helped me do the required.

Especially strange looks the Deployable-Id: *
    solman.mycompany.com\sapmnt\trans\data/BIGK900007/ctsplus.par*
Maybe the different slashes "\" and "/" are the cause of the porblem? Both systems (Portal and Solution manager) run on Windows 2003 Servers.
I have checked the "Note 1232674 - class java.io.IO exception during import" and set up the full control permissions to access "\sapmnt\" for the local (solman) user SAPServiceXO3 but it does not help.
I've created a local "SAPServiceXO3" user in the server of Solman and have given to it highest permissions to the file share.  Has anybody any idea how to resolve the problem?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Transport of portal pages from Production to Development

    Hi,
I need to transfer the portal pages from from the production server to development server. I did see references from Development to Production but not vice- versa.
Can anybody please help me with this? What are the best practices?
    DEP :- SP19 and PEP - SP9.
    Thanks much,
    Dharmi

    Hi,
    The best practises are :
    1) All the Portal Servers in the System Landscape should have the same version, same support package and patches.
    2) You should never transport from Production to Development, it's always the other way round.
Why do you want to transport something from Production to Development ? We always develop somthing, test it and then trasnport it to production. Any modifications to be done, should be first done on the Development Server, tested and then transported to the Production. I don't see a need to transport content from Production to Development.
Anyways, if you want to do so can you always create a transport package on Portal Production Server, add those pages to the transport package, export the transport package. You may save this transport package on the local system or you may copy this from the export folder of the server to the import folder of Portal Production Server. Then on the Portal Developement Server import the file. If you have saved the transport package file on your local machine, then while importing select client, browse and then import the file from your local machine or else select server -> browse -> import folder -> select the transport package file and import.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,
    Sunil

  • Transportation of portal content

    Hi,
I was just wandering if there is any way to export all of my existing content from one portal to another
I already saw that it is possible to transport iviews, pages, worksets, and roles via system administration --> transport
That is not enough for me, I also want that other content such as properties, xmlforms, layoutsets, repositories,... are transported
Mainly I want to create a backup of my entire portal environment and copy it to a new (production) portal
Is this possible?  Is there some kind of tool to do this?
Is there a way to create a transport route from one portal to another, so that if I change something in my development portal, the change will be automatically made in the production portal?
    I'm using EP7.0 stack 10
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Vicky,
Yes these come into configuration datas which can be transported as *.configarchive files.

  • The effect of transport for portal

    Dear all
i wonder what's the effect to portal system  if i transport objects(infoobject,DSO,cube, query, wad) from bwd -> bwp.
as our bi-java and portal are installed at the same server.
are query and wads also stored at bi-java system ?  does it should restart server if i transport query and wad into bi-java system?
      thanks

I could easily tell you the answer, but really, the only way you'll learn this is to try it for yourself with tone. Generate a mono tone (say 400Hz) at -6dB and put it into MV. All you need to do now is to select one of the options, and play your tone, moving the pan control and looking at the output meters. Then change the preference (you must restart Audition for this to take effect), and try the other one. The difference will become obvious, hopefully...
Yes, -3dB centre is the equal power setting, but to find out how this works you should still try the experiment. Also, just because it says it's the equal power setting, that's only correct in theory. Because of the strange things that happen with bass and levels, most informed opinion regards -4.5dB in the centre as a generally more accurate compromise in practice. And of course you can alter the centre drop figure in CS5.5, so you can experiment with that too. Although you'll have to generate the tone elsewhere, unfortunately, like in AA3.

  • Transporting/Deploying Portal Content and Delta Linked Objects

I researching the best way to trasport/deploy changed ESS Portal content from sandbox to D>Q.  I have become familiar with the few changes my co. needs to deploy part of ESS.  I have read articles that say it is wrong to modify the "Content Provided by SAP".  The recommendation appears to be "use delta link objects". I created the necessary delta links in a new directory.
How do I get the delta link objects to display instead of the sap source objects? I this primarily related to how the  portal is configured or how the content is managed?
I'm really sorry about the general question (in advance) but this stuff is new for me and I'm essentially looking for some good direction here.
    Thanks,
    James

    Hi James,
Yes exactly right. You should create your own PCD folder under Portal Content to store your objects. How you structure that is entirely up to you, however in my experience I have seen two ways
    1. First by Function or Dept (e.g. Finance, Logistics, HR) then by technical object (iView, role etc...)
    2. First by Technical Object (e.g. iViews, Roles, Worksets etc...) then by function or dept or region (Finance, HR etc...)
Number 1 makes more sense to me. Just some other tips when it comes to creating PCD content:
    1. Put everything in your own namespace (e.g. com.mycompany) that way it is easy to separate from SAP content using filters.
2, Come up with a logical naming standard so you can easily identify content by group, function and technical type (e.g. for an iView you might name it whoswho with the prefix com.mycompany.hr.ivu resulting in a name com.mycompany.hr.ivu.whoswho)
    2. Don't give PCD folders any prefix (e.g. com.mycompany) as it ends up elongating the resulting URLs unnecessarily and you can run into problems down the track.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Portal System Transport (Best Practice)

    Hello,
We have DEV, QA and PRD landscape. We have created systems that connect to backend ECC systems. Since the DEV and QA ECC system has one application server, we have created a portal system of type singe application server in the DEV Portal that points to DEV ECC system. Subsequently we have transported this portal system to QA portal and make it point to QA ECC.
Now the Prd ECC systems is of type load balancing with multiple servers. The portal system that connects to Prd ECC system should also be of type Load Balancing. Now we cannot transport the QA portal system that connects to QA ECC system to prd since its of type Single Application Server.
What will be the best strategy to create the portal system in prd portal that points to PRD ECC.
    1. Create the portal system freshly in Prd system of type Load Ballancing. Does it adhere to the best practise approach that suggest Not to Create anyting in prd system directly.
                                                       OR
2, Is there any other way that should I follow to make sure that Best Practices for Portal Dvelepment is followed.
    Regards
    Deb

I don't find it useful to transport system objects so I make them manually.
