Travel Adapter Over Heating to 121 degrees F.

Hello, has anyone else had problems with an HP EnVY overheating?  The first machine I ordered burned up in 20 days.  So 42 days later I recieved another.   Now, the power adapter is overheating to 128 degrees.    It is called "Travel Adapter" HP part # 6348-002 and Stamped "Replace with Part # 644240-001.   The computer shipped to me with the travel adapter.  It is only 12 days old.  .......Bother!
This question was solved.

I just recieved a call from HP customer service, they are sending  me a new charger  to fix the overheating issue.
WOW....I have been working with computers for a very long time, and this is a first.  A phone call to ME, asking if they could help.
This is GREAT!.   Well Done HP!

The travel adapter gets so hot you can't touch it in less than an hour. Using it indoors at room temp about 78degrees. The laptop itself has always run hot would it be related? I am hesitant to just buy a new one if it is going to be the same way. Is this a common?

  • Why is the magasafe power adapter over heating

Why is my magasafe power adapter over heating?  I can bearly hold it and think it will cause a fire.

No clue.  Could be any number of reasons why.
If you are still under warranty, call Apple Care.  Otherwise,
take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

  • Travel Adapter for 130W T530

    Hello,
I have a T530, and I'm stuck for what I need to do to get a travel (airplane+car cigarette lighter+AC) power adapter for this system.  It has the enhanced graphics, so I use the 130W adapter.
I have the 90W travel adapter from my T500, and I tried connecting it with Power Manager set to "airplane seat power mode" so that it wouldn't blow any fuses and will reduce its power draw.  However, when I connect the 90W adapter, it runs off battery anyway and hover over Power Manager shows a tooltip saying that "this adapter does not provide enough power".  So, I disconnected, turned off Airplane Seat Mode, and reconnected, and it did run for a few seconds but sure enough blew the 3A fuse in my car.
    So, two questions:
    1) Anyone know where I can find a 130W+ travel poewr adapter?  I want to have 130W when I'm on AC mains, and the option to use DC power, without having to carry two separate bricks.  So I need the 130W equivalent of the old travel adapter.  I don't even see a 3rd party option like iGo at this wattage.
    2) Anyone know how to get a 130W T530 to stop blowing fuses?  If I have 3A@12V, that is up to 36W available.  I noitice right now while disconnected from a charger that my laptop is pulling 1.4A @ 11.57V from the battery = 16W, so it should definitely be possible to run off of my car's cigarette lighter without blowing the fuse.  I was hoping the "airplane seat mode" setting would do the trick... but apparently not.
One note... hardwiring an AC inverter to the battery/alternator with an 11A fuse is not an option for me since I am always in a rental car when using my laptop.

I have a 15A fuse for all 3 cigarette lighter outlets together.  My 2-way splitter in one of them has a 3A fuse in each leg, which I am holding, that is now blown after  my experiment.  Be that as it may, my question is whether there exists a travel power adapter that is capable of outputting 130W when connected to AC mains and also running at any wattage (maybe 130W or lower) when connected to car DC power.  Can anyone help with that?

  • Travel adapter or power converter?

Do I need a power converter to charge my BlackBerry Bold and PlayBook in Holland or is a travel adapter enough?

    Hi there!
Well, since you haven't said where you are originating from, it's pretty tough for anyone to know. I know that with my US-based charger, an adapter is all that I've needed and I've taken it all over the world.
    Good luck!

  • HT1665 I have a World Travel Adapter Kit for use with my iPad. can the plug adapters also be used on the Mac Pro charger to charge up my laptop when travelling or is a special converter needed.M

I have a World Travel Adapter Kit for use with my iPad when traveling abroad. I know this charger can be used on an iPhone, can the plug adapters also be used with the charger of a Mac Book Pro or is a special converter required?

Is there any concern about the type of travel adapter kit? For instance, some instructions indicate they are for heat creating appliances (hairdryers, curling irons, etc.). I bought such a set, but do they present any issues if used with more delicate electronic circuitry (for iPads, iPods, or with camera battery chargers). I am leaving for the UK on Monday and need to get it right - are they too strong for the Apple products if they are not to be used with computers? What other options are out there?

  • Visting Peru,Does the World Travel Adapter Kit work there/need converter??

I'm planning to go to Peru for the summer, I want to take my macbook and I'm also thinking of buying an ipod 30g video. I know the voltage is 220, but the thing is this my first time I'll be travelling with my macbook being that it cost me soo much money.
Will the World Travel Adapter Kit work there and Do I need to buy a converter?? Because on the packaging it says all the countries that it'll work in and there's no mention of South America and I've asked at the Apple Store and they basically said "it should" but I just want to be certain. Do I need to get anything else? I don't plan to go online over there so , Do I need to buy a Travel Surge Protector??
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

If you have an iPod power supply (AC adapter) these are also automatically
switching or auto-detecting, so all you'd need is the little end part from the
world travel kit. If the design of the iPod AC Adapter is like the ones I've
seen (standard Apple unit) which looks like the MacBook's, you can take the
same adapter piece and use it in place of the other adapter's AC - in
part. The little end part of the adapter (which you can take off to put on
the long AC - in power cord, instead of the prong/plug on adapter part)
comes off when proper effort is applied to it. It is not an easy to come off
item, but you can carefully slide/push the piece to get it off.
[There are third-party chargers for iPods but they may not be
auto-switching or support both 110/220 volts. You can charge
an iPod from the USB cable, but it would then be using the
computer's power. If the portable is fully charged and you
have access to an AC power source, you could easily charge
an iPod from the computer without discharging the MacBook.]
If you have the long AC power cord that goes with the MacBook's AC adapter,
you can see how the modular plug usually shipped on the power adapter is
on the inside; this may help in understanding how it comes off. The world
power adapter kit (from Apple) has matching parts to utilize this feature.
I use a long power cord all the time on my iBook's power adapter; and
the part is identical in how it comes off, as the iPod's standard (cube)
AC power adapter. If nothing else and you are in a travel store, such as
one would find in a larger airport, ask about those single power plugs
that are used for electronics which auto-detect and switch; these are
not real "power converters" since they only need to physically match
the power utility's shape, not change the power from 110/220 or back.
They are the most basic adapters because do not change the electricity,
your Apple product will truly do the adapting to the regional AC power.
[If the end of the iPod adapter is not like that of your MacBook's
(they are like the PowerBook/iBookG4 most exactly) you may
need to check the World kit from Apple as it would likely have
the correct parts; should they have a subtle difference in fit.]
(With few exceptions. There are some products that require a regional
power supply; those are listed in the Apple Support power adapter page.)
•Apple authorized resellers have Apple iPod chargers; so
a visit to them may be necessary to get the correct one
for your iPod. Be sure to look or ask about traveling and
if the unit you find is capable of auto-detecting and running
on 110 and 220 with only a prong adapter kit.

    Resolving Issues
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
    Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge for up to 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue is persists, please contact Apple Support.

What work traveler adapter do you use when traveling in India?

I didn't mean my reply as a rant! Just welcoming another disabled guy on board. Yes, I do budget - and have enough left over to buy software and hardware for my Mac. The 'government' doesn't pay my electric bill - I do - and I pay $460 a month in rent - and I live in a very nice, unsubsidized handicapped and wheelchair accessible apartment.
You really need to work on your anger issues - and although I, too, believe in an afterlife, I can be happy in life just as I am: I've no legs, so getting around is difficult for me but I don't let that stop me from enjoying life.
I've no family remaining save for an uncle and aunt and some cousins - and they're all in Texas. And, although I, too, was "dumped" by most of my middle-class friends, I have a handful of friends on whom I rely.
I don't believe that suicide is a way out, either. My own step-mother blew her brains out after she had a stroke. She was on massive amounts of antidepressants but she took her own life. That way is not for me.
Loosen up and open up a little - I'm sure that you can find something in common even if it's with others who may be disabled. I do some volunteer work with a couple of agencies in town and find that keeps me going - and keeps me from feeling sorry for myself.

  • IMac G5 over heating?

I have been trying to burn a DVD using toast and every time I try my Mac restarts itself. I think it might be over heating. Looking at the temperatures using the iStat Nano widget my CPU regularly reaches 66 degrees but I don't know at which point my Mac restarts as I;m always out of the room. Everything else is working fine. I have burned DVD's before and not had this problem. Any ideas what I should do? Could it be dusty inside?
    Julian,

    Hi,
You could check logs in Console to track down the cause of the spontaneous restarts.
Also, it could be related to a power supply issue. There are a couple of Repair Extension Programs for the iMac G5, related to Power Supply Issues, and Video and Power Issues.
    Good Luck.

  • Airport Express over heating

Has anyone had issues with their Airport Express over heating and turning off?  This has been happening to me for the last two weeks.  It works for a few days, then suddenly goes dark.  I have to unplug it from the wall for about 5 minutes and then it starts right up again.
    Thanks!

    Hi gang,
Tesserax has supplied accurate and valuable information.  I'd like to add a few additional "food for thought" comments.  The Airport Express is essentially a radio tranceiver, meaning that it switches back and forth between its transmitting mode and receiving mode.  The majority of the heat is generated  when the unit is in the transmit mode.  Some applications such as streaming videos, especially movies, and using i-tunes to broadcast music from a computer to your stereo, will cause the heat stress to rise significantly.  The weather in my area is creating temps of 84 degrees F, and high humidity.  On days like this, I always turn on the fan near my Airport EX. and crank it up.  This could possibly help the situation you're dealing with.
My version of airport software 7.6.1 has the ability to adjust the transmitter power output to different levels from 100% on down.  Of course turning the output level down will ease the stress on the  airport, but will weaken the signal as well.

  • HT4341 from the apple travel adapter kit what adapter do you use for thailand

from the apple travel adapter kit what adapter do i use for thailand

I've used Apple a few times in the past for 4x6s (with iPhoto) and was really happy with the quality. There are other things about the service that frustrate me though. The shipping time was all over the place. Sometimes it would only take a week or two, other times over a month. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get Order Prints to work for iPhoto or Aperture anymore, so I'm looking for an alternative as well. Something that has an Aperture plug-in would be extra cool, if that exists...
In the meantime, I've just been printing at Wal-Mart or the local camera shop (when they have a sale). The quality isn't as good -- less definition in the prints -- but the order is always ready to pick-up within a couple of hours at the most (which beats getting no prints at all through Apple's service). And the nice thing is, the pictures are printed and boxed in the order they're uploaded. None of this "we print the smallest files first, as they download" silliness from Apple that causes you to have to sort all of your photos again while referencing the images on your computer if you want to put them in chronological order. Does Apple really expect me to believe their printers are just waiting to print my order the split second each image is downloaded? There's no staging process involved whatsoever? Give me a break. I love Apple, but things like this are so backwards from the whole "it just works" mantra that they love to use. Sorry for the rant! I'm a little frustrated with Apple's printing services at the moment (as I'm sure you can tell).
Anyway, you can always give your local Wal-mart a shot. Just do a small order and see how it turns out.

  • Hp Dv6-1211AX over heating problem

    Hai ,
I purchased hp pavilon Dv6-1211AX in the 8 months ago.Now my laptop getting over heat even i dont run any applications.
can you please help me to fix this.?
does coold pad helps me ?

I had the same overheating problem as well. I had the HP technician apply a layer of Shin-etsu thermal paste to the graphics card, chipset and processor, had the heat sink fan assembly cleaned, and removed the sponges on the sides of the heatsink to increase ventilation.
Try doing the same to your computer  and the temperatures will be back to normal. The temperatures in mine have stabilized to 47 degrees in idle (high performance profile) and reaches a max of 79 degrees while gaming and rendering.
While applying the thermal paste, make sure the technician spreads it evenly and then clips on the heat sink. A curing time for the thermal paste is required to evenly spread out on the processor, so give it about a weeks time for it to get set and then start playing.
Try changing the operating system from Vista to Windows 7 64 bit. It helps in increasing the processing speed, lowering CPU and GPU temps and increases performance on the whole.

  • X505 Q890 Over heating?!?! help please

it completely shut down the other day. I tried to turn it back on but it wouldnt boot past the bios untill the comp was cool to the touch. Once it did i didnt have any error messages when windows booted up(wth?!?!) I downloaded something off line to view temps. below is a screen shot of it after playing WoW for under an hour. I know 212 degrees is when water boils so that is obviously a problem. I intend to contact Customer Support later in the day. I was just wondering if anything else is to high that i can mention to who ever i talk to over the phone.
PS.. since ive had it the right side vent(above the key board) never even comes close to putting out the heat the left side does. Im not sure if that is good or bad? Also i run 60 FPS in game i always figured for 2 grand it would be higher then that(if not thats no biggie just curious since im here lol)
    http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll165/absolutalbert/screenshotofdegrees.png

I got it in August of 2010. I called the peeps at the store that Toshiba recommended I call. They told me yes its covered under warranty. Which I knew because I purchased an extra year of it lol. They also said if its not hard ware related than its not under warranty. id than have to pay $90.00 for them to remove dust and dirt from the fans because that's the most probable cause of over heating. I confirmed both fans are working(I hear no squeaky noises coming from either side or any fan strain) So im sure there is a little dust and dirt but I highly doubt its causing the cores to run 210 degrees when the fans seem to be working fine. I then asked if there could be something wrong with the heat sink. He said that would be a highly unlikely situation. I also asked the guy if I read him off some temperatures(from my above screen shot) if he could identify a possible cause. He said your asking me to diagnose a computer over the phone with out seeing it. Is there anyone out there that can help like what should I do?
