Trash can in Photoshop Cs5

Does anyone know where my image goes if I delete it in the "open file" window (ctrl + O -box)? Does Photoshop have a trash can?

On Windows the File - Open dialog is provided by Explorer.  Thus, if you've set things up to use the Windows Recycle Bin (the default), you should be able to open the Recycle Bin and Restore your file.

Can Adobe Photoshop CS5 upgrade be used on 2 computers or just 1?

You can have it installed on 2 machines but you can use only one at a time (laptop/desktop, home/work).

  • Can the Photoshop CS5 upgrade be installed on two pcs?

I have photoshop CS2 installed on my desktop and have an upgrade to CS5 on the way. Someone told me that with current adobe products, it's ok to install a copy on your desktop and on your notebook, which is what I'd like to do with photoshop CS5. Is that ok, or was I mis-informed, and installation is restricted to a single pc?

One at a time wouldn't be an issue, as long as that means what is sounds like it does. Does it literally 'call in' to adobe and make sure it's the only install of that key that is running?
But, good for adobe for setting it up this way. It will be handy to have a copy on the notebook for times we are on the road.

  • After installing PhotoShop CS5.5 on my new Lenovo Yoga Pro all the icons in the tool bars are suddenly really small - I can hardly see them. Anyone know what to do to make them bigger?

    Please help

You can't - Photoshop CS5.5 is much older than the high res display on your laptop.
UI Scaling at 200% was added as a feature in Photoshop CC 2014, and will scale for your new high res display.

  • Cannot Install Photoshop CS5 [Please Help] :(

I have tried multiple times to install Photoshop CS5; it never works. I have tried using different Internet browsers, with and without the Akamai download application, and by clicking 'Run As Administrator'.
The first time I tried to install Photoshop CS5, I used the Akamai downloader. Because the Akamai application is a writhing piece of garbage, I, of course, came out with an error. I then decided to download the files directly, without the Akamai downloader.
After downloading the files directly, I was certain I would not have any issues. Wrong. Windows found a way to piss me off and gave me an error while extracting the files using PowerArchiver. The error stated that the following:
    "Error writing to a file.
"Possible reasons: Disk full or no write permissions.
"Please check if you have permissions to write to this folder.
    "Vista users:
"In Microsoft Vista, writing to certain folders is not allowed (i.e. C:\Program Files). You will need to start PowerArchiver as Administrator. If you are extracting files you can use drag and drop from PowerArchiver main interface to extract files to that error.
    "Error: 0."
I have checked my hard drive space - I have enough space. I checked the write permissions of the folder I was extracting to - I am permitted to extract the files to that folder. I have tried 'Run As Administrator' in PowerArchiver, and still no success.
Could someone please assist me because I want to use try out Photoshop CS5 until it expires, and I can't do so if Windows wants to screw me over all the time.
    Some Things to Note...
    I am using Windows 7 64-Bit
My computer can handle Photoshop CS5 (I checked)
I have tried using Firefox and Google Chrome
I have tried using the Akamai downloader and not using the Akamai downloader
    I have tried multiple fixes
Windows is trash - I knew I should have bought a Mac...
Thanks in advance I apologize for my sour attitude. I am just really fristrated at the moment.

I feel your frustration, but take heart, Windows 7 is not trash.  You just need to become its master, and doing so requires different machinations and skills than with past versions.
Let me also say that the greener grass on the Mac side is spray paint.  Trust me, I am involved with both.  Windows is more powerful - once you master it.
First, if you're having problems you perceive as the system blocking you from getting what you want done, may I suggest that you may be a candidate for disabling User Account Control.  This is not a decision to be taken lightly - you should fully understand what UAC does for you and why you might want to disable it.
In a nutshell, UAC makes everything you do, even though you may be logged-in with an account that's in the Administrators group, operate as though you are a lowly non-privileged user, and attempts to prompt you with an annoying dialog every time you try to do something that requires Administrator privileges.  I say "attempts" because it doesn't always happen when it needs to.
    I suggest reading further here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Account_Control
If you become convinced you'd rather be an Administrator all the time, and are willing to take the risk that software you run from now on will be able to make arbitrary changes to your computer that require Administrator privileges, you can disable UAC; it's really quite simple to do.
To do so, click Start and type UAC into the search box.  When Change User Account Control Settings comes up, click it.  Drag the slider to the bottom, confirm the dialog, then reboot your system.
If you had any problems because of UAC, this will work around them.
    ALL THAT SAID...
I suspect your problems run deeper than just UAC, and possibly disabling UAC won't help you with this specific problem.  You may have permissions issues...
Did you upgrade your operating system from an earlier version?
Was the disk originally formatted or the data put on the disk by another computer?

  • Cannot find a link to download Photoshop CS5

I bought the disk version for £400+ but it's for Mac, I no longer have Mac and therefore want to install it on my PC. What I thought would be a simple download is turning into a nightmare. I cannot even find just a trial version. I don't want to download CS6, because I don't have the money to waste to purchase the whole set again. Could you please direct me to  link where I can download Photoshop CS5.
Or will the serial code work for CS6?

Direct Download Links for Adobe Software
And like it or not, you will have to upgrade to CS6. Serials are different across platforms and versions:
Order an Adobe product platform swap or language swap

  • How do I re-download Photoshop CS5?

Right, here is the problem - installation media is corrupted and I need to re-install Photoshop CS5 on my Mac.
I have the valid serial number (as registered) but cannot find out where I can download Photoshop CS5 (unless I hit the torrent sites! - which I don't want to do).  Where do I go to download the CS5 software legitmately?
I have had a look and it is not showing up in my "order history"
    Thanks in advance.

Tessa, if you orignially got CS5 from the Adobe online store, you can log on again, and the link will be there in your Orders page.  I don't know how it works if you started with the DVD, but John sounds like he has sorted you out.
Just checked, and that's a handy page John.  It is now bookmarked on my system, and I'll wager by most other people who view this thread.
I'll add a me-too for backing up.  I lost a raid0 array a month or so ago, and it had hundreds of hours of video editing on it.  (time invested - not edited video)  I had a nearly up to date copy on another drive, but I also run Shadow Protect which can be set to record changes to the backed up drives every 15 minutes as a background process.  You can also make a virtual copy of your boot drive, and a bood CD that will have you up and running five minutes after a complete boot drive failure.  One of the best $100 I ever spent.  You don't even know it is there until you need it.

Currently using Photoshop CS5, but with a replacement computer and upgrade to Yosemite, keep being told I need to install the legacy Java 6. Currently, Photoshop won't even open. I absolutely do not want to subscribe, don't want to mess with the cloud, just want to buy an upgrade to something that will run for a while longer. I don't care about Lightroom, Bridge, Illustrator, etc.; most of those I've deleted over the years. But I do use Photoshop - or would if it would still run. What options do I have?

This is the java you need for photoshop cs5 to work on mac os x 10.10 Yosemite
    https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572?locale=en_US
It's also possible you may have to reinstall photoshop cs5 even after installing the above java, because sometimes the upgrade to mac os x 10.10 messes up the photoshop cs5 installation.
You can download photoshop cs5 from here if you don't already have the install media.

  • Installing Photoshop CS5

So, I have had Photoshop CS5 for a few years and I now have a new laptop.  I wanted to move the program to my new laptop, but I don't have the disc or anything.  I put all the files on a flash drive and then moved them to my new laptop, but I still don't know how to install it.  I consulted the munual and it suggested I look for "set-up.exe" however that is no where to be found.  Is there any way I can get Photoshop CS5 to my new laptop?
    Thanks.

You can download the CS5 installers here.

  • Downloading and reinstalling Photoshop CS5 Extended?

I had to uninstall Photoshop CS5 Extended because it was missing files. I have the original installation disk and my serial number but my disk drive on my computer is broken (or the installation disk may be corrupted). Is there a way I can download Photoshop CS5 Extended, install it and then add my serial number? TIA
    Regards

if you follow all 7 steps you can directly download a trial here:  http://prodesigntools.com/all-adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html
and activate with your serial number.
if you have a problem downloading, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
the most common error involves failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).

I don't do Macs, but don't you have a restore option wit the trash can?  Otherwise I expect you are going to need to reinstall
    https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-product-downloads.html
It may well think it is still activated, but if not, you are going to have to phone customer support and explain what happened, and they will reset your activation.

    Thank you very much.

    Good day!
    What is your OS?
    Can you open the images?
    Boilerplate-text:
Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by pressing command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift while starting Photoshop until the appropriate dialog appears after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, cleaning caches, font validation, etc.)

YES never upgrade any more in these new CROOKED versions of Photoshop  CS5 do not loose your money ,keep the old ones which were not crooked ! i just throw mine in the trash can and i advise all of you in the internet to do the same, Never buy any more these new crooked adobe products ,i am sending of course the same message on many web site like face book etc etc ! WHY .because  after  downloading all the new Drivers for EPSON PRINTERS WIDE FORMATS like the version 8,19 (12 april 2010) for the GREAT 9600 PRO and others drivers for example the Great 2100 EPSON. ------
----PHOTOSHOP CS5--- IS THE ONLY SOFTWARE (program) WHICH REFUSES TO PRINT ! WHEN YOU TRY TO PRINT  YOU WILL SEE THAT WHEN YOU GO IN -MISE EN PAGE : PRINT SETTING-- THE ORDERS actions  --COLOR MANAGEMENT---PAPER CONFIGURATION---ROLL PAPER OPTION-- ARE ALL BLOCK ! ERASE! WITH A BLACK LINE  ! and you just have TO THROW YOUR NEW VERSION AND YOUR MONEY IN THE GARBAGE! not only the money but the time lost and the frustation SO GO AWAY FROM ALL THE ADOBE PRODUCTS UNTIL THEY HAVE THE COURTESY TO CORRECT THEIR MISTAKES AS WE ARE HERE IN THE SITUATION WERE YOU DO BUY A CAR AND THE CAR IS BROKEN , and refuse to do what you did buy it for     CARS which have problems go back to the factory and until the problem is resolve every body is advice to not buy the car ,often also when people make a lot of advertising on a new product which finely do not deliver it is call "LYING ADVERTISING " i am to old to take that case to court unfortunately but i would be young and living in the USA i would do it with pleasure for all the headaches frustrations and finely failures  without talking about money ,this new version of CS5 gave to me !   jean sobieski

As indicated in the previous thread you tried to start, you seem incapable of properly resetting and installing the print drivers and as a result your print driver is not properly installed. If you have the advanced color management options with a line through them, then the most current driver and associated files properly installed.
In the previous thread, you were told exactly what to do to fix your system. Apparently you have still failed to follow the instructions. Other people are able to print properly using the 76/9600 and 2100 printers. Have you wondered why? Are you interested in fixing your system or are you simply hellbent on ranting and raving?

  • I can't open .avi files in Photoshop CS5

I used to be able to open .avi files in Photoshop just fine, but I’ve just tried opening one again after a couple of months and I can’t. It’s just black blankness. I have no problem with .mp4 files, but unfortunately, most of the videos I'm trying to make gifs out of are in .avi format.
Is it because I've updated QuickTime? Or is it that Adobe CS no longer supports .avi files? It says here that Photoshop CS6 supports the .avi format.
    My specs:
    OS X Mavericks 10.9.4
    Photoshop CS5.1
