Trasfering photos from one folder to another

Hi Everybody-
I have a question on how to do something. I have two folders on my iPod Touch and want to take pictures from one folder to the other but do not know how. One of the folders is synced to a folder of the same name on my PC so I can put pictures on and off my iPod Touch. but the other folder that is on my touch is not synced to anything and I want to take pictures from that and put them on my computer, but do not know how.
So if anybody can give me some advice, I'd really appreciate it,
Thanks for looking and helping me out.
Sincerely- Doug

After updating to OS 4.2,, Apple added a feature to e-mail photos from the "saved photos" folder,,,so If i use some photography themed apps to create cool effects in my photos, then I can e-mail them to myself and use them for my portfolio, etc. AWESOME,,,thanks Apple !!! I hope this helps others who might have run into the same problem.

  • How do I copy a photo from one folder to another one in Aperture

I'm old and feeble      I cannot figure out how to copy a photo from one folder to another folder   and my 13 year old grandson can't figure it out either, so I feel better about it
    thanks

Um ... that doesn't seem ... like a useful workflow.  When you say "folder" do you mean a Folder in Aperture (shown on the Library tab of the Inspector) or a folder in Finder?  They are not at all the same thing.
Aperture is an image manager, with the requisite file management built-in.  Finder is a file manager.
If you provide a full description of what are doing, and what you are trying to do, someone here can set your straight.
Fwiw, IME, the learning curve if very long and uphill, but gentle.  What's unusual (esp. for Apple products) is that the landmass of Aperture is separated from the rest of your computer knowledge by a moat.  What I mean is, the first leap is the hardest.  After that, you'll be on firm ground, ready to explore.

  • PSE12 Organizer - can you copy photo from one folder to another and import copy into Organizer and still have original in other folder

I have been using folders to organize all my pictures and I will copy photos from folder to folder, often having them in 2 or 3 folders based on use.  I tried to copy a photo in Organizer PSE12 from one folder to another and you can only move it, that means I can only have one copy of the photo.  That is fine if I am using tags and want to search for it, but I want to have mult copies in mult folders. Organizer will recognize that it is there but it won't import it into the new folder. Until I move it, it stays in the original folder.  I can drag it out of Organizer and drop (copy) it into a new folder fine, but it won't show in organizer in the new folder.  Is there any way to copy and have multiple copies show up in multiple folders?

    Hi,
The organizer works on the principle of not having multiple copies of the same photo.
If you have multiple copies spread in different folders, then making changes to one doesn't affect the others. The use of tags and albums are there to give different views of your photos.
You can't have multiple copies with exactly the same name even if they are in different folders. You could select a photo and duplicate it (File -> Duplicate) and then move the copy into a different folder but the name will be different.
If you want different folders for a specific reason, it is possible to use albums to collect the group of photos and then export them to a new folder outside of the organizer. You can also rename on export which is useful if you want to arrange the photos in a specific order.
    Hope that helps a bit.

  • Can you move Photos from one folder into another?

    Doesnt seem like you can.
    Can you?
And can you create new folders on the Finder level within LR like you can in Bridge?

You can when inside a folder. Drag from the image not the grey border. If in doubt grab the center if the image.

  • Why can't I drag photos from one folder to another - even from one sub-folder to another

    I'm using Mac OS X (10.9) and Lightroom 5.2.

Are you dragging correctly? You have to drag from somewhere within the actual image, not from the frame surrounding the image.
If you are dragging correctly, what message do you get when you try the drag and drop?

  • How do I move photos from one library to another?

I have moved my 34gig iphoto library from my MBP to an external drive. I have now created a second library on the MBP with the intention of keeping just a smaller selection of my photos in this ready to edit.
Is there an easy way of importing photos from the old library on the external drive to the new one? Do they link up in any way, or, will I need to export a selection from the old library to a new folder on the desktop and then import from there?

To move all the versions, metadata and photos from one Library to another use iPhoto Library Manager.
Exporting from one and then importing to another will not get all the metadata (Faces, for instance) nor will it get the versions.
Another way to achieve what you seem to want to do:
    1. Quit iPhoto.
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the external drive.
Now you have two full copies of the Library. To choose between them: Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
    3. On the Internal Library, remove the pics you don't want with you all the time.
Now you have one full library on the external and another smaller sub-set on the Internal.
    A couple of comments:
    a. The external disk needs to be formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
b: When you're removing the unwanted pics from the Internal Library you need to delete them in batches of about 100 or so. Trashing more at one time can cause problems with the database.

  • How do I move pictures from one folder to another folder?

How are photos moved from one folder to another?  Second question:  How can a folder be renamed?

In PSE11 Organizer, your managed folders(folders from which you have imported your media) are shown in your left panel under "My Folders". There is a small icon next to this label 'My folders" which on mouse hover says: "Show folder hierarchy". Click on this one to see the folder tree. Now expand teh tree to a folder from where you want to move files from. Also expand the folder tree such that your destinatio folder is also visible. Just click on source folder so that you see the media to be moved. Select and drag them to the destination folder icon.
Also if you want to move your media to an unmanged folder(which does not have any media imported into EO yet), you need to right click teh parent folder and select "show all sub folders" to view that folder. And then you can move your media in the same way.
    Hope that helps!

  • How can I move a photo from one project to another

How can I move a photo from one project to another without creating a duplicate so I have the same photo in two projects.
I seems to me in the past when I moved the photo from project 1 to project 2, I would get a number showing the # of photos being moved and you could drag and drop in the 2nd folder and the photos would disappear from project 1 and show up in project 2. is there a setting I am missing.  Now when I drag and drop the photo no red # shows up and the photo stays in project 1 and also shows up in project 2 apparently creating a duplicate.
    Any suggestion?

Now when I drag and drop the photo no red # shows up and the photo stays in project 1 and also shows up in project 2 apparently creating a duplicate.
The projects are the basic containers.  Each image and all its versions are in exactly one project.
You can use an image in many albums, without duplicating it, also in many products like books, screensaver, slideshows.  But the projects are the basic structure of the library and you cannot have the same image in two different project, without duplicating it by storing the same original image files twice. Use albums to organize your library thematically.
Sorry, I misread your question.   Dragging an image file between projects should move the image and all its versions to the other project.  Aperture should only duplicate the image, if you hold down the alt/options key while dragging and move the image otherwise.
Which Aperture version are you using? And which MacOS X version?  Is your profile signature "MacBook Pro with Retina display, Mac OS 9.2.x, Aperture 3.5.1" still valid?
In Aperture 3.6 on MacOS X 10.10.1 dragging between projects is still working as expected:

  • How to transfer photos from one make to another

How to transfer photos from one mac to another wirelessly

I can give you a few ways to so:
First (and my favorite way) is the one said above.  First, on the computer with the photos on it, you have to do is turn on file sharing (go to system preferences, sharing, file sharing) and have both computers on the same network.  Second, have the computers you want the photos on, and launch finder.  On the sidebar, there should be a "sharing" category, and below it should be the computer with the photos on it.  Click on it, and you will be prompted for the computer username and password.  It will then show all of the files on your computer.  Then, just find the files, copy them (command-C) and paste them to where you want them! (If this confuses you, I can upload a video step-by-step on how to do this).
My second way is to use air drop. To start, Both computers must be on the same network.  Then, on the computer with the photos on it select all of the photos you want to send to the other computer (you can select many photos by holding the command key and clicking on photos), right-click (control-click) on the selected photos, find the button share, and click air drop.  On the computer you want the photos on, go to air drop on the side bar.  You should see the name of the computer on the radar-looking screen.  Click your computer.  The photos should begin to download to the downloads folder. (This feature is only compatible with certain computers)

  • IPHOTO 11 does not allow me to move photos from one event to another.

I recently upgraded to IPHOTO 11 and now I cannot Cut/Paste photos from one EVENT to another, I cannot flag a photo and  move the photo to another EVENT.  It will only allow me to create a new Event from the the flagged photo's.  IS there a bug in IPHOTO11 and can I back out if this problem is not resolved?

Make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and try the three fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
delete  the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library.
    Select options #1, #2 and #6.
    Fix #3
Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Copying photos from one computer to another, with descriptions

After editing photo descriptions and locations in iPhoto, it is desireable to be able to copy them to iPhoto on another computer, with the associated photo descriptions and locations.  In principle, this is possible by selecting all desired photos, then selecting File -> Export...  In the Export dialog box, in the "File Export" tab, select "Include: Titles and keywords", and "Include: Location information".  Copy the exported files to the other computer, and do a File -> Import to Library ...
In practice, this works fine with images taken by some cameras, and not with images from others.  In my limited experience with a Fuji F80EXR and a Canon SX230HS, the above work flow works with the Fuji.  But, with the Canon, while the exported files clearly have the description data embedded in them (as seen by GraphicConverter), it is not imported into iPhoto, nor is it visible in Preview's Inspector.  The workaround I use is to run an exiftool command on the exported files.
Exiftool is a command line utility that can read and write meta data in image files:
    http://owl.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/
I run the following command on the exported files to rewrite the IPTC Caption:
exiftool −overwrite_original_in_place -tagsfromfile %f.jpg -ext jpg -"IPTC:Caption-Abstract>IPTC:Caption-Abstract" *.jpg
Note that the above command overwrites the files that were exported from iPhoto.  If you wish to leave the original files intact, with an "_original" appended to the file name, run:
exiftool -tagsfromfile %f.jpg -ext jpg -"IPTC:Caption-Abstract>IPTC:Caption-Abstract" *.jpg
I'm not sure why it is necessary to copy and rewrite that data.  Perhaps there is something strange in the format of the meta data in the file as it comes from the camera, and the iPhoto export does not correct this strangeness. Copying and rewriting the data by exiftool seems to put things right.
The above works for me, but is somewhat unwieldy.  Is there a better way to copy photos from one computer to another, if iPhoto refuses to import the description data that it was written to the exported files?

Thanks for the pointer.  I did a test with 10 images, and confirmed the iPLM works, even with the problematic images from my Canon SX230HS.
The workflow is to use iPLM to create a new Library on the computer that has the photos you want to copy.  Copy the photos to the new Library.  Copy the new Library to the second computer using a method of your choice (file sharing, USB flash drive, etc).  Copy the photos from the new Library to the existing iPhoto Library.
iPLM costs $20, whereas my original solution was free (but you need to invest the time to get exiftool installed and working).  But, unlike exiftools, iPLM also copies over the Faces information, so it is likely a worthwhile investment if you use that feature.

  • Can I move photos from one computer to another using Vault?

Can I move photos from one computer to another using Vault?  I use an external hard drive as a vault for my Imac and I want to import photos to my Macbook pro.  I have aperture 3 on both units.  Can I just plug the ext. drive into the laptop and import from the vault?

You can't import from the vault but you can restore that vault onto the MBP. This will restore the complete library that is contained in the vault.

  • Can't move document from one folder to another

In the previous incarnation of Pages, right when it first developed Folders (a long overdue development), I was able to easily move a document from one folder to another on my MacBook, as well as my iPad.
Now, whenever I grab a document and try to drag and drop it into a new folder to move it, it won't let.
Did Apple actually remove this functionality from Pages?

Didn't have the Yosemite MBA powered up, so verified this on Mavericks with Pages v5.2.2. Since Apple has essentially frozen the Pages v5 codebase, figured this would also work on Yosemite.
Any application (e.g. TextEdit) that takes advantage of this titlebar feature can move documents in this manner.
In the Finder, you can move a document from one location to another by depressing the command key while dragging the file.
In Pages v5.2.2, with the document chooser open, I can use the preceding sentence move technique to move a file from an open folder into the Pages document chooser and it will automatically switch the Pages document chooser to inside that external folder — without launching the document. But, the command+drag feature does not work to move a document visible in the Pages v5.2.2 document chooser to another Finder location, or even into a folder visible within the document chooser.
