Transports on system landscape with no test environment

Hi,
Please share your experience about transporting from BWD to BWP. I have normally worked with BWD, BWQ, BWP, where we have the chance to test our transports on BWQ before moving the perfect changes to BWP. What precautions should I take when working and dealing with the landscape with no test instance?
Thanks

Hi all,
Certainly I see and hear that smaller companies don't have enough funds to implement 3- system landscape, but I don't see why they would want to do that - better save money then and just do ABAP R3 reporting if all you will have is just implementing one module. Aren't you suppose to have sufficient funds in order to maintain and have SAP R3 and BW running? When they start wanting to implement more modules, then it will get clumsy and unstructured. They would have to spend more effort in doing the workaround and dealing with an unruly environment.
Thanks

  • System landscape with one missing Hana (2 Hana / 3 ECC)

    Hi all,
We’re currently working in a landscape with only 2 Hana: one for DEV+Integration (to be connected to 2 ECC : DEV and INT) and the other for the production system (connected to the prod ECC). Any idea on how we can deliver our tested developments on the same environment (the dev) for integration testing ?
On the DEV system we would like to have a development version of each object connected to the DEV ECC and an integration version of the same objects connected to the INT ECC.
We can copy all objects from one package (dev) to another (int), change the authoring schema and adapt all the inside references. I’m looking for an easier way, ideally with delivery units (which should be the way we will deliver our views on the production system).
    Any input will be appreciated…
    Regards,
    Fred

    Dear Beate;
    Thanks for your question!
One of the key advantages and strategic benefits from our SAP SLcM solution is the fact that we are directly/automatically connected with core (academic supporting) backoffice processes like HR and Finance.
On the HR side we share for example the Organizational Management foundation and at the Finance side we are directly tapped into the core financial processes powered by the FICA engine of ERP.
If there are no strong/solid compelling reasons (beside the emotional ones ) to have a point-solution installation of SLcM we always recommend to have SLcM running inside the existing available business suite/ERP. Why?
Direct, automatic integration with HCM (HR)
Direct, automatic integration with FICA (Finance), from tuition fee to collection and distribution to general ledger)
Re-use of key supporting business suite engines like:
    1. Workflow
    2. Authorisation module
    3. DMS
Maintenance of only one system instead of multiple ones
You avoid building and maintaining extra 'interfaces' between ERP1 and ERP2+SLcM.
    Etc.
    Hope this helps!
Let me know if you have any other concerns or want to have a call, please drop me an e-mail.

  • Is it possible to do portal content transports through System landscape?

    Hello,
In order to transport content from portal A to portal B I am currently using transport packages: export the content from portal A, download it to the local PC and import it to portal B. The process is working OK but I still have a question:
SAP are transferring all the control on their systems to the System landscape, for example Java developments. My question is if it is also possible to make these transports through the system landscape so no local PCs are involved in the process?

    Hi Roy,
You are right in the point that development projects can be transported, using the NWDI, centrally managed through the system landscape.
Nevertheless, the PCD transports (EPA) have to be touched manually anyhow. Theoretically, you can set up an SDA and put an EPA into it, see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a3/782240da03e569e10000000a155106/frameset.htm for details.
But this only really makes sense if you want to transport your own application together with the portal configuration (iViews representing your application...).
So in the end, PCD transports are designated to be transported as you are used to - manually via the export / import function of the portal.
    Hope it helps

  • Transporting 3 system landscape

    Hi,
We have a 3 system landscape configured. Transports created in DEv are moved to QA and then to PRD. Now a transport has been created in QA.  When we release them, datafiles and cofiles are not created.
Please assist me in this issue. How do i get data and cofiles at OS level. I cannot change my transport route
Is there any tp cpmmands that will create data and cofiles at OS level.

In you QA box Change the settings in SCC4 in
"Changes and Tranport for -Client-Specific object."
If changes without automatic recording are allowed in a particular client, you can edit these on a maintenance screen without a request prompt window.
If you have activated automatic recording for a client, whenever you save changed client-specific Customizing settings a Transport Organizer query window appears. Here you can choose Own requests to generate a list of Customizing requests that contain your tasks or, alternatively, Create request to create a new request for the client in question

  • Need help in configuring CHARM with R/3 System landscape with seven systems

    Hi All,
we are planning to configure CHARM for our R/3 landscape.our current STMS includes seven systems.in the current STMS the transports flow as below.
                  D20->C20->C21->C22->C23->T20->P20
we require the transports to move in the same way as stated above even after CHARM is configured
1.please let me know if we can configure CHARM with seven systems.
2.if yes, how would the import happen( ie Action for import appears for all systems?).
    Regards,
    Anand Reddy

    HI andy,
the transports will move in the following order.
    D20(DEV)->C20(Consolidation)->C21(integ)->C22(reg)->C23(unit)->T20(final test)->P20(production)
transport will start in D20,then imported C20 followed by  C21,C22,C23,T20 imports and finally reach P20
the systems are not in parallel they are one behind the other

  • Indirect Role Assignment with HR-ORG in a system landscaper with CUA

    Hi all,
    we have 2 SAP systems:
    1) SAP ECC6 (with composite roles)
    2) SAP HR with PA and OM
We would like to assign SAP ECC6 roles through HR-OM.
Since HR-OM is not on the same ECC6 system, we would like to try the logic: HR-OM -> CUA -> ECC6
There are several documents that describe this situation (ex. SCUR351).
From PFCG point of view, we should create a composite role in CUA system which include simple roles of child system.
If we try to create a composite role in CUA central system, we can insert only simple roles available in central system (and not in child).
Any experience on this scenario ?
    Pros vs cons ?
Are the different possible scenarios ?
    Many thanks...
    Andrea

Whole idea of CUA is to manage your roles and users centrally, on the contrary you can manage the roles/profiles by setting up the attributes for the CUA thorugh Central user Management console - SCUM Transaction.
CUA has its own pros -
Central rep,Users Sync,Role Provisioning statergy - Global composites(consists of individual child roles) Distibuted model -Provisioing at individual child systems for roles, etc.Central user store, easy maintenance.
on the contrary - change documents is always a concern ( because cua uses - interface Ids or the RFC ids to push the idocs from cua to child system), CUA maintenance while system refresh - Copied distribution models have to be deleted and re-created, system backups has to be defined per you distribution model, password maintenance if defined global then Child systems act as inactive nodes, reading the roles into cua which are created in childs so as to establish a pointer to that system.
It also depends on the number of systems you have in your landscape so that you can calculate the overhead and then have a Go -no-Go decison on CUA.
Overall, I consider CUA as a good approach provided we streamline the process of provisioning, de-provisioning per the cua standards.

  • Transporting a request in single system landscape

    Hi,
I our single system landscape, we are using the scc1 t-code to transport a request from dev client to prd client, then it showing a message like target client is productive and protected against client copy for this reason every time we are changing the production client settings. please give me suggestions how to transport a request in single system landscape  with out using scc1 t-code.
    Regards,
    Reddy

    Olivier,
Are you sure SCC1 is just for client copy? I dont think so.
Client Copy transaction is SCCL for a local copy and SCC9 for remote client copy.
SCC1 allows to transport local requests within different clients, of course depending of what the transport request contains you can copy something simple or a lot of data (yes, I know, the title says something, but see the functionality).
I'm agree is not a good practice to have DEV and PRD in one server, but maybe he is using it for testing purposes? I saw different cases in the past and sometimes they had DEV and QA in one server, maybe this is the case.
Anyways, lets help him on his question.
Reddy, if you have any question, just post it.
    Good luck,

  • Virtual systems within Transport system landscape

    Hi!
I should map the existing transport management system landscape into ChaRM approach within SOLMAN.
The existing transport management system landscape has a lot of virtual systems with virtual transport routes.
Can some one of you explain the usage of such virtual systems with their virtual transport routes?
    Thank you very much!

  • Change Request Flow In a Three System Landscape --- PLZ DO REPLY

    Hi Experts,
    I am new to SAP and have this doubt;
Suppose we have a three system landscape with DEV, QTY and PRD systems in it.
Say we create a new change request in DEV system. So to transport it to QTY we will release that request from DEV using T code se01 .
Now the request will come in QTY systems queue and we will login to the appropriate QTY client and import this request into the QTY system.
<b>No my basic doubt is, after the testing in QTY how do we move this request to PRD system ?</b>
Do we again release this request from QTY system using se01 or we need to go at the OS level in the QTY system and manually add this change request in the PRD system buffer ? ( Please send if any reference link is there)
I will really appreciate any info in this regard.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Mandeep

    Hai Mandeep,
        First Thing,
-->If you are maintaining a common transport directory, the released change
request will be exported in that common transport directory..
--->Now you just enter in to the server(which is Transport Domain
            Controller).
--->In that go to Import Overview, now your QA server has one import req.
you just click the req. and import that req..
    >Now if you want to import the same req int o PRD.,Enter in to PRD
server.Go to tcode STMS_IMPORT, In the top go to
Extras>Other req.>add..click this and add that particular
req.that you want to import in to PRD server..
--->select that req and import that req...
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Solman configration for system landscape having virtual buffers

    Hi All,
We are having a system landscape with virtual buffers in the TMS.TMS transport path look like this
*Dev ->  Virtual Buffer -> Quality -> Virtual Buffer -> Production*
We need to configure ChaRM for this landscape. We are able to get virtual system details in Solman and created the project. But ChaRM is failing while we try to import the transport requests to Quality.
Can you please guide us to configure solman for this landscape.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Shaju

    hi,
if the goal is to have a better control of what is going to QA
the move to the QA happens anyway in 2 steps
you might want to control the release in your development (via solman). In this case just control the action "test transport"
you might want to control the import in QA. In this cas you manually import in QA
I don't see the added value to have an extra virtual system
SOLMAn will support your process with real system.  You can send to a virtual system why not (we are using this technique for other reason), but it is a dead end
TMS won't support your landscape scheme because the move of a transport to the next system is related to the import from the previous system.  If it is a virtual buffer you won't have the possibility to import it virtually.
Unless a Guru knows a magic trick I am convinced a virtual path won't work in our case.
I hope my explanations were enough to explain the constrains we have
    best regards
