Trapped in an install loop.....

I have been trying to install CC on my new laptop, a Macintosh Air running 10.10, and am stuck in a loop.  After I download the Creative Cloud Installer.app, double click on it, initializes for a bit, and then tells me:  "Creative Cloud is needed to resolve this problem.  However, it is missing or damaged. Please download and install a new copy of the Creative Cloud...............
And then I am back at the start of the loop.  What's up?  And yes, I have restarted my machine multiple times, tried from home as well as from school.  Ugh.

Browncrawford did you migrate or transfer any applications or files to the Macbook Air?  Please try utilizing the steps listed in Error "Failed to Install" Creative Cloud Desktop application - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/failed-install-creative-cloud-desktop.html to reinstall the Creative Cloud Desktop application.

    Hi,
Since upgrading from Crystal Reports XI to release 2 (Windows XP pro), I have been stuck in an install loop.  Each time I launch Crystal Reports XI Release 2 from the start menu is says "installing Crystal Reports XI Release 2".    How can I prevent this from occurring?

Try this post http://technicalsupport.businessobjects.com/cs/forums/thread/3798.aspx I had the same problem.  Completely removed the software and registry keys, rebooted and then installed XI R2 and it worked fine.

There's a new menu entry in the latest version, allowing you to download all the extra content directly onto your hard drive, without having to keep inserting new DVDs etc. It's 19gb (compressed). If you have a normal/decent internet connection, you could reinstall your loops while you're busy doing something else. Or busy doing nothing.

  • Access to all installed loops only via new "loops"-project

Hi, I'm working with GB since its first appearence. Recently I tried to clean up my installed loops following Apple's advise. So they reside now where they are supposed to be, depending on their origin in
    .../GB/Apple Loops/
    or
    .../audio/Apple Loops/
The indexes have been cleared and newly built too.
Now, when I start a new project via the welcome screen, choosing "Loops", then I see all loops in the loops browser and I can use them all.
When I start another kind of project or just tweak any old saved project, then only a few loops are to be seen.
What am I doing wrong here? Some ideas? Thanks in advance!

  • Stuck in a perpetual install loop...

Ok, now I am in a perpetual install loop...
Maverick fails to install - error msg that HD is damaged and can't be repaired. Reboot in recovery mode and run verify disk-all ok. Run repair disk anyway-all ok. Run verify permissions for sh!ts and giggles-all ok. Run repair permissions too-all ok. Reboot....maverick automatically starts to install. And we start all over again.
    Can't force quit the installer.
Question: can I reboot my mac book as an external drive and manually delete maverick from the HD?

When you start up the Mac hold the shift key as soon as you hear the Mac "chime" (boot sound).
Release the shift key when you can see a spinning wheel on your display.
When the login window appears select "restart", don't hold any keys now.

  • "-error" "wStub" "721426". Printer is installed and working, but continuous install loop with error.

I get the above error, quotes and all, on my daughters computer recently. She is running Windows 7. The only change is that my husband recently did some network maintenence on her computer so that she could back up some of her media to the storage drive.
She was previously able to print from this printer (it's set up as a network printer, wireless for users) and had no issues. Now, she has this weird install loop. I was able to reinstall the printer despite the loop so that she could print again (it overwrote it with wrong data) but it still keeps trying to install and when the administrator permissions come up asking if we want to allow it, and we say no, then it cycles off and starts right back up again.
I have already followed the directions online for the re-regestering, and i have run a new virus scan.
    What next?

  • Only some of my installed loops are appearing in the loop browser

I'm fairly new at GB, but I thought I used to have more loops when it was first installed. One of the recent updates may have changed things?
For example, I can now only see four Acoustic Pickings: 04/05/19/21. This is with no filters applied in the browser of course.
Does that seem right? If I look in my Apple Loops for GarageBand folder in /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple, I see Acoustic Picking 01 through 21 inclusive -- that's 21 .caf files, not just the 4 visible in GB.
I have tried re-indexing (multiple times) using this tip, with no change:
    http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/FAQPages/ReIndex.html
Is this a known issue or am I missing something please? Thanks!

Thank you HangTime (and the trusty FAQ) -- this was my problem:
Turning off "Keyword Browsing" in GarageBand's preferences will allow all Apple Loops to be displayed regardless of key (the time signature requirement still applies).

  • Installing loops

I hope someone can help me. This is my first day an a Mac, and Im frustrated beyond belief.
I can see my "garageband" loops in the loop browser, but not the Acidfanatic loops I just downloaded. I copied the Acidfanatic loops to Macintosh HD/Library/Apple Loops/Acidfanatic. (I created the Acidfanatic folder.) When I browse to that location in Finder, I can see all the Acidfanatic loops. But when I use the search in Finder, it doesnt find them. After I copied the Acidfanatic loops from the image file to the folder path I described above, I dragged that folder to the loop browser in Garageband. It seemed to install. It asked me for my password and briefly said it was calculating a new index or something like that. But I still cant see the new Acidfanatic loops in the loop browser or in a Finder search.
    Any ideas?

You are right on the point.
Download the Apple loops software from this link: ftp://ftp.apple.com/developer/DevelopmentKits/Apple_Loops_SDK1.3.1.dmg
It will allow to convert the wave loops to aif loops.

  • Lion 10.7.5 Recovery install loops and will not complete install.

Hi on my Mid 2009 Macbook Pro with 8GB Ram it seems that a virus got into the system and was causing Safari to crash then affected iTunes, MS Word 2008, and others to malfunction.
    Steps taken:
    1.  Started in recovery mode on Recovery Partiion selected and recovered from TimeMachine backup
    2. On start up checked Software update and said All Up to Date.
    3. Safari still quiting unexpectedly.
    4. Started in recovery mode on Recovery Partiion selected and Installed new OS X Lion from recovery. This would not complete after 2 attempts was starting to loop. It will show the blue bar that it has 2 hrs 22 min, 1 hr 11 min, 34 min 32 ...etc then after 2 min it will then say -1,384,587,231 hours to complete, then go back to about 34 min. the blue bar is filled 100% at this point.  Then it will do it all over and over again.
I restarted and things appeared to be working okay.  I left the computer on with one web page and a Word file open while I did work on another computer.  It started a new Time Machine backup and seemed to be doing fine.  Then I heard it restart itself!  I checked to see what would happen.  It showed the grey progress bar below the apple logo like it is starting in Safe Mode, then the progress bar disappeared before completing and it just shows the spining icon for over an hour?  It appeared to be screwed.  I shut the computer off and same result to restart.
    5. Started in recovery mode on Recovery Disk usb drive selected and erased Hard Drive to Mac OS (Extened Journaled).
         Tested OK after erase.
    6. Ran Recover Lion again, and again and again same result.
    7. Left running overnight, and still running the loop and not completing.
    8. Reset SMC
    9. Reset PRAM
    10. Erased hard drive again formated Mac OS (Extened Journaled)
    11. Started in recovery mode on Recovery Disk usb drive Installed new OS X Lion from recovery - Same result loops and Never completes
    12. downloaded RecoveryDiskAssistant.dmg and created a new Lion Recovery usb
    13. Erased hard drive again formated Mac OS (Extened Journaled)
    14. Started in recovery mode on Recovery Disk new usb drive Installed new OS X Lion from recovery - Same result loops and Never completes
That is where I am at at this point. The drive is new (within 2 months or so since installed) and it reformats okay and seems to test okay in Disk Utiliy
I had also used the Terminal to run diskutil eraseDisk HFS+ MacHD "/Volumes/disk0"
This did erase the disk and had tried Lion recovery install again and still fails.  I would even try Mountain Lion, but have not upgraded to it yet. I think I need the computer working to purchase and install it.
I checked the TimeMachine back up disk on my iMac and disk utility says it needs repairs, when repairing it just goes and goes with no result and does not seem to be able to repair.
So at this point I would like to just get the laptop to install an operating system and work.  Then I will see if there is a way to recover files on the time machine back up disk.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ben

I have even reinstalled Safari to no avail.
The only way to reinstall Safari on a Mac running Lion or Mountain Lion is to reinstall OS X using OS X Lion: About Lion Recovery
You mentioned that you have v10.7.5 installed but I see v10.8.1 in your profile ??
Exactly which OS X is installed ???
Troubleshooting suggestions may be based on that information.

  • Have Soundtrack Pro, how do I "install" loops to FCPx?

As advised by Apple in 2011 I have FCP7/Studio installed on another startup disk.  I found the Soundtrack Pro audio loops and put them in /Lbrary/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple in the startup disk with FCPx.  When I open up FCPx in the Music & Sound window there are 2 Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro folders!!  Is this a bug?  Or did I do something wrong?  Should I delete the files in the Apple Loops Index, would that fix things?  I like how finally the Apple for Soundtrack Pro folder is no longer greyed out, but I don't like the extra folder there.
Also, why is there 2 Final Cut Pro Sound Effects folders, one of them is greyed out.

I need to get "Soundtrack Pro" inorder to populate the "greyed-out" folders?
Possibly yes. I bought FCP Studio back in 09. STP was one of the suite applications that came with it (it also came with Logic Pro Studio -- as well as ALL the Jam Packs -- so I effectively bought it twice.)  Since Apple put these apps on the App Store (FCPX/Logic), all the extras you *used to get* aren't there anymore. [You can still purchase Logic Studio from Apple's website store.]
I've also dragged in 3rd party loops (from siliconbeats.com [they have quite a few free loops available], etc.)
Also, I really don't know if you even CAN buy STP or the Jam Packs anymore. You can buy Logic Studio and you'll still get STP and all the Jam Pack loops that way... but that's rather expensive for just the loops.
(*Aria*) -- I don't think the empty STP loops folder is a bug. I think it's there for all of the people who owned previous versions of FCP and had STP installed as part of the suite.
PS - sorry it took this long - I got cut off due to maintenance last night...

  • Os 9 classic install loops

I bought an Ebay imac g4 "lampshade" running OS 10.4.11 minus OS 9.
Attempting installation from an OS 9 CD two icons appear in the dock: "Classic Startup", and "Install Language Kits".
They hop for a while until this message appears:
"Classic cannot find a Mac OS9 system folder on the startup disk to use.
You may need to install Mac OS 9.1. For more info click on Help."
Help says to double-click the Mac OS 9 installer and follow onscreen instructions. Of course this leads back to the loop....
The dock icons settle down. They don't disappear until you quit installation.
"Install Language Kits" was found in the HD's unused Mac OS 9 applications folder. Clicking on it produces the same loop......
How do you escape this loop?
My OS 9 CD installs version 9.0; maybe v.9.1 is necessary? But v.9.0 must be installed first......I know v.9.2 is best.
On the OS 9 CD there's a "System Folder" Is this identical to what the installer would create? I.e. is it possible to just drag/drop it to the machine's HD, and would this serve as the required OS 9 folder? Doesn't an OS installer send items like Extensions all over the place?

Only the two iMac G4 models introduced in 2002 are OS 9 bootable (all later iMac G4 models are not OS 9 bootable), and they need the model-specific version of OS 9.2.2 which came on their original disks for that purpose.
They can not install any earlier version of OS 9. Reason - all earlier versions come on stand-alone Install CDs, and the installers on those CDs will work only when the machine is booted to OS 9, typically the OS 9 on the install CD itself. Those OS 9 installers will not work in OS X.
Likewise, all OS 9 download updaters will work only when the machine is booted to OS 9.
For use only as Classic, and not as a bootable OS 9, you can copy (via Finder drag and drop) a working (i.e., bootable) OS 9 System Folder from another Mac, and it will usually work as Classic in OS X 10.4. and earlier.
Although the specs for Classic state OS 9.1 or later, OS X seems to not work well with anything earlier than OS 9.2.1. Since you will not be able to update a copied OS 9 System Folder, be sure to copy one of the final version that you need.
The System Folder on an OS 9 Install CD will not work for this purpose. Those System Folders have been highly tweaked, and will not be usable (for booting or as Classic) if copied to another volume.

  • OVM3 Guest PXE Boot goes into infinite install loop

    Hello Avi,
When I create a PVM guest, using OVM Manager 3.0.3, within the network path I pass something similar to the following:
    --args="ksdevice=eth0 network ks=http://<your_KS_server>/<path>/ks.cfg" http://<my_iso_server>/mounted_isos/OL5/
This works just fine, the VM pops up it finds the ks.cfg and does the install. However, on the reboot it goes right back to this PXE install and continues to do this in an infinite loop. I tried changing the bootloader from /usr/bin/xenpvboot to /usr/bin/pygrub, but if I do that it just gives Error: Boot Loader didn't return any data!. I also tried removing the bootargs and leaving it as bootargs='' and that also didn't work, same error.
Obviously the continuous rebooting into PXE and reinstalling is a bug, but how can I fix the vm.cfg file manually?
    Thanks,
    Roger

NOTE: This is for a PVM Guest.
ok, I solved my own problem but it's ugly.
Due to the infinite rebooting into the pxe installer, once the installer is done, I had to make sure on the reboot I turned it off before it goes back to the PXE. Once done I had to make modifications to the current vm.cfg. These are the parameters that you must modify:
    bootloader = '/usr/bin/xenpvboot'
    boot = 'n'
    bootargs = ''--args="ksdevice=eth0 network ks=http://<your_KS_server>/<path>/ks.cfg" http://<my_iso_server>/mounted_isos/OL5/
Comment out the above and modify the bootloader line on the vm.cfg as follows:
    bootloader = '/usr/bin/pygrub'
Side NOTE: Make sure your ks.cfg file installs kernel-xen and subtract kernel (-kernel) within your ks.cfg. Otherwise by default it will try and boot into the non xen kernel for a PVM and you get an invalid kernel error similar to this Error: (2, 'Invalid kernel', 'xc_dom_parse_elf_kernel: ELF image has no shstrtab\n')
    Hope that helps someone out,
    Roger

  • IPS-K9-min-5.1-1a.pkg install loop???

I have updated our various IPS sensors to this latest version. Many [or all] of them seem to be caught in a loop where they are reinstalling IPS-K9-min-5.1-1a.pkg. Anybody else having this problem? Is this a known issue?

I have verified that any attempts to put the IPS-K9-min-5.1-1a.pkg file into the autoupdate directory will result in the sensors repeatedly applying the package.
so, you can't use autoupdate to install this package....at least not without renaming the package once all the sensors are upgraded. May I suggest:
    IPS-K9-min-5.1-1a.pkg_CISCO_HAS_NO_QA
    sigh...another work day wasted.

  • 10.3 Server Install Loop

I am trying to get my 10.3 Server to run But after I install the Os and all of the other stuff I am geting a loop, Its asking me to put all of my Info in , Like my key and what not and all it does when its finished is nothing, It sits there. I leave for a bit and it stays at the configuring, I leaft it for over 2 days and its still does that, I have reinstalled the Os, and nothing. I have even put a coppy of the os on the hdd and installed from there and still it does that, Any clue on it?

if you backup your data from a NON-RAID Drive (Single drive), create a RAID array and then Restore from the backup you created... you will find you cannot boot from the drive.
Apparently the sector or drive header information in a non-RAID drive is different than in a RAID array... so when you restore the backup data from the non-RAID drive to the new RAID Array; you effectively corrupt the RAID array not allowing it to be booted from.
The solution is to create the RAID array and then re-install your system from scratch... copying over the data you want to keep from your initial backup one file at a time (don't do a complete system copy or you will once again, corrupt your new RAID install).
I had the same problem and it took me a great deal of time to figure it out.

  • Maverick install loop

I have just gotten a new hard drive for my MacBook Pro with Lion OS, but tried to upgrade to Mavericks. Installation looped around 10 minutes before finish and kept freezing. I now cannot get back to the original settings- every time I try to restart installation starts again and crashes. Does anyone know how I can return to my previous OS? I do not have a time machine backup for the new hard drive. Thanks!

    FishEvoDevo,
when you ran Disk Utility, had you booted into Recovery mode when you did so? If so, have you tried reïnstalling Lion or Mavericks (whichever OS the new drive’s current recovery partition came from) from Recovery mode? If you’ve tried that too, then you’ll need to erase your new drive and reïnstall the version of OS X that’s on your grey Mac OS X Install DVD. Once that’s been done, run Software Update (and if necessary, install Snow Leopard from the white retail DVD and run Software Update again) to get to 10.6.8. From 10.6.8, you can redownload and reïnstall either Lion or Mavericks, and then run Software Update once more.
