Treo 680 won't power up! HELP!

My 680 was working fine last week.  I woke up Friday and turned the screen on but it was frozen.  The time was showing 12:15 am and it was about 5 am.  I couldn't get it to respond so I removed the battery and replaced it.  The Palm logo came up & the bar was moving across the bottom.  When it got to the end my screen went black!  It did this about 5 or 6 times.  Now it won't do ANYTHING!  PLEASE HELP!  When I plug it up, the charge light (red) comes on.  That is it's only sign of life.  I took it to my local AT&T store and they tried a new battery but had the same response...Logo with loading bar across the bottom, then BLACK!  I have never had problems with this phone and it was working perfectly the night before.  Thanks for your help!

  • Treo 680 won't sync calendar and contacts but everything else OK

I  bought a Treo 680 off of Ebay. It is unlocked.  ATT phone but I use T-Mobile.  PHone works just fine but I can't use the Palm organizer for calendar or contacts.   I have hard reset several times.  WHen I do everything works except the contacts and calendar.  When I push those buttons or try to open those apps the Treo immediately resets and never opens up the app.
    OS of  Mac?       10.5.6
    Using  Palm desktop
Version of Palm Desktop    4.2.1, Hot SYnc 5.4.0
    Version of your device?  TREO680-1.09-ATT
Is this a software problem?  DO I not have the right software in the computer?  DOes Treo not work with Mac OS 10.5?
Also how is it possible to sync with Entourage?  I use that for email and see that others sync it to their phone to read emails.
    Thank you

I followed your advice on another post.  Took out the battery and pressed teh red power button until the black line went all the way through to end and pressed the English language button.
I think I solved teh problem though it is not elegant.  I created a new user name and everything little that it was in the new calendar and on the Palm synched perfectly.  Then I copied my old user data, replaced it in the new user id folder.  Some stuff came through, some did not.  WHat I have found is in the contacts, if I just click on the contact and put it in a category it syncs next time with the Palm.  WIth the calendar in the conduit settings I told it to go from Mac to Handheld and everything came through.
If you have any other advise I would appreciate it.  Especially how to sync with Entourage since I now use that as my email program.
    Thanks

  • My old macbook won't power up - help please!

I have an ancient macbook, from around 2006, and it's been chugging along just fine.  Suddenly, it just won't power up at all!  Power adaptor shows a green light at plug in, so the cord is working, but no fan sounds, no lights, nothing when I try starting.  I've tried that SMC reset, but still nothing.
Is there anything else I can try?  If not, does anyone know if a good apple repair shop should be able to recover my data?  I've been an idiot and haven't done a back up in a few years.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide!  I'm going to purchase a new macbook air, but REALLY need my data from the old one if at all possible, so hoping I can get it started and/or have a repair person salvage the data.

  • Treo 680 won't sync with Exchange

I had a 680 that died and got a replacement under the factory warranty.  The new one arrived and is unable to sync with my Exchange server.  I have the username and password and server address all identical to the older phone (running older software.)  I keep getting AirSAMStateMachine.c 1913 103 error, which appears to be related to certificates (according to the forums.)  I beg to differ because several colleagues have recently upgraded their Palm software to match mine and they can still sync with our Exchange server.  I need an honest-to-goodness real-life solution please!  I've messed with settings, tried with and without SSL, performed soft resets on my phone after importing the certificate exported from our mail server, deleted the account on my phone, created a new one...on and on and on.  Palm continues to waste DAYS of my productivity and this is just another instance where the product just doesn't work and the messages are so vague and the support is so non-existent that I have no clue where to turn.  I'm hoping these forums can provide some insight.  Everything synced up fine with my old phone.
    Thanks for your time.

After 2 hours on chat with a technician and an hour on the phone with another technician, I finally got bumped up to Tier 2.  We established that I had to DELETE my Exchange account and start over.  I burned an entire day on this but that is what fixed my problem.  The error I was continually getting was "103 - Data too large"  Even though my old phone synced up just fine and even though I could sync a colleague's 1000+ item inbox, I couldn't sync my 11 item inbox.  Get a new phone = delete your Exchange account and start all over.  I'm glad I don't have to buy a new car everytime I need new tires.  Thanks, Palm, for not needing to know the cause of the problem (my data was NOT too large), just the painful solution (who doesn't like to delete their Exchange account?)
I can't wait to switch to Windows Mobile.

  • Speed dials, "no connection," won't power down - HELP!

I just got the GS3 five days ago.  It was working great until last night.  All of a sudden, it doesn't recognize my speed dials beyond #9.  I have deleted 10-16 and reassigned them twice to no avail.  Also, the screen won't shut off after the designated amount of time.  Each time, the screen dims like it's going to shut down, then while dim, a bubble pops up saying, "No connection. Check that you are connected to the internet." then brightens back up and it's the same cycle over and over again.  Does anyone have any idea what might be happening?

I figured out the problems: 1) speed dial requires you to do a long press on the last digit.  I was confused because if I pushed a single button (1-9), the speed dial assignment would pop up on the screen, whereas anything after 9 (10+) wouldn't register on the screen.  2) Dice with Buddies is the culprit for the repeated "no connection" pop up.  I had to 'force stop' that app to avoid that app constantly messing with my phone.

  • HP Envy laptop won't power up - HELP :(

Laptop was working with no issue one day, then yesterday I tried to start up my computer (which must've powered off on its own as I did not shut it down) and NOTHING . When I try to power up nothing happens, no fans, no clicking - nothing. The light beside the power cord is solid white. Troubleshooting thus far:removed battery and did hard reset = nothingremoved battery and attempted to power up = nothingtried a different power cord = nothingHas anyone got any ideas? Pretty desperate as this is my work computer and EVERYTHING is on it

Hello tianhuat. I understand you're having some problems getting your notebook to power up. Try the following.
Remove the battery and AC power from the notebook.
Press and hold the power button for 20-30 seconds. This discharges the capacitors on the motherboard.
    Replace battery and AC power.
Try to boot the notebook and post the result.
Are you also getting a blinking CAPS LOCK or NUM LOCK pattern?
Please click the white star under my name to give me Kudos as a way to say "Thanks!"
Click the "Accept as Solution" button if I resolve your issue.

Hello toxicpalm and welcome to the Palm forums.
Have you tried soft resetting the Palm while it is connected to the charger?  Open the battery door, and remove the battery.  Connect the charger and then reinsert the battery.  The Palm should wake up.  If it does come on, I would let the Palm change up for a good 15 minutes before using it.
    Hope that helps,

  • Treo 680 Camera update released by Palm helps greatly with battery life

If you have not installed this update yet, it is HIGHLY recommended that you do so. It is located:
    http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/treo/680cameraupdate.html
And is for *ALL* Treo 680 users.
Post relates to: Treo 700p (Sprint)

Folks from Palm do monitor THESE forums especially, and there is a way that us moderators can bring things to their attention here now (unlike the older forums).
The problem here, as I see it (and yes, I have both my 700p and a 680) is that in order to make a thin, GSM phone to sell for $199, they used a smaller battery:
1800mAh(top) vs 1200mAh(bottom) battery, which translates into less battery life (33% with the basic same underlying functionality). And for folks that use the heck out of them (points to self) this will not be enough. So... I charge more often, and have a spare that I keep in the cradle, charged. And I do the meat of my email on the 700p (which also gets charged daily and on heavy email days twice a day; or plugged into the USB port, see tips below).
Palm has given tips on extending this as much as possible (turn off BT, minimal timeout, etc, etc) but basically its a tiny battery. Add to this fact that GSM radios tend to draw more power and UGH... bad battery life. Folks that use the heck out of a phone will not be happy (nor would they be happy if they were doing the same things on say, the new sexy tiny BLahzor or whatever its called, and yes.... That battery is even smaller).
I'd also like to note that Cingular (or any carrier) won't sell a product that didn't meet their minimum requirements, ie talk time, standby, etc.
There is a third party company making a larger battery, and I'd expect as battery technology gets better we'll see replacements that work even better. However I doubt you'll see a tiny battery on a used a lot device ever have "good" battery life.
One final set tips: get a HS cable when you're near your computer and plug in the phone... even a quick 30 min trickle charge will keep you going longer. Get a car charger, or an extra battery and cradle. If you are using Email, set the auto sync frequency longer than 5 mins: 15 mins vs 5 means that your radio is on up to 66% less with respect to data traffic.
To close, I'm sure if Palm discovers anything they can do to extend the battery life on the 680's, they will pass that along....

I can see if we can get your phone back on! I understand how important it is to have a phone. Have you tried this to see if we can get it back on? http://vz.to/1DZhteH . If it is still goes to a red Verizon screen and then to black we might need to do a master reset. While the phone is off try this:http://vz.to/1DZhXkU Be mindful this is the last resort because it will erase everything on the phone. If you have done back up assistant in the past you will be able to get you contacts back. Please let me know if you need any more help.

  • Treo 680 on Vista - Sync trouble when changing from Beta to new system! Help!

I have had my Treo 680 for about a year now. When I got it I found that the wonderful people at Palm never configured it to ruhn on Vista which had already been around for about 2 years at the time. Consequently, I never could use all the features ( certain media, etc.) because I had to run the Beta system. Additionally, the people at Palm told me when I called last year that the error messages I get after syncing were just something I'd have to get used to.
Fast forward to today. I go to the Palm site and I see that Beta has been replaced by a system that works with Vista. As I write this right now, I am in the process of syncing and it is stuck on " sycronizing Date Book". I have already tried reinstalling the new Vista version and re syncing again. What should I do to get this thing to work. For five cents, I'd go buy a new G phone from T Mobile and just switch over via importing data to Outlook which I currently don't use and the be done with Palm, ... but I can't even do that because I can't sync the Palm unit anymore with my PC!!!  Any help is appreciated.

DbFixIt is a database scan and repair program that can be found by doing a google seach and clicking on the first result that appears. It's made by Pimlico and after you down load the trial. You'll need to install it to the device. Unzip it and then double click the .prc file. You should get a message that it will be install during the next sync. Then you need to disable the Calendar conduit. Right click the hotsync icon just the the left of your computer clock. Goto settings, the Applications. Locate Datebook or Calendar (Or both) And uncheck them.
Then try to sync. This will install the program on the device if the sync completes. Locate the program on the 680 and open it. Once it opens click the top left hand corner and select Delete Calendar blobs. Once that's done you can run the Easy scan, it should tell you what calendar events are 'bad'. Then you can fix them manually. If you want to program to fix them automatically then you'll need to buy it.

  • Please Help! My iPhone 4 won't power on!

iPhone 4, out of warranty coverage, won't power on.
        1.    It has about 60% battery before it dead, but suddenly it became black screen and not responsive (like powered off).
        2.    Whatever I did, like "holding the power button and home button together for 10-25 sec and then pressing the power button again" etc. it just won't power on, no Apple logo!
        3.    But I can seen the "emergancy call" screen when I plugged it with my laptop and it just told me "No Service" at the upper left corner (status bar of iPhone 4).
        4.    iTunes can see it, but only when it was in Recovery mode or DFU mode.
        5.    I also tried to restore it to factory settings in iTunes, but it always gives me an error with various error codes, like 2001, 2006, etc. I also tried restore it under Windows or Mac, but was out of luck too!
        6.    Finally I bought a iPhone 4 battery replacement and replaced the old one with the new one, but nothing changed as if it wasn't replaced its original battery.
        7.    It keeps rebooting at every 10 min or so when It was plugged into my laptop without any operations (pressing any buttons).
        8.    It can be "powered on" only when it was plugged into a computer. It will IMMEDIATELY be in "dead mode" as long as I disconnect it from the computer (like taking out a battery from an iPhone that is powered on)!
        9.    Everything worked fine before it dead, I don't know what happened to it! I am so frustrated!
Please help! Thank you so much!

    USB Problem, possibly bad Cable.
I misread your original post "It keeps rebooting at every 10 min or so when It was plugged into my laptop".
I thought you had a boot loop problem, but you say "rebooting when plugged into laptop" this is not the typical boot loop problem, because you had the iPhone connected to laptop.
Connected by what, obvioulsy a USB Cable, Error 2006, is most often due to faulty USB Cable.
Clean that Dock Port Very Well especially with Isopropyll Alcohol, get a good USB Cable, try a different USB port on computer, or try a different computer.

  • I have a macbook and when I power it on and then select myself as a user...It won't power up. It stays in the white screen with the apple logo. I am online currently under 'guest user'. Is there anything I can do from the keyboard to fix this??? Help!!!

I have a macbook and when I power it on and then select myself as a user...It won't power up. It stays in the white screen with the apple logo. I am online currently under 'guest user'. Is there anything I can do from the keyboard to fix this??? Help!!!

Could you specify the model of MacBook and the OS X it's running, please? Some of the advice or references vary along with the system, so this could be helpful to formulate a reply. I've never used a Guest User selection, but do have more than one User.
If the computer does not have an optical drive, you may be able to boot it into a recovery disk mode or something; in an attempt to see what is wrong and maybe fix it.
    Good luck & happy computing!

Where did you get the ROM update file? I have not seen a RO1.92 update. Is this a hacked ROM update? Has the phone been hacked?
This is the link to the update for the Treo 680 unlocked using a memory card for install. The sync update link is not working at this time.
    http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/na/treo/680/unlocked/solutions/article/10837_en.html
Is this the page you got the download from?
I see there is no serial number listed in your screen shot, that is not normal.
You can try a hard reset to resolve the issue. The hard reset will erase all data on the device. Make sure you sync to the PC to backup your data.
Click on the following link to the kb.palm.com webpage for the article regarding reset procedures
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=887
When you update the ROM, you cannot revert back to a previous version. This ususlly results in  a "brick" phone.

  • Help! Macbook Pro won't power up!

    Hi, I have a new 2011 MBP 15" (1.5 months old).
When its up and running it works fine, and I'm able to shut down and restart it normally. As soon as I leave it off for more than a few hours (usually this happens overnight when I shut down the computer before going to bed)
The next morning the computer won't power up at all. When I press the power button I can hear something whirring/spinning and then 3-5 secs later the power just cuts off. The screen doesn't even light up, I don't get to hear the apple chime at all. Repeated attempts to power up the system get this same result.
I suspected it was due to cold weather (winter in Perth now). I find that every cold morning if i warmed up my macbook placing it near the heater, it will be able to boot normally after it has warmed up. But if ever the machine gets a chance to cool down, it goes into a coma? This happens when I put the mac to sleep and am away from it for more than an hour, it won't wake up!
This is so dissapointing to come from a product that comes at such a premium price. I hope I can get some help on this! It's really really frustrating.
I am reset the PRAM and SMC several times and they dont seem to do the trick. I ran the apple hardware tests, even in extended mode and they all detect no problems. Hellpppp

How cold is cold where your MBP is? In any case take it to an Apple store or AASP. If none availanle call AppleCare.
