Travelling and unable to access account!

I travelled to Spain from May 1 to May 14, 2014.  I was very distressed not to be able to access my Hotmail/Outlook account while away.  I do not have a cell phone for use in Europe and had no other way of keeping in touch with my family/friends. 
I was asked some security questions and to provide a number or email where a security code could be sent.  I tried using the email address at the resort I was staying at, but in two days they did not receive an email for me with the code. 
How can I prevent this from happening the next time I travel?  Is there an email or a phone call I can make to say that I am travelling?
I don't want this to happen again.  As I said, I was very annoyed that I couldn't access my account.

Hi,
Many ISPs require users to authenticate when they try to send email while accessing the server from outside the network. You may need to change the authentication settings for your account to make your Outlook work again when you are travelling. In many
cases, users will also need to use a different port number and may need to use SSL.

    Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Unable to access account (possible hijacking?)

    A few days ago I was unable to access my main skype account. The password recovery system straight up does not work, saying my email has no account associated with it. When I tried making a new account with that email, though, it said the email was already in use.
    No amount of password recovery will help me with my issue, as it's just stuck in a robot loop. If I could talk to a human being about this, maybe I could get my account back. Please help.

    Hi Anne,
    Your version of Safari is still supported.  Please see Adobe Flash Player | Tech specs for supported OS and browsers.
    If the Flash Player plugin is in the Plug-ins (disabled) folder it's because it's an older version that Apple has disabled in Safari.  This has nothing to do with whether or not Flash Player supports the browser.
    I'm not sure what you mean by "when i click on flash player itself i am told there is no application to open it."  Flash Player.plugin only works in the browser to view Flash content in the browser.  The plugin does not open files outside of the browser.  If you have SWF files you'd like to view outside of the browser, then you'll need the Flash Player projector. However, based on your previous comments this doesn't appear to be what you are trying to do.
    Google Chrome does embed Flash Player in it, while Firefox does not.   Mozilla has also recently started blocking older versions of Flash Player in Firefox similar to what Apple is doing in Safari.
    Following the 'clean install' instructions should result in you having the latest version of Flash Player installed that will not be blocked by the browser.

    I have a mac mini with the latest updates for Yosemite. I am unable to access the startup partition in order to run disk utility. I have been restarting the computer and holding the option key to access the startup. Any ideas what could be wrong or what I am not doing correctly?

    You can run Disk Utility from OS X. You can find it in /Applications/Utilities.
    However, if you need to repair your disk or something similar, you may need to start up in OS X Recovery. To do it, hold Command and R keys while your Mac is starting up until you see the Apple logo. After starting up in OS X Recovery, open Disk Utility and do what you need.

  • HT5577 Devices and Recovery ID stolen. Unable to access account with two-step verification. Apple does not care. What can I do?

    Last year, my backpack containing my laptop and phone were stolen. My Recovery Key was saved as a screenshot on the laptop and on the phone and I have no other copy. I remotely wiped both devices. I had no insurance for such circumstances and replaced them at my own expense but I cannot access my AppleID account because Two-Step Verification is active and my old telephone number was replaced and I no longer have access to it. I can live with losing the devices as a result of my own stupidity, but Apple claims they are unable to restore my access to my old account in spite of the special circumstances. Apple can confirm my identity via my bank details and my email address but they do not seem to care. I've lost access to my music, software, calendars etc. I have a new AppleID - I had no other option but to set one up - but it irks me that Apple is unwilling to transfer purchases made on my old AppleID to my new one. I am considering taking legal action to regain my purchases and wonder if anybody else has found themselves in a similar situation.

  • I have an iPhone 4 and just did a software update and now my phone won't turn in. It looks like it wants me to connect to iTunes but I'm traveling and can't access my account...or don't know how. Help!

    I did a software update and cannot get my phone to turn off, on, or anything. It shows a gray apple and then an iTunes icon with a USB cable picture. I am not able to connect to my iTunes account because it's on my home computer (I'm traveling). It won't let me add my laptop because it says I have it tied to too many computers already and I can't deauthorize any of those computers because I don't know what they are, and I'm traveling. Can anyone help make my phone usable again? Preferably with contacts in tact.

    A drop or two of water may have been enough to cook it. If it was bad enough to prompt you to put it in a bag of rice, then I'd venture to guess it was more than a drop or two.
    Try putting it back in the bag of rice and leave it there for several days.
    If that doesn't fix it, then you're more than likely looking at paying for an out of warranty replacement.
    Water and delicate electronics don't generally get along well.

  • Upgrading iphoto 9 and unable to access old iphoto library

    this week I did the maverick OS 10.9 upgrade without really reading about it, trusting that Apple knows what they are offering us. This upgrade prompted a suite  of annoying events. Apart from having to purchase new programs as the old ones would not work anymore (Illustrator, Adobe), I also had to purchase all my dictionaries (I work in three languages so that means at least 3 of them plus the bilingual ones = $$).
    Apart from that, the most annoying of all is the iphoto upgrade. I could no longer open my old iphoto program, so I did an software upgrade, and I went to the app store and upgraded it there (now installed is iphoto 9.5.1). I think it went for free (not sure) but in any cases, when I opened it, it prompted me to choose a library; I chose my iphoto library file - but despite the little button glowing in blue, nothing would happen or open. I then accepted to create a new library. it created a iphoto library_2 file. I have tried opening the program differently (pressing option and command while opening) but could not really get anywhere to the folder and open my old iphoto library file. How do I access my old library?? I have a 15,000 pictures in there!!!!
    I have a backup that is not too old, I have no idea why both on my back up and on my main computer both files are dated aug 2013 - even if my latest back up was last week (dec 2013). But that is question no 2...

    If i search my machine I can't find the iphoto library anywhere.
    If I "Create a new Library" and want to turn on icould to get the few photo's i have saved there then it tells me that my apple  ID is use by another Library????
    I cant find that Library.
    Although I have had a mac for 2 years I do not know the in's and outs.
    Have a tried a few suggestions from other forums but no luck
    Any help appreciated!
