TREO 650 SD Card Not Showing On Desktop

MIssing Sync 6.05b installed but showing as 6.0.4
Treo 650
I have an 8 MG Panasonic SD Card installed in the slot. Syncing iPhoto to the Treo works fine.
It was my impression that the handheld SD card should show on the Desktop when the handlehld is connected by the USB cable. It is not. Disk Utility is unable to find the hanheld card either however if the card is inserted into my camera it is recognised.
Am i wrong to assume that the card should appear on the Desktop? Am I missing something?

Unfortunately the 650 cannot show the SD card on the desktop of your computer. This is also the same for Windows PC's. To move pictures to the SD card you can use quick install and drag and drop into the storage card part of the application. Then close it and on the next hotsync it will sync over to the device but place it in your SD card.

Since the update to Mountain Lion, the SD slot does not show up in Finder.
Someone gave a fix using the killall in Terminal, and that worked only once. I have not been able to get that fix to work again.
The only saving grace for me is that my SD Card us is always from my Nikon camera, and Nikon ViewNX 2 software is able to see and read from the card.
Killall may have worked partially in that I no longer get the error message telling me that I have removed the SD card improperly, and need to dismount it first.
However, Finder still cannot see it.

Does the card show up in System Information? Or is that another one of the "basics" you've already looked into?
Does it show up in Disk Utility? If so, have you tried formatting it there to determine if it is a formatting problem?

Trying to back up data for genius bar appointment, but external harddrive is not showing on desktop.

USB drives not showing on desktop

Hi there,
Whenever I insert a device into my usb ports (camera, thumb drive, iPod) it no longer shows up on my desktop. Though the device is still recognized by iTunes, iPhoto, and in disk utility. I have also made sure the boxes are checked in the Finder properties.
Any help would be appreciated, I would like to have these items show on the desktop again.

Ahhh. SD cards are another matter and will show up with the correct settings in the Finder Prefs. But simply connecting a camera does not automatically mean it will show up. If on the other hand the user has left an SD card in the camera, then in most cases, if the correct Finder Prefs have been set, then the cad will show up on the desktop - but NOT the camera. Take the card out. The camera will likely not show up even if it has internal memory. Cheers!

SD or CF cards not showing up in Finder

Hello all. I edit with FCP and always have created images of my SD and CF cards. When ready to edit I mount and import. I have noticed lately that I do not see the image of the card once mounted in finder. I see it in my desktop and disk utility but not in finder. I can mount anything else like a program and shows up find in finder. I went ahead and used my reader and put in an SD card. Same thing. I used another reader, same thing as well. Any suggestions on how I can get the card to show up in finder? Thanks

On the General Tab I do have external disks checked and in Sidebar, the card does not show up. I did check the overall computername and within I see the card, but does not show up on sidebar.

Treo 680 Dial Pad not working after desktop update

I was a Zire 72 user.
I bought a Treo 690. As manual said, I installed Palm Desktop over my old Zire PD.
Everythings works fine but two problems.
1- The dial pad does not show the numbers for dial anymore.
When I press the dial pad, nothing happens. If I use the 5 way navigator, I can switch between all the other 4 tabs, but it acts like the dial pad tab does not exist.
2- Contacts were not updated ion my phone. I guess it's because I'm synchronizing with outlook 2007. Should I install 2007 conduit updater?
I'm thinking it would be better to uninstall PDesktop, reset my palm and start installing each application one by one.

You can uninstall current version of Skype from the control Panel and you can install Special Version.
http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-sse
and disable automatic updating of Skype.
In Skype, Tools >> Options >> Advanced >> Automatic updates >> Click on Turn off automatic updates >> Save Changes.

Downloaded apps do not show up desktop iTunes 8.0.1.11

I just recently got a first generation Ipod touch. When I hook it up to my itunes on my desktop, it shows up and I can transfer music extra on it.
But when I go to the Itunes Apps Store on the desktop and choose to buy an application, it buys it and says its downloading it. But after downloading it does not show up in the apps section of my itunes (desktop). And when I check the directory "C:\Documents and Settings\myusername\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Mobile Applications" it is blank with the directory inside it - C:\Documents and Settings\anish\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Mobile Applications\Downloads\applicationname.tmp
iTunes did not create the ipa files in the Mobile Applications directory at all. So I can't sync an application to the touch, as iTunes sees no application as there is no .ipa file of the application.
But if I go to apps store via the touch and buy it - it then downloads and installs it, and then I can sync it via touch to desktop easily.
But why can't I buy applications on the desktop iTunes and have it sync with my touch.
I have even deleted all the sync histories, backups and even completely restored my touch - (its running 2.1). Still the same issues.
I do not how to solve this.
If anyone can help me - that would be great.

I just tested a fresh new install of itunes (latest 8.0.1.11) on another computer, authorized it and I did not connect touch to it. I just went to app store and bought a free app. And the same issue happened - it downloads the apps and stores the files in its temp folder, but does not process and create the ipa application file. And it does not show up in the my application section of itunes either.
Could there be a problem with the latest version of itunes. I am absolutely running out of ideas...
Can anybody confirm this bug or issue?

PS - One application did process completely was the nytimes.com application. Out of everything else - only this one did work.

Classic not showing on desktop - but it is in system profiler

I have an iPod classic that is showing up in my system profiler, but not on my desktop. The face of the unit says that it is connected - but iTunes will not recognize it.

Hard drive will not show on desktop?

Please can someone help? when i connect my iomega ego HDD to my macbook pro it does not show on the desktop and i can not access it? i have gone to FINDER and the preferences say it will show. I have gone to the SYSTEM PROFILER and it shows as connected in the USB as a High speed Bus - Iomega ego HDD (so i know its working) also i have gone to DISK UTILITY and it registers as 500 GB external raid.
Does anyone know how i can access my hard drive?

I would suggest if there is no important data (or data that cannot be moved to another device) to erase the external and reformat the drive.
System Profiler can see it which is a good sign and is recognizing the HDD, but reformatting it can often correct many of these issues with drives mounting and showing up for use.

External Mounted Hard Drive Icon Not Showing on Desktop nor on Sidebar

I have a portable drive that does NOT show up in the Sidebar nor on the Desktop. The only way I can see and navigate through it is by clicking in Disk Utility > Mount Point: <hyper-link>
Then hard drive icon and its content show up fine. But the HD icon is slightly dimmed (it is paler than the all other - HD, computer, etc - icons).
I verified the external HD and it is just fine. I have another eDrive (TechTool Pro 4) partition and it shows up like any normal HDs normally does.
How can I get the icon to show up back into the Sidebar and the Desktop?
Is there a "Preference" file I need to throw out?
Is there a UNIX command I could execute to make it show up again?

Open the Script Editor in the /Applications/AppleScript/ folder and run the following:

External Hard Drive not showing on desktop

Hi,
I'm using a macbook pro, 15", and have been using it with my external hard drive for the past 2 months.
This afternoon, I was using the external, where i have all my music and photos stored, and it was working fine. I left the computer on sleep for about 2 hours (all programs that have stuff on the external I made sure to quit before), and when I got back the "icon" for the back up disk was slightly more "invisible" on my desktop and time machine informed me that the latest back up failed. When I tried to eject it (nothing on the disk was being used) it said it couldnt be ejected because the disk was in use.
I tried to eject again, same thing, so I restarted the computer. When I restarted the computer the external harddrive icon did not show up on my desk top. I tried pulling it out and plugging it in a few times, the disk will start up, but not load onto my desk top.
HELP!!!

Running Disk Repair will not harm your data, the idea is to repair and make it functional again.
If successful I would make a back up of that data because you may be skating on thin ice.

Hi Peter - thanks for responding - yes I did install the latest drivers - but finally found a thread that solved the issue. Turns out Blackmagic installs the drivers in its own Adobe folder - but Adobe only wants to see them in its own special folder (Application Support>Common>Adobe). Once I moved everything from the one folder to the other, then Premiere could see the card just fine. They should be definitely look at a better way of dealing with this - so it doesn't become an emergency science project for people like me.
Anyway, case closed - for now. Thanks.
