Traveling internationally with my ITouch

I am from the USA and I am going to be traveling to Germany and I don't want to take my laptop so I am curious if it will connect to their wifi because I can just email with the itouch?

WiFi is the same wherever, so if it is a free hotspot, or you have the password to access a private network, then it will work as it does in the US.

  • Travel International with BB Tour

Plan to travel to Asia next week that utilizes GSM network.  Wish to purchase a SIM card locally for Voice & Data plan.
Will I simply remove my current SIM card (Sprint) with the local one.  Or will this BB Tour need to be unlocked to work locally?
Anything else that I would need to know when travel internationally?

  • Traveling internationally with AT

I'm travelling in south Africa with an iPad 2 and am unable to roam onto a local cell network. Had similar problem in London last week.  Don't want an AT&T international plan...just want to get onto a local carrier for limited roaming.  Have tried to connect to a network with both automatic and manual configuration in settings.  Am also travelling with two blackberries and they connect automatically no problem - so know its not a network availability issue.
    Any suggestions appreciated.

What do you mean by provisioning for international use?  iPad is unlocked and after three days, it did eventually start to to work in London.  South Africa is not one of the countries listed on the AT&T international plan as well...am not sure purchasing am AT&T international plan is/should be required to have the device roam internationally.

  • Traveling Internationally with the original iPhone

I have friend who is about to embark on a international trip to Vietnam. She is bringing her iPhone with her, but does NOT want to have to pay the expensive roaming charges while there. So we're looking for a way to turn off the cell phone part so it won't/can't connect to whatever wireless network may be there, but still use it with Wi-Fi for the iPhone apps and for getting email where Wi-Fi is available.
I'm guessing that turning OFF Enable Edge and turning OFF Data Roaming should do the trick, but want to be sure before I give her bad information.
    Any ideas?

There is no option to turn off EDGE or GPRS access with the first generation iPhone. There is an option to turn off 3G network access with the iPhone 3G which doesn't turn off EDGE or GPRS access with the iPhone. Data Roaming is off by default with the iPhone.
If she is running firmware version 2.0 or later on her iPhone, she can enable Airplane mode followed by turning on wi-fi access. This will disable the cell and data access via the cellular network so no calls can be placed or received and the same for SMS, this disables data access via a cellular network, and disables bluetooth access. Wi-Fi access will be available turning her iPhone into an iPod Touch.

  • IMessage and travelling abroad with iPhone

I have a question for those who have travelled internationally with their AT&T iPhone.
Am I correct in assuming that as long as I’m connected to wifi, I can still have iMessage text conversations with other iOS5 users back in the United States, without being billed for anything? Are there any tips you can offer for people traveling internationally on vacation with iOS5 other than that? I’m sure I’ll be on airplane mode when wandering away from the hotel wifi.

    Yes.
All iMessage requires is an internet connection which can be wi-fi only.
Turn Cellular Data off and you can enable Airplane mode followed by turning wi-fi access on. All other iPhone radios will be off except for wi-fi.

  • Customer Service while traveling Internationally

I am currently on business in India and would like to contact customer service but am unable to do so through the 1-800 number. I have sent e mails through the website but have received no response. My inquiries are regarding possible international calling plans that would allow me to not be charged full roaming fees. I have an HTC Droid Eris which is not a world phone but still works here, apparently because of other CDMA networks here. I would also like to pay my bill for this month but am apprehensive to do so online because of India being known for very poor internet security and frequent credit card scamming. Any response would be very appreciated.

I am sorry to hear you are having trouble contacting Customer Service while traveling internationally. I have researched some information and will be glad to  provide you with a number you can contact Customer Service while out of the United States.
    CDMA – 1 908-559-4899
    GSM - 1 908-559-4899
You can also dial 908-559-4899 from a non Verizon Wireless device or landline.
I hope this information is helpful to you! Please let us know if you are still experiencing difficulties contacting Verizon Wireless.

  • HT1807 Is there any way to check your roaming minutes while traveling internationally?

Is there any way to check your roaming minutes while traveling internationally?

    Hi Icebreaker
Thanks for getting back to me.
I successfully upgraded the Firmware to the latest available on the site - I don't have the camera here to confirm the vesion number but the upgraded Firmware was reported in the setup application.
WPA is AES, which is all that the Thomson router seems to support and I did notice that the camera was looking for TKIP. However, I have tried with WEP and no security to test, with no luck either. I am testing with the camera within 10 feet or so of the router and getting an error message re. checking network condition and the Network doesn't seem to even 'See' the camera as such and the Wireless LED is not lighting up. That's why I was wondering if the Wireless was faulty.
    thanks again

  • Is Tmobile contract free iPhone 6 locked to Tmobile network? Can it be used internationally with other carriers?

If I buy a Tmobile contract free iPhone 6 in apple store, does that mean it is locked and can only use Tmobile network? Can it be used internationally with other carriers? I travel a lot and do not want to find out my phone does not work the moment I insert a local carrier sim card.

"The iPhone 6 will come unlocked as long as customers pay full price," a T-Mobile representative said. "If customers choose to take advantage of T-Mobile’s Equipment Installment Plan it will be locked until the device is fully paid off. This policy applies at both T-Mobile and Apple stores."

  • Traveling Internationally

How do I adjust the Settings so that I am not using any Data or Voice services with my Carrier (at&t) while travelling internationally to avoid fees, but where I can still use my phone on Wi-fi only?

Turn on Airplane mode, then turn WiFi back on.

  • To avoid roaming charges when traveling internationally, do i put my iphone on airplane mode only or do i also need to turn off data and voice roaming

I have an iphone 4 with sprint which can't take a sim card.  To avoid roaming charges while traveling internationally, do i put my phone on airplane mode.
I read you need to turn off cellular and voice data roaming as well but when I turn on airplane mode, it seems like roaming is automatically turned off.
    Is this true?

Turning on Airplane Mode will prevent the phone from getting roaming charges as it cant connect to a cell tower.
P.S you can have WiFi on and still be in Airplan Mode. Just turn Airplane Mode on first, then turn the WiFi on

  • Error when creating a travel request with Advance amount

    Hi Gurus,
When I create a travel request with an Advance amount and try to save the same, the system throws up an error msg : "Trip country does not exist in the system (T005).
However, it allows me to create the travel request without this error if i dont enter any advance amount in the travel request.
I checked the tables V_T706L and V_T706O and found my trip county to be existing.
    Regards
    Prakash

    Hello Prakash,
The following are the prerequisites for transferring trip costs to accounting.  In other words when you try to create and save a travel request with advance you are involving accounting entries and therefore the following needed to be checked:
1.Travel Management and Accounting are both at Release 4.5A. If at least one of the systems
has a release level lower than 4.5A, follow the instructions in Customizing for ALE.
    2. For payment to be effected, vendor accounts must exist in Accounting for the respective
    personnel numbers.
    3. The following Accounting tables must be replicated in the Travel Management System using
    Customizing transports:
      Company Codes (T001)
      Countries (T005)
      Input Tax Codes (T007A, T007S)
      Document Types (T003)
    4. The transfer of settlement results
More relevant in your case would be the point 3. Countries(T005) not defined in TM.
Hope the above provided you more information.

  • I downloaded song from my backup drive and now they will not sync in itunes with my itouch

I downloaded some music from my external drive to itune and it synced with my itouch but now will not sync or play on my new iphone.. has a "!" in column?

See section 5 of TS1538: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows.
If that doesn't help it may pay to tear down and reinstall iTunes in the following manner...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • USB Think/Travel Keyboard with UltraNav Win 7

Although Lenovo assured me I would not have problems with my trackpoint keyboard (USB Think/Travel Keyboard with UltraNav), Windows 7 Pro 64 bit (ThinkCenter M93p) does not recognize UltraNav. The functions (example: scroll) work correctly in some applications but not in Windows itself (example: Windows Explorer).
I am looking for a Windows 7 64 bit, driver for that keyboard.
    Thanks.

  • SUN .... When....  JRE 1.4.0 international with auto update

SUN .... When.... JRE 1.4.0 international with auto update
    When will you deliver .........
We have a dead line and our product needs the international version 1.4 to be updated on our exsiting user base, one of our customers has over 700 workstations.
If the solution is to manually dowload and install this version then Web Start totally fails as a web centric solution.
I see that creating our own servlet breaches SUN's license agreement, so give us a developer servlet we can use.

The auto download servlet supports both international and us-only versions of Java 1.4.0.
Java Web Start includes the current locale in the request to the servlet, and it returns the
US only version if the locale is en_US , or the international version otherwise.
Curently there is no way to get the servlet to download the international version when the
clients locale is en_US.Sorry but havent you just anwsered the question I put, either the servlet supports international clients or it dosent and your anwser just puts more wood on the fire, it dosent, but it could.
Also we recognize that there is a problem when an application needs the international version, and >>the client already has the US version installed. In this case Java Web Start will not attempt
to contact the servlet since it thinks it has an appropriate version allready. Also if you client requires an international version of the JRE it is because it requires that version period, hence if the version tag within the JNLP file specifies JRE1.4 international, then it dosent matter what Web Start may or may not think, the JNLP file written for the application by the author should determine its fate.
The only reason Web Start should determine locale on a target machine would be the text displayed for the dialog interface between the end user.
Its a simple case of checking do I have 1.4 international, "Yes or No", at this point I dont care if 1.4 English is installed, or locale is English, JNLP file asked Web Start, if 1.4 international was installed, "No", Ok then call servlet and request 1.4 international. Simple....
The JRE license agreement allows customers to repackage and redistribute the JRE.
Many customers are redistributing a JRE with their app. Im sure many are, please read my previous post , if you can get sun to offically confirm this, then I stand corrected.
