  • How can I calc sizing of TREX server

    Hi,
I'd like to use succession management and
I'd like to install minimum sizing server and I can find the doc of sizing nakisa server as below.
    https://websmp209.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000728933&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202&
But I couldn't find about TREX server doc from here.
How can I size of TREX?
Which sizing is the best for minimum spec?
    Hope you can help us!!
    Best regards,
    Makoto

    Hi Makoto,
SAP recommends using the Quick Sizer Tool in http://service.sap.com/sizing to size your hardware.
For other information check out the TREX 7.1 documentation here:

  • Lotus Notes documents migration into Solution Manager

We have been using Lotus notes application for maintaining only documentation in our landscape. But now, the plan is to move all the documentation from Lotus notes to SAP Solution Manager and use it as a document management system from now....
Could anyone please answer the following queries:
    1) Does LSX environment help/enhance the migration ?. If not, are there any tools/accelerators/functions/automatic methods for mas uploading?
    2) This documentation is not project specific documentation. Where do you think this must go in Solution Manager?
In the custom area of BPR?. If yes, please do let me know the procedure for the same.
    3) Would it be possible to link the documents to functional domains/ business scenarios/ business processes in the BPR?
    4) Lotus notes provides access to all the versions (Draft/Approved/Reviewed) of a document. Would it be possible to have the same features even in Solution Manager?
    5) What all document types does Solution Manager recognize?.
I think the Lotus notes documents can be converted to 'Word' format and then put in Solution Manager. Besides this, is there any other common format which is recognized by both the tools?
    6) Standard SAP Solution manager does not provide indexed search. So, in order to retrieve a document later what indexing nomenclature/guidelines do you recommend?
Has anyone done/faced with this kind of requirement. The idea now is to use Solution manager as a document management system. The efforts/process/timelines information if already known would be of great help to start with for us....
Could you also provide the trade offs b/n Solution Manager and SAP knowledge warehouse (KW)?
    Hoping for some replies ...

we also had the same requirement to migration from LN to SolMan Documentation base but there is no such tool (yet?)
What you can do you can migrate from any ARIS like platform to SolMan:
    http://en.sap.info/ids-scheer-announces-migration-program-to-aris-platform/4058
You do have versioning in SolMan and you can upload any kind of document via SOLAR01
regarding the indexing you can either use SAP SES or connect TREX, this is documented in the customizing (SPRO)
TREX will also be the prerequisite to make use of KM in SolMan

  • TREX documentation - Embedded Search

    Hi everyone,
We are implemeting TREX on SAP CRM 7.
I am looking for some customizing documents on SAP sites but cannot really understand what the difference between TREX, Embedded Search and Enterprise Search. Are those different functionnalities? Are they dependant of TREX implementation?
Any tips about TREX/CRM will be appreciated,
    Regards,
    Anaïs

    Hi Anais,
SAP Enterprise Search provides unified, comprehensive, and secure real-time access to enterprise data and information from within and outside of a company.
the Enterprise Search enables a centralized search access to all sources, i.e. users can enter their search requests and receive the search results through a single browser-based user interface (Search UI).
In TREX search, each source has a separate user interface.
To configure TREX in SAP CRM or Solman please find below link.
Full-Text Search with TREX - SAP IT Service Management on SAP Solution Manager - SCN Wiki
If any concern in configuring Software Agent Framework (SAF), please let me know.
You can also refer below document:

  • How to configure one TREX host with multiple index servers ?

    Hi All,
Does anyone know how to configure TREX on the one host,
    with multiple index servers ?
Reason for this is to make better use of resources available on the host server(4 Gig, 4 Processor, Windows2003), to improve the search performance of
our KM content for portal users.
I am using TREX 7 and have not been able to do this,
despite reading the Single and Distributed install
    documentation.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Andres

    Hi Andres,
    To make use of the RAM a Server provides you have to run two indexserver processes (each can then consume 2 GB);
    Proceed like this:
    1. Go to TREXdeamon.ini; check if section [indexserver2] is there (it is already provided, but not active in standard installation)
    2. In TREXdeamon.ini go to
    [daemon]
    references sections below
    programs=nameserver,preprocessor1,indexserver1,queueserver,alertserver
and add indexserver2 here. Restart TREX; second porcess is then started; can be checked in TREX monitor in Portal as well
    3. To distribute existing indexes to the new process, start TREXadmintool and go to Index: Landscape
Go to the last two columns and move the indexes (move master here/secondary mouse click)
If you don't distribute the indexes the new index server process will be regarded when an new index is created.
    Hope this helps!
    cheers
    Bettina

  • TREX/Content Server: Full text searches not working

I've setup TREX and Content Server in a sandbox environment and have been trying to get my head around DMS.  I've completed what I've believed are the required steps (outlined below) and I have submitted 12 documents of various types into the respository.  I'm able to perform meta data searches but not full text searched.  Any ideas what I might have missed?
    Much thanks!!!!
    /Greg
    0. Defined connection to TREX Server: TREX_42 (SM59); Using TREXADMIN all services are green.
    1. "Define Document Area" - DMS is present; assumed I would use this one.
    2. "Defined Indexing Readiness" - selected "Index Release" & "Classify" for DMS; set "Search Srv" to DMS_TEST
    3. "Define Content Respository" - Created Z_CR_001 and maintained it as follows:
      - Documentation Area: Document Management System
      - Storage Type: HTTP content server
      - HTTP Server:  srv-sptxd2-dal.intervoice.int  (content server)
      - Port: 1090
      - HTTP Script: ContentServer/ContentServer.dll
      - Physical Path: /usr/sap/IRD/SYS/global/
    4. "Define Content Categories" - Created ZCSSTRUCT; maintained as follows:
      - Document Area: DMS
      - Content Rep: Z_CR_001
    5. Checked CSADMIN for Z_CR_001 - All Green
    6. Went into SKPR07 (monitoring tab); entered DMS_PCD1 and "Indexing possible", "Auto indexing" and "DocArea activated" is all green.
    7. Went into SMRO
      - created SSR: "Search Server ID" = DMS_TEST, "Search engine" = DRFUZZY
      - Verified "RFC Destinations"; passed tests; all green.
    8. Went into SKPR07; using DMS_PCD1 as document class.
      - executed "Clean up table entries"
      - deselected "Limited to selected language"
      - executed reindex. "Copied successfully from search engine"
      - Selected the created index category
      - Set the "Document area" indicator
      - execute "Trigger process"; 12 documents referenced
    9.  Going into TREXADMIN I can see the created index; however the document count = 0.  Also there is no queue created -- should there be?

  • Integration of TREX/Enterprise Search

    Hi,
is it possible to integrate TREX/Enterprise Search into a web dypro application? That means the user can put a search string into an input field in a web dynpro application, the request goes to the TREX and the result will be shown in a web dynpro table.
Are there any documentations? How to handle this? I couldn't find anything to manage this.
    Thanks.
    Regards, Susanne

The ABAP Dictionary F4 Search Helps (transaction se11) are supported by Web Dynpro ABAP in the same way as with SAP GUI.
Note that the function module TREX_EXT_SEARCH_DOCUMENTS is an SAP internal interface.
It is not released for customer use, i.e. you cannot claim SAP support for your implementation.
Instead you should use a released search framework, that resides on TREX.
For details read SAP note 1254901 - SES for customer projects on TREX search
If you need a cookbook, how to include your specific search help into a standard F4 search help, you can refer to SAP note 1345777 (FAQ SES), chapter 8.

  • Integrating Trex search With Solution manager

    HI Guys,
Please help me with this .
Let's say the solution manager is integrated in the SAP Portal and trex is available in the SAP portal.
Can we search documents stored in the solution manager via the trex which is integrated in the SAP Portal? Is there a how-to guide available on the config?
    Any thoughts are appreciated.
    Dev.

    Hi Dev
    I'm facing a similar problem.
We have a trex server. We connected the TRex to our EP KM. Fulltext search in our Portal KM works well.
We have several project documentations on our Solution Manager. I was hoping I could connect the KM repository of the solution manager to our TREX and search the docs from EP. I was able to connect the Solution Manager repository to Trex. The index is working well.
The procedure is described in note 750623 but unfortunately  the note is far away from a how to guide so I hope this helps:
    Trex:
    - Go to Admin Tool. Then landscape - connectivity and click on create "Connection". Enter system information of your solution manager system. Then click on Create - RFC Destination (sm59).
    Solution Manager:
    - Transaction srmo: Create a new Search Server Relation (DRFUZZY) and enter the RFC Destination you created in the above step and set it to default.
    - Transaction spro: SAP Solution Manager - Cross-Scenario Settings - Document Management - Servers - Connect Index Server for Full Text Search.   Click on "Define Index Readiness" and mark both entries for "IWBSolar" and save.
    - Now go tou se38 and start the report RSTIRIDX_REINDEX. Here enter IWBSOlAR for document area and execute.
    - Now go back to spro: Start the IMG activity "Schedule Asynchronous Indexing and De-indexing" and schedule the indexing job (Make sure you have executed the report RSTIRIDX_REINDEX before).
If you want to test the search go to transaction SKPR07, go to tools, select document area IWB Solar and click on "test search".
Unfortunately I don't know if there is any bether transaction for the search.
I was looking for a possibility to search from EP directly to the solman KM.  But unfortunately I didnt' find a solution for this. The only way I know is to connect the solution manager over a transaction iview im EP.
    Hope I could help.
    Marco

  • TREX search for contracts

We have installed SRM5.0. TREX is running on a separate server. A RFC connection between the two servers has been established. Is any other config needed to be able to search in SRM via TREX?

    Hi
You need to execute program SAP_BC_TREX_ADMIN to create contract index. Do read the documentation for this program.

  • Configuring trex for sap dms

    Hi,
We have installed SAP DMS (ECC6.0) to manage some of our documentation. Now we are trying to configure TREX to index and search for those documents, which are stored inside the SAP Content Server. Right now we have the entire technical configuration completed, but we cannot find any documentation that explain us how to go through the rest of the process... We don't know what transactions to call or tables to maintain in order to configure indexes and search functionality. Please note that we use transaction CV04N to search for documents.
Can anyone please provide me information on how to configure TREX?
    Thank you.
    Kind regards,
    Ricardo Inácio

I am facing the same problem: I need some documentation on how to use TREX search in CV04N.
There must be some docs, but I cannot find them.
    Thanks in advance

  • Search in File Server using TREX

    Hello,
We have TREX up and running. We wanted to integrated Files system search with it. This means we should have a place in where we put the document in file system and TREX should be able to index and get document from here.
Note: Point promissed for correct answer.
    regards,
    Jaish
