Travel Theme fault on 24" iMac

In iDVD when I use the Travel Theme supplied in iDVD 6 the Main Page in the theme has an issue. The dotted red line that should draw on the menu in circles does not appear when I have the DVD set to PAL, but it does in NTSC.
I have checked on my MacBook and it is fine on there.
I have also reinstalled iDVD and still no change.
Does anyone else see this?
Ian

Hi Ian:
I really have no idea what is up with that. But, I would definitely try deleting the iDVD preference files before I tried anything drastic.
Locate a file named com.apple.iDVD.plist and get rid of it. iDVD will create a new one the next time it runs. Empty the trash and run a permissions repair with the disk utility.

its 1000s of songs . Originally I used the time machine as a networked drive but it can cause the songs to pause so I'm thinking it would be better to have the songs on the internal imac drive
how can I move the songs so I can re-open iTunes and the playlists (with plays in the 100s) find the song in the new place?

Do you mean on your Time Machine backup drive? Or are you actually accessing the backup? In either case you shouldn't be doing that. If you haven't space on your HDD to store the iTunes Library, then at least put it on another external drive.
Since you did not provide any information about what's actually "on my time machine," here's what you would do. The entire iTunes folder should be stored in the /Home/Music/ folder. Within that folder you would have three folders: imm Media, iTunes, and iTunes Playlists.

No I don't have another computer. I was thinking initially I would put them on my ipad but since I don't have enough gb maybe I can store them in some cloud thing? Sorry am a bit of a Luddite when it comes to all this. I just need to have them stored someplace and accessible to play when I need to. Thanks for your help.

  • Can't locate audio file for iDVD 6 Travel Theme

I have looked under Library/Application Support/iDVD/Installed Themes I find only folders for iDVD3, iDVD 4 and iDVD 5. No iDVD 6 there at all! I know I have iDVD 6 installed since I loaded iLife06 last week myself and can both see and hear the Travel Theme graphic and audio theme. Where can it be?
Once I find it, how do I get it into iTunes?

Yes! Tonight is the first time I've opened iDVD and that theme started playing. What a marvellous theme it is; it inspires me, sort of sets the level for what I should be shooting for in my scores. I love this kind of music.
And It Should Be Credited to the Appropriate Artist, Apple folks!
There is no mention anywhere of who wrote it (or any of the other audio tracks on any of the sample Themes). The clip seems to be called TravelCards, on which a google search produced information on the composer Simon Fisher Turner (aka SFT), with a CD called Travelcard, but I'll be damned if I can find a downloadable clip to listen to! Some of his stuff is in iTunes, but not this album. From the sound of his other work, however, it could be him. It also bears a bit of resemblance to the work of another British artist, Karl Jenkins (the "Diamond Music" composer, also a founding member of Soft Machine, one of the seminal bands from the 70's).
Whoever it is, I have listened to the sampled phrase over and over and over as it loops in my iDVD window beneath this one... and I haven't gotten tired of it yet! Please if anyone has any idea at all who wrote this, I'd love to know and hear more. Thanks!

  • Travel theme - best settings for drop in maps

I am using the Travel theme and really like the idea of putting custom maps into the opening and chapter markers in the themes. However, I am trying to work out the best 'settings' for maps so they show up best once filtered into the background.
For example, when I drop maps (that are predominantly white) into the opening credits they have made the overall shade of the background lighter (more cream than sepia) so you can clearly see their edges. Also, the contrast gets cut a lot so the maps look a lot more washed out than, for example, the map of Africa that is permanently in the opening credits.
Has anyone experimented with this and can they make any suggestions for what works best in terms of blending in with the pre-existing maps or otherwise looking the best once it is filtered by the theme?

Well - the best I found was using Mapquest maps. Guess that's the best...

  • Very pleased w/ "Travel Theme"  iPhoto Large Hardback Book

Yes, I am very pleased. Used iPhoto 5.0.4. Transmitted via a Disney (Orlando) Hotel ethernet at 3am. The connection was slow and I awoke to a dead battery...Yet very successful. No problems. Excellent quality of paper, printing, binding and packaging. Shipping was from California.
I had set DPI to 300 w/ prefsetter. I changed several fonts w/o problems.
I did not know about the potential page number option problem in the Travel Theme. (I did not even know there was an option.) I had several full bleeds. Again, no problems.
Maybe the bugs are out now. I hope no one hesitates to use the Travel theme.

  • Travel Theme Drop Zones

I burned a dvd with the travel theme main menu, and had about 5 or 6 drop zones. Filled these in with pictures (2 were background pictures), looked great. Just one month later, and no change in software, I am now creating another dvd, but this same travel theme now only has one drop zone. A lot less motion as well. I know I didn't make up the previous theme. I can play it back on my DVD. Any ideas how I get to the longer, more-drop-zone Travel theme menu? Thank you!

Thanks for the reply. I wish I could show the larger drop-zone travel main menu to everyone. About 4 photos go by, with the red dotted lines swirling around, and then a stamp comes down to ink a passport stamp next to the final photo. This is bizarre: I have no idea why I can't find it just a month or two later. Does everyone else have a 1 drop-zone travel main menu?

  • I am planning to buy an iMac and I already own an iPAD with keynote and pages in it.  Can I transfer them to my new iMac or do I have to buy them again?

Hi, I am new to iMAC and I am planning to get one soon.  I own an iPAD with Keynote and Pagen in it among other  App and I was wondering if I can transfer those to my new iMac or do I have to buy them again for my new Mac
    Thanks

It may be that if you already bought the iPad versions using your iTunes account, you get a discount on the Mac versions? (That's just a guess - it applies with FileMaker, but I don't know if it does with iWork).
There is no discount for one version of the iWork apps due to owning the other version.

  • IMovie HD doesn't load themes on my new iMac running latest OSX Lion.

I just bought a new iMac (27inch 8GB) with the latest OSX Lion version.
On my previous computer an iMac (24inch 2007) with Snow Leopard, I had iMovie HD working well. I have installed it on my new iMac but the themes aren't loading for some reason... Not sure why not.
    Has anyone else experience this?
    Thanks

I've been having the same issue, but have just discovered something on my own that hasn't been pointed out in any of the forums I've visited.  In what I thought would be a vain attempt to help myself, I went to System Preferences, Users & Groups, and then clicked on Login Items.  I discovered that one of the Items that was listed to open automatically upon login was iTunes Helper and that there was an exclamation point beside it indicating that it was incompatible.  I simply deleted that item and now I don't have the situation you described and my wireless is connected.  Hope this helps!

  • I lost my bookmarks in safari on my iMac after I deleted them on my iPad.  Can I get them back on my iMac?

I noticed my iPad and iMac synced Safari bookmark lists after an upgrde to my iPad OS.  I deleted some of the bookmark folders off my iPad, but now they are gone from my iMac Safari as well.  Any way I can restore them?  I looked at earlier posts, but could not find the bookmarks.plist file to back up from Time Machine.  Any ideas?

    Hello:
Safari bookmarks are in your home folder (~).  ~library>safari.  If you have not found the library folder, do this:
from the Finder>Go while holding the option key down.

  • Moving my Final Cut Pro X events and projects to portable HDD, want to access them from both my iMac and MacBook Pro.

I recently moved my video files over to a portable HDD and performed a clean Lion installation on the iMac. Instead of moving my files back, I want to keep them on the portable HDD so that I can not only access them via the iMac but also on my MacBook Pro when I'm out of the house. How do I go about setting this up?

Simple as that? Thanks, guess it wasn't at complicated as I expected.

  • Google advised me to change my password. Did this on iMac. all works on iMac. no mail on iPad or iPhone even though I've rescinded them both to the iMac.  Any ideas please?

Google advised me to change my password, which I have done on my iMac.
Mail is now accessible on iMac.
However, can still not access mail on iPad or iPhone even though I've resynced them with iMac.
    Any ideas please?
    Thanks

Syncing with the Mac isn't going to do anything unless you synced the mail settings, and I'm not sure that you can do that any more with iTunes.
DId you try changing your password in the settings in the mail app? Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars>Your account name>Account>Account information. You also need to make sure that the password is set in the outgoing mail server settings.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

  • Cannot add icloud account to Contacts so all my icloud contacts are stuck on the cloud and I can't actually get them on my desktop imac

So all my devices have my contacts on them from my icloud account.  However on my desktop imac when I go to the Contact application there are none in there.  When I go to the preferences for contacts and try to add the icloud account I get through the login process of user account and password but then nothing else happens, no contacts get added to the imac.  Hmmm.  Now what?

Yes that is all correct.  Now, I think I know why it isn't working, I just don't know how to fix it.  Several years ago before icloud really was up and going I used dropbox to sync my contacts between my computers.  I suspect that is the problem.  WHen I open Contacts in Maverick on my imac it knows there are vcards somewhere and asks if I want to add them.  I click yes but then it sits there and does nothing.  There is no "Library" file that I can find in Maverick to move that old address book file back to the application support file.  That's what I have to figure out.

  • I bought the iWork apps for IOS, do I have to buy them again for my iMac?

I purchased the three Cloud-based iWork programs on my iPad2 with the hope that I could delete all traces of Microsoft from my life. They are on and update on both my iPad and iPhone. But the App Store on my iMac doesn't show that I purchased these programs. I really don't want to buy the same software twice just to test them to see if they can replace MS-Office. RIght now the IOS programs are a waste of money beause I won't use them unless I can also use them on my home and work iMacs.

Numbers is very powerful and works in a way that Excel doesn't, more like DTP with individual spreadsheets that talk to each other. If you get into it you can do things that Excel users can't even dream of.
Keynote IMHO is far superior to PowerPoint. Al Gore got an Oscar for his An Uncomfortable Truth done with Keynote.
Pages is not Word but will work with Word opening and saving with some incompatibilities. If you have to closely work with MsWord users, particularly PC users, then Pages may or may not suit you. However Pages has its own unique strengths that make many people drop MsWord all together. It has considerably more DTP abilities than Word and powerful internal spreadsheets and charts that are almost a match for Numbers.
You can buy them individually from the M.A.S. so if you have no use for the others, don't buy them.
At the moment you can not get Word for iOS, and it costs considerably more, so it is up to you to chose.

  • I backed up my iPhone and then did a sync and the iPhone is missing photos and so is my Mac and my phone will not let me delete them or on my iMac either.

So I bought a used Mac from my friend. I have the udated software and an iPhone 5 with the newest software. I have backed up my phone at least 4 times and all the photos and videos I need and wanted were on the phone. I did a backup and synce last night to itunes and now my phone has random old photos on it and I can't remove them or delete them. I also tried to restart iphoto and uninstall it and now it asking me to buy it for my Mac. I looked in the library for the photos and they are not there and used the preview option for it. Don't know how to recover or find them on my Mac. I have to have these photos for a company meeting and can't reproduce. Since the new updates with Mac and iPhone with the OS7 it has been really wierd and NOT working right. Also something to point out is that the events on my phone show up for the folders but they don't show up on my mac and didn't before. They only show up as dates but on my phone show as names that gave them. Help please! My presention is on the line. I've not been happy when I made the switch to everything apple.

I went back to iOS 7 and my backup file is restoring but when its done nothing is on my phone still and only takes 11-15 minutes to restore the backup instead of taking 25+ minutes like usual so I guess the backup is corrupted. How can I fix this?
