Treo 90 Hotsync Confirmation

Hi,
I read through http://forums.palm.com/t5/Windows-HotSync/Windows-7-and-Vista-hotsync-instructions-here/td-p/251755/... and still can't confirm if it's going to work for a Treo 90.  I also can't find any previous threads that address a Treo 90 specifically.
I have thus far successfully installed & imported Memo & Address into Palm Desktop 6.2.2. using a saved backup from Palm Desktop 4.0.1.
Please tell me has anyone successfully used Hotsync on a Treo 90 with the below setup:
Treo 90 IR Connection via an IR dongle/adaptor
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OS
Palm Desktop 6.2.2. software
Post relates to: Treo 90

I went to the Locked message 'START HERE - HOTSYNC TROUBLESHOOTING - START' but find that the top two links no longer load, sadly.
Well, if I perform a backup, then have palm desktop import memo, I see the new entry from the Treo.  All my changes are done on the Palm Desktop and there is no way to back it up and import it to the Treo.  So I tried opening the Palm Desktop- Memo- Select All- Save All- then opened Hotsync Manager and set the Memo to 'Desktop overwrites handheld', no luck.  It still syas all successful but not.  I've tried making it so the Handheld overwrites and that too is no different.
To confirm things, I did only a Backup and when complete I went to Summary in the Hotsync Manager and clicked the link that opens the data store, it did open the changed location.
So, can you please help me make this thing synch for real?
Thanks a bunch,
Selvan
PS Linhares, sorry I can't help cause I'm on Win7

  • 755 Treo HotSync error

    I am attempting to HotSync after I had my phone worked on at the Sprint store (replaced keyboard).
    "connection setup error (Cnc 1F04)" within "connection setup"
    I also receive an error of "unable to initiate HotSync operation because the port is in use by another app."
    I did a hard reset, a soft reset and still I get the same error.
    I have rebooted both my computer and my phone.  i have tried switching usb ports, I have also tried connecting with bluetooth.  All of which results in the same errors.

    Are the errors coming up on the device or on the computer? If it's the device then I would have the device repaired or replaced entirely. If it's on the computer then it sounds like you may need to uninstall and reinstall the Palm software.  Backup you data first!

  • Setting up iSync on 2 Computers to sync with Treo 650

    I have a iMac G-4 and a new iMac G-5. The first sync was done on the G-4 with HotSync using the USB connection which did find and sync the G-4's Address Book for some unknown reason, but not iCal. Now, I'm working with the G-5 and trying to set up iSync with the Treo. Using Bluetooth, the G-5 can find the Treo but I get a dialog box that says "iSync cannot connect to this device".
    Could there be a conflict because the G-5 is using all the data that was transferred over from the G-4?
    I would appreciate any help out there. Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    No, there is not inherent conflict, although you must understand several things:
    It is a really bad idea to transport your Palm device as an effective 'storage vault' between two Macintosh computers, and synchronize with each. The correct approach is to pick one of these computers to synchronize your Palm device with, and keep the other Macintosh 'in sync' with the remainder of the pool using either .Mac Sync or MySync.
    http://www.mildmanneredindustries.com/mysync
    If you want to synchronize using Bluetooth, you should pick one Bluetooth-capable Macintosh to synchronize with, stick with that machine, then pair them by initiating the pairing from the Treo and confirming this pairing from your Macintosh. The first time you synchronize, you should overwrite the contents of your Palm device, so be sure that you are prepared to do so before you synchronize. If this means first synchronizing with .Mac Sync or MySync, then do that first.
    If you intend to use USB instead, again pick one machine to perform your Palm synchronizations with, but it need not be a Bluetooth capable machine. If you intend not to switch machines but do want to easily switch between the faster USB path and the more convenient Bluetooth one, purchase a copy of the Missing Sync for Palm OS which facilitates this activity. Switching back and forth using iSync is problematic.
    If you intend to use iSync and have added your Palm device to using the Enable Palm OS Syncing… option under the Devices menu—regardless of whether you have chose to use USB or Bluetooth—then you should be ready to proceed once you have followed the instructions which appear in the dialog boxes which appear when you select the option. [There is no other way to add a Palm device to iSync.] You must configure the actual synchronization profile before you proceed, however, by selecting the Tungsten device labeled with your HotSync name in the main window of iSync, an action which will drop down a configuration pane to enable your Contact and Calendar options.
    If you intend to use the far more flexible and robust Missing Sync for Palm OS, then you must follow the instructions they provide for installing and configuring that application, again being sure that your first overwrite the contents of your handheld during the initial synchronization event.
    Be sure that before you do so, in either case, that you back up your calendaring and contact information using the built-in back up options under the File menus of both iCal and the Address Book.

  • ICal and iSync with Treo 650 and bluetoothing

    Hello,
    I have a Palm Treo 650 with Sprint provider and I am trying to sync it with my iCal and Address Book on my MacBook Pro. I have synced the Treo with the laptop using the Cradle Cable once. When I did this, all the events from the Treo transfered straight over the Mac Pro but were deleted off the phone.
    1) How do I sync the two to have identical events, etc.?
    I have heard that my iCal can also be synced using bluetooth. I've been reading on here trying to figure it out but nothing has been able to help me yet.
    2) How do I sync using the bluetooth capabilities?
    I just signed up for a .Mac trial account to see if I had to be a member for the iCal to sync thru bluetooth but I haven't been able to figure it out. I have the Palm OS conduit installed. But I just need help answering these 2 questions if possible.
    Much appreciated!
    "locmi01" I have read a few of your posts but nothing that I found could answer my questions.

    I cannot explain why the events transfered from your Treo through the Sync Services framework where thereafter deleted if you were using iSync and the iSync Palm Conduit. That should not have happened.
    In order understand synchronization under Mac OS X 10.4 and later, you should read this document:
    http://developer.apple.com/macosx/syncservices.html
    To restore the data to your Treo, you should first make sure it is present in both iCal and the Address Book, back up both datasets using the option to do so under the File menu of each application, then…
    • launch iSync
    • open the Preferences… dialog
    • press the Reset Sync History… button and follow the directions which appear
    You should opt to replace the information on your Treo when presented with the option to either merge or replace records.
    With regard to Bluetooth synchronization, you must first get USB synchronization working properly. Only then should you pair your device initiating the process from your Treo and confirming it from your MacBook, then electing to initiate a HotSync Bluetooth sync session from your device.
    Keep in mind that USB is a faster and wider path, and will result in faster, if not necessarily as convenient, synchronization.

    To the best of my recollection, the 9/16/08 Date Book HotSync failure shown above roughly coincided with the onset of similar failures when I have attempted to HotSync the same Treo with the Windows XP Pro box I use at work.  I don't know whether the HotSync failure on the Windows Vista Box I have at home preceded the failure on the XP box I use at work or vice versa, but I have to wonder if a HotSync failure for an App on one box can trigger similar failures for the same App when one attempts to HotSync it on other boxes.   I've trolled this help forum and haven't found any leads.  I really need to get my calendars at work and home back on the same page, so I would greatly appreciate suggestions. jfzaehringer

    There may be database corruption causing the issue. Click on the following link for the program called DbFixiT. This program has a trial version that you can download and install on your Palm OS device. The trial version will scan for database corruption and then report the corruption. You can then find the records causing the problem and fix them yourself or you can purchase the program and have it automatically fix the records.

  • Vista 64-bit and Treo 600 Hotsync solution that works!

    I too searched many, many forums and sites for a solution to this problem. And I have found it.
    I have an HP dv9260 laptop with Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit and Office Pro 2007, which I bought in June this year. And I have been unable to sync my Treo 600 to it - until now. (I had even resorted to syncing to my older Toshiba Tablet PC (WinXP Pro, Office Pro 2003) via standard USB sync cable, connecting the Tablet to the new HP with a Belkin Easy Transfer cable, exporting my updated Contacts, Calendar, and InfoSafe records to .vcf, .ics, and .txt files, then transferring between the HP and Tablet, and then importing them into the appropriate app - Whew! man what a pain.
    Now I have found a far more elegant and simple method. I found an Infrared USB 2.0 adaptor (dongle) at the Chunwai_1996 store on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-USB-2-0-IRDA-ADAPER-4Mbps-SUPPORT-VISTA_W0QQitemZ110164766509QQcmdZViewItem) for $8.33 USD + $5.67 USD S&H (total $14.00 even) (I believe that the price is now $12.49 USD + $5.67 S&H.) , which said it supported and supplied drivers for 64-bit Vista. It took a little over two weeks to receive the device from Hong Kong (received yesterday, 08-31-2007).
    I checked the mini CD that shipped with it but found no Vista drivers. So I just plugged it into a USB port on the laptop. Vista immediately recognized the dongle and installed generic Vista 64-bit drivers from Microsoft. I tested the unit by placing the Treo near it. The unit recognized the Treo as a legitimate device! Next, I followed the directions I found in another thread that had been successful with USB 2.0, Vista 32-bit drivers, and the Treo 600, with one slight modification. Here is a repost from the Vista-Help.ca blog by Kerry Brown, verbatim except for a couple of modifications and few additional steps.

    Palm Treo 600 with Vista and Office 2007
    I've had a lot of people ask about how I got my Treo 600 phone to sync with Outlook 2007 in Vista so I thought I'd write up the procedure. Hopefully Palm will have new Vista compatible software soon but in the meantime here's how I got it working on two computers so far. First you have to use Vista x86. I couldn't get it to work with Vista x64. If you've already tried to get it working then you have to clean up all the leftover stuff before continuing.
    1. Uninstall Palm Desktop
    2. Insert the CD that came with the Treo but don't let it autorun.
    3. Navigate to the correct language folder on the Treo CD and right click on setup.exe
    4. Set the compatibilty for XP SP2 and Run as administrator.
    5. Run setup.exe
    6. During the install the initial sync may fail. Just tell the installation to continue.
    7. If you want to sync with Outlook make sure you pick this option during the install
    8. Once it's finished close the Hotsync System Tray application.
    9. In Windows Explorer go to the Palmone folder in Program Files.
    10. Right click hotsync.exe and set it to run in administrator mode with XP SP2 compatibility.
    11. Do the the same for palm.exe.
    12. Start the Palm Desktop and change the Hotsync settings to manual start.
    -and- 12a. ******* Check the Infrared option to make it active and available *******
    13. Exit Palm Desktop and reboot.
    You should now be able to sync the Treo 600 with Outlook 2007 or Palm Desktop. You will have to manually start the Hotsync application and deal with a uac prompt because it is set to run in administrator mode. The sync only works when Outlook is not running. You also have to sync twice. The first time you will get errors about the default folders for Outlook. Ignore the errors and press the sync button again. If it still doesn't work reboot and try it again. Good luck. Let me know if you find an easier procedure.
    =====================================================
    After rebooting the laptop, I performed the following additional steps:
    A. Manually started the Hotsync app (you can put it in the Startup folder to auto load at Startup).
    B. Set the Custom options to "Desktop overrides Handheld" for Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, and Notes - this may help avoid duplicates from the first Hotsync. Also, this is just a temporary override from the default setting "Synchronize the files" for each selection.
    C. Selected Hotsync on the Treo and enabled the Infrared option.
    D. Pressed the Hotsync 'button' on the Treo and placed it pointing at the Infrared dongle.
    The Hotsync ran to completion without errors! Though it did take a good deal longer since it only runs at 115.2 kbps vs. the 480 Mbps of USB 2.0, I am happy.
    Hope this helps others with Vista 64-bit systems and Palm OS handhelds.
    Cheers.

  • Hotsync Log does not show any information since August 2008. My Treo 755p has been syncing fine but nothing shows in the log!

    I just noticed that when I am done syncing, the Hotsync Log does not have any information about the most recent operation.  In fact the date of the last entry in the Log is August!  Anyone know why this is happening and how to fix this?
    Thanks.
    Post relates to: Treo 755p (Verizon)

    Now I know I've lost it--I'm replying to myself!  Would you smart tech people please take a look at what I found and see if it means anything.  Thanks!
    Two more clues:
    1) I was searching the Palm Knowledgebase and found out where the HotSync Log file is.  When I open the file, using Explorer, this message pops up: 'To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this web page from running scripts or ActiveX Controls that could access your computer.  Click here to...'  If I allow it to run, the screen blinks but nothing seems to change.  If I close the Log file and reopen it, it happens again.  How can I stop this from happening to the file?  Could this be the problem?
    2) The Knowledgebase Article below tells how to create a new 'fake' log file to 'fool' the HotSync Manager.  So I renamed the original log file, then created the new file as instructed.  Then I did a HotSync.  After the HotSync completed successfully, I opened the HotSync Manager and there is my new 'fake' log file that has only the words I typed into it when I created the file. Nothing in the Log about the operation at all!
    Article ID: 38959   What does the error that ends with 'HotSync.log is missing' mean and how do I fix it?
    The HotSync Manager is very particular: if it doesn't find things exactly as it expects, it won't work. One of the things it has to find in the right place is the HotSync log, a file where the HotSync manager records everything it does. See How can the HotSync log help me to troubleshoot HotSync problems? for more information about this file.
    When you get this error, your HotSync Manager can't find the HotSync Log. This prevents you from performing a HotSync operation. Luckily, the HotSync Manager isn't too bright. Give it any file called HotSync.log and it will be happy again.
    The easiest way to give it what it expects is to create a new text document, rename it, and put it in the folder where the HotSync Manager expects to find it. Here's how:
    Launch the Windows Notepad. You can usually get to it by clicking on the Start Menu, choosing Programs, then Accessories and finally Notepad.
    Type some text. You can type anything you want, as long as there's at least one character in the Notepad document.
    From the File menu, choose Save As.
    In the Save dialog, navigate to your user folder in the Palm or Handspring folder (find your user folder).
    Name the document HotSync and click Save.
    Launch Windows Explorer. You can get to it by double clicking on My Computer or by clicking on the Start Menu, choosing Programs and then Windows Explorer.
    From the Tools menu, choose Folder Options.
    Click on the View tab.
    Uncheck the box next to Hide file extensions for known file types.
    Navigate to your user folder.
    Right-click once on the HotSync.txt document, and select "Rename" from the menu. Rename the file HotSync.log
    Attempt another HotSync operation. If you still get the "HotSync.log is missing" message, contact Handspring.

  • Hotsync from mac to treo

    There are a ton of doubles that I have cleared off the flies on my palm desktop on my mac.  I want to do a hotsync only 1 way from mac to treo.  This will clean up all the doubles in address and calander.  I couldnt find the option of one way sync anywhere ugh..help
    Post relates to: Treo 680 (AT&T)

    I don't think it is possible to have the Palm sync to two different users and maintain one set of files, as Palm Desktop expects your data files to be in /User/(username)/Documents/Palm.  "username" will be different for your different users, so the normal behavior won't allow you to have one set of data files that all of your users share.
    For some applications, you can modify the location where it expects to find the data files.  iPhoto is one example.
    On my Mac, I have created a Shared folder that both my wife's account and my account can access. I tell iPhoto that the Photo Library is in the Shared folder, and I set it that way on both users.  I did that with Quicken, too.  It works: each user can run the application and get the same data.  You just can't have it open on both users at the same time.
    However, I don't see a way to change where Palm Desktop/HotSync Manager are storing files.  Maybe it can be modified somehow.
     So you might be better off just deciding to use only one user to sync, and keeping the data there.  You should be able to just copy the user data ( /User/(username)/Documents/Palm ) from your Admin user to your regular user.  Test, before synching, that you can see that data when you open Palm Desktop on the user you want to keep in sync.

    Try opening PALM DESKTOP, then look for the HOT SYNC MANAGER
    and choose CONDUIT SETTINGS. You should find the isync conduit there.

    An easy way to reactivate hotsync is to go to Program Files -> Palm -> Hotsync.exe.   Create a Hotsync.exe shortcut on your desktop. Click the shortcut and wait for 10 seconds. The hotsync function will come back. May have to do this frequently before fixing the root cause. Spyware software is a possible cause. Check the quarantine folder to see if any "Palm related" files are quarantined. If so, restore them.     Hope this can be helpful.

  • Help, hotsync palm treo 755p to my laptop with windows vista 64 bit.

    I am computer unsavy and could use some help.  I have a palm treo 755p that previously synced with my old dell laptop.  That computer broke, and I got a new HP with windows vista 64 bit.  Previously, the dell was running windows xp.  I have bought some new software, which I have downloaded to my laptop, and am trying to sync my palm to the new computer so that I can download the program to the computer.  However, after installing the Palm Hotsync Manager and other software, and when I trying to sync, the computer does not seem to recognized my palm, and times out after a while stating "the connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established.  Please check your setup and try again.

    Palm OS devices will only sync to 64bit through Bluetooth. We have a stickie concerning this. It's the third topic down under windows hotsync. Does your computer have Bluetooth?

  • Palm Treo 755P and 7.02 Hotsync Causing Knip Fits . . . .

    I decided to update my Palm Desktop SW from version 4.2 to the newest version 6.2  It is running on Windows XP Media Center 2005.  Since I have done this (and uninstalled, reinstalled a couple times), the Palm Treo 755P hangs up at the sync of the Datebook (from Dataviz).  When I unselect the Datebook conduit, it hangs up on the Address (Contacts).  Also, every time Hotsync ends, I get the error that a problem has occurred and the program closes (every time).  When I go back over to my other XP machine with Palm 4.2, everything works like a champ again.  Can anyone explain why I am experiencing these two types of problems?  Thanks in advance.  BTW, if there is a thread that is solving these issues, please provide the link.

    It may be a corrupted install of Palm desktop. If you have all your data backed up on another PC and on the Treo, you will need to "clean" uninstall Palm desktop and re-install. I would suggest using 4.x version instead of 6.2. There have been data loss issues with 6.2. This can happen if Palm desktop is open and the PC shuts down, a Windows update happens with Palm desktop open.
    During the re-install, skip the sync and finish the install. After the install is complete, change the conduits to handheld overwrites desktop and then sync.
    Here are the "clean" uninstall instructions.
    You should first make a copy of your data to have just in case something
    happens. You can find your data files by going to C:\Program Files\Palm or
    Palm One. Highlight your Palm Desktop username and right click and copy.
    Then go to your PC desktop, right click on a blank spot and select paste.
    If this is the first time you are installing Palm desktop and encountering a problem, skip the previous step.
    For Palm desktop 6.2, look in the following location for the folders and files, my documents, PalmOS desktop. You will find the username folder in this location.
    Now you want to uninstall Palm Desktop and remove everything that has to do
    with Palm Desktop from your computer. Like the above folder, delete the Palm folder. Once this is done, you will need to delete some registry keys
    from your PC Operating System registry.
    Word of warning, going here and deleting the wrong thing can cause your PC
    to not start up, crashing and deletion of programs and data. If you feel
    you are unsure of yourself, see if you have a friend that can help you or a
    PC technician that you can pay to help you. This will show them everything
    they need to delete. To retain your current Registry settings, we need to do a backup of the Registry.
    On the PC, go to start and run type "regedit" without quotes
    Highlight MY COMPUTER, go to File --> export. Should pop up with a Save As
    box. Current location is fine should be in My Documents or you can change to a location you will remember. In the file name box, type "Regbackup[todaysdate]" i.e. Regbackup07072008. Next, the hard part.
    The easiest way to make sure your working with the correct key, highlight the key i.e. palm quick install, and press delete on your keyboard. It will ask you, are
    you sure. Say yes. Do the same thing for all keys below.
    If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician.
    BUT do not turn off your computer.
    The reg keys are as follows (Note: some of theses reg keys will not be here
    but if they are delete them)
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm Quick Install
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\PalmOne File Transfer
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Pilot Desktop
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm, Inc.
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\palmOne
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource
    * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource or anything else that says palm
    Next reboot your computer
    Then reinstall your Palm desktop from the CD and do a hotsync. If it asks
    you for a username, enter the name that is on your device in the upper right corner of the hotsync screen.
    The best way to preserve your data is to export the data in each category in Palm Desktop to a seperate folder on your PC.
    Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that is convenient. Name it something like Palm Desktop Data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on that page for the export procedure.
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=28734
    Make sure you select all for the range in the export window.
    With the data saved in the folder you created, make a copy of that folder and save to a flash drive, cd-rw or external hard drive.
    Anytime you make a change in Palm Desktop, export the data that was changed to that folder and save again to the external media.
    With this process you can always import the data back into Palm Desktop anytime you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop or if your computer/hard drive/device crashes.
    One other issue that can cause the sync to stop is data corruption. I would suggest scnning the data on the Treo to see if it is corrupted.
    There may be database corruption causing the issue. Click on the following link for the program called DbFixiT. This program has a trial version that you can download and install on your Palm OS device. The trial version will scan for database corruption and then report the corruption. You can then find the records causing the problem and fix them yourself or you can purchase the program and have it automatically fix the records.
    http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm
    To install the program, set all conduits to "do nothing" except quick install or install if using Palm desktop 6.2.
    After you install the program on the handheld, run the scan and also scan for Blobs in the calendar.
    After you clean-up the database on the handheld, set the conduits in hotsync to handheld overwrites desktop and perform a hotsync.
