  • TravelDock Zen Micro and Zen V Plus

I have a traveldock and I'm looking at getting a zen v plus. Will the 2 work together? It looks like they should fit but I wanted to check before upgrading.

    slap_shot_2,
No, I'm afraid the Zen V Plus won't fit into the slot or space that's meant for the Zen Micro player but you can still use the Traveldock Line-In jack to connect to the player for music playback.

  • TravelDock Zen Micro alternat

The TravelDock for Zen Micro sounds like fun and has a lot of neat options, but I don't have $50 to shell out for something that only has 4 watts per channel. When I had my XM radio, there was a forum where people shared ideas that they had for their own portable sound systems using items that they bought at places like Radio Shack. I'd like to make a portable, self-contained, good sounding sound system. Anybody have any ideas, thoughts to share?Message Edited by heymelbs on 0-20-2005 0:06 AM

first, the traverdock is $29 listed on us.creative.com
but still you consider this as expensi've one.
I actually had a chance to play music with this unit in digitallife.
The spec'd power is probably small, as you mentioned 4w.
However, its sound quality was decent and deli'vered loud sound from the unit.
Creative is ready to release one other speaker system,
which is able to connect not only zen micro, also other players as well, including ip**.
It was built for portable use and has very big speaker unit all around front part.
I forgot the name, but the speaker part is made by cambridge sound system.
But it's bulky compared to traveldock.
Any other alternati've? buy good headphone and amp
it's winter, you will be happy to wear headphone around your ear when you out there.

  • Terrible sound from Traveldock Zen Micro

We just bought a traveldock for our daughter to play her Zen Micro. When we hook up the Zen Micro to the docking ports of the Traveldock, the sound comes out very quiet and garbled. Connecting to the back line-in jack plays perfectly - only when playing through front docking ports it sounds like garbage. Very quiet, missing vocal track.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to fix this or is this just a bad unit's
We are very disappointed with this product.

    Thanks for the response.
As it turns out, I did some experimenting. In the Zen Micro menu, the Audio EQ setting was set to New Age. I turned this off. Also I turned off the Smart Volume setting. Hooked it back up to the Traveldock and, lo and behold, it played perfectly.
My opinion of the product is now much better.
I don't know if it was the change in audio settings, making sure to attach the player firmly in the dock, or what, but it sounds much better now.
I also downloaded but haven't yet installed the 2.2.02 firmware update for the Zen Micro just in case there's anything in there that helps its computability with the Traveldock. Anyway, we are happier now that the sound is coming out loud and clear.

  • A small Zen Micro quest

Ok so i got the zen micro for xmas and i got some songs on there but i cant figure out how to play them when i go to now playing it says select music to play from the music libary ... how do i get there? It says I have songs on the micro but i cant seem to find the music libary. Please help me out and make this xmas good and not frustrating for me

First of all, have you read the manual. That could solve a huge part of your problem. For a quick answer, push the back button and then you will see music library. Click on it, and then use the touchpad to find the music.

I know some people have problems with their zen micros and linking them up to their pc, but do you use microsoft media player to sync or the program that is provided. currently i have a zen xtra 30 gb and i have creative mediasource. out of all of these, which one works best?

    SSR,
The Zen Micro Media Explorer works very much the same way as Nomad Explorer but with a few additional feature. These are the various option available in the Zen Micro Media Explorer.
    . Import Music to Device.
2.Rip Audio CD tracks to Device.
    3.Organize Music in Device.
4.Create a New Playlist in Device.
5.Sync Music and Outlook data between PC and Device.
    6. Transfer Data between PC and Device.

Yes, you may buy a remote for: $20. I know there are places with Micros, I've heard them advertise on the radio. But I don't know where it was... I know the cheapest you an get this player online is newegg.com for $25. This page should help you find a store near you: http://us.creative.com/shop/wtb/local/local.asp If you aren't lucky enough to find a store in there (like me) you might be living in New England (like me, Massachusetts) and there are many places near me. Check here and see if anything is near you: http://us.creative.com/products/wtb/welcome.asp You can also order by phone. C-ya

  • Creative Zen Micro Quest

I have a white 5 gig Zen Micro and i love it but...............can someone please tell me how you synch up with Microsoft Outlook.... so that i can use the calender, contacts, and to-do-list features...........also, i've tried going throught the zen micro media explorer but it always tells me the device is connected, although it is, why does this happen and does it have anything to do with me using the latest firmaware (Creative Zen Micro *PlaysForSure/MTP Firmware 2.00.2 )...........help is appreciated.
    Thank you.

    big_d5,
If you had update the MTP firmware for the player, you will also need to update the Zen Micro Media Explorer to support the MTP version. Go to the driver page and look for this Zen Micro Media Explorer .00. for Creative Zen Micro (Software Update Package for Zen Micro Players with *PlaysForSure/MTP Firmware).

  • Creative Zen Micro Questi

I'm currently in the market for an MP3 player to use at the gym. Since I usually do a lot of jogging, I'm concerned about using an MP3 player that has a physical hard dri've vs. another type of player that utilitzes flash memory. My questions are:
. Should I be concerned about using a physical hard-dri've-based MP3 player, or does it not matter?
    2. Does the Zen Micro use a hard dri've, or a sim card? I was told by someone at Cambridge Soundworks that it uses a sim card and not a hard dri've, however the review of this unit on CNET states that it uses a hard dri've. I was not able to find details on Creative's web site.
    Can anyone help?

it absolutely uses a hard dri've...creative has other stuff that uses flash memory. you might have to worry about screwing up all the players that use hd's if you jog alot, so the flash players are the way to go. they are smaller, too, but you pay a lot more for a lot less space (usually 28, 256, 52mb or even gig) as opposed to 2.5, 4, 5, 20+ gigs for a hd.

  • New Zen Micro - Quest

.) Firmware Update (w/ MTP? - the 2nd one) - When it says that it syncs with my WMP0, does that mean that every time there are new songs in my library, it will automatically transfer to the Zen? Cuz... I do have more gigs of music than can be stored in the Micro, and I need to be "selecti've" haha.

    janny,
When using sync with WMP0, you do have the option of auto or manual sync.

When I was reading the instruction booklet it says to install the software to your computer before you plug your Micro into it. I was gonna make some hard disk space on it so I can transfer projects from school to my house but I can't install the software at school. Is there any way for me to do this?

If you can download from the computer at school buy a flash thumbdri've. You can check the sale ads for inexpensi've ones. I've purchased 4 gig ones fro $20.00 at Fry's electronics.

  • Zen micro traveldock on amazing s

I'm not sales person from woot.com
but they woot-off zen micro traveldock only $49.99 + shipping $5
I used to have zen micro myself.
you can find out searching this forum.
but I sold mine so I dont have mine anymore
    enjoy

    Yeah, get a new one.
Just FYI, if it was making kind of a boing, boing or whir/click noise when you turned it on, this is a sign the dri've read/write head has gotten hung over the edge of the dri've platter. It seems to happen occasionally with the rather delicate little dri'ves in these players. Under warranty, Creative will replace the unit. Out of warranty, there is a trick that will often fix this that involves turning the player off (remove the battery) and wacking the player face down in the palm of youe hand lightly but sharply> this will often unstick the head. It has worked for me and probably many others. Not an offical way to fix this, but OK if you have no replacement option and have nothing to lose.

  • Help with my Bran-New Creative Zen Micro Photo. [Questi

<EM>If you don't want to see the backing of my whole story skip to the bold print at the bottom!</EM>I also want you to know I read the FAQs and searched through some topics like this, but haven't found any asking my question.First of all, I'm new to the forum, but I've been researching Creative's Zen for a long time now. I kept observing each one closely before I purchased a product. I then saw the Zen Micro Photo come out. This one won my attention. I loved this, I quickly searched for reviews and went for the buy for Christmas. I told my dad about it and he was "iffy" on the price, but it was better then the iPod in my opinion.Christmas day came and I opened it. Right away I checked everything out I knew a lot about the menu already and all, but not really how to control it. I checked to make sure everything worked. All systems were go. After listening to the defaults (which I loved) I went to go install the software. I already had Media Player 0 and Adobe, oh and I didn't want the freakin AOL toolbar! Lol, so I installed everything else. It took forever, but I hooked it up and I installed the drivers, but as soon as I plug in the USB connector I see: "A HIGH-SPEED USB device has been plugged into a LOW SPEED USB port. After that, I switched USB ports, btu I got same message. I hit the X and then tried to charge. I got the Lightening Bolt, but no dimming of lights. I found out that this computer is not letting me install any service packs, I'm confused about that.My question:Is there anyway I can charge this mp3 player and download music onto my Zen Micro Photo without Service Pack ? Or did I just pay $250 for a really cool glowing mp3 player to be used as a paperweight? (I love this Zen and I ran the battery dead hoping that would make the charging easier).Help?
    My Specifications:
My Mp3 Player: Zen Micro Photo (Black)What I tried: Switching USB ports and re-installing Service Pack Software: Not sure how to determine firmware without installing something. I'm on a XP Professional and I'm using the Creative Media Source and Creative Media Toolbox

Thank you DM for responding. I am expecting problems, but it still won't allow me to charge the Zen Micro Photo or even use the Creative Media Source. I can't upload any songs or any contacts on it. I haven't uploaded anything yet, but it's not reading the USB device. When I run Creative Zen Micro Photo Media Explorer I get this message at the top of the screen: "The device is not connected. Please connect your Zen MicroPhoto to the computer. I can't organize anything or add songs... so it just makes all the programs I downloaded useless and my Creative product unusuable.ONe thing it does do though... whenever I plug in my Zen MIcroPhoto to the USB it turns it on and glows, but only shows my battery at the top with one red line and the green lightening bolt filling the battery up.After leaving it like this for two hours the green moves, but the red bar stays the same size.

  • Zen Micro Car charger quest

Will the official Creative Car Charger allow you to use the Zen Micro if the battery is completely dead? I bought a cheap usb car adapter and it doesn't seem to work correct at all. I am looking for a way to power the Zen Micro in the car if the battery is drained- I am assuming from Creative's product description you can use their adapter to power the Zen in the car if the battery is completely drained.
We really like the Zen micro but have had continous problems with the battery. I've updated firmware and have done everything recommended in the FAQ in regards to conserving the battery. My wife primarily uses the Zen in the car to replace her cd's. It is not used that often (maybe 2-3 hours a week) but seem to not hold a chage at all. The only way we have found to fully charge the unit is through the usb port on our computer. So basically we are looking for a way to power the Zen in the car regardless if the battery is charged.
    Thanks,
    Scott

I'm pretty sure if the battery is dead the Micro won't work even if plugged in. I remember trying to use a demo unit at a store and the battery was dead. They plugged it into its charger and it still wouldn't work. It said it was charging but the battery had to build up a charge before it would work.

  • Zen Micro- CHINESE Language Display quest

Hi, i am looking to buy a Zen Micro really soon.
but i have a question regarding it displaying CHINESE CHARACTERS.
does anyone have problems doing so, or any suggestions or warnings?
do i have to have CHINESE Windows for it to work?
    thanks.

I have mp3 files with ID tag information in traditional Chinese and the information displays on my Zen Micro without any problems. If you are using WinXP then you don't need a Chinese version - English WinXP is capable of displaying and manipulating Chinese data. Note that on WinXP you need to set default character set for non-unicode characters to either traditional or simplified Chinese, this setting should match the setting on your Zen Micro or you'll end up with gibberish.
