Travel Time in Calendar

I would like the Travel Time feature to offer me more than one location (Home) to travel to an appointment such as "office" - is it possible to add new starting locations?

I saw that calendar does this if you have already have an apointment on that day that includes a location. If you would have the appointment "Go to office" in your calandar this should actually work. Of course this is not really what you are looking for...

  • Travel time in calendar events

I've created a Calendar event and entered a location.  I see the map of the location in the event window.   When I go to select a travel time, it says "34 minutes from Work."    So, it's pulling my work address from Contacts.  Nice, but I'm not traveling to this event from work, I'm leaving from home.
I've been poking around for about an hour, and I can't see how to change this to use my home address as a starting point.  I've checked Contacts and confirmed that my home address is indeed identified as "Home."  It's the first address listed on my Contacts record.   I've looked at preferences for Maps, Calendar, and general system preferences, and don't see a way to set a default location, and there's nothing I can find in the editing of the event that lets me choose Home instead of Work.
Anyone know how to do this?
    Thanks!

    From Calendar's help:
To set your starting location, Calendar first looks for your location in any events that are up to three hours before this event. If Calendar doesn’t find a location, it uses your work address during work hours and your home address during other hours. (Your work hours are set in Calendar preferences using the “Day starts at” and “Day ends at” menus.) If your card in Contacts doesn’t have your addresses, Calendar uses your computer’s current location.

  • Set Start Position to Calculate Travel Time in Calendars

    Hi All,
I am quite impressed with the new traveling time feature in Calendars, however I cannot seem to get the best out of it.
    Is there a way to reset the start position for the calculations, I am thinking about the following senario;
Three appointments in the same day Appointment one calculates OK but appointment two calculates the start from the office and not the location of appointment one. Same thing happens with appointment three.
What I want to do is set the first appointment, calculate travelling time, set the second and calculate the traveling time from appointment one and then the same with appointment three.
The only way I have found to do this is to jump back and forward between calendar and maps and manually calculate like I used to do before this update.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

  • How do I set up travel time in Calendar?

I have set up several events and included the event address.  When I click on the travel time box, the gear spins for a second or two and quits.  I then have a pull down that allows me to select an arbitrary amount of time.  Also, there doesn't seem to be any way to look at directions which I thought was an advertised feature.
Thanks for any assistance/adcive to can

Roger make sure you have location services turned in in System Preferences / Privacy and make sure the Calendar is checked.
As a test, I turned mine off and then I saw the same problems on the Calendar as you described. Once your turn them on, you should be able to add locations and a map will appear at the bottom of the screen where you edit the event details. You can double click the map to open Maps and get directions.

Some events give me the Travel Time option, but only from "Work" and not "Home".  My actual work events don't give me the Travel Time option, maybe because iCal thinks I am already there?
I played around for a bit and think I found an answer. If I have no events on a day and I schedule one for anytime until 6:00pm, it will give the travel time from Work. If I add an event or change the time to 6:01pm or later, it will give the travel time from home.
If there are other events with locations already on the calendar and I add a new event reasonably close to one of them, it will give the travel time from the location of the previous event.
I haven't found a way to change the "from" location without adding another event or just typing in a travel time manually, but overall the automated system works pretty good.

  • Travel Time in Calendar not working

Not sure if this is a common theme amongst others but when I place an address into an event in calendar and then go to add travel time, the menu using my location times out and disapears.

  • Travel Time in Calendar With gmail

Have a question, wondering if anyone else has the same experience. I have been using calendar with both iCloud and Gmail, on my iOS 8 iPad. The travel time in the calendar app is great but it only seems to work on the iCloud calendars, yet on my MacBook I can add travel time onto an appointment in Gmail, on iOS it doesn't even give me the option. Is there any way to make this work or is it the result of an incompatibility between Apple and Google?

I am having a problem with travel time in Calendar. It will autopopulate with where it thinks I should be. I don't work during the daytime, and when I schedule in an entry for work, it wants to have me leaving from work. Is there any way to change it manually to start from home instead?

  • Mavericks calendar travel time

There is a bug when I play with the travel time in Calendar. I select a travel time of 30 minutes for one event. Then I change it to "none" or 1 hour. I click apply. A few seconds later the travel time goes back to 30 minutes. No matter how many times I change the travel time, it always goes back to 30 minutes. It is extremely frustrating to see this happen. I would appreciate it if this gets received somehow to be fixed in a later update.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • How do I sync travel time from iCal to calendar on an iOS device?

Hi, I really like the feature travel time in iCal. Unfortunale it only works great on the Mac. Therefor I only get the correct time when to leave when I am at home.
    I have an example:
I made an apointment that is 2 hours and 3 minutes travel time away on my iMac. This is actually transferred to my iPhone correctly.
I also added an apointment with a lication in the same city. On the iMac it shows me that I will need 8 minutes from the first meeting to the second apointment and that it will remind me in time to leave. Everything seems fine. But when I look in calendar on my iPhone it will remind me 1 hour and 8 minutes before the meeting starts. That does not make any sense.
I thought that maybe iOS calendar adds the usual time set to remind me and adds the driving time. This is not the case since the usuall time is set to two hours. On the iMac the usuall time to remember me is set to one hour. It is probbably coming from here that it adds the hour but it does not make sense.
Does anynbody know how to use the travel time funktion properly for all devices?
I am also lokking for a way to set the reminder to travel time plus X minutes. It would make sence to get reminded when to get ready and not when you sit at your desk and are actually supposed to get out of the house...

    Ok, I found the answer.
iCal will push the travel time plus the standard reminder time to the iOS device. So I set the standard remeinder to 10 minutes and I know whenever I am reminded that I have 10 minutes to get going. We can only hope that Apple will work some kinks out of this feature and we will be able to set a standard reminder for all appointments with travel time like "Leave in 30 minutes" to finish up what your doing or wrap up a meeting and then "leave in 5 minutes" to really get going. If you have the same issue write to apple.com/feedback. Maybe they will work on it if the get more feedbacks...

  • How do I get a calendar notification with travel time/traffic info?

    Hi everybody,
I saw an IOS 8 screenshot showing a calendar reminder in the lock screen that not only showed the upcoming calendar event info, but also said something like "to be in time, you should leave at 11:31". On the web page showing that screenshot, it was also said that this travel time info takes the current traffic info into account.
When I add a calendar event, I'm setting the proper event address plus the travel time option based on my location, and I'm also setting a calendar alert to something like "Notify me 1h prior leaving time". And actually, I'm getting that notification - but without that neat info when to leave exactly (which seems to include the current traffic info as said above)!
To be clear, I'm not talking about the traffic conditions WIDGET. This works flawlessly on my iPhone 5s with IOS 8. I'm talking about a lock screen calendar reminder that included the time to leave for an appointment!
I'm inserting the screenshot here (it's actually in German as I am from Germany):
Can anybody help on how to get those calendar reminders?
    Best,
    Gero

    Hello gerofromronnenberg
To see that information, you would need to swipe down to bring up Notification Center to bring up the time that you should need to leave your current location.

  • How to get calendar travel time (set up in Mavericks) to show on iOS 7 calendar?

I was wondering how to get calendar travel time (set up in Mavericks) to show on iOS 7 calendar? If I change a location in mavericaks it is updated in my iOS 7 calendar, but if I add travel time to an appointment, that does not show up on my iphone. This seems like a big miss for apple if this is the case. I could maybe understand not adding the ability to add travel time in iOS 7, but not being able to see the travel times you set up seems very incomplete. Any ideas or insight?

    Hello Cheer,
I don't believe the table changed when migrating from Access.  I had two tables before the migration, one was for the SwitchBoard Manager and the other table was for the database table.  I used the Switchboard to navigate to different menus, such
as the Main Form, Power Form, Server Form, etc.  Let me know if I can provide any other information to help you narrow this down for me.
    Thank you for your assistance.

  • Travel time not showing in calendar

There is no "travel time" field to toggle on/off when I book an appointment in the calendar app.

What have you done to try and fix it? Have you tried resetting your phone or restoring the OS?

  • IOS 8 Calendar : Time to leave / travel time alert does not show

iPhone User Guide: For iOS 8.1 Software
Calendar at a glance: pg. 78
"Add an event. Tap  +, then fill in the event details.  If you add a location and choose Alert > Time to leave, Calendar reminds you of the event based on the current travel time to get there."
On my phone, "Time to leave" is not available as an event alert option.  I'm using the iCloud calendar, not Google, not Exchange.  I've entered various addresses (selecting the suggested address) and my event even shows a Maps preview of the destination.  Still, I do not see a "Time to leave" alert option.
According to the user guide quote above, "Time to leave" should be visible.
I see that there is a Travel Time detail for the event and I can specify a starting point where I think I'll be for my future event, but the drawback is that this method only works statically.
    Thanks,
    iPhone 6 running iOS 8.1.2

I have this option on my iPad 4 but not on my iPhone 5.

  • Trying to understand travel time in iOS Calendar

I could be wrong, but I thought Maps/Calendar in iOS 7 was supposed to figure out how far you were from the location of an appointment and calculate an alert based upon travel time, so if you had a 7:00 appointment and you were 15 minutes away, you'd get an alert at 6:45.
If so, how do I get this to work...or am I mistaken?
    Thanks!

I am still confused since looking at the output of
    $ sudo systemd-analyze critical-chain
The time after the unit is active or started is printed after the "@" character.
The time the unit takes to start is printed after the "+" character.

Seems to indicate that the graphical.target comes alive at 12 seconds - yet the login prompt on the graphical screen is visible at 7 seconds!  I could believe that after the login prompt the network may still be being initialised, but something still doesn't look right compared to the elapsed time for the graphical target.
