Travel Dock Zen Micro Question

Hello everyone,
For my holiday I want to buy a set of speakers for my Zen Micro 6GB. I looked around a little bit and found a couple of speakersets. One of them is the Zen Micro traveldock. It looks great and its very clever made with all its features. But now I have some questions about this:
1. Can I charge my Zen Micro with the Travel Dock without the USB-connection, so only the DC-connector ? Because in the description at the Dutch Creatice site it`s not very clear, there they wrote down that you can charge the Zen when you connect the travel dock to a USB-device, so i`m not sure you can do it with the DC only ?
2. Is the soundquality good ? Well, everybody has something different to say about it, but in general you can say something about it. Is it bad, normal or good ? And is the volume power a little bit good ?

My Micro is playing in the TravelDock as I write this. And I can confirm that the lid does close with the Micro in place. The unit has a good sound. I've got it full volume right now. There is no deep bass, but again, these are .5 inch speakers. I will try a powered subwoofer I have with the unit later. There is enough power to fill an average size room or to enjoy the music outside. There is a switch that alters the sound field from narrow to wide. The effect is noticeable if you are listening for it. The connection between the TravelDock and the Micro is easy to make and the Micro sits very securely in the dock. The lid works as desktop stand as well and is held in place by two rubber grippers that are rather stiff and needed some coaxing to work. I will expect these will loosen with use. The documentation on Creative's website says the TravelDock doesn't include batteries, but mine did have 4 Eveready alkalines in the box.
Not too many people have seen the MicroPhoto yet, but apparently it is not exactly the same size as the Micro. There is a small rubber self adhesi've spacer included with the TravelDock. The manual says this small spacer needs to be inserted into the dock if you plug in a MicroPhoto, So, I'm guessing the MicroPhoto is a few millimeters thinner than the Micro. Is that right?

  • Travel Dock Zen Micro IS Availa

While wondering about Best Buy today, I discovered the Travel Dock Zen Micro in stock. Just 30 days ago Creative told me they didn't know when this product would be available in the US. One reason for the delay may have been the MicroPhoto because the box shows both Micro and MicroPhoto being used in the device. Best Buy's price is $29 US.
An earlier discussion in another thread claimed the Travel Dock lid (which doubles as the desktop stand) could not be closed with the Micro in place. The box clearly shows that it can, so I will be checking it out later today. The box also lists an accessory for the unit I hadn't heard of before, a matching powered subwoofer.

  • Travel Dock Zen Micro volumn issue

I just got the Travel Dock and I put my Zen Micro in but it isn't very loud.
I have the volumn on the docking station all the way up and the volumn on the Micro all the way up, but it isn't very loud. Any suggestions?

I also have the same issue. I can hear the background music and backup vocals, but the main vocals are really, really quiet - like the singer has locked themselves in the bathroom and the rest of the band are in the room with me!? Plus, the volume will not go up very high. Does anyone have any ideas about this?

  • Travel Dock Zen Micro

Just wondering if the was available in Australia? Would luv to get my hands on one and if not from Australia, where and how can I get one? Do any of the other speaker systems have similar features as the , such as 2-in- docking and charging station, battery and/or mains power source and IR remote control. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
    Cheers Willo

For the first question, I think it charges on the DC-Connector, I have read the explanation and no usb is mentioned (at least I didn't see one).
And for the 2nd question, I think that some people say the volume is not so good. They say that it would be good for small rooms and such not big places. They also mentioned that if you put the volume really high, then it could damage the speakers.
Hope that helped a little. Make a wise decision! :P

  • Newbie here...some Zen Micro questions/suggestio

Hi im new Okay i have some questions for y'all:
Will having only usb .0 work for a zen micro? I have a n200 and it works fine, just wondering if the micro will work on my computer too.
Yes, I recently ordered a Zen Micro. Unfortunately that was before i came to this forum, and after witnessing that massi've 08 page headphone jack thread, I'm getting very worried. Are there any people out there who are satisfied with the micro? If you have problems, don't reply with a MICRO SUX0RZ **bleep** THE MICRO. I need some feel-good stories!
And one quick final clarification about the headphone jack problems: Is the problem actually fixed in the later shipments of the zen micro? I'm pretty sure mine will be a later model since it's not going to come with a wall charger, but I haven't been able to find a definiti've answer for it. Is there anyone out there who've never had this problem? again, that stupid 08page thread
    Thanks!

got my zen micro5gb as a gift, loaded this thing with everything indie... started to notice if i moved a little bit the music would cut out and it would be music distorted, without the vocal, another movement and its all back. so i figured it was bad headphones, the zen ones hurt youre ears. so i bought jvc buds $22 nyc bargain, they work great, then suddenly same thing..in and out so i got a rma and sent it , next thing i know now i have a 6 gig nice right, i charge it up and here i am sitting here the darn thing isnt being connected by my computer, i cant load music on or anything, so im figuring buy another usb. - 2.0 cord. i've already written a letter in, i dont see why there isnt 24hr help, alot of products to offer and not enough help. 2 days for an email reply, ha.. i can buy a new one in that time. -mc

  • Zen Micro questions and concer

Hello, I've had my Zen Micro 5gb for about 2 /2 months now and while some of these problems have been around for a while I thought I'd ask on here to see if anyone else has these problems as well. First of all I have the new firmware ..0 installed it right after buying the player. Now for my concerns,
) I've noticed that I only get about 8ish hours of playback on a full charge (which is roughly about 2 hours to go from bar to full) volume between 0 and 5 and used for periods of usually an hour at a time. Most of the songs on the player are CD quality bit rate (28 is it's) and my question is, is this normal? The quoted time is up to 2 hours battery life.
    2) I have the idle shutoff time set to 5 min of inactivity and the sleep timer at 30 min. The problem that I've found and I don't know if this is how it's supposed to be, which seems strange if it is, is that when I turn on the power (and is where I want it to be so I don't adjust it at all) it shuts off after 5 minutes which I find annoying. But, I've also found that even if I move through some screens and change the song and set it back in my pocket, it still shuts off after 5 minutes, only when I adjust the volume (I still need to test this to make sure that that's what it is) does it play for the full 30 min.
    3) When the Micro starts up (while not on the 4hr standby there is?), so when it goes through the full Creative and Zen Micro screens at the startup there is a glitch where the "Zen Micro" screen stays on for up to a full 0 seconds and about 5 seconds into it there is a box halfway up the 'ZEN' where the letters don't show, I don't really know how else to explain it but I'll try "drawing it".

(It looks good writing it out, but alas the formatting doesn't seem to work posting it)
After about 5 seconds (it varies) it changes from the first to the second for about another 5 seconds. The only thing is, it does this every so often and is not consistent as to when it does it. The music starts playing while it's doing this as well. I'm also wondering if the Creative screen (without the copyright stuff) is supposed to last for a full 0 seconds like it seems to be now as that seems quite excessi've but I am not sure what the 'norm' is.
    4) I've had it freeze on the "Shutting down..." screen but taking the battery out and replacing it seems to fix that, as others have discussed.
If someone could fill me in on what's "normal" or not and your own experiences with this it would be greatly appreciate. Thank you in advance.Message Edited by Guildenstern87 on -06-2005 :57 PMMessage Edited by Guildenstern87 on -06-2005 :57 PM

. The 2 hours is based on using the player playing 28kbit/s MP3s continuously. Anything you do to the player in terms of frequent skipping of tracks, higher bit-rate tracks, downloading/uploading etc. will shorten the battery life. See the FAQ post for lots on this.
    2. Known bug.
    3. It just seems to be some innocuous screen write bug. It doesn't seem to do any harm other than look naff.
    4. Mine doesn't freeze on shutting down. Perhaps try a disk cleanup from rescue mode?

  • [Zen Micro]Questions about the Firmw

    Hello,
I have some questions about the firmware of the Zen Micro
. Can I use the Zen Micro without any Software (MediaSource?) on my PC (winXP) when im using the Firmware Creative Zen Micro *PlaysForSure/MTP Firmware 2.00.2 ? This means that i copy my Music only by drag&drop from the Explorer after my Computer has detected the Zen Micro as a Removable Disk!
    2. I know that the Zen Micro has two parts with the Normal Firmware. The "Removable Disk" Part and the "Playable" Part which can only used by the Software! But what happens if my . question is right. How can i seperate this two parts?
    Thanks for answers

I don't have the 2.x firmware, but I think I'm correct in saying this :
with the 2.x firmware, your Micro becomes an MTP compatible device, which can be recognized on PCs having an MTP compatible OS (operating system). For the moment, the only OS that fits the bill to my knowledge, is Win XP with Windows Media Player 0. In this combination of MTP device + MTP OS, you don't need to install other drivers, and you can do drag and drop
BUT ! The 2.x firmware doesn't make your device a "removable disc" in the traditional sense of the word. It doesn't become a file system, like a USB memory stick.
I hope I was clear enough to see the difference :-)Message Edited by fred_be9300 on 04-03-2005 02:52 AM

  • Zen Micro question - please h

Ok, so I received my Zen Micro 5g in the mail today, and I can't seem to install the software onto my computer. I have Windows XP, and even after closing all the applications and making sure I'm logged on as an administrator, it still won't work. Every time I insert the disk, the Creative screen comes up, but when I go to press Next, the DemoShield player closes and says that it has encountered a problem and must be closed. Does anyone know what this problem might be and is there any way I can fix it's Thanks.

Got Quicktime 7 installed? See this thread.
You can also download the required drivers and software from the downloads page, but make sure Quicktime 7 is updated.

  • Docking Zen Micro in a

I recently bought a zm and already have it hooked up to my car through the rca jacks of my cd player. The music plays great, but constantly having to reach for my zm to change songs is getting tiresome. What docks or holdsters fit it and would let me stick it on my dash or console? Thanks.

There could be cup holders that work uni'versally. It's like a cellphone holder in a car, you can pull that clip far enough to fit the Micro. The only problem is that I don't know any docks out there.
Or you can probably just get the remote.

  • Zen micro can not be operate if it is connected to Travel Dock for Zen

I just bought Travel Dock for Zen Micro. I have 2 problems. Any body can help me please? 1. When I connect the Zen Micro to Travel dock. Any one has the same problem? How to overcome it? Thanks before for your helping and information

hey Jason thx for reply well it's weird like I said but whenever I downloaded the firmware ver. 2..0 or something the newest one it just said that the Player/USB was not hooked up to the computer when it actually was and it doesn't play any music it goes straight to restore mode. tell me if you need to know a little bit more thx

  • Creative Zen Travel Dock problems

I only got my travel dock at Christmas and have used it a massive 3 times. It's broken already. It plays the bass no problem but all the "front" music and vocals are tinny and very quiet. It hasn't been dropped, mishandled or anything like that and has always been connected in accordance with the instructions. When turning it on, it just charges the zen micro player and the only way I can get it to play music is by connecting the player when it is on and playing which is what you're not supposed to do.

    Nuevarine,
Is the connection pushed all the way in? Have you tried a different set of earphones or headphones yet?

  • Zen micro travel d

does anybody own the travel dock for the zen micro or zen micro photo
do you like it i am thinking about getting one but have heard somethings
about how they don't sound very good.
Please reply if you have one i want to know what you think

The 20gb is slightly bigger so I doubt it will fit, unless the Micro's dock is made slightly bigger but fits both in.

  • Zen Micro - Dock Prob

Ok, so I connect up my micro to the computer. All is well,it is recognised on device manager. I then go on Zen Micro Media Explorer and on the player, it keeps changing from the docked mode screen to normal playing mode... On the Media Explorer all the buttons are disabled and it says 'device is not connected'. I try go on Creative Media Source Organiser or Creative Media Source Player, and the Micro is listed on the left, but when I click on it an error message pops up saying "creative mediasource player has encoutered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the incnvinience."It doesn't show any specific error code or anything, but I have tried reinstalling the softwares, but no luck. The software itself is very unstable on my computer for some reason which I am unsure of, my computer can handle much more power demanding software such as Photoshop and other media programs, but MediaSource Player seems to run really slow, etc.Any suggestions anyone?rich
