Transpose... Does it exist in Numbers?

Has anyone figured out how to transpose data? In Excel, I could highlight a single column of numbers, copy it, and 'paste special' it as a transposed single row (consisting of many columns of data). I can't figure this out in Numbers to save my life. It seems like such a basic spreadsheet function...
And don't get me started about the lack of error bar functionality... add me to the list of disgruntled Scientists!
(sorry to rant... I needed to vent)
Cheers.

Then fill this over four and down two rows. You just Transposed. Remember this is the spreadsheet for "everyone else". Believe it or not Transposing is a very rarely used function by 99% of users. Yes it really is that rare, I teach it. Its not Ever in MS's excel tests, at any level.
Hope this helps,

That's because "most" people use it for making charts and shopping lists.
To describe it as the spreadsheet for "everyone else" doesn't let Apple off the hook. the function was there in Apple Works, it's still there in Excel and Open Office and it's not an advanced function at all; I use it all the time and I'm not a power user or an accountant. It's a basic function which should not be left out of even a basic spreadsheet...
And it's not the only one they've left out.

    G.,
The search results pane is gone in V3. If it's critical, stay in V2. I'm not being flippant, I have certain documents that I very carefully keep away from V3 because I don't want to give up the V2 features for those particular files. Some users have reported problems with having both versions active at the same time, so it's best to quit one before launching the other, but other than that you just need to be careful not to open your V2 documents with V3.

  • SOLVED: Mounting IDE ZIP Drives, "Special Device hdb4 Does Not Exist"

I thought I would post a follow-up, since I have finally resolved this long standing issue, which has plagued me since my first days with Linux many years ago.
As outlined in my original post below, every time I would attempt to access a Zip disk for the first time since boot, Linux (pretty much all distros I have ever tried, with the exception of SuSE 9.3) would fail to mount the disk and report back that "Special device hdb4 does not exist". Of course the "hdb4" part varies from distro to distro and machine to machine, depending on how your Zip disk is connected and how the distro names its disks, but the basic error has been constant. I have always worked around it by redoing the mount command specifying just the device, not the partition, and while that would always fail, it would force the creation of the device /dev/hdb4, and I could carry on. Annoying but effective.
FINALLY, a long term answer. I got my inspiration from a really snarky post I read in another online forum where someone had posted this very same question (this is a very common problem with no common answer it seems!). The respondant, who completely failed to provide a helpful answer, basically said "listen, the OS is telling you what is wrong - the device hdb4 doesn't exist - so fix it, and all will be just fine". Of course, the respondant didn't even bother to offer a suggestion about HOW to fix it.
However, therein lies the inspiration for the solution. Indeed they are right, /dev/hdb4 *doesn't* exist, so how to fix that? They had a point. I started researching the mysteries of mknod, a program that can create /dev files, and the even deeper mysteries of Linux device numbers, both major and minor.
In the end, I found a wonderfully informative document that described the current standard for the device numbering scheme used by mknod, and Linux in general. The key things of interest are this:
1/ The major number for IDE based drives is 3.
2/ IDE allows for 64 partitions per device, so the minor numbers are 0-63 for device "a", 64-127 for device "b" and so on. You derive the minor number of interest for your particular device by taking the starting value of the minor number range of interest for your device and adding the partition number to it. So, for example, hdb4 would have a minor number of 64 (the start of the minor number range for device "b") plus 4 (the partition number in "hdb4"), yielding a result of 68.
3/ The major number for SCSI based drives, or those that your OS treats as SCSI, is 8.
4/ SCSI allows for 16 partitions per device, so the minor numbers are 0-15 for device "a", 16-31 for device "b" and so on. You derive the minor number of interest for your particular device by taking the starting value of the minor number range of interest for your device and adding the partition number to it. So, for example, sdb4 would have a minor number of 16 (the start of the minor number range for device "b") plus 4 (the partition number in "hdb4"), yielding a result of 20.
In my case, Arch seems to be treating all of my disk based devices as SCSI, perhaps because I do have a real SCSI interfaced Jaz drive in my machine. So, the Zip disk of interest in my machine is sdc4 (my real SCSI jaz is sda, my Arch root is sdb, and the IDE Zip is sdc). Applying the above, for /dev/sdc4:
    - The major number is 8.
    - The minor number is 32 (start of range for device "c") plus 4 (the partition number) = 36.
Armed with this knowledge, I su'd to root and entered:
    # mknod /dev/sdc4 b 8 36
and like magic, there is was, /dev/sdc4. I popped a disk into the drive and my first attempt to access it was greeted with success, not the usual "device does not exist" error! By the way, the "b" in the above command is just part of the mknod syntax, and indicates that I am creating a block device (vs. a character device, or some other type of device - disk drives all seem to be "block" devices for apparent reasons).
SO, determine your major number by device type (it will usually be 3 or 8), compute your minor number by device letter and partition number, and add a mknod command to your system startup (so you don't have to do it manually every time) and you are done! No more annoying "device does not exist" errors.
Now for the kicker. It turns out that this information has been available under my nose all along. I just didn't recognize the code. If you do the following:
    # ls -ald /dev/sd*
Linux obligingly provides you with the major number and the start of the minor number range for your device. Since Linux has always detected the Zip *device* (just not the partition) this is really all you need to know. When I issue the above command, I get an output like:
    brw-rw----  1  root  disk  8,   32   date   time   /dev/sdc
Guess what, there they are! "8" is the major number of interest, "32" is the start of the minor number range of interest. If I had just recognized that, and known that all I had to do was add the partition number to the minor number to get the magic number to feed into mknod, things would have been easier.
Sorry for the long post, but like so many things in Linux, the OS doesn't make this easy on the uninitiated. I sincerely hope that this post may help lots of other people to resolve this vexing and longstanding problem.

    Solved!

  • RSPC Variant does not exist - Could not find or load print parameters

We are on BI 7.0 (support pack SAPKW70017).  We recently freshed test system from production.   After the refresh, we have problems opening all the process chains.
    1. When I go to RSPC to open a process chain, I get many messages like this:

You selected variant &0000000067180 for program RSPROCESS.
    This variant does not exist.
    2. When I go to SM21 to check the system log, it displays many entries like below:
EJ  F Could not find or load print parameters for step 1, job BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER/09134500

The print parameter record may have been deleted even though there was
a still a step that needed that data. This is an error as the
reorganization of the print parameters should prevent this from
    happening.
To fix the problem, edit the step and save it, copy the job, or

    these cases.
    3. I applied the OSS note 1169659 - Correction: Process variants not entered by BDLS.   The Basis rerun BDLS.  But it did not fix the problem.
Would appreciate if someone could provide any help.
    Thank you.

    Hi Rebecca.
    1) Please verify if exist process types called 'unknown job'. If exist:  delete process types called 'unknown job' in your process chain. To do that please remove the chain from scheduling (menu bar > process chain > remove from schedule), afterwards switch the detail view on (menu bar >  view) > right mouse click on the process type "unknown job" > displaying scheduled jobs > delete that job. After deletion of the 'unknown jobs' activate and schedule your process chain again.
    2) After the removal of the 'unknown jobs' please check if the error messages with the missing variants pop up when calling your process chain disappears. If not, please implement and execute the attached report Z_FIND_JOBS_WITHOUT_VARIANT which deletes the jobs without variants.
I have already attached report as Report Z_FIND_JOBS_WITHOUT_VARIANT, you can download and create the report accordingly.

  • Is there a capability to save/export the time capsule settings file when using the iphone/ipad airport utility. the "file" button does not exist on the latest airport utility app.

is there a capability to save/export the new airport 2TB time capsule settings file when using the iphone/ipad airport utility. set-up wasn't a problem but the "file" button does not exist on the latest airport utility app v6.3 to save the configuration file.

the "file" button does not exist on the latest airport utility app v6.3 to save the configuration file.
Sounds like you are a bit confused with version numbers.
Latest AirPort Utility version for the iPhone / iPad is 1.3.3.  There is no option or capability to export/import settings on the iOS version(s) of AirPort Utility.....although you could take a series of screen shots and save them for future reference.
AirPort Utility 6.3.x is found on a Mac.....not on iPhone / iPad. Export and Import options are found under the File menu in 6.3.x.

  • How do I connect to an AppleID that is linked to my purchases that Apple support says does not exist ?

My Iphone and Itunes have apps that are registered under the appleid 'broucks'. During the IOS 5 update process I lost the ability to connect to this appleid and am now unable to order new apps or more importantly update applications (which are locked into pre IOS5 state and thus not working well - especially Navigon).
I have twice been in contact with Itunes support who insist that this appleid does not exist and after providing me with the password for appleid [email protected] (which is an appleid I created after being unable to use broucks).
After telling them that I already had the password for [email protected] and requesting that they trace order numbers to an appleid and then either activate that appleid with purchases or transfer the purchases to [email protected]  they refuse to respond.
In fact I have the impression that I am not talking to human but poorly programme BOTS.
In 2007 I was given the appleid Broucks
Your Apple ID or .Mac account is: broucks
Both my Iphone(update) and Itunes (info) want a password for broucks.
It has been a month. How can I conclude this sad state ? Advice please.
Oh ... another puzzle. When I try to validate [email protected] it fails to validate saying that another apple_id has the same address (could it be broucks?).
Trying to get the password for broucks ....
My DOB is not recognized as valid and the email validation results in no email to any account I have ever had (certainly not the original email in 2007 that announced the creation of my apple_id ([email protected]).
    Thanks
    Broucks

This seems a not uncommon problem. Amazing that Apple has not acknowledged it in support or come up with a solution/workaround. It would certainly be in their interest as well as our (locked out users). I have devoted a lot of time to this and cannot solve it without their help (which is not forthcoming)..

  • Can't get Sequencing working (table or view does not exist...)

    Hello,
    I'm running JDeveloper 10.1.2 on a Oracle 9i database.
All my mappings are correct, i mean, i can query the database using the Toplink API and list all the objects on teh database. What it's not working is inserting new objects due to this sequencing problem.
    This is what i'm doing:
    myClass newObject = (myClass) uow.newInstance(myClass.class);
    uow.assignSequenceNumber(newObject);
But this is generating this Exception:
Local Exception Stack: Exception [TOPLINK-4002] (OracleAS TopLink - 10g (9.0.4.5) (Build 040930)): oracle.toplink.exceptions.DatabaseExceptionException Description: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
Internal Exception: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    Error Code: 942
I figured this could be a problem with the sequencing configuration and all that stuff (I don't have a sequence table). So i checked my configurations...
'Toplink Mappings' is setup to 'Use Native Sequencing', as per Notes on http://www.boku.ac.at/oradoc/ias/10g(9.0.4)/web.904/b10313/dataaccs.htm. This page also states this:
"When using native sequencing with Oracle, specify the name of the sequence object (the object that generates the sequence numbers) for each descriptor. The sequence preallocation size must also match the increment on the sequence object" (...) "Use preallocation and native sequencing for Oracle databases.
And this is exactly what i'm doing. On myClass mappings, the 'Use Sequencing' checkbox is checked, the correct sequence name is typed correctly, once this is the same sequence i've been using for years prior to Toplink, the selected table is the correct one, just as the id field on the table.
Another thing is that the 'Preallocation Size' on Toplink Mappings match the increment value on the database sequence.
    I must be missing something...
Can anybody shed some light on this?
    Thanks a lot to all.

    Hello
The method accessing check box tells TopLink to use the get/set methods on your object to set its attributes - If it is unselected, TopLink will set the attribute directly. Great if you have business logic in your get/set methods that you don't want TopLink to hit each time it creates an object after a read from the database (or registers, etc).
The problem you are encountering seems like you have sequencing set to "Use Default Sequencing Table". This option is on the "TopLink Mappings" page on the "Database info" tab just below where you would have set which connection to use. You will need to ensure you have the "use Native sequencing" selected. If you set this information instead through code, be sure you do it on the database login before you login to the session.
If this doesn't help, try turning on TopLink logging to see the SQL statement that causes the problem. The knowing the table name and SQL being used might help figure out where it is being set.
    Best Regards,
    Chris

            sdo_pc_pkg.create_pc(l_pc, 'XYZ');
        end loop;
    end;
Some of the PCs will create, but eventually it'll blow up with
    ORA-02289: sequence does not exist
In so far as I can tell, once I call sdo_pc_pkg.create_pc(), Oracle is creating a sequence with a name such as MDPCS_a_1751F$$$.  When it is done creating the blocks, it then tries to drop the sequence.  However the statement to drop the sequence is wrapped in double quotes - so if the sequence name contained any lowercase letters then it will error out when trying to drop it.  The values used between the underscores seem to be hexadecimal - sometimes they're numbers only, sometimes numbers and uppercase letters, sometimes numbers and lowercase letters.
Has anybody else come across this issue?
The issue isn't critical as the PC blocks do seem to be created correctly, so the issues are: (a) my pl/sql block errors out and (b) I'm left with sequences lying around.
For the former I'll catch the exception and ignore it, for the latter I'll just drop the sequences myself afterwards.

I tried the test on 11.2.0.4.  On that release I get an error during a rename:

  • Actual activity price does not exist for cost center / activity type

    Hi,
We are trying to upload the time sheet related data(number of hours an employee workred on a project) ect from Non SAP to SAP.
We have used a customized program and have loaded the data from se38.
All this HR data will be saved in CAT2
Later we transfer the time related data into SAP FI/CO using CAT7.
+When  tested  with a couple of employees time sheets, they got uploaded in SE38 proerly and when transfered it through CAT7 it was properly taking the hour*rate is cost and was reflecting in the respective cost element.
For a few time sheets in SE38 we were getting an error saying that the cost center(100501)/ activity type(EAT001) does not exist for 2010.
Hence we have taken, FY 2010, the cost centes and activity types in KP26 and have given the planned Activity as 1. No planned cost in KP06.
We have run the price calculation forr the FY 2010.
Then we were able to uplaod the time sheets, but when we tried to transfer the data through CAT7, it throws an error saying no activity price exist for cost center 100501/ activity type EAT001. If I ignore the warning an proceed, no amount is being calculated.
When uploaded employee time sheets before, all the cost were getting claculated and were entering into  the respective cost elements, but now no amounts are being calculated and it is taking Zero.
When checked the previous years data i.e, 2009 all amounts are fine, in KSII I can see the activity quantity filled with some numbers in 2009, where from are they comming? I have checked KBk6 nothing was mentioned.
    PLease assit
    Regards,
    shilpa

    Hi
I never used CAT* though, but the error means that you need to maintain a activity price in KBK6 (Actual price)

  • Cannot insert PS_TXN ORA-00942 table or view does not exist

    We are using jdev 11.1.1.4.0
We have two users in the database and various application modules which connect to these users using datasources
We have tested the application with applicatin module pooling enabled off to test for passivation and activation errors and the application works fine.
Also on our internal test enviorment which has more then 10 concurrent users the application works fine
But at UAT it has started suddenly to give errors Cannot insert in PS_TXN ORA-00942 table or view does not exist
When I see the data in PS_TXN tables in various users I can see that passivation has taken place for the same day when there sporadic errors have been reported all having the cause as ORA-00942 table or view does not exist.
But one strange thing that I have observed is that the COLLID column has sequence numbers interchanged for the users randomly, database user 1 has sequence number from database user 2 seq and vice a versa in COLLID
As far as this problem goes the passivation should have failed with ORA-00001 primary key voilated but that is not the case
May be the keys have still not got to a number where they collide.
But I am totally taken aback on such a behaviour and I am not sure how to correct it.
So we have two porblems here
    1) why did this error come in first place PS_TXN ORA-00942 table or view does not exist
    2) Why are the sequence numbers interchanged for the databse users ?

It looks like a bug in the framework and the suggestions are to use only one ps_txn and ps_txn_seq by modifying the internal connection
But the first problem is not yet known why did it appear suddenly

  • Field KONP-KONWA. does not exist in the screen SAPMV13A 0201

    Hi,
We have one BDC program to change Material Inforecord through transaction ME12. We have executed the BDC and Batch input session got created. When i execute the session, it is giving error "Field KONP-KONWA. does not exist in the screen SAPMV13A 0201 "
But when i checked in SE51 for Program SAPMV13A and screen 0201, field KONWA exist.  I have checked in Transaction ME12, this field exist in the same screen. But still this error message is appearing.
Is there any something wrong in BDC program.

How are you handling the subscripts (row numbers)?  Did you actually record this BDC in SHDB, or just try to write it?  If not recorded, do yourself a favor and ALWAYS record your BDC sessions, then write to match that recording....
chances are you need to refer to KONP-KONWA(nn) where nn is the row number in the table control....

  • Document Sequence Information Does not Exist for Bank Account

    Hello,
    Oracle E-Bus Suite: 11.5.10.2
    OS: Windows 2003
We are facing the problem while executing the ARPLABIM - Bank Statement Import program, 'Document Sequence Information Does not Exist for Bank Account'.
We have already reviewed Oracle Metalink Document: Document Sequence Information Does not Exist for Bank Account: Doc ID: Note:147773.1.
    https://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/f?p=130:14:3345134018905587318::::p14_database_id,p14_docid,p14_show_header,p14_show_help,p14_black_frame,p14_font:NOT,147773.1,1,1,1,helvetica
But the profile option Sequential Numbering cannot be set to Not Used due to certain funcational limitations. Please advise any other workaround.
    Thank you

    Adith,
    There are only two options:
    1. Setup document Sequence. OR
    2. Change the profile either the user level who runs this program (assuming a batch user name) or at the resp or application level. Not necessarily at the site level.
    Thanks

  • Account error: value does not exist in BB Company is displayed when Uploading a Journal to Oracle ADI Interface Table

    Environment:
Oracle ADI version: version Oracle ADI 7.2.12.04.25 and patch number 9493800
    Microsoft Office version: 2003
    How to recreate incident:
    1. Create a budget worksheet for a company
    2. View the budget information
    3. Upload budget information to the Interface Table
    Actual Result:
Account error: Value <value> for the flexfield COMPANY does not exist in the value set BB_COMPANY. I have noticed the same error is displayed regardless of whether I select options from the combo boxes or enter random numbers in the journal i.e. 0000 for each field.
    Expected Result:
Budget information to be uploaded successful especially when the data has not been amended
    Questions:
    1. What is happening to cause this problem?
    2. What is the solution?

The issue is resolved, no need to answer, the dbconnection class was calling the wrong db :(

  • Transpose columns and rows in numbers

I need to transpose columns and rows in Numbers and I do not want to write script to do it.  Is there an easier way?

Give me a proper transpose and I will uninstall Excel and never look back.
Ok, here's a proper transpose, that can be placed in an Automator Service so it becomes a simple menu pick as below (and can also be assigned a keyboard shortcut).
To use it (this is slightly different from Excel) you select the range you want to transpose, choose Copy Transpose, click a destination cell in an existing table in the current document or another document, and command-v (Edit > Paste) or option-shift-command-v (Edit > Paste and Match Style).
The one-time setup is as follows.  In Automator choose File > New > Service,  drag a Run AppleScript action from the left into the right pane, choose 'No Input' for 'Services receives selected' and 'Numbers' for 'in'. Then paste the following into the Run AppleScript action, replacing all text already there by default:
--Transpose - select range, run, paste transposed values where wanted
    try
tell application "Numbers" to tell front document to tell active sheet
set selected_table to first table whose class of selection range is range
                        tell selected_table
set my_selection to the selection range
set first_col to address of first column of my_selection
set last_col to address of last column of my_selection
set first_row to address of first row of my_selection
set last_row to address of last row of my_selection
                                  set str to ""
                                  repeat with i from first_col to last_col
                                            repeat with j from first_row to last_row
set str to str & (value of cell j of column i of selected_table) & tab
                                            end repeat
set str to str & return -- add line return after row
                                  end repeat
                        end tell
              end tell
      set the clipboard to str
display notification "Ready to paste transposed values" with title "Numbers"
    on error
display dialog "Select a range first and then try again"
    end try
    --end script
Hit the compile "hammer" and the script should indent properly. Then save the service with the name you want to appear in your menu, and it will thereafter be available via the Services menu (and keyboard shortcut, if you set one up in System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Services).
That's it. Less then five minutes' one-time set-up work and you've got a menu pick for a transpose functionality that is as convenient as Excel's.
