Traveling to South Korea

I'm planning to travel to South Korea. I like to make/receive calls from/to South Korea and US. In this case, what is the best option I can combine to purchase Skype products?I'll have my Sprint HTC Evo 4G brought to South Korea with unlimited data plan. What I was thinking after reading various skype plan options,
Buy Online number for South Korea.Buy monthly subscription for both US and South Korea for both mobile and landlines.
In this senario, the following is my questions.
1. I can't buy Online Number for South Korea with my US credit card. How can I buy O.N. for South Korea? I'm a South Korea citizen living in NYC.
2. With this online number, Is all incoming calls are free for myself no matter where the calls originates from (US or South Korea)?
3. With Monthly subscription(I think this is for outgoing call subscription only, not incoming call), do I get unlimited outgoing calls or do I still need to pay for minutes I use?

Gald to see that you have done research on your own before posting
1. Why can't you purchase ON with US credit card? I can see your last payment was not finished, but did you get any errors?
2. Yes, calls to your Online Number in Skype are free for you. In Skype you don't pay for incoming calls.
3. For US we have for example Unlimited US subscription, which covers landline and mobiles both.
For South Korea we don't have unlimited subscription that would cover mobiles. Maximum is 400min per month(landlines and mobile). Unlimited South Korea covers only landlines.

With unlimited subscription you can make up to 10 000 minutes per month and you don't pay extra for minutes.
Please check fair usage policy applies to all subscriptions

  • Can I use iPhone 6 in South Korea?

My brother wants to send me an iPhone 6 from USA so I can use it in South Korea.  It will be unlocked but does it matter to get a GSM or CDMA iPhone6?
What about to use LTe service in South Korea.  Is it better to get a CDMA or GSM phone?

If the phone that you purchased in China is unlocked, then yes, you will be able to use it, but if it is locked to a Chinese carrier, then no.  If it is locked and you are travelling you will have to use the international roaming feature from your carrier.
If on the other hand you phone is unlocked, then you can use local sim cards in the phone, but you probably will not be able to get 4G reception, due to the frequency differences between countries.  The phone will work, but possibly not on 4G everywhere and there will be nothing you can do about that.  That is why different countries sell different models of iPhone to match their networks and why iPhone warranty is NOT international, but country specific.

  • Is it possible to get Data Roaming in South Korea?

I have a Verizon Iphone 5. I travel to Asia quite frequently. My stops always include Japan and Korea. When I am in Japan, I am able to use my phone via 3G to surf the web, email, etc. It's not the fastest connection but sufficient. However, the moment I step foot in Korea, my data goes dead. I will be in the heart of Seoul, the largest city in Korea, and I will have no access to data outside of a wifi connection. When I use Korean smartphones, the network is extremely quick, faster than my phone on it's home 4g connection. According to Verizon coverage maps and Verizon tech support, my phone should work. However, I can't get any data, not even a slow one. I've tried messing with all the settings, power cycle, etc. still nothing. Is my phone even capable of data roaming in Korea? If so, how come my data works fine in Japan and then 2 hours later doesn't work at all in Korea?

In the past I've spoken with the Verizon global support and made all the necessary recommendations. However, as I said in my previous post, I am am to surf and access data in Japan with ease. It works fine in Kyoto and Tokyo, even in the subways and in certain spots along the Shinkansen. However, as soon as I touch down in Korea flying from Japan, my phone becomes a paper weight. Voice and text functions work, however due to the high toll rates, I avoid using them. You say I should have access to 1x and even 3g data, however, in downtown Seoul, which would probably be the Korean equivalent of downtown Manhattan, Needless to say every carrier has above average coverage in a major city like NY. I have no access to data at all. I would walk blocks thinking I'm not hitting the right tower or what not and nothing. No data whatsoever, not even 1x. From my own research, South Korea has one of the best cellular networks in the world. However, without access to emails and google functions like maps, it becomes increasingly difficult to travel with Verizon. I'm constantly looking for a Starbucks or some other venue offering wi-fi so I don't get lost while traveling the city. If Verizon is supposed to have roaming data in Korea or specifically Seoul, which carrier are they linked to?

  • Can I change my SIM card to use it in South Korea?

    Hi,
I'm planning to stay in South Korea for 3 months this summer and I was wondering if I could buy a new SIM card in Korea and put it into my current Verizon phone that I'm using in the States(It is Galaxy S4). Global plan seems to be expensive so I'm planning to have Korean phone carrier while I'm in Korea but using my American phone so I don't have to buy another device to use in Korea.
    Thank you!

That sounds like an exciting trip, berryholic. Good news! The Galaxy S4 is already unlocked for use with local SIM cards while you're overseas, so there's nothing extra you'll need from us to be able to use a SIM from another carrier during your trip. If you change your mind about leaving your Verizon Wireless SIM in for the trip, be sure to visit www.vzw.com/tripplanner for all the rate details and what changes through My Verizon http://bit.ly/xB4iTc would be needed to give you the best service and rates.

  • How can I get English language support in South Korea?

I'm British living in South Korea. A few times now I have needed to get in touch with support but the Korean site only has Korean language. My Korean is not good enough to have a conversation in Korean. Anyone know how I can get Englsih language support in South Korea?

Is there an official site where I can install a
    language pack for Armenian?
Armenian reading and writing support is already included in OS X. The font is called Mshtakan. To input you need to activate one of the Armenian keyboard layouts by going to system preferences/international/input menu and checking their boxes, plus the box for "show input menu in Finder," then selecting Armenian in the "flag" menu at the top right of the finder.
Armenian requires a modern Unicode app and will not work with Appleworks or Word X.
OS X does not yet have an Armenian system localization (menu and dialogues).
If you don't have the things described above on your system, let us know.

  • Educator's discount - Can I receive even though I'm in South Korea?

Hello!  I'm a university professor in Seoul, South Korea and would like to get the English version of Captivate using the educator's discount.  This educator's version is offered on the U.S. site.  I don't know if they offer a similar discount for Korean educators since the Korean website is (obviously) in Korean, and I don't read Korean.  Is it possible to get the educator discount using the U.S. site?  I cannot use the Korean version of Captivate since I cannot read Korean.
    Thanks!

    Hi DCK12345,
Don't know if you are able to do this, but I would not purchase the software, considering the subscription plan they have available. You can subscribe and always have the latest updates for around 29.99 a month. I do this from Japan, and it works much better than laying out however many hundreds of dollars and having to constantly pay for the upgrades. I think they even have a yearly plan for 20 something dollars a month...even for the educators discount, the subscription likely works out cheaper.

  • I buy my Iphone at Malaysia, can i use it in South Korea?

I buy my Iphone at Malaysia, can i use it in South Korea?
If can how? if i sign v their telecommunication service, their sim card is same like Malaysia ?

If you use a credit card from a financial institution in the US,
with a verified billing address in the US, and ship the order to
the US. Warranty will be valid only in the US and LTE will not
work in EU. The low prices you see for some iPhones are
because the iPhone requires a 2 year contract with a wireless
carrier in the US. Prices for unlocked (useable with any carrier)
    iPhone 5 are $649 for 16 GB, $747 for 32 GB, and $849 for 64 GB
+ applicable taxes which will vary with shipping destination within
    the US. Still interested?

I have an ipod touch.  I live in the us and am travelling to South Africa.  Do I need a voltage converter?

Many wall charger are universal voltage (110 to 220 VAC) and frequency (50 or 69 Hz). However, you may need a plug adopter to mate with the receptacles in the country.
The charger will have written on it the voltage and frequency.

  • Suspending service does not work and I keep getting an error message (South Korea)

Hi, I am currently back at home at South Korea during the summer and I cannot seem to suspend my service.
I continue to get this error message saying that suspending service is not available at the time and that I should try again later.
I got this message over the past 10 days and I cannot seem to suspend my service.
Since I am in South Korea, customer service live chat does not even work.
Is there anyway possible I could suspend my line before I get into a new billing cycle?
