Trasferring Contact Information to iPhone

I know this is early, but does anyone know if you can transfer contact information from Palm to the iPhone?

iTunes gets the information from either your Apple OS X address book, or your Outlook Address Book -- so you have to sync your Palm info with those, and then it will go to your iPhone.
"iPhone syncs with the address book you already use on your computer — Address Book or Entourage on a Mac, or Outlook or Outlook Express on a PC. If you keep your contacts on the web using Yahoo! Address Book, iPhone can sync with them, too. To get ready for iPhone, organize your contacts in one of these applications and make sure they’re up to date with the latest phone numbers and email addresses. If you don’t have contacts on your computer, don’t worry. You can still enter them directly into iPhone."

  • Missing contact information in iPhone

    Hi there!
Using Windows 7 and Office 2007 with latest iTunes Version, I got the following:
Some of my contacts have a huge amount of different numbers, like WORK / HOME / WORK FAX / HOME FAX and a private cell next to a work cellphone.
On my iPhone I got nearly all contactdetails BUT I`m missing the "CAR" number (I used that for the work-cell.
Seems itunes is not syncing all information stored in Outlook. Is there a chance to get
    a) information which details are synced and which not?
    b) getting itunes to sync ALL such entries?
    Thx for you help!
    A very very iPhone newbie....!

    I have a similar problem.
I have two iPhone 3Gs with iOS 4.0.1 which, when synching via iTunes on my iMac, do not synch a lot of the information in my contacts.
For example, I have a lot of information in my Notes field in Contacts. Only the first 4 lines, or thereabouts, synchcronises to the iPhone contacts. Same for both iPhones.
    Is this an iOS4 issue?

  • Can't import contact information from iPhone when synching

    Hi guys,
When we are using iTunes to sync my wifes' iPhone & Mac Pro, we have never been able to get the address book to sync with her computer. She has a ton of contact info on her phone and it is becoming more and more important to get these over to the computer. We have done all of the basic stuff (ie making sure "Sync address book contacts" is checked in iTunes), but still when we do a sync we can not get the info from the phone to the computer. If anyone has any information on why this may be happening and how we can fix it your input would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hello there, auscaz.
The U2 album should be showing in your Purchases in iTunes. The following Knowledge Base article offers up the steps on how to download a previous purchase:
    Download past purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
Download previous purchases on Mac or PC
Make sure your Mac or PC meets these system requirements:
    iTunes 10.3 or later
You need iTunes 10.6 or later to download previously purchased movies and TV shows.
iTunes account in a country where iTunes in the Cloud is available
    iTunes Store
Open iTunes and go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased in the Quick Links section.
Select the content type that you want to download (Music, Movies, TV Shows, Apps, or Books).
Select Not in My Library to view purchased content that isn't on your computer.
Find the item that you want to download. You can browse using the menu to the left. If you have more than 2,000 songs, you'll see Recent Purchases instead of All Songs or Albums.
Click the Download  icon next to the item you want to download.
If an item is already in your library, the Download icon won't appear.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • My iphone 4s is importing contact information from FB and my email account.  When I pull up my contacts it only shows e-mail information and the phone numbers have disappeared.  How do I get my old contact list back with the phone numbers?

My iphone 4s is importing contact information from FB and my e-mail account.  When I try to look at my contact list it is showing everyone I have on those lists and it only shows their email addresses.  The phone numbers for my contacts have disappeared and I don't know how to get them back.

Hi macmac57. I don't memorize my numbers anymore, so I know how important it is to have all your contacts on your phone at all times. Did an update occur or a new application download when your contacts disappeared? Have you been backing up your device with your computer? You can try to restore your contacts from your last backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Are you syncing your iPhone between multiple computers? This can sometimes create issues with your contacts. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1474
If you were already using iCloud to back up your contacts, check out http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3998 for some great tips from Apple.
I do hope this has been helpful for you to restore your contacts.

I recently upgraded my iPhone 4 with iOS 5 and ICloud.  My Contact information is missing phone numbers.  What is my fix?

Try a reset. Press & hold the Power and Home buttons together for 10+ seconds, ignoring the red power-off slider, until you see the Apple logo. It is safe to do, there should be no content loss. It is the same as rebooting your computer.

  • When I view emails on my Iphone, I can see the senders phone number. How can I ensure other recipients cannot view my contact information?

I have upgraded to the IOS 8.1 on my Iphone 4S. I recently noticed while I check my emails I can see read the senders phone number. There is even a prompt to add their contact information unto my phone. Is there a way in which I can block my contact information from others?

As simply as I can manage this is the idea behind phone numbers and emails in iMessage. All of this is example only. Apply it to your personal situation. iPhones have phone sevice, iPads do not. Both can use iMessage but how if the iPad has no phone number? Via email. So from your iPhone you want to send a message to your brother who has an iPad so you would send it to his email. Apple's server then takes the message and says "hey that dudes iPad is using this email for iMessage" and sends the message to the device. Your brother then sends a message back from his iPad to your phone number. Apples server then says "hey that dude is using this phone number on his iPhone we'll send it there, but wait that number is also being use for iMessage on that iMac (Messages OS X 10.8.2) lets send it there too". And you receive the message on both your iPhone and iMac. The benefit of setting an email to recieve iMessage on your iPhone is if you have an iPod touch or iPad (they recieve at email) that you want to recieve the messages along with the iPhone. With that your brother and his iPad would send a message to your email, instead of your phone number, and the iPod, iPad, iPhone, Mac or any other device you have that can use iMessage will recieve the message from your brother.

  • Changes to contact information in iMac / MacBook Address Book results in duplicate entries only on the iPhone / iPad

I have my iCloud account synced to an iMac, MacBook, iPhone 4, and iPad 2.  Any changes I make to a contact on the MacBook and iMac result in 2 different contacts on my iPhone with the same name.
In other words, making changes in the address book on my iMac or MacBook, adds another contact on my iPhone / iPad with the new information and same name.  As an example, if I have "John Doe" as contact on all of my devices, and I decide to make a change on my MacBook or iMac, I suddenly have 2 entries on my iPhone as John Doe.  They are not exact duplicates.  1 of the John Doe entries has my original information, and the other John Doe has my new information.  Deleting the "old" John Doe contact deletes all of the entries on all of my devices and I lose all of my contact information completely on all of the devices for John Doe.
Making changes to a contact on my MacBook and iMac only causes issues with my iPhone / iPad.  The synchronization between my iMac and MacBook work just fine, and a new entry with the same name is not created.  My MacBook and iMac do not show duplicates so the "Look for Duplicates" function in my address book doesn't solve the problem on my iPhone.  The only solution so far that seems to work is to go into the iCloud Settings on my iPhone / iPad, temporarily turn off my Contacts, thereby effectively deleting them, and then turning the Contacts back on.  I did change my Apple ID email address recently so I wonder if that plays a role or not.  My new Apple ID has been changed on all of my devices.
Hope that makes sense and hope some people out there have some ideas.

If you are using Outlook 2011, make sure you have the latest service pack and update.
Make sure your Mac Book and all devices have the latest update.
If the Calendar on the Mac Book is correct go to step 3
Assuming Mac Book Calendar is correct, remove accounts from iPhone, iPad.
Reconnect account to iPhone, iPad account.
All calendars should now be in sync.
There are times when the Mail, Calendar, Contact application has been corrupted (Outlook 2011, Mac Mail, Entourage, etc).  This will cause all kinda of issues on your devices.  You have to repair the mail client first.  In the case of Outlook you can delete the profile and recreate it.  In Mac Mail you can rebuild (from Tools on the menu bar)

When i share a contact from my iphone and sent it to any other iphone the information within the notes tab displays incorrectly,

I just attempted the share myself with a contact and found it did not transmit the notes field either. I've only used this method for sharing maybe twice since I've had my iPhones. I don't remember if it ever worked before, and then I wouldn't know why it wouldn't. Sorry I couldn't help any more than that.

  • Friends receive different contact information (name/number) when coming from different apple devices (iPhone 4 & Macbook Air)

Whenever I use iMessage on my iPhone 4 and send messages to my friends they receive the messages just fine and I can also view them in the iMessages app on my Macbook Air, however, whenever i reply to their response via my Macbook Air it doesn't seem to use the same contact information as my iPhone 4. My friends receive a new contact with the message i sent from my Macbook Air. How do i get them to use the same contact information so i can continue a conversation without my friends realizing that im using different devices?

    HI,
    On the iPhone
Settings > Messages  and adjust the Send From and Received At options
    On the Mac
Messages > Preferences > Accounts iMessages account
You may need to go to the Send From drop down at the bottom.
The Mac version has  Received At check boxes and a separate Send From drop down.
The issue comes around which type of iMessage the Mac versions see the messages as.
The chances are that it arrives after the iPhone gets the "original" and therefore is seen as A "Sync copy".
As this is not an on-going conversation the app regards what you see as a reply and a New Message and Sends From comes in to play.
You may also have different Received At and Send Froms set up on each device.

  • Updated 2.2 Iphone Software and lost all contact information! HELP!!

I have the old 8G Iphone and updated the new 2.2 Iphone software and lost all my contact information, video, pics, etc. I tried to hit restore and it did not bring anything back. Does Itunes save info as a back up? HELP!!
    Anthony

In regards to contact info, the iPhone is designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer.
With XP, this can be with Outlook 2003 or 2007, or with the address book used by Outlook Express, which I believe is named Windows Contacts.
Photos captured by your iPhone should be imported by your computer, as with any other digital camera.
Music and video transferred to your iPhone should remain in your iTunes library on your computer, and the same for photos that were transferred to your iPhone from your computer.
iTunes creates and maintains a backup of your iPhone, which is updated if needed as the very first step during the sync process - if any of the data included with your iPhone's backup has changed since the last sync.
The backup stores data such as most iPhone settings, email account settings, SMS messages, notes created with the Notes application, recent calls, call favorites, contact info, and photos that were captured by your iPhone, but it isn't a good idea to depend on your iPhone's backup only for the last two. As already provided, contact info is designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer, and photos captured by your iPhone should be imported by your computer - as with any other digital camera.
You updated to 2.2 from which firmware version, and did you sync your iPhone with iTunes immediately before installing firmware update 2.2 to update your iPhone's backup if needed?
You can try restoring your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup. This will completely erase your iPhone followed by re-installing the current firmware version, which is 2.2. After 2.2 is re-installed, you will be prompted to restore your iPhone from your iPhone's backup, which is the default selection. After your iPhone is restored from your iPhone's backup, this must be followed by a sync with iTunes to re-transfer your selected iTunes content from your computer to your iPhone along with any photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone.
If your contact information and photos that were captured by your iPhone are not restored from your iPhone's backup and you didn't sync contact information with a supported application on your computer and you didn't import the photos that were captured by your iPhone, this data will be lost.

  • Can my contacts on my iPhone see my personal information such as my home address and "related names" (relatives)?

I was setting up my own info in Contacts on my iPhone 5S to keep things organized and tidy. I added in my home addresses (I have two) and added my relatives' names as well. I did this to make things convenient for me, especially when using Maps... I can just type or say "home" or "home2" instead of typing in the entire address or scrolling around and zooming in with my fingers. It's especially handy when I'm driving and don't want to use my hands. I also added in my relatives' names so I can just tell Siri to give me directions to "aunt Debbie" or "call uncle Joe," etc...
But then I realized this is information that my contacts can probably see. Many of my contacts are only professional acquaintances (not friends) and I don't want them to know my home addresses or the names of my relatives. All I want my contacts to see is my phone number, job title, and the link to my LinkedIn page.
As far as I know there is no setting to control what info is visible to your contacts. If there is, can someone please point it out to me? If not, is there another solution? Or should I just not have my addresses stored in my phone (which kind of defeats the purpose of the phone being convenient when you need it to)? Any help is appreciated, thanks.
    iPhone 5S
    iOS 8.2

I hope that's right. With social networking and social integration and now iCloud in the picture, I wonder what gets synced these days between contacts. I have contacts in my iPhone who I have no idea who they are but they automatically synced to my phone simply because I had an email exchange with them once upon a time. And I'll get those same peoples' birthday reminders (as if I care), LinkedIn links, and though I don't use facebook or twitter I'm sure those show up on everybody's contacts who uses them.
I used to be more tech savvy a few years ago but with more responsibilities as I get older I just don't have the time to study what's what these days. These days it seems like everything is now about the "cloud" and I have no idea what iCloud will sync automatically with other iPhone users. I'm growing increasingly wary about who can see what, and my home addresses and relatives' names are on top of that list.
    Thank you for your reply.

My computer backed up my iPhone before I updated my IOS, now itunes crashes everytime I restore!  How can I get my contact information back?

    When does iTunes crash?
When you connect to the computer?
When you click on the restore button?
    At sometime during the restore?
Does it crash or does just iTunes freeze?

  • Recovering Contact Information FROM an iPhone

I've seen a lot of tips on how to recover information that's been lost from an iPhone, but I'm trying to do the exact opposite.
Recently I had to reinstall Windows on my computer and lost all the contact information I used to sync to my iPhone. The only place where that information exists anymore is on my iPhone, but I'm afraid it'll disappear if I do another complete sync with this computer.
Is there a way to get that info off of my iPhone and back into my computer so I can access it there?

You don't need Outlook of ANY version for syncing contacts. Copied from my previous post.
With Windoze, you can sync contacts with Outlook 2003 or 2007 along with calendar events, *or with Windoze Contacts for syncing contacts only.*
Windoze Contacts is included with Windoze - the address book used by Outlook Express with XP and earlier where it is named Windoze Address Book, and with the address book used by Windoze Mail with Vista and 7 - the name change for Outlook Express with Vista and 7.
Since you didn't read the first sentence with my previous post very carefully, I'll repeat the following which was also copied from my previous post.
Enter one contact in whichever supported application on your computer you are syncing contacts with - make the contact up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which you want to select.
So enter one contact in Windoze Contacts if the application does not include ANY contact info before the first sync to ensure the merge prompt is provided with the first sync for this data, which you want to select. Syncing contacts with Windoze Contacts is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with Windoze.
