Traveling in Puerto Rico?

Hi - I'm an unlimited monthly prepaid customer currently traveling in Puerto Rico. I'm able to send/receive text messages and receive phone calls, but I'm not able to make phone calls or use data. What suggestions do you have?

    Visitingpr2015,
This is extremely strange but we'll be happy to help in any way we can. Which make/model phone do you have? Are you using our Verizon Wireless services or do you have our phone connected to a different service provider?

My wife and I will be traveling to Puerto Rico for a vacation.  Do we need to do anything to continue wireless phone access while there?

        Hey there Decamp,
That is awesome that you are travelling to Puerto Rico. I might have to plan a trip there myself to escape this cold weather.
A majority of Puerto Rico is covered under our voice network. If you are roaming it'll be $0.69 per minute. Please use your device's banner as an indicator of your roaming status.
Texting and data are covered under your current plan.

  • Traveling to puerto rico, any horror stories with data roaming?

Of course I know that PR is a US territory, and I called ATT - they said no problem, but just want to see if anyones heard of troubles getting charged for data or voice roaming in Puerto Rico?

Never heard any problems with Puerto Rico. I go to the US Virgin Islands, never had roaming charges, and find AT&T coverage is quite good.

  • Traveling to puerto Rico!

Hey guys and gals, i don't know if this has been asked or talked about. I'm going to puerto Rico in about 2 weeks and i wanted to know a few things. First of all is there Data and voice roaming over there since it's a U.S. Territory? I was also wondering if anyone knows if i'd get charged extra to use my text messaging. I appreciate any help in this. I just don't want to come home to an outrageous cell phone bill!

You should not be charged for roaming. The following are quotes from the AT&T iPhone Terms & Conditions.
+"Roaming charges do not apply when roaming within the service area of land-based networks of the 50 United States, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands. "+
+"Data Roaming toggle set to OFF will block data roaming outside the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico..."+
    See: http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/articles-resources/iphone-terms.jsp

  • Puerto Rico: Is it roaming charges if you travel with your iPhone?

I am travelling to puerto rico.
I live in the US and I am wondering if I'll be roaming or not.
    Thx

Talke to ATT twice, to confirm what the 1st agent told me.
    SUBJECT:
    iPhone International Roaming
    FACT:
    Apple iPhone
iPhone users roaming internationally need to be aware of the following:
The unlimited data portion of the iPhone rate plan is limited to domestic use
Data is not unlimited when roaming internationally. When using your service outside the U.S., Puerto Rico or U.S. Virgin Islands, international roaming rates apply.
    Decreasing International Data Usage
In order to decrease international data usage, the following options are available to limit automatic or regulated data sessions.
    Disable Email Retrieval
    Tap Settings.
Scroll down and tap the Mail icon.
Tap the first integrated email account.
Slide the email indicator from On to Off .
Click the Mail icon in the upper left hand corner.
Repeat for every integrated email account.
Each account must be turned back on to resume delivery and receipt of email messages.
    Airplane Mode
    Tap Settings.
Slide the Airplane Mode indicator from Off to On.
All voice and data functions of the device are disengaged until this setting is set to Off.
These tips can also help you minimize data usage while roaming internationally:
Utilize WiFi, available in many international hotels, airports, and restaurants to browse the web or check email
Keep Data Roaming "OFF": Be sure to download the Version 1.1.1 upgrade to iPhone. This software update will enable the ability to turn on/off data roaming when traveling outside the U.S . By default, this setting will be in the "OFF" position. The path is: Settings > General > Network > Data Roaming.
Turn off your phone's "auto check" function, and check email manually when needed, using WiFi
Reset the usage tracker to zero when you arrive overseas and monitor your data usage
Consider purchasing an international service plan that includes discounted international data usage. AT&T now offers two discount international data packages. The 20 MB package is $24.99; the 50 MB package is $59.99. See att.com/wirelessinternational for details and international roaming rates.

  • Puerto Rico Usage

I will be traveling quite a bit over the next few months for business in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  I was there this past week, and noticed that I was received an "Extended" signal.  I also tried to use some Iphone apps and received a notification that I was roaming.  Can I make calls and use data without incurring any extra charges?  Thanks.

I got contradictory info from a Verizon rep vs the Verizon web site.  I don't know what's going to happen.  I will believe this for now:
If you go thru the International Trip Planner and input Puerto Rico you will get the following information under special info for Puerto Rico(make sure to read bullet point  #6):
If you're traveling in Puerto Rico, contact Customer Service at 800-922-0204 from any landline phone.
Global Picture and Video Messages are billed at the same per-message rate as though they were sent from the U.S. Accordingly, you can send/receive Picture and Video Messages with customers of:
    Verizon Wireless (domestic rates/bundles apply)
Other domestic carriers (domestic rates/bundles apply)
Canadian, Mexican and Puerto Rican carriers (domestic rates/bundles apply)
Select International carriers (global rates apply)
When sending or receiving there's an additional data transport charge billed at the destination's Data Pay per Use Rate multiplied by the size of the Picture or Video, which can vary greatly.
A data network is required to send picture or video outside the U.S. See the Data Roaming List for eligible destinations.
Attempts to send Pictures or Videos are charged, even if the delivery fails.
Most of Puerto Rico is included in the Nationwide coverage area. If you roam outside of the Nationwide coverage area, you'll be charged $0.69 per minute.
You may not be able to send Picture/Video Messages while roaming in Puerto Rico.
Text Messages sent or received while in Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands are billed as though you were in the U.S.

  • Puerto Rico - Chauffer Taxes

    Folks,
We are newly implementing Puerto Rico Payroll, during our findings we found there is no disability taxes for Chauffers. In order to do this, we first need to distinguish employees as Chauffer in master data. we felt we can use 'Person Admin' field from IT1 and access this in the rule UMOT. I am unable to access this field in rule UMOT. OUTWP operation doesn't have input parameter to access the field.
We are not restricted to this field. I want to know if any one has implemented payroll puerto rico how you have classified employees as chauffers in master data and not calculating taxes with out exempting them using IT235. second question is can we use any other operation to access field 'Person Admin' in rule?
    Thanks,
    Rahul

Hello ned4spd8875. Congrats on going to Puerto Rico! It's one of my favorite travel destinations in the world! To gain a better understanding of what services are available to you, may I ask what make and model device do you have? All of our Verizon Wireless feature phones and smartphones works in Puerto Rico. As budone stated, it's $0.69 per minute for voice calls and text messaging is billed at the standard rate. If you have unlimited texting then there isn't any additional cost to text your fiancee, assuming that she has Verizon Wireless also. If you have a smartphone then you can look into the app store or market for 3rd party apps that works over wi-fi to reduce the cost of voice and data services. I hope that you have a great time on your trip! ^AH

  • Puerto Rico coverage suggestions?

Apparently Puerto Rico is considered a foreign country because the verizon rep I spoke said that I would have to pay for international coverage and also I'd be roaming! ***?
I'm going to Puerto Rico in a couple weeks for a wedding. I will only be there about 4 days or so total. I would like to be able to make and receive calls down there. Checking emails as well as texting or sending photos to friends via text or facebook.
Like I said, the vzw rep made it sound like I would have to pay roaming fees and also pay for texting and just about every other thing that I would be doing down there.
What gives? Any suggestions on the best and cheapest way to be able to use my phone while I'm down there? I can do without sending photos; although I guess I'll have to disable G+ from uploading them automatically. At the very least I'd like to be able to call and also text.
I'm going with my fiancee and it would be nice if I could call or text her when we're separated so we can find each other or setup a time to meet up for dinner or what not.
Thanks in advance for the help!

  • Coverage Questions In Puerto Rico

Hello. I have the Galaxy3 with the Share Everything Plan. Right now I'm in Puerto Rico traveling. My phone shows "Extended Coverage" but I'm not Roaming. No triangle on top of my bars. And when I look under settings it states "NOT ROAMING". So how come when I call *611, they tell me I will get charged .69 a minute? When I look at the coverage maps, it shows the whole island under "Extended Coverage". And I thought "Extended Coverage" doesn't charge anything extra?

        Good afternoon SenorHombre511!
We do have roaming partners in Puerto Rico, however it will read as Extended Network while in a CDMA area, like PR. You can review the coverage and rates on our website here: http://goo.gl/p3LEn. Let us know if you have further questions.
