Trazados Freehand a Photoshop

En ciertos ordenadores, al copiar y Pegar en Photoshop trazados realizados en Freehand, recibo el error de "el módulo de análisis no pudo leer el contenido del portapapeles".
En mi ordenador puedo realizarlo, no sin problemas, ya que al pegarlo como "trazado" me da el error de "falta de memoria RAM", y entonces lo pego como "capa de formas" o viceversa.
Los dos tienen instalado Windows XP.
Si no tienen la solución:
¿Existe una alternativa para pasar los trazados de Freehand?

Antes de copiar tus trazados en Fhd, intenta desagruparlos primero. Si tu caso es con palabras convertidas a curvas, hay letras como la "a, b, e...etc" (aquellas que tienen huecos en sus formas) que despues de desagrupar la palabra deberas aplicarles un "split element" (no se como figura este comando en la version en español) a esas letras y luego (si deseas que el hueco de la letra llegue a photoshop) seleccionas el path del hueco junto al resto de la letra y le das un "join element".
Asi, luego de tener todo desagrupado puedes darle el copy paste que deseas...

Coping art work from freehand to photoshop

How do I copy vector art from freehand mx to photoshop CS2. It used to let me do it and still does when I work on a MAC. But I am trying to do that on a PC
and I can not seem make it work.
Does anyone know how?
I know I can copy and paste art work from illustrator, that seems to work just fine.
I like some help if anyone knows why it does not let me do it on a PC.

Exporting Editable text from Freehand into Photoshop?

Anybody out there know how to do this? I use Freehand MX and would like to bring my text "live" into Photoshop to edit there if need be. I use Photoshop CS2.

Use 'Copy Special' and Paste.
1. Insert FreeHand text tool in text block and drag to highlight the text.
2. Edit>Special>Copy Special>Unformatted Text.
3. In Photoshop, with text tool, drag to draw a new text box.
4. Paste. Text will take on currently active Photoshop attributes of font, size, color, etc.
I don't know of a way to get editable formatted text from FH to Photoshop. However, if you have Illustrator CS4, open the FH file there. Highlight the text and copy. In Photoshop, paste into a new text box. Font, color, and perhaps some other formatting will be preserved. I haven't used text with tabs, kerning or other text formatting attributes.

Selecting photoshop as an external editor

I am using freehand mx 11.0.2 and have photosop cs3. I am
trying to send a picture in freehand to photoshop. I go to edit
-> preferences -> object and then i want to send the file as
a JPEG but when i click on the button to select the external editor
photoshop is not in the list. The only way i can get it to appear
is if i change the file format from JPEG to psd.
Is there a way i can get photoshop to appear in the list when
the file format is set to JPEG?

Can't help you with the specific problem, but I would suggest
that you
don't use JPEG for a number of reasons. 1) FreeHand doesn't
always play
nice with JPEGs, when there are "weird" unexplained things
happening
with FreeHand files I can almost always track it down to a
JPEG. 2) If
you are editing an image, using JPEG is asking for trouble
because
evrytime you re-save it you are degrading the image more and
more. Use
TIFF where ever you would use JPEG. Use EPS if you are
including a
Photoshop clipping path, even though FreeHand can handle TIFF
clipping
paths it tends to shift the location of it.

Pluma en Illustrator

Actualmente utilizo Illustrator para diseñar y me gustaría saber si puedo cambiar las peferencias de la pluma para dibujar. En concreto me gustaría que al dibujar con la pluma hubiera una manera de visualizar el trazado como lo hace en freehand y photoshop. Si pincho en un punto y estiro poder ver el trazo. Estoy acostumbrado a trazar y redibujar con esos programas y me supone una pérdida de tiempo trazar con la pluma en Illustrator.

La versión que utilizo es la 10 y la plataforma es windows xp profesional. No es que sea un problema grave, pero me parece raro que no muestre el trazo entre dos puntos (sólo muestra el trazo cuando he pinchado en el segundo punto), y yo lo que quiero es visualizar el trazo y poder dirigirlo sin tener que marcar el segundo punto. No se si me explico. En photoshop, en la herramienta pluma, tienes la opción de goma elástica para activar o desactivar la visualización del trazo. Pensaba que en Illustrator también había una casilla de activación, pero la verdad es que no la encuentro.

Backed-up Mac Files turn into EXE

Help please!
I am have such a bad time of it here. So many archived files created on my Mac once copied onto my HD (or even showing up in their storage, i.e., old ZIP, or even new LaCie drives) have changed to EXE icons. Can't open them, can't go into the orig. programs to open. Wierdness.
I know an EXE file is Windows and will not work on my Mac if or unless I have Windows loaded. However, just want the files I created but don't know why the Mac OS is converting them to EXE icons!
Any assistance is appreciated as I need to retrieve and use these (some are old PageMaker, FreeHand and PhotoShop files, except for PM which I now have InDesign) all should convert or at least be recognized.

The actual icon doesn't really matter. Somehow your files are getting associated with the wrong type of program.
Get the information for one of the files. Select an appropriate program for opening the file ("open with"). Try opening it. If that works then go back and get the information for the file and this time also select "use this application to open all files of this type).

"Open with" in get info, how do I reset this?

I chose to change all (as i thought) illustrator .eps files to open with Adobe Illustrator CS2, but this now affects all .eps files including FreeHand and photoshop files. Is there any way of reseting this function?

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
To reset the application that opens any file, highlight one of the files you wish to change, go to File>Get Info, the fifth item down should be Open with: use the drop down menu to change to the application of your choice.
While you are there, you can choose to associate all documents of a like kind to open with that application - or not.

Can I just keep everything I have, max out the memory, install Mac OS Tiger on another partition and switch between it and Mac OS 9.2 which has all of my graphic software?
Yes, provided the partition to be used for OSX is formatted as Mac OS Extended (also called HFS+). OSX can not be installed on a volume formatted as Mac OS Standard.
You can use Startup Disk (control panel in OS 9, control pane in OSX's System Preferences) to switch between the two OS's.
Also do I need to upgrade to a dvd drive to install Tiger? Right now I just have the original CD Rom that came w/the computer.
Unless you have need for DVD capability for other reasons, no, you don't need to do that. Instead, you can exchange the Tiger DVDs for a set of CDs. There's a link for that in the upper middle of this page -

I just noticed you are describing your machine as a G3 rev. 1. Is it a Beige model G3? Or, is it a Blue&White G3? What is the CPU (processor) speed?
There are some limiting factors applicable to certain models of G3s.

System too helpful annoying

Is there anyway to tame the lion? I find, having moved from system OS9 recently, that I'm fighting with the computer to get things done. The auto setups are extremely annoying, they try to guess my next move and disrupt my work flow so I have to constantly figure out how to get around them. Such as: jumping screen positions. The document screen moves all over the place as I'm trying to enter information and I'm fighting to try and hold my position to get a few lines of text input into a spread sheet. Is there anyway to tame the lion and shut off all this second guessing of what I'm trying to do?
Also, I don't like this hidden saving of documents all the time. I like to make changes to a document and resave it under a new name. What's with this having to make a duplicate first, then it auto saves some place you don't want, before you can save it to the folder you want, not the one the computer wants. Very annoying. Oh, and what about this "I don't have permission" to resave a file to a folder on my own computer? Shouldn't we be able to turn all this computer control back to operator control?

Wow, you're as miserable as I am. lol. I have used a Mac performa since I purchased it many years ago. I'm still using it as it has all the software I had to purchase and will not work on the new Macs OS X. But then you know that, right? I love using my Macromedia Freehand, My Photoshop, etc that I'm not prepared to dump for a lion.
Maybe I have to trouble shoot the issues my self. ie: is it possible that when using spreadsheet programs that it's the settings on my new mouse? The slightest touch and the document I'm inputing text into moves unexpected left right and up and down. Is there a way to turn the swipe feature down to require, oh . . . . this is taking too long . . . I don't want to write a book here. The question is: Can I shut off all the automatic "guess what the user might be thinking of doing next" features?
It would be nice to just stop all the invasive suggestions and rerouting of my plans to get some work done. I suppose you spurn the idea of system OS 9, too bad as it was state of the art at the time, and there is still nothing wrong with it. I'm sure we don't need to split apple into two camps here, I just want to get some work done without interruption.

Photoshop scanned art, to Freehand file.

How do I take photoshop scanned (JPEG, TIFF?) image and copy and paste it into a Freehand 10 document? Do I need a converter? what DO I need? help anyone that can help . . .appreciate it. To explain more. . .I drew a small art logo, scanned it into Photoshop, turned it into a JPEG, and want to COPY it onto the clipboard and PASTE it into a FREEHAND 10 file to create some business cards for myself. Is this possible?

There should be no drop shadow by default so there is probably one of two things going on either 1) you have a drop shadow already applied in Photoshop or 2) you inadvertently applied a drop shadow after importing, select the raster image and check the 'Object' inspector palette, if you see 'drop shadow' in that palette just select it and click the 'trash' icon.

Freehand MX and Photoshop CS5 duotone

I used to be able to make duotones in Photoshop CS3, save as EPS, and import them into Freehand, but when I make one in CS5, it imports into Freehand as an empty box with an X through it. Is there a Photoshop setting I am missing? I tried most all of the variations in Photoshop I could find.

when you 'save as' .eps there is a dialog box that appears--you have 3 choices for a 'preview'--none, 1 bit tiff, or 8 bit tiff.
IF you are set to 'none'--you will get a box with an X in it (because there is NO preview)--see attached file--the eps on the left was saved with preview set to 'none'--the same eps with the preview set to 8 bit tiff--is on the right...when the page is printed--the images are identical.

Can I do freehand drawing in Photoshop Elements 12?

I have just brought Photoshop Elements 12 and a Creative Tablet in hoping to do a little freehand writing and drawing on my computer.
Can anyone please enlighten me as to what to do or what 'cheaper' options I have in order to do freehand writing??? I have a MacBook Pro laptop. Thanks heaps.

Yes. I am familiar with that AdobeTV tutorial. Unfortunately, the term used, "render," is a holdover from After Effects. If you listen to the early part, and observe the choice to send the Timeline's Sequence(s) to AME, you will see that the choice is "Export." This "background rendering" is NOT the Rendering of the Timeline's Sequence(s) for smoothest playback (hitting the Enter/Return key). It is for Export/Publish+Share, or outputting a file from the Timeline's Sequence(s).
As I mentioned in my previous Reply, there ARE some additional benefits to using AME w/ MPE/CUDA with certain media, and Effects. Note the mention of the nVidia Quadro cards for maximum quality, with little slowdown, regardless of the pop-up warning.
Where AME comes into play, with PrPro, is that while it is outputting (Exporting/Publishing+Sharing) the file, PrPro is still active for additional editing. With an overnight output, there is no need to do other editing, as the computer is only involved in one operation - outputting the Timeline's Sequence(s).
Also, as noted in the tutorial, one can load AME's queue with the required Sequence(s), and then do multiple output files, to different formats/CODEC's, all in one operation. That is useful, where one needs to deliver several variations of the same Sequence - something that PrE cannot do - it's one format/setting, at a time.
Hope that this clarifies what AME is being used for, and what it's doing. The potential for confusion on "Rendering" vs "rendering" is obvious. As "Rendering" is a term used in Premiere (both Pro & Elements), for creating files (proxy files, if you will) for smoothest playback of a Timeline/Sequence, to use the term "rendering," from After Effects (and some other common NLE programs), is probably not the ultimate choice here.

I just upgraded my Photoshop from CS to CS2 (Mac). I quickly
noticed that when I cut and paste a shape from FH MX to PS CS2 the
shape comes in very jagged. This is a problem that does not occur
when importing to PS CS. Anyone else experience this? If so, do you
know of a work around?

Whenever copying, you need to know exactly which format(s)
your program is
coping to the clipboard. This is controlled by preferences.
In FH, export
preferences can be overridden by Copy Special.
If you are pasting from Illustrator to FH, make sure you have
the
Illustrator clipboard preferences set to AICB (not PDF).
What are you copying from FH? Vector paths? Pixels? If you
are pasting RGB
pixels from FH into Photoshop, in FH Export Preferences,
uncheck PICT and
set colors to 'Photoshop 4/5'.
