Treo680 Rogers - date set wrong on startup

Recently I've found that the date on my Treo680 is wrong. It seems to happen after the time/date is set from the Rogers network - the correct setting appears when I restart the unit but a few seconds later the time and date change. I just tried again and saw the following;
1 Palm OS starts up.
2 Phone connects to the network and the Date&Time page appears, telling me that the network will set the time.
3 Date and time appear: April 22, 1:27
4 After a short delay I hear traffic between the phone and Rogers and the time is reset to April 21, 1:24.
The phone is running Palm OS 5.4.9

OK - that works. Now the dumb question: any idea why is this happening? The autoset feature was kind of nice.

You'll need to connect it to the iTunes library you normally sync it with and restore it. If iTunes asks you for this passcode before it will let you proceed, connect the iPod to iTunes in recovery mode instead using the instructions in this Apple support document.

Address book rotating date feature sets wrong DAY

Has anyone noticed that the rotating date setter in address book does not work properly. When you try to set a Birthday date - say 22nd it will end up at say 20th always a couple of days wrong. Even setting on Imac and synching it will sync wrong DAY - month and year are OK.

Interestingly, I also have this problem, and I also live in NZ... (hi ppls~)
After reading the posts in this topic, namely Holly's posts about problems occuring between Nov to Feb, I went and changed someone's b'day several times to see what happens.
What I found out was b'days that are set on or before October 29 display correctly, but b'days set on or after oct 30 display one day early.
Daylight saving for 2005 starts on the 2 of Oct, so it probably isn't to do with that.
The other thing I found out, is if you have a b'day set to the first of march, it disappears. It doesn't display at all.. until you go to a leap year, such as 2004. There you will see that the b'day is set to the 29 of feb: one day early. But it probably isnt' related to the 29th of feb, because birthdays set on or after 6th of march are correct, but on or before the 5th of march are a day early.
Now... one more thing i found out is that if your week starts on sunday (as set in the preferences), the 6th of march is the first day (sunday) in the second line of the march 2005 calendar. The 29th of oct is the last day (saturday) in the second to last line of the oct 2005 calendar.
This may be a coincidence, but highly unlikely.
These dates don't change if you change the year to 2004 in sys preferences. Maybe it's just a freak bug, or maybe it can't be fooled by simply changing the year in system prefs..

Installing the CS Extension panel with the wrong date set on computer - won't install

Hi!
I (with the help of my customers) noticed an interesting behavior of the Extension Manager - when the date is wrong on the computer, the panel won't install giving all sorts of errors, but the correct one. It's cool, that it's happening, because of security - I can understand that. But it's not so cool, that the error that is being displayed is not about wrong time set. The users who install the panel receive "an invalid extension", or "wrong publusher" message and they think that the panel they downloaded is invalid, not the time on their own computers. Is it possible to fix this behavior? It's a serious usability issue, I think, that prevents users from using the CS Extension panels.

When I try to install from the Instalation disc it begins with the "Classic is starting" window.
That, and the other messages, indicate you are trying to run the installer on the OS 9.2.1 Install CD while the machine is booted to OSX on the hard drive.
That won't work. What is happening is that when you run the installer on the CD, since it is an OS 9-only program OSX tries to start up Classic, using the only available OS 9 System Folder, the one on the CD. However, before that System Folder could be used as Classic it must be updated by OSX - OSX must add a few files to it so that it can be used as Classic. This can't happen, of course, since the CD can not be written to.
The installer on all stand-alone OS 9 Install CDs will run only when the machine is booted to OS 9. You will first need to boot the machine to the CD, then run the installer. To do that, with the CD in the drive, restart; then immediately press the C key, keep it held down until you get the OS 9 Welcome screen.
It may be that your machine will not be able to boot to that CD. Conditions that could cause that are -
• the CD is not a retail OS 9.2.1 Install CD (those have a white label with a large gold 9 on them). If the CD is a model-specific one, and is for a model other than your specific iBook model, it willprobably not be able to be used.
• your iBook G3 is too new a model to be able to use OS 9.2.1. Many iBook G3 models originally came with OS 9.2.2 - and that then is the minimum OS 9 version that they can use; specifically, those machines require the model-specific version of OS 9.2.2 that came with them. Solaris 10 x86 setting wrong netmask at startup

Hello
one of our servers when it reboots set wrong netmask in the network interfaces;
the network interfaces should have 255.255.255.240 as netmask but upon reboot they have 255.255.255.0.
the /etc/netmask entries as
subnet netmask
let's say that my ip of one of the interfaces is 192.168.10.170
in the netmask file i have
192.168.10.160 255.255.255.240
is there a problem that i set the subnet and not the network in the netmask file? can i create an /etc/subnetmask?
is there a tool with dtrace that can determine why i cannot have the correct netmask at boot time.

Ach! I see that my first post had formatting problems. Never mind.
What I wanted you to try is:
ifconfig <interface> netmask + broadcast +rather thanifconfig <interface> netmask 255.255.255.240I think the plus characters were interpreted as formatting. Sorry for the confusing post.

OPEN DATA SET PROBLEM

Hello ,
I use the command OPEN DATA SET in order to upload file content from server ,
the problem is that i getting error :_No such file or directory ._
the file is exist in server I can see it when i put the path on windows start->run
and i give the permission for the folder to everyone .
1. My question is what i miss here
2. when i do little test and try to use GUI_UPLOAD i see the file content so i don't understand what is wrong here the file is not on my local PC

the parameter file_name receives the name of the file (ja, ja, ja.......)
here comes the explanation:
in the transaction FILE you must define phisical and logical path for a file:
for example:
MY_FILE => pointing to the folder /host/temp/
and here comes the call to the function in your program:
CALL FUNCTION 'FILE_GET_NAME_USING_PATH'
    EXPORTING
      client                     = sy-mandt
      logical_path               = l_path    " the name of your logical path defined in trx FILE (MY_FILE)

How to use multiple Spry Data Sets in one page

I'm using two spry data sets in one page. When I add the first spry data set to my page everything runs OK, When I add the second spry data set to the page the first data set stops working. Does anyone know what the problem is?
This is how I have my data sets listed.

Error message when using Spry Data set with XML

Hi,
I have what i see as a big problem, might just be me being
dumm, but here we go.
When I try to use the feature of spry XML Data Set and insert
spry table I get error message when trying it in IE 7.
There are even a problem when I use fireworks automated slide
show function, where you can choose to use the Spry/XML gallery
feature.
The error message I get everytime (incl the auto gallery in
fireworks) is:
The tag: "html" doesn't have an attribute: "xmlns:spry" in
currently active versions.[XHTML 1.0 transitional]
The tag: "div" doesn't have an attribute: "spry:region" in
currently active versions.[XHTML 1.0 transitional]
The tag: "th" doesn't have an attribute: "spry:sort" in
currently active versions.[XHTML 1.0 transitional]
and so on.
What´s wrong?!

Ok, let's take each problem step by step:
1. The first error you see in the browser: " Exception while
loading ..." normally appears when you try to load files that are
not permitted by the browser security model. This means the XML
file you try to load is located on a different server than your
HTML which is not allowed. The browser is not permitting to load
any files that are not in the same domain as the current page
because of the complex security risks. You'll have to either get
the XML file from its original location and save it in your website
or use a proxy on your web server that should request that file
from the external server and send it to the browser as an XML from
the same domain as the HTML origin.
1.2 The "Exception while loading ..." error you see is a
generic error and my previous advise is based on my experience. In
case this is not your scenario you'll have to open the SpryData.js
and around line 112 you'll see the following code:
Spry.Debug.reportError("Exception caught while loading " +
url + ": " + e);
Please change this line with the following line of code:
Spry.Debug.reportError("Exception caught while loading " +
url + ": " + (e.message?e.message:e));
to obtain a more verbose error message that may clarify the
reasons of your errors.
2. The problems you describe are not browser errors but they
are w3c validation errors. At this point the XHTML standard allows
every application that define custom namespace attributes to also
link a DTD to the page so the page to continue to be valid.
Unfortunately at this point this feature is not correctly supported
by the FF and IE so we wrote an articles about how you should
link
the Spry DTD to your page so the validator understand the
custom attributes Spry use. You'll find inside the full description
of the problems and all the technical details you'll need to know
to solve this issue.

Paged view data set not working

Help - I'm new to spry and web design in general, I'm
attempting to create a spry table pulling data from an xml file
which works fine, but the xml file has 70+ records so I want to use
the SpryPagedView.js function, but when I add the code for the
SpryPagedView data set the browser displays the following error in
a red box at the bottom right of the page saying "failed to
retrieve data set (pv1) for spry:repeat".
What am I doing wrong???

If the following is your exact code:
> var ds1 = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("extlist.xml",
"Root/Row"});

Then the issue may be that you have a } after "Root/Row"
which could cause an error in the creation of the ds1 dataset.

Why would only the first line of my data set txt file work?

Hi -
I had a lot of success using variables and external data sets until today.
I have an external text file that I have imported as a data set (Image/Variables/Data Sets/Import...). All of the variables have been defined and confirmed (at least PSD hasn't told me it can't find something which is the typical error msg.)
This external text file, with the extension ".txt" has 12 lines on it, each line is 7 comma separated values, and each line is ending in a carriage return.
YESTERDAY when I used File/Export/Export Data Set as Files... the procedure went beautifully for the 8 times I used it. TODAY I only get the first of the 12 lines completed and then the export stops. There are no error messages or other signs that Photoshop has choked on something so I guess something is wrong with my text file... BUT WHAT??
Any insight on any step in this would be helpful. You all know that if I'm using this feature it's because I have TONS of repetition ahead of me if it doesn't work.

When Exporting as Data sets as files... the step I missed was to select "All Data Sets" from the Data Set drop down.

Duplicating Data Sets depending on input parameters

I originally posted this question as part of Oracle Reports but I think its not really an Oracle Report issue, its more an SQL Issue. I am on Oracle 9i.
I need to generate a Report that is based on a maximum of 6 input parameters.
Three of them belong to Customer ID# and 3 belong to Number of Copies that need to be printed on the Report.
Parameters for Customers: P_CUST_ID1, P_CUST_ID2, P_CUST_ID3
Parameters for the Number of Copies: P_N1, P_N2, P_N3
So, at any given point, there could be a maximum of 3 Customer ID's passed to the main query. Here is an example of what the input parameters could look like.
User chose to enter values for Customer ID's 1 and 2 and left it blank for Customer 3.
Customer ID1   1001         Number of Copies   2
Customer ID2   1002         Number of Copies   3
Customer ID3   ----         Number of Copies   -The Query that retrieves data looks something like this. The query below is intended to fetch Customer Home and Office Addresses.
Of course, it is possible that there might be No home or Office Address or both.

Are you getting an error message that starts with "SP"? Those are SQL*Plus errors, that occur before your code is even sent to the database. In extremely old versions of SQL*Plus, a statement cannont begin with the keyword WITH. The best solution is to upgrade SQL*Plus, but you could also re-wqrite the query so WITH is not the first word of the statement. In this case, you could also use in-line views instead of WITH.
I tried to generate duplicate data sets as a Sub-Query like RP suggested and it seems to be working except the ordering seems to be messed up for Mr Robert Green. The correct order should have been Home, Home, Office and then Home, Home, Office again...The order above seems to be what you want, but there are many different reasons why a small set of sample data might just happen to appear in the right order.
Explain why you want that order. If you can say what you want in English, somebody can help you code it in SQL.
I don't recommend any solution that uses UNION. It will be inefficient, and difficult to debug and to maintain.

Data Set Save As Action

I'm working on learning how to use variables in AI so I can do variable pieces with fancier design layouts than I can do in InDesign. I've gotten through creating XML files, learning how to run scripts, writing a script to convert an excel XML file to an Illustrator Data Set, and loading and reviewing the multiple sets. One last problem. When I create the Save As action, even though I select the Data Set name as the naming convention, it keeps saving each data set as the same file name I created the action with (causing me to have only one file output). If I select the Override Action commands button, it does save with the proper names, but errors out if I've set it to save as PDF, and if I've got it set to save as EPS, the output files don't have an extension, so I would have to go through each one and add the extension before I can open or combine into a multi page pdf.
Any ideas on where I'm going wrong? I just created a new action, recorded going to Save As, and saved the file, which is sweet since it saves with all the proper settings (bleed etc.). I've tried setting the action by using the Insert Menu Item command, but that just runs an action where I would have to name each file and select the Save As options.

You can use "Save Copy" instead of "Save As", which will keep your extension, but you must take care not to rename the file in any way when it is saved using this method for the purpose of recording a saving action.

I am trying to create a conditional data selection tool which
contains the following parts:
1) Master drop down list
2) Detail drop down list (detail A = sites)
3) Another Detail drop down list (sub-detail B = contacts)
4) Linked data (linked to detail A = site address)
The working example can be seen here at

and clicking on the Log TSI (seems to work okay in IE7, Firefox 2
and Safari 2+, ymmv)
The Master detail is the Client which has the following
dataset:

The Detail data set is the Site (each site belongs to a
Client, and each Client has many Sites):

with an optional parameter of client_id=X where X is the
client id as given in the master detail set eg:

I have followed the example on the Cities and States to get
these two linked and this is a success. The part I am having a
problem with is this:
When I select a site I want to update the address
corresponding to the site in the XML data set for the sites: ie
http://system.incite-ict.com/queries/sites.php
This updates okay when you change the Client, but not then
when you drill down to the Site.
Also secondly I want it so that when you select a site, the
site_id gets updated and there for the contact dataset gets updated
using the XML file
http://system.incite-ict.com/queries/site_contacts.php?site_id=X
where X is the site_id
as selected in the site drop down box.
Any help regarding these issues would be much appreciated. I
have tried various different approaches but the current code is
what I feel is working along the most correct lines... obviously I
am going wrong somewhere though!

Many thanks Kin, I have made those changes and things are
looking on the up.
The only problem I have now, in IE7 at least, is that I have
to change the drop down boxes a few times for them to "get in
sync". What I mean by this is that "Lutyche Bespoke" in the default
selected client (maybe because it's the last in the repeated
region) yet the sites shown are that for "Acme Technical Services"
once you start changing things manually this error sorts it self
out!
Maybe I need to add some IF statements and SELECTED tags to
the options..
I am at home at the moment so difficult to test. Will try
Monday now when I am working on this next. Any suggestions in the
meantime would be appreciated!

Why is my data set marking server not included in my executable?

I have a program that writes data sets to a citadel database with a data set marking I/O server. Everything works fine in the labview environment, but when I create an executable of the program, the data set I/O server does not appear to be included. The executable can create a database and write individual traces to it, but they are not grouped into data sets. I have looked everywhere in the project window and in the build specifications window for the executable for a setting that would affect this, but have found nothing. Here is a picture of the build specification window for the executable. You can see in the Project Files window the lvlib file and the included Shared Variables folder, but the data set marking server is not shown as it is in the project window above it.
The lvlib file created with the executable appears to remain in tact, because I can open it in the LV environment and see the data set I/O server included with it:
Finally, here is a picture of the databases that MAX sees. The VI in the LV environment produced the top database called C__Program_Files_National_Instruments_Labview_8_2_data with the DataSets folder, and the executable version produced the bottom database called mVROC_Database with no DataSets folder:
I'm using LV 8.2.1 and DSC module 8.2.

Thanks for the reply. As I was looking into your questions above, I found that the I/O server was indeed geting included in the executable, but it was configured in the original project to look at the wrong database. After a fair amount of playing around, I at least got it to create data sets. However, there are some other weird things going on now. The logged values of the variables are mismatched, or the value from say variable A shows up recorded in variable B. This stuff is all way too touchy. Overall, I've been very dissapointed with using the DSC and database stuff. The promotional literature talks about how easy it is to use, but that is just not the case, and I've been programing in labview for about 10 years now. Unfortunately I need to set this project asside for now so I can't investigate further, but I'll eventually get back to it.
