Treo 750 & minisd problem, encryption data recovery

Hello to All,
I have suffered from a terrible combination of failures. I have a Treo 750 with WM6, and the sd detection failed a couple of times but no big deal, one day it stopped recognizing the minisd and the worst is that important data was present and the sd encryption was activated.  How can I recover that information, is there any way to recover they key on the treo to decrypt the information?.  The minisd is fine, I can connect it to my laptop but the information is useless.  I have not hard reset the treo in order to prevent any data lost.  Somewhere I read that the key is stored on the rom but it is only readable by software with the rights to do it, i don't know what does that mean.
Please Help me out!

If your device will not recognize the sd card and the data is encrypted, there is no way to recover the files.
The encryption key is stored in the ROM of the device and there is no way to recover the key for decrypting.
At this point you may want to try a 10 second soft reset to see if the device will recognize the card. This reset will not erase any data and it is similar to doing a shutdown on a PC.
Take out the battery for at least 10 seconds. Insert the battery and then see if it will recognize the card.

Have you tried to manually download the IPSW and do a custom restore? If that does not work, change the cable out, or try plugging it into a different USB port. This will need to be done in DFU mode. Or you can try iPhone Data Recovery software.

  • Data Recovery from Partitioned and formatted Bit Locker Encrypted Drive

Recently because of some issues in windows 7 installation from windows 8 installed OS. it was giving as the disc is dynamic windows can not be installed on it. so at last after struggling hard no other solution i partitioned and formatted my whole
drive so all data gone included the drive which was encrypted by bit lockers.
For recovery i used many software such as ontrack easy recover, get data back, recovery my files professional edition but still i couldnt able to recover my data from that drive. then i found some suggestion Using CMD to decrypt my data first
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee523219(WS.10).aspx
where it shows it successfully decrypt my data at that moment my drives were in RAW format excluding on which windows is installed and then in CMD i check Chdsk which also shows no problem found. but now problem is still i coudnt able to recover
my data then i format the drive D and again tried to recover data using above software after decryption still no result.
Now i need assistance how i can recover my encrypted drive as it was partitioned and also formatted but decrypted also as i have its recovery key too. thanks

    Hi ,
I am afraid that we cannot get the data back if the drive has been formatted even if use the
    BitLocker Repair Tool.
You’d better contact your local data recovery center to try to get data back.

Hello and thank you for using the Palm Help Forums!
You can try a hard reset to resolve this issue. A hard reset will erase all data on the device and restore settings back to default. For further information and instructions on resets please visit kb.palm.com and look up article number 43146 in the Solution I.D. search field.
Once a hard reset has been completed successfully and the device is restored, see if you are still experiencing the same problems with the microphone. If the problems still exsists you have a hardware issue and you will want to seek repair or replacement methods.
I hope this information is useful and please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

  • Treo 750, again another sob story, didn't back up my data!!!

I know better but didn't activesync my treo 750 for the last 4 or 5 months. Many reasons, supposedly activesync only let's you back up to 2 computers, I got a 3rd computer, starting using it primarily. I'm a realtor and turns out that our supra ekey that allows me to open lockboxes on homes caused my treo to crash while trying to enter a home. I have now discovered this is a known problem with this 3rd party software. I am in a reboot mode similar to that of Diego's, a past poster. All I want is the new contact information from the last 5 months. I entered all of it from the phone and I find it hard to believe that data is not retreivable from somewhere in there.
I have tried multiple soft resets, tried doing an activesync on one of the old computers, tried the solution offered to Diego by ??Cola?? of taking out the sim card and then trying to reboot.
    Thanks for your help,

Thank you all.... I can no longer wait for a fix on the treo 750.  I have lost my data for the last 5 months, but I think that it is not my client data, it is contractor data. I will survive. I have used a palm since 1996, I don't even remember their names. I had a Palm 3, was that one? I had a Palm V, maybe a Palm Vx. I had weird phones that were the first to have palm built into them, Ericson huge device, etc. Everything palm...  The graveyard at my house is huge!!!
Traitor!!! I bought an Iphone last week. So far I am happy, happy, happy!!! I have not synced yet, and praying that I can get the data from Outlook on my computer to the iphone, but the Iphone is really slick.
My advice to anyone who is a realtor. Use your phone as a phone and contact database. Don't use your phone to sync with the MLS. The MLS software (specifically rapatonni/supra ge key) can cause crashes on your phone.
For cygnusX1, yes i did multiple warm resets, no breaking from any loop. The only thing that worked was a hard reset, and the phone has been passed on to my son, who had a freebie AT&T phone, although he wished he had an Iphone, he is still really happy to have the Treo  750 which is miles ahead of his freebie phone.
    Thanks for everyone's help.

  • Problem with syncing Treo 750

I just got an AT&T Treo 750 and am trying to set it up for syncing with my disktop computer running Windows XP Pro, SP3.
First, I am not an Outlook user, but figured out that I had to install that software to use ActiveSync. Second, I am not planning on using my 750 for email, and am only interested in syncing my Contacts, Calendar, and Tasks. It appeared that I did have to set up the 750 for email to get thngs started with ActiveSync, so I did that, too. Now when I attempt to sync I get this MS message:
Cannot syncronize with the Outlook profile you are using, because a different profile was previously set up or the profile is password-protected. Please open Outlook using the appropriate profile. Support Code: 8503001f
What do I need to do to get the 750 and my computer to sync?
Second question: Is there any other syncing software I can use other than Outlook?
    Thanks - John

Sorry I didn't respond sooner. If the data is gone from your 750 and was never in outlook there is nothing I can do . But if you have your old device and are using Palm Desktop 4.1.4e we can get the data back to outlook so you can sync your data back to the 750.
Post back if you do not have Palm Desktop 4.1.4e
If you do great. All you need to do is go to Start-->Programs/All Programs-->Palm/Palmone-->PIM Conduit Sync--> Sync with Outlook. If it says you are already to sync with Outlook then good if not let it do its thing. After this what you need to do next is right click on the Hotsync Manager go to custom then click on Calendar and select change then select handheld overwrites desktop. Do the same for contacts, tasks, and memos.
Post back if you have more questions.

  • I would like to know if anyone in has experienced problems with Stellar Phoenix Data Recovery and if I have ultimately fallen for a scam?

I had accidentally deleted important files from my hard drive and emptied them from my trash can on my MacBook Pro. I sought a variety of data recvery packages but none were really successful apart from one - the now infamous Stellar Phoenix Mac Data Recovery Version 6.0. Upon using what I was led to believe was a trial version, the files I was looking for could in fact be found. However, in order to recover them I had to purchase a £94.80 licence. In deperatation I chose to do this. Upon attempting to recover the files, I went to check the location I saved them into and low and behold there was a folfer called a 'Root' Folder which was completely EMPTY.
Stellar Phoenix have done little except take the money and run
I would greatly appreciate it if you alert me to free data recovery options as I dont want to be scammed by unreliable apple 3rd party providers.

It sounds like that your drive is corrupted. You should try to format it for fixing this problem.
But, to recover your original data, you are supposed to run a hard disk recovery software at first and format this disk afterwards for saving the physical drive. This free one can retrieve your data completely as it helps my friend restore all his data. Go get it there: http://goo.gl/wQW0Ur
Add some tips: You should not rewrite your wanted data with any new file in case of data loss.
You should back up your important data all the time on a different drive in the future.
    Hope it works.

  • Problem with Activesync on treo 750/outlook

I've always had problems trying to sync via usb since I purchased my 750 12 months ago, although this time I'm unable to sync at all after 4 days of trying. the xp pro sp3 side seems ok (it tries to sync but cant) any ideas please Taffy
Post relates to: Treo 750 (Cingular)

Have you tried another USB port?
Another thing to try would be to uninstall ActiveSync, delete the Microsoft ActiveSync folder under program files then reinstall activesync and try to sync again. (Trying both with and without Advance networking checked.)

  • How can i delete all data from treo 750 - where is the hard reset button for the treo 750

I'm giving my phone to my brother and want to delete all my data from the treo 750 (AT&T).  All the other posts I read doesn't tell me where the reset button is.  Please Help!
Post relates to: Treo 750 (AT&T)

Hello and welcome to the Palm forums.
A hard reset wipes everything off your device. A hard reset is performed by holding down the power/end call button while removing the battery from your device for a few seconds. Keep your hand on the power/end call button until you put the battery back into your device. After you put the battery back in, the screen will say "Palm Powered." Take your hand off the power/end call button. You will now see a screen in 5 languages prompting you to erase all data from the palm. The screen will say "erase all data? Yes - up, no - down" and you need to click on the up arrow (button on the 5 way navigator on the bottom of the treo). This will erase all the info from your device.
    I hope this was helpful!

  • Treo 750 battery icon problem

Does anyone know how to fix the battery icon.  I charge the phone for over 4 hours and it still shows an exclaimation point and 0% full.  Phone seems to be working, is this a battery issue?
Post relates to: Treo 750 (AT&T)

Try a 10 second soft reset by taking out the battery for at least 10 seconds. This allows the device to power off completely, like a shutdown on a PC.
If that doesn't fix the issue, try a hard reset which will get the device back to factory condition. The hard reset will erase all data on the device so you will need to do a sync. to backup the data.

  • Time Machine drive files after data recovery.....permissions problem?

Client had a hard drive crash, and then turned out her Time Machine drive was bad. We ran a data recovery on the Time Machine drive, which produced about 40GB of disk images...12 in all. There is a very promising image which shows the user folders, and we can click on hers and see her folders. BUT...when we try to open Documents, we get a message that
"Item "Documents" is in use by Mac OS X and cannot be opened"
Would there be an override of permissions or some such available to take a peek inside and hopefully pull files?
    Thanks to all in advance.

A general look at backup files......

Look on the side of the card and see if the lock is set to "on" or "lock".
If the card is not locked it should format in the Treo.
You can also format the SD card in a PC using a card reader using FAT32 format.

  • Using Bitlocker Data Recovery Agent (DRA) on Surface Pro 3

We currently have the Data Recovery Agent (DRA) configured in our Bitlocker Policy for our Windows 7 Systems, and it works fine. In situations where the Recovery Key for the computer object was not backed up to AD correctly for whatever reason or the computer
object was deleted, our HelpDesk can connect the encrypted drive to another system, and then use the certificate for the DRA to unlock the drive.
I'm wondering if the BitLocker DRA Certificate unlock method will work for Surface Pro 3 devices, in the case that that their computer object and normal BitLocker recovery key is deleted or missing in AD for whatever reason. Seeing as how our helpdesk can't
easily remove the internal HD from a Surface Pro 3 (I think only MS can do this?), I'm wondering if this BitLocker recovery option is still an option for Surface Pro 3's and if it is not then if there is another recommended option for Surface Pro 3's and/or
other Windows 8.1 Tablets used in an enterprise environment.

Could anyone help me to figure this out? Thanks.
Seems that the problem lies in libinput. Maybe you can report that upstream. I suggest you recompile libinput with debug info and do not strip the binaries to obtain better backtraces.
    Edit:
I have also tried running `swc-launch -- velox`, and get the following error:
    Running on /dev/tty2
velox: error while loading shared libraries: libinput.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    Server exited with status 127
    Restoring VT to original state
So, perhaps I am having some libinput trouble. Does this seem correct?
Well, that's a different problem. libinput has several soname bumps because of API and ABI incompatibility. You have to rebuild swc against the newest libinput. (Although I'm not sure if swc developer updated the code to new API)
    Edit 2:
Just to tack this on here for `gnome-session --session=gnome-wayland --debug`
I'm not expert on this, it may be related to libinput problem. If you don't include GDK_BACKEND=wayland environment variable when launching gnome-wayland.

  • Encrypting Data on part of a file system.

A few months ago, using hints I found on the internet, I was able to use diskutil command line utililty to create an encrypted partition of the same sort as when turning FileVault on in Security Preferences.  File Vault doe not appear to offer a way to choose some pargt of the disk storage such as an entire drive of a folder on a drive.  I was able to do it and it worked.  When I mount the disk partition to the system (usualy by plugging it in and turning it on), I'm asked for the security pass phrase or key to decrypt it.  Once mounted with the key supplied, I can access it as any other mounted disk with the type of access restrictions that might be present on any disk.Since I want the data to be truly privatem U decline to put the key into the a known place such as the keychain.  I don't want just anyone who has a log on to this iMac to b e able to read this data.  I want them to need to enter a private key to mount the data.
My only problem with this is the hoops I needed to go through to do this.  It is complicated and invovlves setting up special partitions for the purpose.
Searching Finder help for encrypting data it offered a solution for data on a removable drive.  The stepsare very simple and easy to do:
       a) Mount the files to be encrypted if they are not  online.  They also need to be in a folder or even an entire partition.
        b) Open Disk Utility (GUI version)
c)Choose File > New > Disk Image From Folder (or New-> Disk Image ffrom a Device).
        d) Select the folder or disk you want to encrypt.
        e) A save dialog will pop up.  Select the name of the archive you wish to create and select a location.  I choose a removable disk partition which has enouh space.  Select Compressed if you wish.  Then Select Encryption and choose the key size for encryption from the drop dwon.  When you click Save, Disk Utility begins creating a disk image that is (possibly) compressed and probably encrypted.  Once done, the files in the folder or partiion are hiddent behind the encryption.  To get to them, you much open the DMG file and supply the password to unlock the encryption.  You can save the key in the keychain if you are not worreid about who can get in.  If you wish to restrict access to fewer people, keep the key secret and provide a recovery mechanism that is suitable for you need.
       f)  One the archive is created, the disk partition containing it may b4 mounted on the system (if it is not there already) and by opening the dmg file you will be asked for the key.  The system will validate that the key works and the encryption and comprewssion are working.  The archive will be mounted as a virual disk.  It can be accessed by any useer of that computer unless the file permissions get in the way.  Mounting it only when the computer is being used by authorized people allow you to mount and dismount the archive for use during a limited time.
I have a couple of questions here.  Is there an easier way to do this?  Is this encryption as strong as that used in FileVault?

No. I don't know why it would not be, except it is easier for a person to leave the disk mounted where anyone can then see it. With FileVault forcing a password on wake from sleep, it will likely be encrypted if anyone found it.
I'm not sure why you went to the trouble you did before, except the instructions might have been to create an encrypted partition as opposed to creating the disk image. Disk images have been around for at least a decade.
If you plan on backing up the image with Time Machine, use a sparse bundle disk image as it will write the data to small files, called stripes. Only the stripes that change get backed up instead of the entire image.
